Wonderful experience; the staff, King and Lan, were very supportive and attentive. Definitely a highlight of our trip to Railay! 100% recommend.

Overall a good experience but slow to start, not many tips given by instructor. Climbers are sort of left to their own devices to figure it out. No water provided.
My partner and I had the absolute best experience with the team from Real Rocks. They picked us up from right outside of our hotel on Railay beach, brought all the things that we needed. We then had a beautiful and phenomenal time climbing several different rock faces. The guides were kind and patient and we were so grateful that we did it. Our Guide, Faruk, was helpful to make sure we felt safe and took advantage of all we could that day. He was helpful and told us how to climb up the difficult walls, it was incredible.
Amazing experience since pickup, can’t recommend enough for all types of climbers. Gear is all brand new and the team has excellent belayers. Staff is all super fun, friendly and make the whole experience 5 stars. Shout out to Farouk!
I was really disappointed with this tour. The communication was poor from the start, and as a solo traveller it made the whole experience quite uncomfortable. I shared my hotel details and asked about the pick-up time, but I didn’t receive any response and had to chase multiple times. When I arrived in Railay, I was left on my own with no one to meet me off the boat. I had to wander around and eventually found the guide at the end of the platform. I was then placed with one other girl who had done a full-day course. There was no introduction, no support with getting my equipment on, and no basic guidance. Thankfully she helped me, because without her I would’ve had no idea what to do. The climbing itself was a great experience, but that was down to the location, not this tour. The guide’s English was extremely limited, which made communication even more difficult. I even did a few climbs without a helmet and the guide didn’t care. On the way back, we were crammed onto a small boat filled with local workers, which is definitely not what I expected or what I felt I’d paid for. Overall, it just wasn’t the experience advertised
We felt very safe and secure with our climbing instructors. Their guidance and attention to our needs was superb. The climbs were in a spectacular location, perhaps a little tough for a complete novice but very enjoyable nonetheless. We booked a morning session to avoid the heat of the afternoon but as this coincided with high-tide, the beach was very crowded with tourists visiting the nearby phallus-shrines, although chaotic, it didn't have any adverse affect on our climbing experience once we commenced. Would thoroughly recommend Real Rock climbing!
it was great, full service and nice guides that don't give up on you even if you struggle with your first time climbing ❤️ Thanks Farah and Pooh
Such a great experience, I went with a friend who has no prior experience rock climbing and I have climbed before and it was perfect for both of us. Great guides and fun and challenging routes
Thanks, Jay for a fun time! Routes were maybe a little harder than beginner—best for someone who as at least casually climbed before.
I'm 59 and love hiking and scrambling but have never been rock climbing before. I did the beginners half day course and it was without doubt one of the best experiences of my life. The location is truly spectacular and the rock climbing was much more challenging than I had expected which made the experience even more rewarding. The guys from Real Rocks were superb and gave excellent instructions and I always felt safe on the rock face. Organisation was excellent, first being picked up from my hotel in Ao Nang, then driven to their place to get kitted out with shoes/harness/helmet and then long tail boat to Phra Nang beach. I wish I had done this 30-40 years ago but even if you're getting on a bit like me, I would still highly recommend this as long as you have a reasonable level of fitness and strength
This was so much fun! Guides were friendly and helpful. The beach we climbed at was beautiful, but got crowded quickly. Nevertheless, each of us was still able to get a good amount of climbing time in. Would definitely recommend!
If you are looking for something physically challenging and exciting, this activity is highly recommended. In our family, we had varying levels of climbing experience. The guides accommodated us all and made this special. I specially want to thank the folks. I made a mistake with date while booking the event. I was contacted on WhatsApp and when I explained my mistake and requested a date change, they made it happen.
Great experience! Definitely recommend. The guides are very kind and helpful. Seemed most of the people doing it had some experience climbing. Might be a bit difficult if you have never gone before. They bring you to a beautiful cove in Railay. If I would have planned better I would have prepared and stayed for the second half of the day on railay beach and arrange my own boat back. 10/10 recommend
We had a great time rock climbing with them. I accidentally picked wrong date for the event but they were kind and flexible and changed the date even though it was past the allowed cancellation time. One is our family had indoor climbing experience and a couple of us had very limited indoor climbing practice and one had almost no experience. The guides were encouraging and accommodating all skill levels of the climbers. Highly recommended!!!
