The best day out ever. For the price you pay you get an intimate day snorkelling and exercise the pig island it is a perfect length of time ans the boat driver was really welcoming and accommodating. If you are looming for a romantic atmosphere whilst exploring i would do this. During October the crowds are less and it is definitely best for 2 people.

A great trip out. Collected on time in a private car. Boat across was a bit bumpy but was great fun. Snorkelling was good, guide and boat driver were great, pig island was busy but a must see.
Our tour guide was excellent, she took photos for us, spoke excellent English and always made sure we were comfortable. Pig Island was amazing! My 13 year old daughter lit up as she gave food and especially water to all the baby pigs. (She was a bit frightened of the big boars). There is a bar there to buy food and drinks (and even joints). Not crazy expensive either. The best part was bar people would pop a hole in the top of your water and you could give the pigs water like from a baby bottle. It was sooo cute. Feeding them wasn't much fun as you couldn't feed them by hand and had to put a plate of food on the ground and step back as they acted like....well, pigs 😂. Fabulous experience. Snorkelling wasn't great cause weather was stormy but lunch was really yummy. The long boat is quite difficult to get in and out of so if you have any mobility issues this trip is not for you. The speedboats were a much easier option if you need to though
Ok place for a hour or so. Pigs everywhere but the island was filled with trash and not kept up at all. Bathrooms were disgusting. The pigs were awesome however, from massive ones to tingly little piglettes. The beach is nice and the guide was great. Just over all 3 *’s. They need to clean up the property and it would be really nice.
Water was quite troubled for snorkeling. Beginners will like it, but passionate divers may be a little disappointed. A lot of people are on the snorkeling place and on pig island. But the fact of having a long tail boat just for us two was amazing. One sailor on board, and very friendly. Transfer from and to hotel was very nice too, with confortable cars. All the experience was smooth.
Great trip to Pig Island. Sea was a bit rough and we got soaked going but dried out in the sun. Was amazing seeing the pigs. Only a couple of hours needed on this island as nothing else to do. Remember to take a towel as well
We loved having the longboat to ourselves. Gave us a bit of freedom and felt a more personal experience
This was another great afternoon. The company picked us up at our hotel, on time. Dropped us at the pier. Where we got on a long boat. We stopped for snorkeling (about40 minutes). Then on to pig island. We had 2 hours. What a treat. We fed the pigs ( you can buy a bag of pig food), they are very friendly. We are around 60 years old and had a great time. It would be amazing for kids. Then back to the pier where the car was waiting to take us back to our hotel. Well done everyone involved in organising this trip. A real must do. If you don't do it you are missing out.
Great communication with Tony. He tailored our day around the cruise ship docking times just perfect. Private taxi, private boat. Swimming in the sea with the fish followed by piggy beach. Dream come true
I loved the pigs because the pigs were nice but the big ones were aggressive and I don’t like aggressive things 4 stars.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We took a long boat out to Pig Island. Once we arrived you are given a bottle of water which I let the pigs have as they seemed thirsty and it was scorching hot out. The big pigs can bite but the little piglets steal the show. Good food served for minimal pricing and u can swim or relax on the sandy beach. Lots of props for photo ops.
We had a really good time. The long boat was amazing. Thailand people are lovely. We really enjoyed ourselves
Excellent experience, easy and timely pickup and very smooth. You do get quite wet, and getting on and off the boat requires a bit of mobility. Guides lovely, and a great day
Well organised trip with as much time as we wanted for snorkelling & visiting the pigs. Beautiful fish & reef. Pigs were really cute & island was beautiful place to swim & stretch our legs.
Very punctual and good value for money! The air conditioning bus picked us up and the captain if the longtail boat was very friendly and welcoming. We went snorkelling, saw some coral and fish and went onto see the pigs! We absolutely loved koh mad sum and had an amazing time. Highly recommend!
For this trip we chose the private long boat option for a flavour of tradition as compared to a speed boat. Be warned though that getting in and out involves an unstable ladder and you may get wet. We love boat trips and this was great. My husband snorkelled at the first stop and was able to take some good fish and coral photos. I don’t swim so stayed in the boat relaxing. The second stop was Pig Island and believe it or not this is an island with pigs living on it. A decent beach with clear water to swim in, so my husband tells me, though not as much to see from a snorkelling point of view. There is a 50 baht per person fee to visit the island in return for which you get a bottle of water. Other food and drink has to be paid for. Water was also available on the boat. We spent two hours on pig island before returning to our waiting transport back to our hotel.
