Itinerary
Kerry Bog Village & Red Fox Inn: The Bog Village gives you a fascinating insight into how people lived and worked in Ireland in the 18th century. The village is the only one of its kind in Europe and is one of Kerry’s leading tourist attractions. (There is a separate charge to tour the village.) The Red Fox Inn is situated beside the Kerry Bog Village. Their Irish coffees are world-famous and a discount is available to visitors who purchase a ticket for the village
We stop in the town of Cahersiveen which is one of the westernmost towns in Ireland and, therefore, in Europe. It has remained principally a market town throughout the centuries and has never been truly affected by the tourist industry, so it remains one of the more original towns along the Ring of Kerry. One of its many attractions is the Daniel O’Connell Memorial Church, named for one of Ireland’s most important historical figures. O’Connell, often referred to as The Liberator, was born just outside the town in 1775.
We make a brief stop in the beautiful village of Waterville which is stunningly situated between the wild Atlantic Ocean and Lough Currane. Uniquely, this is the only village on the Ring of Kerry that is actually right on the coast. Enjoy a walk along the seafront or “Promenade” as the locals call it, where you can taste the salt water in the air. This is usually our lunch stop.
Travel the 180km looped route around the Iveragh Peninsula, better known as the majestic Ring of Kerry. There will be plenty of points to stop and look out over the Atlantic Ocean and the rugged Kerry coastline. Weather permitting you will have a chance to see Skellig Michael, an iconic island located 8 miles off the southwest coast.
We enjoy a brief stop in the picturesque village of Sneem which is immaculately kept with its traditional buildings, pubs, restaurants and craft shops all painted in an array of beautiful colours. Little wonder it is a past winner of the ‘Tidy Towns of Ireland’ award. A peaceful idyll where no hustle or bustle is allowed.
Situated in the Killarney National Park, Ladies View is one of Ireland’s best-known and loved panoramas. Enjoy the magnificent view of the valleys, lakes and mountains, including the Black Valley, Upper and Lower Lakes and some of the Killarney National Park.
A stop at the Coomakista Pass is a must. This is one of the most photographed panoramas on the Ring of Kerry and for good reason. Here you will be over 215 metres (700 feet) above the sea with stunning views over Kenmare Bay, Abbey Island, Deenish Island, Scariff Island and much more.

This tour was one I was really looking forward to and it was one of my favourite parts of my whole trip! Kevin made the tour even more memorable with his phenomenal personality! He was amazing, I loved our chitchats and he cracked jokes the whole time, my mouth hurt from smiling by the end of the day! We stopped often so the drive didn’t seem as long as it was and I was left speechless at every turn! We had lunch at dooleys and even the view from the restaurant was stunning! I would 1000% recommend this and would do it again in a heart beat!
Ring of Kerry is very beautiful, maybe even better than the Cliffs of Mohr. Our driver was Sheila, she did a wonderful job. She was very flexible and designed the tour around what we were interested in and kept to our time needs. She was very informative on what we were seeing without being too talkative.
Very good. Stops were a little shorter than we would have liked, but it's a long trip so understandable.
Brilliant. Kevin was knowledgeable, funny, real and polite. A fantastic tour, highly recommended!
We had an amazing time with Sheila. She was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Ring of Kerry is definitely worth a visit
John Kelly was great! We had already seen much of the standard tour, so John showed us different areas and provided significant local color. I highly recommend him.
The Ring of Kerry includes interesting stops and stories and spectacular views. A wonderful way to spend the day. Denis is an excellent, knowledgeable, and engaging guide. The private tour gave us the best experience, avoiding the crowds.
Nice to have driver so you can enjoy the sights. Sheila was the best. Mweather wasn’t great, but had fun.
Our driver and guide Shiela was absolutely amazing and made the trip 100% worth the money and then some. She was attentive to our level of involvement. Her recommendation were perfect. Her knowledge, wittiness, tempo and energy level was exactly what my father and I needed. When I say she made the tour memorable, I am not joking. I highly recommend doing the Ring of Kerry Tour and ask for Shiela. Bill New Hampshire USA
Private tour was a good option that allowed us to pick and choose what we wanted to do. We skipped the Kerry Bog museum so can’t comment on that. Sheep dog demo was ok, but $8/person seemed a little more than it was worth. Really enjoyed our tour guide Sheila and she was super nice, the intimacy of the private tour is nicer than being on a bus tour, but basically you pay something for entry at nearly every stop except those inside Killarney NP. Skellig Michael was interesting. Kerry Cliffs were awesome and we were shuttle to the top thanks to the private tour. Killarney NP was driven thru with just 2 quick stops and that was a little disappointing.
Tha tour was spectacular. Even in the rain the experience was enthralling. And our guide took us directly to the top of the Kerry Cliffs by car. We were gobsmacked by the beauty!! Shelagh was a terrific tour guide!!
