Awesome experience! Our guide Kevin was excellent, very safe and smooth driving. Very good English and eyes of an eagle to spot wildlife. We were very lucky, we spotted the entire big five in one day. Thanks for once-in-a-lifetime experience!

I had an excellent experience with Countryside Tours. Communication wirh the manager was smooth and professional from start to finish, and the driver Kevin was incredibly kind and attentive. Everything was well organized, and I felt taken care of throughout the trip. Kevin was knowledgeable, friendly, and made the safari even more enjoyable. Highly recommended!
I did a day trip and it was superb. Jean Paul made sure I saw everything I wanted to see and also close up. It was all well organised from pick up/drop off to lunch. Booking the tour was easy and quick - you can pay by card online. It is a long day so bear that in mind.
We had such an incredible safari day trip with our tour guides Jean Paul and Jack. They were so knowledgeable about everything in the park, and helped us to find everything we wanted to see including the Big 5! Wonderful wonderful day!
Everything about this safari was great. Before the safari even began, Olivier was very helpful and answered all of my questions very quickly. The morning of the safari, our guide Jean-Paul, arrived right on time and was very kind. Amazing service throughout. We always had plenty of cold water to drink. He answered any questions we had and he pointed out animals we would have never seen on our own. He made sure we were safe the entire time. Thank you for the unforgettable experience!
The Vehicle was great, driver was over and above fantastic. The drive was superb and got to see Hippos, Crocs, Zebra, Giraffes, Rhino, lots of birds and more.... Missed the elephants, lions, I guess they were a bit busy that day :)
I had the chance to witness all the big 5 due to the knowledge of my tour guide. I spent there 2 nights and it was incredible, all the credit to Emmanuel my tour guide, he is professional and punctual i would recommend him to anyone coming to rwanda. This is his contact +250785019310
We had a great experience with Jean Paul. He did all he could to accomodate our wishes and didn't give up from loocking for our favourite animals until he found it.
I had a lovely time with Bosco and learnt a lot from him! He was so good and so quick at spotting the animals, and tries his best to locate your favourite/most anticipated wildlife. The Akagera national park focuses on conservation of wildlife and sustainability with the communities living around it. I highly recommend visiting with Countryside tours.
Our group of 23 individuals participated in the 1-day Boat Ride and Game Drive at Akagera National Park. Olivier Kanyabikali at Countryside Tours made this trip such a wonderful experience in every way. His communication was top notch. He and his team picked up our large group from our hotel. Each tour driver was very accommodating, welcoming, knowledgeable, kind and professional. We had the time of our lives! The Safari exceeded my expectations in every way. Akagera is beautiful! We saw hippos, white and black rhinos, giraffes, zebras, elephants, baboons, buffalos, Nile crocodiles, warthogs, impalas and many other antelopes. We also saw many different bird species including giant kingfishers, grey crowned cranes, African fish eagles, spoonbills and many other rare birds. They worked together as a team to ensure we saw as many animals as possible. I would 100% recommend Countryside Tours for this tour.
I took this trip towards the end of my visit to Uganda and Rwanda. It proved to be a great way of book ending my time in East Africa. Akagera is a precious gem on the Rwanda / Tanzania border. I was lucky enough to see elephant, lion (just about), hippos, giraffes up close, cape buffalo, baboon, African fish eagle, zebra and Nile crocodiles. Seeing all of this is not guaranteed of course but my guide Ben was very informative and knew how to try different routes to give the best chance. I met other tourers along the way and the boat safari was a highlight among many highlights. Innocent the 'skipper' displayed a great passion for conservation. With 8 billion of us, we need more spaces in the world like Akagera. I would definitely recommend Countryside Tours, Like I said Ben the driver was informed and helpful and Oliver has been clear and frequent in communicating back and forth with any queries I had. Murakoze.
First time in Kigali and first time at Akagera National Park. It was amazing! Our tour guide Ben was the best tour guide we could ask for. He was very accommodating, welcoming, and knowledgeable. Very funny guy and knows the ins and outs of the park. Definitely would recommend. Thank you Ben for a wonderful experience!
What a memorable day exploring the Akagera National park to catch the big 5 or how we like to call them the big 5 and the medium 5. Our tour guide was a very professional and knowledgeable young man. A walking Wikipedia with the necessary tools of an expert safari guide; binoculars and encyclopedias. I did other safaris later and looking back, I can see the high quality of the one in Akagera! I learned so so much about animals, wildlife, Rwanda and its fauna that on other tours I could easily take the role of a guide just by sharing the information I learned on this 1day game drive. we felt comfortable and in good hands, he always respected our wish if we wanted to make small changes to the original plan. All in all, big thank you! 🙏🏼
Beautiful driving through the reserve and seeing the animals in their natural habitat. Boat ride was awesome. My guide Ben was truly helpful
My driver was exceptional. He knew all the names of the birds and the trees. He stopped whenever I was interested in anything and I was interested in everything. What struck me most was the abundance of birds and butterflies. The boat ride was exceptional also. A young male elephant decided to wade out into the lake for breakfast. It seemed unfazed by our presence. That was probably the closest I've ever been to an elephant. Be sure to talk to Innocent who is the captain of the boat as he is so nice and knowledgeable about the wildlife. I purchased his book at the gift store about the elephant orphans. I was so happy this day trip was possible. It is a long day, so be prepared. The driver does stop often to stretch your legs and to use the toilet. One thing I should have prepared for was the insects. There are tsetse flies and mosquitoes and I should have sprayed insecticide on my body. I saw about every animal possible except the elusive lion. There is a large savannah at the north end of the park and it was like a scene from the movies. You could see giraffe, impala, rhinos, elephants all together. It was really a memorable and enjoyable trip!
