Imagine being in the darkest place in the ocean with a bunch of people who don’t speak any English they don’t have lifejackets available for you. They don’t have snorkel equipment ready for you and there’s boat smashing into each other in the dark. You can’t tell if you’re supposed to get in the water or if you’re supposed to put on a lifejacket, nobody helps you. It was probably the most unsafe thing I’ve ever done. I’m surprised. Even had any idea who was in what boat and who was going where I wouldn’t be surprised if we lost a few people at sea while we right there I would never ever recommend doing this to her ever we literally hate this place. Disappointed in tour. Only had 10 minutes at bioluminescent snorkeling. The description of your makes it sound like you get a good amount of time.
Ok trip. The guide was fantastic snd tried really hard. Older boat, water soaked many of us. Not great snorkel gear bad water. Trashy beach with garbage and debris all over. They did have a storm so a little grace but overall just an okay experience compared to the many others we had.
Don’t be fooled, this is the same crappy 7 islands sunset tour run by Mariam Tours and marketed under all kinds of different names. I was ill afterwards and threw up for several hours that night from the food. We only swam with the plankton for 5 mins and the rest of the 10+ hours was spent mostly waiting around. If you are mainly interested in seeing plankton I don’t recommend this tour.
The island tour was nice and well organised but please don’t book this trip as we did purely for the bioluminescent part. It was literally a bucket of water in the boat not the beach setting as the photo would suggest
We had a great day going to different islands. I would recommend rock shoes for climbing the ladder in and out of the boat. Only 2 issues I have were the BBQ dinner was not a BBQ (deep fried chicken pieces, rice and chicken curry) and unless you get in the water you will not see the hi-light of the tour the Bioluminescence.
The tour itself was good and the tourguide also, but I would not book with this agency again. They had a big sign promoting elephant riding, which shows lack of insight and/or concern for animal welfare. There were also three cats at the agency, of which two were pregntant, and the staff showed no understanding when I raised the topic of spay/neutering. If animal welfare is something you care about, I would not book with this agency.
We booked this as part of a 7 island boat trip. It was very dissapointing to say the least. After a day of being hurded around like cattle with several other boat trips we saw some big rocks and some OK beaches. The last stop was to see the plankton light up at night in the sea. You saw more lights while lying on your back in the sea looking up at the stars!
The tour itself and the tour guide were good but I would not recommend booking a tour with this agency. They had a poster to promote elephant riding, despite the known welfare issues of the elephants. There were also 3 unneutered cats at the agency location. 2 looked already pregnant. There was no interest in taking any responsibility to neuter them. I would not book a tour from this agency again until they remove elephant riding from their offering and stop promote that kind of tours. I think it is unprofessional.
Great value for money. Some beaches were a bit crowded, but the tour was well organised. Nice food and highlight was sunset at the beach. For bio plankton I recommend jumping into the water when boat stops to swim as that’s when you can see so many of them!
I was so excited to do this long boat trip and was left feeling extremely disappointed. While checking in we were told that we would have to change tours as they said my husband was too tall for the long boat...disappointment number 1... When we got to the pier for boarding, we had to wait for an hour without any explanation as to what the delay was. When we finally got on, we were told that there had been an issue with the speed boat engine so we lost an hour of the tour...disappointment number 2 Because of this, our time at each spot was reduced by a significant amount to keep on track...disappointment number 3. The bioluminescence swimming was a joke, noone was willing to get in deep water in the pitch black. I would not recommend this tour to anyone. We were not given any apology for the delay, for reduced time at each spot or offered any sort of refund for losing so much time. Do yourself a favor and go with a different company.
