Best Western Santaka

Our initial room had beds that could only be described as camp beds. The 2nd room (newer part) was wonderful. It had a separate loo, which I now think should be in all hotel rooms! The staff were lovely, in particular the receptionist who immediately made us feel welcomed and who found us a different room without any hassle. On-site parking at very reasonable rate.

Nice hotel in a very center. Perhaps a bit old- fashioned, but nice. But- if you are a light sleeper, maybe best to be avoided. Noise levels from the street are quite high. Especially if you have a window open. Cars, party-people ect. Be prepared that maintenance guy of the house opposite might decide to start mowing his lawn at 6 in the morning. But you also have a nice opportunity to enjoy the birds singing :) They don't have air conditioning, but there was a fan in the room and with windows open the temperature was perfectly good even during the heat wave. They have a nippy tiny lift and a book shelf with totally random selection of books in the lobby for customers. Breakfast was perfectly fine, just that the room layout caused a bit of a queue by the coffee machines. On the other hand- you can have your breakfast, sitting in the winter garden, which is very nice. Free parking is available in the courtyard. But it might be full, if you arrive too late. Local Iki shop is basically around the corner for emergency evening snacks. Overall experience was very good or this review wouldn't be that long 🙂

Horrible experience at the hotel. I booked the King's bedroom, and you can see what they call a King's bedroom in the pictures. What they advertised on booking.com is not what's on the ground; even the menu is different from what they served. I was thoroughly disappointed. What's more? They had construction work right across the bedroom throughout my stay, and you could hear it going on till late at night, around 11pm. The King's bedroom is right next to the reception, so you could hear everything: the staff counting money, people walking by, and even construction. I'd requested a quiet room, but was told they didn't have one available. They tried to change the room, but it was right across from the lift, so you could hear people getting on and off. So I declined as it didn't meet my requirements. When I asked a staff member to test the noise level, she blatantly told me I was being rude, even though I had asked politely. Other than these things, the hotel is in a good location for both the old and new towns, so you can easily get around, but I say I had a better experience with people outside the hotel than in the hotel. I couldn't sleep throughout my stay due to the noise, the old room and the uncomfortable bed. I've had better experiences with other Best Western hotels in other countries, but this was a nightmare. I will not recommend this hotel to my family and friends, nor will I return.

Central location. Own parking lot. Quiet and calm. Breakfast buffet is nice. There are two (slow) coffee machines. If there is no queue for coffee, hurry up and make yourself a coffee immediately. Rooms are comfortable and fancy. The layout of the hotel can be confusing. And the rumour has it that some quests who checked in back in the 1990s never found their way back to the reception area and have starved to death somewhere in the corridors. There is no smell of rotting bodies, though, so I don't believe the rumours. Charming and very helpful staff both at the front desk and at the breakfast room. I look forward to staying here again.