Incredible experience. Our guide was an excellent instructor - very knowledgeable and a ton of fun. He was able to work with the varying abilities in our group and accommodated my husband who never seemed to run out of strength nor energy! Highly recommend Real Rocks Climbing.
Excellent trip. The operator communicated very well with pickup instructions and sent me a text on WhatsApp on the day. The instructors were very friendly and I felt completely safe. They provided the rock climbing shoes, harness, helmet and water throughout the day. As someone who has never done outdoor rock climbing this was a brilliant first experience and I would definitely come again. Highly recommend! Thank you!!
Pickup and drop off in time, all good. Amazing views on Railay Beach. For an absolute beginner this was really a tour to see, how the others climb. All instructors were really friendly and very relaxed, but they didn't provide us with instructions or tips in advance (e.g. how to use your legs, feet and hands, how to belay down etc.). I would say this is not for absolute beginners, however I really enjoyed trying and watching others to climb. Also I loved the views.
Generally smooth, fun experience for my first time rock climbing! Pros: The instructors were very kind and the location was stunning. There was plenty of time and available instructors to climb with. Fun sightings of monitor lizards and monkeys. Cons: I wish there had been instruction and/or practice before belaying up high. We arrived at the beach as a big group, and immediately went up on the wall, 1-3 people at a time. It was nerve wracking going up with zero tips (e.g. how to use the chalk, how to belay down?), in front of an audience. It was also impossible to find an open bathroom near the cliffs, which was tough for a 7am - 12pm experience.
Communication was great by WhatsApp, Pickup was punctual. The long boat ride was fun. The equipment was of good quality. The instructors were incredibly knowledgeable and skilled. They would use a laser pointer to help you find hand or foot holds. They provide water, but make sure to pack your own snacks. It burns a lot of calories climbing. They take photos/video with your camera.
All in all an awesome experience. The best guides who are really helpful and knowledgeable, and incredible climbs and views!
Very well organised, professional but relaxed Prompt collection from hotel, rock face was manageable but hard work, needed a dip in the sea afterwards
We booked a morning session with Real Rocks, and were delighted with their service. I had gotten in touch with them (Jay) via WhatsApp, and clarified a few questions regarding pick-up, costs, etc in the morning. They organised a special hotel pickup (since our hotel wasn't in the pick-up area they service). The taxi took us to their shop/office, where we got kitted out with shoes, helmet, harness, etc. We were then taken to the ferry, to catch a boat to Railay Beach We had five people in our group, and two guides - Kung and Sha. Which makes for an excellent guide-to-participant ratio. We were taken to East Railay beach for a few climbs, and then walked to the West side of the peninsular, for a few more. All the climbs were in the shade, which made it a lot more enjoyable. In total, we had about 3 hrs worth of climb time; which was more than sufficient. For a first-timer, I had my fill till I could do no more. Both Kung and Sha were absolutely fantastic, and took pains to yell encouragement and directions during our climbs. After the climbs, we were put on a ferry, taken back to the office, and they also dropped us off at Ao Nang beach. An excellent morning, thanks to Kung & Sha, and the team at Real Rocks. Highly recommended.
Our guide Cha was awesome, he and his crew explained the equipment and how to climb very well. My daughter and I have had indoor rock climbing experience so it wasn’t a difficult transition to outdoor. Cha and his crew were very encouraging throughout and would tell you where to put your hand or foot next if you looked like you were struggling to find somewhere. Overall excellent with opportunities for photos/selfies once you reach the top!
Great experience, hotel pick up, boat to Railay beach, 20 min walk to the rock wall overlooking the beach. Nice setting. Climbs were solid, probably would need previous climbing experience (a bit too hard for complete beginners). Great experience.
This was one of our favorite activities! Half day tour was the perfect amount of climbing for us (beginners). We had a super fun and helpful instructor and the surroundings were so fascinating and beautiful. Would for sure recommend this if you enjoy adrenaline and a challenge!
This tour was amazing for the price we paid, first of all the guides were very friendly and helped you overcome fears and climb higher than you ever thought you would. In our case we both managed to complete the climbs and it was a nice change and an exileratimg experience! The speed boat doesn’t take too long and all in all the trip is a nice half day experience for everyone! 10/10 thank you real rocks climbing!!