Unfortunately, our trip from Krabi was a huge disappointment. Right at the very beginning at the first stop, where there was supposed to be snorkelling but we arrived at the beach, we had a problem with the first boat, whose engine had broken down. And we had to wait 2h for the next one. We were transferred to the second boat, which was too small for the number of people on the trip, plus the boat was leaking and taking on water on board, which made it heavy and the engine couldn't push it any more. It was very dangerous, and the staff who handled our trip made jokes about it, saying it was normal. To make matters worse, we were stranded about 400 metres from the beach. We were told to walk this distance on foot, which was very uncomfortable due to the rocks and reef in the water (no special shoes), we forgave the rest of the tour and returned at our own expense with different boat. The tour itinerary was also not as described on the website. Instead of visiting unique and scenic snorkelling spots, we were only in commercial locations that are available in the cheaper versions of the tours available on site (and we didn't want to go on such a tour anymore). The whole experience was very frustrating and definitely not worth the price and what is more important very risky to our safety. We visited only two snorkelling spots, the first in murky and shallow water, the second in the shade where as we saw it we didn't even go in the water. A plus for the service through booking, we were reimbursed for the cost of the trip, but unfortunately lost time we could have used on a well-organised snorkelling trip. In summary don’t buy it!
Got picked up OK and boarded the longboat without any issue. Our not so English tour guide (he spoke about 4 words in English) then told us what we were doing. For the first island, boat then broke down and were stranded on the island til a new boat came out (45 minutes later). We then went snorkelling at (what we didn’t know) was low tide and stepped off the ladder into coral and sea urchins (no warning given). 3rd island went OK but on our approach to Palang Beach the boat got marooned on the rocks and we were told to walk 100 yards across coral as boat wouldn’t move. Boat also had a whole and was taking in water. 5 of us had to get out and push the longboat off the rocks so it could move and then had to walk over coral rocks in flip flops to the restaurant for dinner… At this point and being unable to communicate with the tour guide as he had no English we made our own way back….as we did’t trust the company who we were with. We weren’t the only one…overall a horrible experience and I’d think twice about booking a trip with these people. It’s unsafe, even by Thai standards.
I am very happy with Farus, our canoeing man! He definitely knows his craft. Our tour felt special with how his team put the tour together. Foods taste good, just a bit too salty for me. Too bad the glow of the plankton can not be captured by ordinary phone camera. Bring your own beer!
Amazing and really nice people. Maybe just next time refill the buffet as there wasn’t enough for everyone I saw. Thanks
Did not effectively communicate when pick up time was. It was an afternoon trip starting at 2pm. Everything said 2pm, the email, the ticket, the excursion. Went to get a bite to eat at noon, they came to get us at 1230. We had just gotten food and had nothing with us, so they left without us. Im sure the excursion was great but the communication was horrible. Have yet to receive a refund as we did not go on the excursion.
This was truly like several tours in one. I'm glad I didn't also book an island tour because it's pretty much the same thing. You go to chicken island, poda island and the one you can walk between islands through shallow water. There was also snorkeling in several different locations. The fish were beautiful, and we even found Nemo and some live coral. If you get sea sick like me, be prepared for like 3 hours of either being on the boat or in the water off shore in a row. It was a little much, but so beautiful it was worth getting a little sick. I recommend bringing snacks as they don't feed you until about 6:00. The food was really good. The bioluminescent plankton were there, but you need to manage your expectations. It isn't like the pictures, but there's enough to have a great time. It's fun to see them. The staff were super friendly and helpful!
Great boat trip - possibly the best one we did, but plankton were disappointing :( Also you have to swim in open water but can't pick up the light on go pro ie I didn't think it was worth it.
This was a great tour! The hotel pickup was super helpful. We loved our guide and were able to see a lot. We loved the stops and time to enjoy the islands, swimming, snorkeling, dinner, sunset, and bioluminescent. Our guide was super fun and added to our enjoyment.
One of the best and memorable experience I had on my trip. Our tour guide was very friendly and helpful with an excellent sense of humor. The trips to the islands were excellent, the food tasteful and more than enough. If you are a nature lover, this tour is a must.
Good trip! Well organized, the guide was great. Spent a good amount of time at each stop and everything flowed well. The dinner was good too and we saw a ton of bioluminescence
We’ve tried both speedboat and long tail boat, but we preferred the long tail boat more. It brought us closer to nature, and it was airy. We were lucky with the weather and got to snorkel for over 2.5 hours. Towards the end of the trip, we had a short round of evening snorkeling and got to see some bioluminescent plankton. The guide was clear, spoke good English, and kept to the schedule. I would definitely do it again.