Shiela our driver was outstanding… wonderful driver… very nice … and so knowledgeable of the various aspects of our tour. Thank you Shiela … you are a gem!!!
This was a great tour. Vehicles was comfortable and our driver Deirdre was knowledgeable and absolutely amazing. Her local tidbits on history and fun facts of the area made the trip fun. The trip was tailored to our needs and was able to make the most of our time. This was one of our favorite tours. Highly recommend it!
Beautiful scenery! Interesting driver! Best part was the Cliffs of Skellig! We enjoyed touring Ross Castle and seeing the swans!
Finton was a wonderful driver and guide. He really made the trip so memorable! His commentary and gregariousness was the best and we will always remember him as a special part of our vacation!! Well done!🍀
Lovely day. Cass was an excellent guide. Personable. Knowledgeable. Highlight was the sheep dog demonstration.
Our driver Sheila was amazing. Our girls miss her already and wish she could drive with us the rest of the way around Ireland, and then back in the States.
We enjoyed Sheila, our driver, and her flexibility throughout the day. The Ring of Kerry is a beautiful and scenic drive. Although there are some super narrow roads, Sheila managed them beautifully with confidence. We really enjoyed the sheep dog demonstration and our late afternoon lunch in Waterville at a restaurant right on the coastline with a beautiful view. We found a museum we’d like to visit that wasn’t on the itinerary and Sheila worked it in. The van was quite comfortable and we would highly recommend this tour if you want to see the entire area where the big buses can’t take you.
We were comfortable, kept well informed, and our guide went at our pace. The sprinter van allowed us plenty of room.
The experience was great. Highly recommend. Very punctual, informative and had great stops. Really had a wonderful experience!
Cass, our driver, was great! She was informative, a safe driver, and had lots of energy. She took us to a lot of terrific stops. We thoroughly enjoyed our day!
An amazing day! Our guide Jim was a wealth of knowledge and tailored the day to our preferences. All the stops and sights exceeded expectations. We would highly recommend!
It was great to be able to see the sights of Ireland without having to worry about driving. The stops were so much fun and we learned so much. We especially appreciated our tour guide. It’s great to hear about the history and culture of the county from someone who so clearly loves and takes great pride in his home. He was very accommodating and knowledgeable with all of our questions.
The weather outside was frightful, but we ended up having a wonderful time despite it. Our driver, Tim, was punctual, professional and an extraordinary tour guide--educational, witty and very considerate. Because my wife and daughter get easily sick while touring we ended up stopping at several places along the way. Tim was a perfect gentleman and never complained. One of the highlights was stopping at The Harp pub in Cahersiveen. The pub owner Tim, his sidekick Mick and their Guinness drinking dog Yoko were hysterical. Thanks for a memorable ROK trip!
It was fantastic! We hired Lexy Lynn to plan our trip. I gave her the highlights we wanted to see and she did the rest. It took so much stress out of it all. We also had a private driver which was amazing! We didn’t have to rush and if we wanted other stops we could do it. Give yourself time at each stop.
This tour was expensive for what we received. In addition we wanted the private tour to do as we wished. If we wanted to skip things we could. The driver took us to spots he didn’t know where they were and would look up on his phone. Half way through we had a member of our group not feeling well. Asked to cut it short. However driver insisted we were half way done. And he would go ahead and we would get back. Thirty minutes later he tried to stop and we had to request no more stops again. Finally we asked how much longer. Turns out he could have gotten us home a faster way but didn’t want to because it would “cut the tour”. I would skip it
We had an amazing time on the Ring of Kerry tour with Sheila! She was fun, engaging, and full of fascinating info that brought every stop to life. The sheep dog demonstration was a real highlight — the dogs were impressive — and the Kerry Cliffs were absolutely stunning. Sheila made the whole day feel special. Highly recommend!
This was a highlight of our multicity visit to Ireland. Our guide, Diarmuid O’Malley, was beyond fantastic, extremely knowledgeable with plenty of insider tips on all of our planned stops throughout the country. We strongly recommend this tour and have the highest praise for Diarmuid!!
I tried to book a private tour around Ring of Kerry. Turns out it was a bait and switch. They offer the tour for $131 a person. But upin booking they wanted over $350 per person. I contacted them by Chat. They just said sorry. There should be a law against this kind of thing! Very unhappy
What a perfect way to explore the beautiful coastline and charming small towns of the Kerry coast! Diarmuid was a perfect guide. We asked him to show us the area like we were visiting friends or family and he did just that. The local knowledge was invaluable, and the private tour in a smaller vehicle allowed us to explore places a bit more off the beaten path that larger tour busses could not access. Highly recommended and worth every penny.