Great trip. Car came to pick us up from the hotel. We then headed to the pier where we were assisted in finding our long tail boat. The captain of the boat was friendly but quiet. Which was fine by us. Not a big snorkeler but loved loved loved pig island. Glad we took a private long tail boat over.
Overall enjoyed the experience. Guide very quiet, said very little to us. Choppy journey over to islands got very wet ! Pig Island beautiful but very sad to see amount of rubbish around the area.
Fantastic private long tail boat trip. The snorkelling site was more than I expected with many colourful fish including a parrot fish. Pig island is very entertaining, you are able to purchase pellets to feed the many pigs all shapes and sizes also there are dogs too and again you can buy pedigree treats for them. You get given a bottle of water in arrival when you finished it don't throw the empty bottle away just yet as there are taps outside the toilets where you can refill them (not water for human consumption) and the pigs and dogs eagerly drink from your hand held bottle. Our captain on the boat was very attentive and knowledgeable the whole booking procedure was excellent and on time I would definitely recommend booking with these
We were not prewarned that the sea was rough on the day and we would get thoroughly wet in this long boat trip to the island, also had to keep moving on the boat to rebalance the boat, no help getting on or off the boat for less able people, so all in all a very poor experience for older people, may be ok for youngsters The island was scenic especially seeing the black pigs roaming around the visitors but could not swim as the sea was rough, so nothing to do or see we just hung around for 3 hrs to catch the return rough trip back
Owner operator was very communitive. Which I appreciated Boat driver and onsite fascillitator did not speak English but it wasn’t a problem. Wish they had safer better steps to enter the boat. But it wasn’t a great excursion. They still going inclement weather. Very rough seas and got soaking wet but that was no fault of theirs. Pigs were abundant
This was very fun. As short or as long as you want to make it. The pigs are worth seeing. We enjoyed the long boat and snorkelling a lot too, we saw a ton of colourful fish
A great day with excellent service for pickup and return to our hotel. As an older couple we enjoyed the luxury of having a boat to ourselves with a very accommodating and friendly skipper. Being landed so close to the beach on Koh Madsum (Pig Island) that we hardly got our feet wet was a bit of a highlight when we saw how far some people on bigger boats had to wade through the water. The pigs and their interactions with the visitors was very entertaining while we enjoyed lunch and a beer or two. Surely these creatures must be the luckiest pigs in the world! We skipped the snorkeling but there were plenty of fish where we stopped to observe others doing this activity from other boats nearby. Definitely recommend this excursion to anyone old or young.
Excellent communication with Mr Tony re organisation/timings etc. Collected from hotel taken to a lovely new longtail boat., young Thai man took us to a beautiful snorkelling spot on the reef near Koh taen for however long we wanted then on to Pig Island. Again we stayed as long as we wished ( about an hour) lovely experience… fairly busy but wonderful to see people happy and smiling… young and old…er xx🤗 We are a couple 59 & 61 with our 13 yr old grandson and it cost no more for a boat to ourselves than in a large group….. Such a beautiful way to travel on the longtail boats…. Definitely recommend 🙏🏻🪷🇹🇭
Everything was well organised from pick-up to returning home. The longtail boat made it feel more genuine.
Ok saw the reviews tik too and insta and looked fab. Oh dear how different is the reality. Took local boat from Thong Krut pier paid 3200bht for 2 of us and had whole boat to ourselves. Bit more than I had seen offered. Can get organised tour with hotel pick up and lunch for 1500bht but you wait around for everyone. Went to snorkelling spot first. Water isn’t that clear compared to other places we have been, Caribbean or Egypt etc. not loads of fish species. Then to pig island bit of a run down place tbh. Few pigs lying around can’t blame them because of the heat. Came out when the food was being served. Sat around on loungers old wooden and some broke. Fortunately we didn’t have to wait around so after an hour we headed to our boat and back to shore. Most exciting part of trip. Sea seem calm but not in those boats lots of spray and bouncing up and down. Would not return and it is defo not like the photos and images x
Great little trip, the old boats were a lovely experience and the dad and son who took us really looked after us. The journey over is beautiful and the snorkelling was great. Pig island was full of pigs and dogs ( please feed both if there as the pigs get more attention) It was lunch time so after the pigs greeted us they went off for a nap. The island is Beautiful so take a walk along it. Half day is enough but you can buy refreshments there and take lots of sunscreen
Great trip. We didn’t fancy the idea of our family of 4 being crammed into a huge speedboat with dozens of other people, so the private longtail boat trip was the best option for us (and actually cheaper). Comfortable boat, friendly pilot, good snorkelling, and a lovely visit to Pig Island. Because it was a private tour, we could stay or leave whenever we wanted. No lunch included, but there is a wee beach bar on Pig Island that you could buy whatever you wanted, which suited us (with fussy teenagers!). One suggestion for others would be to bring beach shoes, as the beach and sea at Pig Island is a bit stoney. The private transfer to and from our hotel in Chaweng took about 30 mins each way, and was a bit odd with 4 of us not in a taxi or anything, but a little Toyota Yaris with a lowered suspension and big wheels too big for the car (so it crunched every time we went over a bump), and a noisy blowing exhaust. All part of the fun ! All in a great trip, do it. We had a great day.
