I did this tour as a solo female traveler and had a great time! I saw so many animals, and Bagena was very knowledgeable and knew all the right spots. I was also overcharged at the park, and Bagena kept in touch with me as well as the park to make sure I got my refund. I felt very safe and taken care of! I recommend this company : )

You will have an early morning breakfast and drive to Akagera National Park, the park lies in eastern Rwanda, hugging the border with Tanzania. It's characterized by woodland, swamps, low mountains, and savannah. In the southern part of the park, vast Lake Ihema is home to hippos and crocodiles.

We had an amazing time visiting Akagera Park from Kigali. Beautiful scenery and we saw many animals. Zidane, our guide, was very knowledgeable. We’re planning a future trip with them and would recommend to friends.
The Akagera Safari with Wild Hikes Rwanda was genuinely one of the most beautiful experiences I’ve ever had. Our guide Bagena made sure we had a lovely day, looking for all our favourite animals in the park and giving us interesting facts about them and about Rwanda. He was very knowledgable and happily answered all our questions. We learnt a lot and loved the Safari, absolutely recommended!
Our guide, Bagena, was super considerate and prioritized what we wanted to see. He had nice insights on the animals, yet allowed us to enjoy the beauty of the park in calm. I highly recommend this tour company! This has been an unforgettably beautiful experience!
I’ve just finished a 1-day tour of Akagena Park. Bagena, our travel guide, was caring and had a lot of experience with the park. We saw many animals (4 of the big five) due to his willingness to make it happen!
We took the whole trip through Akangera. From the very South until the North. The lions were sleeping during the day. We saw lots of zebras, antilopen, waterbuffels, other antilopes, hippo's and elephants. Amazing was a leopard just before starting to hunt. Service was great stops for Coffee and lunch just on time. Net trip will be for all these brilliant birds and the Lions and maybe a rhino. Thans for everything and interesting explanations.
Wow! What an experience. My guide Bagena went above and beyond to make sure I had a great time. I told him I loved elephants. He asked other guides, searched places he was familiar the elephants roamed, and…we saw the elephants!! As a matter of fact we saw all of the big 5 and then some. Bagena was so knowledgeable about the wildlife. And, he stopped so I could shop a bit at the cultural arts & crafts shop. The experience was wonderful and since I couldn’t afford the gorilla trek it was the next best thing. Rwanda is such a beautiful country. The contrast between the red clay dirt and the greenery was breathtaking. I recommend it for sure.
I was thoroughly impressed with this tour. The scenery was stunning and seeing this beautiful animals in their natural habitat was awesome. The lunch provided was near the lake with a gorgeous view. Taufique was an incredible tour guide he was professional, personable, and very courteous. The pick up from the hotel was prompt and the long drive seem less so, because of his demeanor and conversation. He would answer any and all questions regarding Akagera National Park and Rwanda. You can tell that he is passionate and cares about making sure that the visitor has a memorable experience. This is a one on one tour. It should be noted, that, I am a proud introvert and Taufique provide me with just enough space to allow me to absorb the experience at my pace. I left with a great experience. I would highly recommend him and this tour.
Had a wonderful experience…The driver/tour guide was so kind…it was truly amazing…would want to do it again with family and friends
Great tour, would highly recommend! My guide, Fiston, was very nice and knowledgeable of the park, we ended up seeing so many animals (including 4 of the big 5)!
It was super! The driver/guide and assistant are so nice and have keen eyes on hidden animals, which we novices cannot notice immediately. They guided us tirelessly until late. It is convenient that it is held from 1 person (my friend did that alone, and we followed his recommendation). I mean, it is convenient that each can book online without a money transfer among your group. Among the big 5, we managed to closely watch rhinos 🦏, buffalos 🦬, and an elephant 🐘! Just by 1-day tour! (The friend, who went alone before us, was even luckier to closely watch lions 🦁 in the 1-day tour!) We also closely encountered numerous zebras 🦓, hippos 🦛, Neil crocodiles 🐊, antelopes 🦌 (impalas, waterbucks, topis), wild bores 🐗, and baboons 🐒. We also saw, from some distances, a few zebras 🦒 and the body of an impala on a tree supposedly hung by a leopard 🐆. To conclude, I recommend this tour strongly!
Very kind driver and guide. They teach us animals which is very difficult to find by ourselves. For example, we could not recognize crocodiles unless they told us. Finally, we could be an elephant. We were happy.
I had a great Akagera safari drive with my guide, Bagena. We saw 4 of the big 5, and so many other animals! Bagena was very knowledgeable and communicative, the cafe lunch was delicious and the market we stopped at on the drive there and back was great! This was honestly the best deal, and I highly recommend booking this safari!
I had a wonderful one day akagera tour. My tour guide was amazing. Very personable and friendly and went out of his way to make me feel accommodated and welcome in his country. The actual tour was very nice too, all of my questions were answered and the lunch provided was lovely. Finally he ensured I was dropped safely back. Would recommend to anyone who doesn't want to take a risk on a cheaper less established tour - bear in mind this was a one to one tour so I wasn't having to share with other tourists.
We had a great day out in the park with an experienced guide, that managed to find most of the animals in the park.
Diddy was amazing! I told him I would be an easy customer, because I most wanted to see zebras (which remind me of my late mother) and giraffes (my dad’s favorite animal), which are both plentiful in the park. I said it’d be amazing to see the Big Five, especially elephants, but it’d be easy to make me happy no matter what. He promptly called his guide friends to find where the elephants were today. Him: “I will ONLY be satisfied after finding an elephant for you.” Me, repeatedly: “I promise it’s okay! I am so happy with what we saw.” It didn’t look promising. Finally, we were at the exit gate. We’d seen most of the Big 5 and a bajillion zebras and giraffes, but no elephant. I went to use the washroom before the 3-hour drive back to Kigali. I came out to find Diddy and another guide shouting and gesturing: “Elephant! BIG elephant!” Indeed, it was. Thank you, Diddy, for my elephant. I will remember it, and you, for the rest of my life. You were an excellent guide and gave me a perfect day.
We had an an incredible safari with Wild Hikes Rwanda. The Guide was super friendly, we had a very special day in the wild
That was a great experience! I decided to extend this activity to two days. The game drives with Zidane were excelent. Event during rainy season we managed to spot a lot of animals (including a number of elephants). I took also a boat ride which was a hit. I fully recommend Wild Hikes Rwanda, they are dedicated in 120% in what they are doing.
Thank you to Zidane and Hassan for taking us all to Akagera Park. Full day activity where we got to see lots of animals, nice journey there and back in the comfy safari jeep. Both we very knowledgable about the area and super helpful. Due to such a great trip, we booked again for a cultural day to the Gorilla Guardians in the north and travelled over for a boat trip at Lake Kivu where we experienced hot springs and got to see more of the volcanoes. Would highly recommend this tour company, especially Zidane and Hassan as they know Rwanda inside out! Thanks again guys!
Such an amazing experience! The safari guide was so personable and knowledgeable! I would definitely recommend! The guide really tried to help me find the animals I wanted to see!
Me and my family went to Rwanda whilst it unfortunately went into lockdown (covid), however, our tour guide Celine did her absolute best to still make it a most enjoyable holiday for us! We are very thankful for her effort and the good times. Can't wait to experience Rwanda again in its full glory, will definitely be contacting Wild Hikes Rwanda again.