Great Experience. Would like to try this again sometime in future. Not easy but with a little of help from the instructor you’ll get to the top. The instructor was fun to be around with and always made sure we are happy. Thanks Realrocksclimbing.
We were a group of four with one guide (Pom) and had a really nice climbing experience. We felt very secure when Pom secured us by climbing. He always pushed us a to stay positive, gave us instructions how to overcome difficult spots. We climbed routes that we wouldn't have thought possible. This was quite motivating.
Yes, the location is gorgeous - climbing the rock with a view on a 20 shades of blue sea? The school employees indeed picked us up from the hotel, and have all equipment. But the good experience ends there… First of all, not a single instructor was friendly. I felt like I’m in a some kind of a factory, being asked to move around like in army. There was no introductory talk to climbing, what I found strange, inefficient and even dangerous. Fortunately, I’m not a beginner, so I know how to climb, but there were people coming to ME to help with their harness or just simply asking for tips how to climb. And as much as I was happy to help, that wasn’t my job. The instructors did not even answer questions - they would just look at you with a smirk on their faces as if you’re a clown. There was a bottled water, but only 1 bottle of 0,5 liter per person, so make sure you bring some extra because climbing outdoor in 30 degrees can easily make you dehydrated. There were 3 instructors and over 15 participants - some of them were able to climb TWICE within 4 hours. At some point I was helping to belay other people because there were extra ropes hanging OR when one instructor would go on a cigarette break (!!!). Also, “our ropes” have been also used by other people who signed up for a class with other schools. I’m not sure why, but that definitely decreased the opportunities for members of our group to climb. And the routes, as beautiful as they were, were also really boring… all of them were relatively difficult for a beginner and people were just frustrated. Some participants expected that we change the location at some point, but that wasn’t the case. Also, the school didn’t give us helmets on a default, and it doesn’t sound safe especially if you know most of the participants are beginners - you’d need to request a helmet it in their school location. But how would you even know you need a helmet if you’re a beginner? My friend and I were “unfortunate” to participate in a few other half day courses in other places and with other schools, so I’m writing this review with some point of reference how a climbing outdoor class can look like. I wouldn’t come back to climb with this school.
I’ve never had any interest in rock climbing tbh but since I’ve stayed in Railay for few days I’ve decided to try and it was fun experience. The instructors where pushy when you needed it but not to much they provided clear instructions and advice and they were really fun to be around. I had great time highly recommended
Real Rocks Climbing School provided two guides for our group. They had great personalities and were fun, patient, and kind. They did provide personal attention to each participant and were mindful of our varying abilities and experience levels. Phone (one of the guides) carried a laser pointer, which was helpful when climbing to direct us. They provided quality gear (shoes and harness) in a dry sack that included a bottle of water, which was thoughtful considering the heat! One thing to note: The location we used for climbing, Tam Phra Nang Beach, was inundated with other climbing groups. Although our group was the first to arrive, different groups took over the wall, and the routes were overtaken by climbers, making our group feel unsafe and rushed. This is no fault of Real Rocks Climbing School; it is an observation of the other tour companies.
Loved it! The guides were friendly, funny, and really encouraging. They were welcoming to total beginner climbers and offered a few challenges to climbers with more experience
Super fun! Truly funny guides, but in a non-pushy way. Amazing location and interesting climbs! We could go for a swim at the lovely Railay beach, too!
The guides were very helpful and this was a beginner friendly experience. That being said they were almost 1 hr late for pick up and I was the only person on the truck when I was picked up, so if I had not called, I think it was likely I would have not been picked up at all.
The instructors are super motivating and funny. There is plenty of time to do different routes. I would definitely book this tour again. If you need a pick up from your hotel, maybe just book directly and not online.
This was the activity I was most excited for in Krabi. And it lived up to all of the hype. My instructor was super flexible and helpful. Two of the people in my group had never climbed before and I had some experience. He matched us up with appropriate climbs according to our skill levels and gave assistance to people if they needed it. (Telling people where to grab and which way to go). It was a fantastic experience. And my favorite part of my trip to Krabi. If I didn’t have to leave so soon I would definitely have done it again.