Very well organized trip starting from pick up to drop off. However, the plankton stop was brief as it was too dark to enter the water. The guide did not recommend us to snorkel as well but i believe there are few of us who wished to try.
HORRIBLE TOUR people not organised, they don’t do what written, very bad tour the plancton is not like in the picture. It’s a scam the whole tour
The trips to the islands were great! Some interesting features. Tea was a good buffet at a nice restaurant. Please make sure you wear water shoes and swimwear because whether you want to swim or not, you'll get wet getting in and out of the boat! We took a 3 hour car drive to do this trip for the photo luminescent plankton, though and honestly, it was underwhelming. Firstly, no way was I getting into the water in the pitch black in a relatively open sea and secondly everyone with go pros etc who braved the sea, keeping very close to the boat, didn't catch any images at all. Sure you can see them when you move your hand through the water, but you can't get any pics. This was the main reason we travelled so far to take this trip so we were massively disappointed. If I'd stayed in Krabi, it would be a trip I would take, but not for the plankton for the islands...
This tour was the highlight of my trip!! The operators of this tour at Miriam were awesome!! The snorkeling spots they took me to were the best. Tons of fish and beautiful coral. But the highlight was the bio luminescent swimming!! So glad I took this tour, I loved it!!!
This tour was the highlight experience of my 2 weeks in Thailand! My flight arrived late at the airport, I immediately grabbed a taxi and headed to my hotel. The tour had already come to pick me up and I had missed them. The front desk called and woman on the phone ( who was the only person on my entire trip that I did not find warm and fuzzy) informed me that the boat was leaving in 10 minutes, my hotel was 25 minutes away and they would not wait for me so don't come. She did not realize who she was talking to, I am a die hard and do not give up that easily. Realizing that many tours get started late I had my taxi driver proceed to the pier. Unfortunately, the boat had in fact already left. The workers at Miriam Tours were so caring and concerned. They were trying to figure out what they could do. They put me back on the phone with the woman from before who scolded me saying " I told you not to come". After hanging up with her, I asked the woman on site, was they anything I could do. Could I get a boat to take me out to meet them? She said she could book me a private boat to do my own tour that would be identical and I felt the rate was very reasonable considering the circumstances. From that moment forward I was treated like a queen. The young man transported me to the pier and I immediately boarded my own private long boat with a skipper named BeBe. He took such amazing care of me and was incredibly kind. We toured past a few islands and then met up where the other boat was. He suited me up with a life preserver and in I went snorkeling. So many fish, so many beautiful kinds of fish! It was amazing!!! Then off to another island for exploring and another island for more snorkeling, then to Railay beach to meet with the others for a delicious dinner. The best part was the night snorkeling after dinner. The Bio Luminescent swimming was outstanding!!! Thank you Miriam tours and thank you BeBe for such amazing experience that I could have missed.
This is definitely an activity to do if it’s your first time in Thailand. Apart from the pick up being late everything else was spot on. As it is the off season the beaches weren’t crowded and it was a good experience.
This tour was a little disappointing. The island hopping was nice but it had rained that morning so the waves were choppy. This activity had advertised a beach bbq but it ended up being a catered dinner at a resort. Food had bbq flavor but we didnt bbq on the beach. However, there was plenty of vegan and vegetarian food to accomodate our diets. It poured a crazy storm after dinner. We thought we would be swimming with the bioluminescent plankton on the beach but instead we only got to see it when it was dumped from a bucket into out boat, nothing like the photo. we understand that weather prob played a part in our experience but we do feel like maybe the description should be updated so our expectatiobs werent so high.