worst experience. do not this company. dingy unsafe boat and rude staff. we decided to return earlier because we were worried about weather conditions and asked to be taken back. they said sure no problem 20mins. ok. another 20mins. ok. then still no cab so i called the company and asked what time the driver would come so we would know if we could sit and eat while waiting. he instead decided to lecture us and tell us just because we stay at the W hotel we are not the center of the universe…. and then proceeded to message me telling me to apologize for asking what time the car is coming. he kept repeating that we need to listen and not speak. we asked for an early drop off but did not ask for any rush serviced. we wanted to sit down and have lunch and wanted to know how much time we had. to make matters worse: as we were waiting another group walked in and asked the price and it was a quarter of what we paid online’ definitely over paid and over tipped this experience. not sure this company likes tourists or women tbh. i am still receiving messages about how i should apologize.
Great views and overall a great trip! We had a private longtailboat which turned out to be a great decision! Relaxed guide and punctual driver who picked up us at our private villa in Plai Laem! Tour operator also messaged us right after the trip was confirmed and asked info for the pick up!
The driver to the boat was great. Once in the boat I had no idea what was happening. My guide didn’t speak a word of English. Completed in 1H45. Wouldn’t recommend. Only rated high to be nice.
Quite disappointing. Pick up on time, pleasant trip to the boat by car for an hours journey. However, on arrival at the long tail boat there were no facilities whatsoever. This resulted in a further car journey to the nearest toilet prior to boarding the boat. Snorkeling stop good. Pig Island was very busy and if you are slightly unsteady on your feet/legs you will struggle to get off the boat as no quayside and small ladder only. Command of the English language non existent from our guides. Returned early as my wife could not get off the boat on pig Island.
Booked Pig Island through Backpacker Samui Travel. There were 4 of us ( 56, 58, 79 and 82 years old). Fantastic communication from Backpacker, who arranged pick up from the cruise ship terminal and return after our day. Also arranged an UNBELIEVABLE lunch at Kohtan Coral Beach restaurant on Koh Tan island directly across from Pig Island. Very reasonable price for LOTS of AMAZING food. Everything went smoothly from pickup, to our fantastic long boat tour and to our return. Would highly recommend booking through Backpacker Samui
It was a great experience booking the tour with them. Initially a group tour but because I was on a cruise they made arrangements for a private tour with my wife so we had enough time to do the tour and be back on time
Not a lot to see snorkeling in this spot, Pig Island was nice but definitely wear reef shoes, nice swim spot
Snorkelling 1/10. Reef completely dead and over run with tourists. Really sad honestly. The pig island was pretty fab though
Magical tour. Very efficient pickup and drop off directly at our hotel. The boat was charming, comfortable ride in the shade, and the driver was very friendly. Great stop for snorkeling with very few tourists (mid December) and lots of beautiful fish -we’re done a lot of snorkeling and this was only second to Bali. After snorkeling we were off to pig island, and it was fantastic! Lots of pigs of all ages and sizes. And mannnyy puppies. All animals were very well taken care of and friendly. The piglets and puppies were absolutely adorable. They have lots of alcoholic drink options to choose from, stiff drinks. We didn’t try the food, but it smelled good. The beach is also gorgeous, with crystal blue and warm water. Sunset views heading back to the mainland were spectacular. Would highly recommend this tour.