The ride was amazing, our tour guide was beyond wonderful, how he explained each and every animals was beyond amazing
An excellent day. Our guide/driver Alfa was knowledgeable and made sure we saw as many animals as possible. Good packed lunch and coffee stop on journey there and back. Very comfortable car. Would strongly recommend this trip.
An outstanding experience! The guides were wonderful. The boat ride and game drive allowed me to see wildlife from many different angles.
We had a fantastic trip thanks to Emile, who was an exceptional guide. His knowledge and enthusiasm made the experience truly memorable, and we would highly recommend him to others. Thank you, Emile!
Tito was a brilliant guide and driver - and it was a long day. Half way through there was a thunderstorm, making the route impossible, but heading back the way we came meant we saw elephant, which we’d missed going in. A great day trip.
It was a great day and a great tour with Olivier and our tour guide Dominique. I had a tour with Olivier last sunday, which happened to be during the rainy season, so the tour was with some extra adventures - i.e. getting stuck in the mud next to savannah and having a short-to-medium walk to the car once it got pushed out of the mud with the help of park employees. However, Oliver and Dominique remained calm and managed the situation in a very professional manner and everything was solved without any major issues. I guess major takeaway here would be to be extra careful during the rainy season and perhaps try to time your visit on a month with low rainfall. The safari itself, needless to say, was amazing - we saw elephants, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffes, zebras, baboons, Pumba & Timon, buffalos, python, antelopes and other animals. We only missed out on the lions due to getting stuck, but I'd be happy to come back again for them and I would go with Olivier again, who was very helpful and nice throughout. Also big compliments to our tour guide Dominique, who was extremely knowledgeable about all of the animals and patiently answered all of my questions about animal hunting and drinking patterns and more :)
Cheers to countryside tour and especially guide Jean Paul for a great experience!! First time to do a safari, and loved it
Countryside Tours provided a convenient and comfortable way to see all of Akagera National Park in just one day, starting and ending in Kigali. Customer service was superb. Our guide, Jean Paul (JP), was a real champion! He patiently encouraged photos everywhere, making whatever vehicle position adjustments necessary to get the best shots. We have amazing photos of all the big animals. Thank you Countryside and JP!
Yves with Countryside Tours was absolutely the best. He arrived on time and answered all of our questions. Countryside was very responsive and informative of what was needed and what to expect. Yves was very knowledgeable of all the different species of animals we saw on our tour of Akagera National Park. I wouldn’t hesitation to book another tour with Yves. It’s easy to see why Countryside have so many 5 star reviews.
My guide was knowledgeable and friendly — I didn’t think I was going to be able to see Akagera on this short trip and am delighted with my day trip. It is an amazing park and seeing it this way was easy and fun!
Very nice experience. The driver was experienced and knew very much about the park and animals. We found all the major big animals Giraffes, Elephants, Hippos, Zebras etc. We had an experience to see from quite short distance 18 giraffes in one herd.
George is the best guide. He knew the answer to every question I had and was able to show me so many animals. Incredible experience and George made it that much better.
Really good trip. Saw elephants, giraffes, impalas, hippos, rhinos (from far away!), monkeys, zebras and much more. Plus the “cultural centre” was actually a pretty good food and gift shop unlike many of the places you often find. Really good guide (Patric) who was very enthusiastic and kept it together for the whole ~17hr day of driving!!! We’ll worth the money and the tip we gave him!
I thoroughly enjoyed this day trip to Akagera Park. It was a bright sunny day although we are right in the middle of the Rainy Season, and many animals - including the elusive lions and elephants - came out of the bushes to look at us with curiosity (or cool indifference) and posed for photos. Countryside Tour was safe, clean, reliable and delivered excellent customer service. I’m sharing some of the photos I took with just my phone.
I enjoyed the safari with Oliver and Sharif. It was my first safari experience and throughout the entire time Oliver was professional, communicative and transparent. Sharif is an attentive driver and seems to be passionate about his job. I traveled alone as a solo female and never felt uncomfortable or threatened. Both of them seem to enjoy their professions and are quite knowledgeable on the history of Akagera, the animals and so on. It was a pleasant experience and I highly recommend Countryside Tours Rwanda to my friends and family.
I got extremely fortunate with booking this particular activity, which exceeded all my expectations. From start to end, the communication with Olivier was top notch. He turned out to be very punctual, accommodating and interesting. His driving skills were superb and the vehicle we were in - reasonably comfortable. The actual game drive was great with many stories shared and a large number of wildlife, including lions, spotted. I would strongly recommend Olivier and his company if you are checking out the Akagera game drive.