We were a little hesitant based on some of the reviews saying they were disappointed, but we loved it. The boats were a little crowded and the pickup was a little disorganized but not too bad. The swimming spots were great, and we enjoyed the viewpoint non-swimming areas as well. The food was good and had good vegan options too. Now to the point of booking the bioluminescent tour: most of the snorkeling was done before dark, but after we ate, they took us one last time out to snorkel after dark and explained that you will see the bioluminescent plankton light up when there's movement. So the pictures where the water is all illuminated is much exaggerated but when you get in the water and move your hands to swim or just move them in front of you, the plankton light up like magic. We only had ten to fifteen minutes in the water there, I think safety reasons for all the boats in the dark, but it was worth it. It was a once in a lifetime experience and I don't regret booking this one on top of another island hopping snorkeling tour the next day, plus the islands were different.
Last minute trip turned out to be rather disappointing. Snorkelling wasn't great and even though the boat stopped at a few different sites it was all very much the same. Coral was dead and only an abundance of tiger fish seemed to be in the area. The snorkels provided were also poor quality. The one I had leaked badly which made snorkelling almost impossible. Would recommend you take your own. Plankton was also nothing like the pictures in the advertisement, which was a let down and appears to be false advertising. Instead it was just really small flickers of light when you waved your hands around in the water. This was for only 10 minutes at the end of the trip BBQ was extremely poor quality and not very nice at all Also the longboat we were onboard broke down a total of 4 (steering shaft kept popping out). Seemed a long standing issue as the crew knew how to fix the problem almost straight away
An experience which delivered the bioluminescence, but which was disappointing otherwise. Tour left too early, spent far too much time at intermediate locations that were underwhelming in their beauty (compared with other nearby locations) and was poorly timed to hit the same spots as many other tour groups, making for an experience that felt cookie-cutter. The tour guide was nice enough, but only at the very end did she tell us that we would only get 5 minutes in the water with the bioluminescent plankton — the entire reason for us taking the tour in the firstp lace. So what we got in the end was 6 hours of middling intermediate stops, with very long transfers inbetween, stuffed on a longtail boat that was rickety and extremely loud (even by longtail boat standards) which left us plugging our ears for long stretches of time, so as not to suffer temporary hearing loss. Verdict: 85% of the tour was disappointing, for reasons above. The 15% which delivered on promise, did deliver, and rather spectacularly — but only for about 5 minutes. We could have saved an entire day by hiring a boat at 7pm to do only what we wanted, and skipped the rest.
Perfect day trip experience to take in the islands near krabi. But The bio luminescent planktons were too few.
The experience is awesome, especially night swimming. But I got picked up by a different company than stated on the confirmation, and the guide also said different name of the tour, so I almost missed it because of the misscomunication. Local name of this tour is 7 islands sunset tour
Great experience! The crew did a great job navigating the windy day. Guide spoke excellent English and was able to answer many questions about the region
The guide was great but the communication should have been better confirming pickup time. Nothing much to say
I don’t usually go to tours because I hate the tight time schedules. This was bio luminescent swimming tour, but it was more 4-5 islands tour including 5min “take pictures” here and there and “don’t sit here miss” lining up to rent snorkeling equipments, for foods, for boats, for pick ups. We were behind on schedule so the activity bio luminescent I came for was 10min! I was super dissatisfied. The boat was old and in bad condition. Rather just rent a private long tail boat so u can experience all with time.
This is a very average tour, which I only did because I wanted to see the bioluminescent plankton. This part was great (you can’t really capture the moment with your phone camera), but there are many things that prevented me from giving 5 stars: first, the long tail boats doing this tour, which should be banned. They pollute the crystal clear waters and the air constantly, making it uncomfortable to breath, plus they are not very comfortable. The guides were not as enthusiastic and informative as in other tours I did before, but they were kind and willing to help. The snorkels provided were worn, hence not the greatest quality and we had to constantly spit on them to be able to see underwater, otherwise they got steamy. For the price of the tour I guess it’s ok what you receive, but I wouldn’t do it again.
A fun filled 6 hours with a good guide. Plenty of snorkel time too. The food at tge barbecue on Poda beach was very tasty.
