Nice views, nice swimming pool. That’s all. Service is as slow as a snail, the food is low quality, and the prices for drinks will make you cry (12k for an orange juice). Simply not worth it, unless you work next door and it’s convenient to visit. Cheaper and better at 5 star Marriott, Sheraton, Mille Collines, all around the corner from this place. It could be a great hotel / restaurant / bar, but that would require the owner to care.

Giving 2 stars because I keep having issues in spite of being a long staying guest ..wrong name on my room booking (so what was the point of photocopying my passport) which gave me billing issues, they gave me a room next to the lift in spite of asking for a quieter place from the onset with lukewarm shower water, deactivated key card and yet my stay is for 11 days...and they're nonchalant ...I should say downright uncaring in spite of me giving feedback 😒 I am still at the hotel wondering what other problems await me. The great views and food cannot compensate for poor service 😤
I recently spent three days on a business trip in Kigali and stayed at Ubumwe Grande Hotel, and I must say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish! The hospitality stood out the most — every staff member I interacted with was incredibly kind, professional, and attentive. They made me feel genuinely welcome throughout my stay. My shared room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, with all the essentials provided. The space was peaceful and conducive for both rest and work. I appreciated how tidy everything was and how quickly housekeeping responded to requests. The food was another highlight! The restaurant offered a wide variety of delicious meals — from the buffet breakfast to the dinners, everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The rooftop restaurant also offers an amazing view of Kigali, making each meal even more enjoyable. The hotel’s facilities were top-notch, with a great ambiance for business travelers. The Wi-Fi was reliable, the environment calm, and the location perfect — central, safe, and with easy access to key places in the city. Overall, my stay at Ubumwe Grande Hotel was comfortable, refreshing, and productive. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Kigali, whether for business or leisure. I look forward to staying here again on my next trip!
Ubumwe Grande Hotel is a great place in the city center for food, sleep, and conferences. I’ve been here several times for food, and recently I also attended a conference. For the conference side, we used one of the Kivu rooms on the second floor. The room was very comfortable, with good air-conditioning, a nice atmosphere, and reliable internet (both wired and wireless). The staff were also very supportive, which is not something you find everywhere in Kigali. For the restaurants, I’ve tried the one on the first floor (pictured below). When I was there, it was a buffet with a good variety of food, and everything I had was delicious. The view from the restaurant is also nice since you can see the city center below. The rooftop restaurant has an even better view. Because it’s higher up and open, you can see almost the whole city beneath you. I haven’t properly tried the food there yet, but from what I’ve heard, it’s also very good. I’ll definitely go back to try it myself.
If you want GREAT views and HORRIBLE food, you’ve come to the right place. Ubumwe boasts a very calm and relaxing atmosphere to take in Kigali’s skyline! The food on the other hand? Our pizza was dry, tasteless, and just topped with hard cheese. Would only recommend for afternoon tea or something along those lines.
