Woodford Dolmen Hotel

A lot of work needed on reception, I was left embarrassed twice ! Surprise anniversary present, I had prepaid and had to show my banking to prove that I paid already(I wasnt asked but I also didn't want to pay twice hence why I felt like I had too ) !! But reception said no you paid (yes said price) of flowers that I had awaiting and then said said price of room that's owed ....are you kidding me - my wife right beside me heard the price of flowers and room what a start , then I was given a voucher for dinner which was fine as for I did prebook the four course and paid .....fast forward dinner nope that voucher for mains only so I had to explain in front of restaurant I had paid for four course and fair play to the bar manager she checked and apologised there and then .and too add I requested a bottle of prosecco from the wine menu (only one on it ) it was very bad , screw cap !!! But thank you to the bar manager that did present it in a nice ice bucket (very nice touch ) The rest of hotel is flawless , food and drinks are always spot on (apart from the prosecco) and so are the rooms , they are always presented in a very clean and very comfortable But as person that had their wedding venue here a few years ago and always liked to return , the first interaction on this stay was just outright embarrassing for me and this is the and on check out too , I was handing back the key cards (all I got was a thank you ) I found that a bit cold especially the money that I spend ( no I am expecting a red carpet ) but a simple how was your stay this is the very reason I won't be returning to stay , or eat or drink .

Absolutely amazing service from beginning to end! We had the most wonderful experience with Woodford Dolmen for my mam’s wedding. Everything was organised beautifully from start to finish, and the whole day was made so special by the amazing staff. A special mention has to go to Claire, who was absolutely fantastic throughout the entire process. She was so welcoming, helpful and attentive, and made sure everything was organised perfectly. She was always there to answer any questions and made the whole planning process so easy and stress-free. We were also so lucky to have such a memorable atmosphere on the day, with so many of the Mayo family celebrating after their All-Ireland win, and then the darts players who were staying and playing upstairs coming down and joining in with the celebrations. It was such an unexpected and brilliant addition to the day and made the wedding even more memorable! The hotel itself was beautiful, the staff were incredible, and everything was handled so professionally while still feeling warm and personal. We would highly recommend Woodford Dolmen for weddings, and especially Claire, to anyone looking for a beautiful venue and someone who genuinely goes above and beyond to help with the planning and make your special day perfect. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ What a lovely surprise! We booked the Woodford Dolmen Hotel on a bit of a whim while visiting Carlow for a training weekend, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of the trip. The hotel itself is beautiful, with stunning grounds, a river running through the property, and little hidden gems like the fairy garden that make it feel really special. We were lucky enough to see a wedding taking place while we were there, and the venue looked absolutely incredible. Every member of staff we met was welcoming, friendly, and couldn’t do enough to help. You genuinely felt looked after from the moment you arrived. Our room was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. The only slight challenge was that we happened to visit during a 30°C heatwave, so the room was a little warm overnight. That said, a fan was provided and, to be fair, Ireland isn’t exactly known for tropical weather! Overall, we had a fantastic stay. Beautiful surroundings, excellent service, and a great base for exploring the area. We’d happily stay here again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone visiting Carlow.

Lovely meal. Average prices and portions. Most staff extremely friendly, one a tad off but were busy at the time tbh. Parking very convenient. Grounds very well kept. Would return.