A great experience seeing the islands near Ao Nang/Krabi. The whole day was very well organised and the food was great (vegetarian option provided). The tour guide Mon and the captain - his brother Man were super friendly and helpful! Despite the weather not being at its best on the day of the trip, they went above and beyond to make sure we had a smooth comfortable ride on the boat and a great time with plenty of opportunities for snorkelling and swimming. The sunset/dinner spot was breathtaking and swimming with the bioluminescent plankton was something out of this world! I highly recommend this trip to anyone staying nearby!
It rained a lot and we were so cold and wet at the end. The boat has no place for anything to stay dry. The bioluminescent plankton were amazing to see though.
Awesome Mand, his super cool brother, the sweet crew, and ALL of the staff did a tremendously amazing job! What an authentic, amazing, beautiful, freeing experience. Going to all the islands, the water, the boat ride, the scenery, the company, the people we met, and oh my - the bioluminescence was a once in a life time experience. The entire adventure was a blessing. You get taken to various islands, you get to take amazing scenic photos, you get to see beautiful fish in protected waters, the dinner was amazing - watching the sunset on the island was gorgeous, and then the finale with the luminescence was fantastic. The ride home was serene. We wanted to stop time and just take in the amazing day! If you’re adventurous and love nature, this experience will be perfect for you. Thank you Mand so much! We love you and your team!!! Bravo on doing a great job and giving us an experience we will never ever forget! We’ll miss you guys!!!
It was a bit disorganized (for boarding and going back to our hotels), but over all was a nice trip and the staff was very kind and helpful. We had a storm (that they knew would happen) and we still went - so we all ended up drenched - our stuff and bags too because to boat didnt had windows/walls (only a cheap roof). We were cold for the rest of the night. We had no fire show on the beach. This isnt a bbq either, but the food was good still. We did see the planktons very well because the clouds were covering the moon.
Swimming with the bio luminescent plancton was greate. Trip to other steven islands was a nice touch
This description doesn’t quite give this your justice. The reviews are mixed and we took a chance. Our group only has good things to say. They pick you up and drop you off at your resort, the meal was on par with the other restaurants, and the sites were unimaginably amazing. I would recommend this tour to friends.
Unfortunately it poured down rain this entire day which negatively impacted our experience. But the crew made the most of it. They served us really good food, took pictures for us, and kept things fun. I advise bringing bug repellent.
Was a wonderful experience. The bio luminescent plankton were a sight to see. Pong, Beckham and crew were great.Keep it up
I loved swimming in the ocean I was told I was glowing and when had my head under surface could see the blue plankton like visual effect
It was a good day, great food, nice staff, a little crowded, long waiting times, the plankton wasn't that special or enjoyable (but at least it`s possible to see a little)
To be honest, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone else. I felt like we wasted a whole lot of time just getting from one place to another without doing anything of essence. The organization/planning of the trip can be so much better. Massive room for improvement. Car trip from our pick up point to the first drop point was probably 30 mins, then our boat ride to an island was another 30 mins, once on the island we didn't know where to go or whom to meet, just kept following random people hoping they would lead us to the folks who had been communicating with us prior to the start of the trip, the worst part was there was NO GUIDE throughout our trip to talk to us, the one that came much later was a grumpy guy, anyway, once we found the right set of people we were supposed to be with on the island we had some barbecue (food was god awful) and then again took a trip in the boat to see the planktons (another 40 mins gone traveling without any guide to talk to at the very least), at the plankton site the person in-charge told us to go snorkel without any instructions at all, for the uninitiated (w.r.t snorkeling) this would be a complete bummer as it was for my wife and me. And do not be fooled by the display picture of the tour you absolutely do not see this kind of luminescence in the sea, you CANNOT see it at all unless you go down that water in pitch black of the night and snorkel in the middle of the ocean which was a chance only a few were willing to take. After spending 15 minutes without much to do we headed back to the pier where these guys' office was located. Here we got to see a fire show (for 15 mins) which I believe was the only enjoyable/interesting thing we got to see, the folks playing with fire were really talented and amazing! Overall a "meh" kinda trip which was poorly planned to say the least and definitely not worth the money you pay. And oh yeah, there were no soft drinks either as mentioned in the description, a lot of things were just amiss!