Our tour guide Dennis did an outstanding job! He provided fantastic information, had a great sense of humor and made our experience one for the books! Would absolutely recommend this tour, so much more enjoyable when you aren’t trying to navigate the roads and soak up the scenery!!
Fantastic private tour! We enjoyed our time with Brian and hearing about the local area and history. In a smaller van we were really able to explore and get off the main Ring of Kerry road for a bit which allowed for incredible views. Would highly recommend for a small group - I was traveling with my teen son and mom, so three generations all had a great time.
Amazing trip made even better by our driver Mike. Very knowledgeable and entertaining! Highly recommend taking the private tour.
Fantastic way to see Ireland! Patrick was very likable, professional, safe and extremely informative about the sights and Irish history. There is no way we would have found the hidden jems he brought us to. Would highly recommend this tour.
Patrick was very knowledgeable, polite and accommodating! We enjoyed the trip immensely! Would highly recommend this tour. 😊
Great tour. Tour guide Sheila was fantastic - gave us a ton of information as we drove, got to know us, and planned stops and suggestions appropriately to our group (two 70yos with climbing difficulty). A few notes: 1) they gave us a sedan when we registered four adults. It meant we were rotating through sitting on the hump in the backseat. Given the amount we paid for the tour, I would have expected something larger. The car itself was nice. 2) As advertised, we had to pay for the experiences beyond the driving (museums, entry to the cliffs, etc.), but the sheep dog trial only took cash. We didn’t have enough cash on us, and there was no ATM on site, but they cheerfully took US dollars, so we were able to enjoy it. I would recommend this tour again.
Our private tour with David was fantastic! We were glad to have him drive and point out the significant places so we both could enjoy the tremendous views and beauty of the Ring of Kerry. We made occasional stops to enjoy viewpoints or towns, stretch our legs and grab a bite to eat. The day was well paced and so very pleasant! David was so friendly, knowledgeable, and a terrific driver!
Our driver and tour guide was David. I couldn’t have asked for a better day tour. If we return to Ireland, we will book another tour with him. Just an all around great day. Ring of Kerry is awesome!!
Wonderful tour. Lovely stops on the during the tour. Our driver Dedra was full of knowledge . Beautiful sunny day . Its a must see
Our driver was in our hotel lobby at around 8:40 AM - he was a cheerful gentleman named Joseph. He had tons of knowledge and stories about the area. He stopped at some many places for us to explore and take pictures and take in the scenary. He asked us even before departing on what we have done and not done in the area. Based on what we have already completed, he did the scenic routes with Kerry Bog Village, Skellig Chocolate Factory, a round about route to view Skellig Islands, stopped in Waterville for lunch (Charlie Chaplin town). multiple vistas and view points, and the town of Sneem for ice cream and Ladies View point for the final stop. We started around 9:15 AM and were dropped back at around 4:30 PM
This is an ideal way to tour the Ring of Kerry. Our guide David has been offering this tour for only a short time but one would never know he hasn’t been doing this for decades. As a native, he gave us the insider’s view with just enough history. We stopped whenever he thought we would find something of interest. We never felt rushed. We traveled on roads that were narrow but David navigated with ease. This is The Way to see and enjoy the Ring of Kerry.
Cass was an excellent tour guide, and we could not have had a better experience on the Ring of Kerry. Our favorites were the Cliffs of Kerry and Torc Waterfall.
The tour was fabulous and our tour guide, Cass had a wealth of knowledge regarding Irish history. She took us to unusual spots and hidden gems. We had a wonderful day. I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone that goes to Ireland.
Interesting history, culture and natural beauty. Enjoyed the sheepherding, shore, Cliffs of Kerry and food. At our pace!
Cass was wonderful! She gave us an excellent tour of the Ring of Kerry! She suggested visiting the Kerry Cliffs and they were spectacular. She was so sweet and friendly and had great info about the area. Highly recommend!
Cassandra did an amazing job! She showed made stops we didn’t expect and was extremely informative. I would highly recommend her!
Elaine was an excellent driver and guide. She went above and beyond to show us all the interesting places along the way. We really enjoyed hearing about the history and the culture of the area. Would highly recommend her!
We wanted a private guide to explore the ring of Kerry… absolutely fantastic we spend the day with Cass our guide. This was such a joy, we learned so much about the people and the history of Ireland and went to the best places to enjoy the ring of Kerry, stopping where we wanted for as long as we needed. This tour is worth every penny! Promise! Time flew by and we were sad when it was already over and we needed to say goodbye. THANKS Cass for the lovely day!
It was a great trip even though weather wasn't!☘️ Our driver/guide.Cas was absolutely a pleasure at all times. Funny, knowledgeable…and a great driver. Nice clean comfortable van as well! Thank you executive tours😎