Very good transfer from hotel. On time - got to the pier and straight on the boat no time wasted. Pig island- lots of pigs, a lot of tourists and a little bit smelly. Luckily we could leave earlier and go snorkelling. You get very wet on the boa trip!! Unfortunately the visibility wasn’t that great in the water and only had half an hour time but lots of coral and fish. Coral was still alive in lots of parts so this was good! Nice efficient little trip that we didn’t have to wait around for anyone else, and still time to go back to hotel and relax more!
The pick-up was on time, the boat was waiting and took us to snorkelling (nice place and fishes, water was a bit unclear). Then to pig island, very nice to walk around and feed the pigs. Then back home! Very nice trip!
We loved this trip. All alone on a long tail, no waiting around for other people. The island was fun (wear sunscreen! We got so distracted playing with pigs we got burnt 😂). Our boat driver stopped at a beautiful snorkeling location. Great relaxing way to spend a morning! Thank you guys
Great fun and day out! Would recommend however if you have sensitive skin like my skin wear alot of sunscreen! The pigs are cute and beautiful beaches and quite enjoyed Koh rap also.
enjoyed every minute of it. Plenty of fish to see while snorkelling, and equipment was clean. Koh Mudsum was fantastic , but the water was amazingly clear on such a hot day. We got to snorkeling. you are travelling on an open long boat, you get quite wet during the travel. Also bring a towel, sunscreen and water, they do supply water .
Punctual, safe, attentive and flexible. Everyone was very nice Thank you I recommend this tour
The snorkeling didn’t meet our expectations - yes, it was a private tour for two, but the snorkeling site was really full of “private boats” - regardless of the poor visibility the underwater world was very poor - even if I see the boaters dropping their anchors on the few corals .... Well, and Pig Island to me is Nepp -
Super accueil ! Tout est organisé comme indiqué sur ce que tu as réservé. Les gens sont tellement gentils. Je recommande +++
We didn't get what we expected. Madsum Pig Island looks nothing like the island of pigs in the Bahamas and not even like our hotel last year with a mini-zoo in Phuket, where pigs are cared for and look healthy and happy. In December 2024, Koh Madsum is a filthy littered patch of sushi, with no sun loungers, no umbrellas, only a bar of infrastructure with beer, pig food ($1.5 per 100 grams) and marijuana slightly more expensive than pig food. Pigs kept in mud are not mini-pygs, they are ordinary meat pigs whose fates are understood as they breed. Walking around the island is unpleasant because of the mud (it is broken glass on the ground, plastic, household waste that lies 1 meter from the beach (the shoes were taken from us on the boat). It is an example of the repugnant exploitation of nature by a man who has no concern for its conservation at all. We spent 1.5 hours on this island. Just found a cleaner place and went into the water. Next, snorkeling. The situation may be better in other months, but in December and January the water was murky, lots of plankton. The fish were just needles and yellow reef fish. Everything. The current is very strong, life jackets are recommended even for confident swimmers. Snorkeling took 30 minutes. Total, the whole "useful part of the excursion" - 2 hours of clean time, another 30 minutes transfers, the rest of the time - is lunch on the dock in Samui: rice, vegetables, watermelon. Not worth a day.
A perfect excursion for a nice morning. Note, however, that this excursion is not recommended for people with reduced mobility
Went to pig island yesterday with a private lontail boat and snorkeled. That was the trip we booked. In our opinion, they should have cancelled this trip from the tour operator. The sea was very rough. And we had specially chosen this private tour for snorkeling. That pig island would be disappointing we had already thought of. We were done with that in 15 minutes. But had us looking forward to snorkeling. Especially since we went private. We could float as long as we wanted. We had that experience before. But the sea was rough snorkeling was not possible. Nothing to see because of the rough water and spicy current. Quickly got back on the boat. And there we were. The skipper said nothing let us down. Until we turned on translate and asked if we could go somewhere else. He then sailed us to the beach from koh tan. We had a drink there. We went back to the boat because we were worried about the weather and the rough seas. Although the skipper was not worried about anything, we had a nasty trip back to the pier. Hard rain on the way back and lots of splashing water made it almost impossible to sit properly on the longtail boat. We put on our diving goggles with snorkel during the return trip. Because we kept getting so much water in our mouths and eyes. That it really wasn't nice. And I'm not safe either. It's too bad. A wasted day.
It was a great trip. First we were driven to a reef. It was mainly fish that were fed from the boat. Pig Island was great too. There was little going on here.