Good and chill instructors who were both helpful and fun. Nice variety of climbs, have only done indoor bouldering before and this was a great intro to outdoor toprope climbing!
We were first timers and had an amazing time! All the instructors have so much knowledge about the area and even instruct you on where to put your hands/feet if you’re stuck! We both felt super safe and confident the whole time. Shout out to our guide Bo, he was amazing!!
Great afternoon, pick up on time, great climb guide, good fun, safe and really enjoyed it. Suitable for any age with climbs for every level.
The guides were super friendly and helpful. Everyone in my family (three girls 8 through 15, my wife, and I) completed multiple challenging routes up an impressive cliff on a beautiful beach. It was a terrific and memorable half-day adventure.
Tar was hilarious. An experienced guide who knew how to entertain us, even myself who chose to opt out of the climb at the last minute after being harnessed up. He made sure I was comfortable, he was respectful and never pressured me to do anything I dint want to. His drop rope knot trick is perfect and he has good banter. My husband bounded up the first climb and decided that was enough for him. We have both climbed a few faces previously albeit years ago so didn't feel bad about abandoning early. 3rd guest finished 2 climbs and also called it a day as we still had another activity to get to. Her feedback and we agree was the instructor didn't check in with what experience anyone in the group had previously had, helmets fitted incorrectly, guest 3s fell of her head while she was almost the top understandably she wasn't happy about that and finally having an extra spotter on the ground would be gold standard (quite a few random climbers wandered through, stepping on ropes, slipping on the slightly muddy and inclined surfaces etc looking for information or were in the wrong spot) but we recognise this is an extra cost and maybe Tar and his 19 years of exp doesn't need it. Monkeys came to visit and had a look at the bags until I chased them away and a huge lizard ambled up the rock wall next to another climber, that was special. If climbing is your thing you probably couldn't get a better place to test yourself and if you are a beginner there are set rope climbs you can manage.
Had the best time climbing! We did the beginners half day with our two kids, age o and 12. We all loved it, especially me, as I was a lot better at it than I thought I'd be! Instructors were great fun, professional and very encouraging. We had the chance at several different routes, all varying in difficulty. I highly recommend these guys, whether your a newbie or been climbing for years. They are very passionate about what they do and they made it fun not frightening! Id go back and climb higher if I could!
These guys are super chill, friendly, helpful and professional. Enjoyed it so much I came back the next day and they did their best to find some new routes just for me and even ended exploring some of the caves on the island. Great for total beginners, boulderers and people new to rope climbing. Probably would have taken more courses with them if I'd have been around longer! Would not go with anyone else now
A really nice day! Pick-up at my hotel was smooth, the guides were great and the climbs were fun and with a great view! It is suitable for different levels and they’ll let you do more challenging routes if you’d like to. Would love to come back!
Cha was a great guide! He pushed me to greatness when I thought I was unable to make the climb. In the end I did make it! Felt safe though out the entire climb
This is my second time climbing with the company, it was good fun, we went to a different section of climbing walls than my first visit. The quide with us was named Fun, not sure if spelled correctly but pronounced (foon) definitely a good guide to have, happy and pleasant and gives great encouragement. Definitely worth the visit every time.
Absolutely awesome morning climbing the rocks! As complete beginners we were given very good instructions and guidance and with the enthusiasm and encouragement of the instructors we quickly got the hang of it. Great team of people, supportive and with a great sense of humour! Definitely would recommend for anyone visiting Krabi.
We splurged for a private guide (half day) for me and my 15 year old daughter. Matcha, our guide, was very nice and friendly. Helped us through and catered to all our needs as well as encouraged and challenged us with different routes. We had a great time. It was a real treat to be able to climb at one of the greatest spots in the world. The views up top is unbelievable. We were lucky to have great weather as well. Tips: pack plenty of water. There is a store on Railay but it’s best to load up some water and snacks. Get mango smoothie from the corner shop by the public bathroom after the climb. Delicious!
Absolutely brilliant experience, All the staff were great and so knowledgeable and helped in every way possible. My husband and my 13 year old daughter did amazing and got really high and staff helped and guided her all the way to the top. Would definitely recommend it and would definitely do it again highly recommended.
Amazing trip. Staff are cool and putting the time to tach you. Also took a great swim in Railey Beach
