What a great truly Hawaiian experience! My wife and I truly enjoyed our trip with our guide Levy! An energetic, knowledgable guy with very informative history stories. At our turn around he entertained us with his ukelele and Hawaiian songs riverside!! We were unable to do the hike due to hurricane damage but we still a wonderful time on the river! Highly recommended!

Itinerary
Start your day right at our kiosk for check-in, located at Coconut Marketplace right beneath the iconic water tower.
Embark on a guided hike through the verdant trails of Wailua State Park to discover the enchanting Uluwehi Falls. The journey takes you along a scenic path, mostly boardwalk —winding through tropical foliage and over gentle streams—until you arrive at the captivating falls, where the lush surroundings and cascading water create a truly memorable experience.
There is a reason Kauai is considered the Garden Isle—lush jungles, scenic waterways, and cascading waterfalls set against dramatic volcanic mountains create the perfect tropical backdrop. While there are many ways to explore this natural wonder, kayaking uniquely lets you experience the many facets of this island paradise. Your kayak exploration of the Wailua begins with a two-mile paddle up Kauai’s only navigable river. Your friendly, local guide will help you find the best routes as you pass through Kamokila Village and toward the north fork of the river, sharing stories of the early Hawaiians who first paddled these waters over 1,500 years ago. After your paddle, you’ll step off your kayak for a moderate hike through a lush rainforest along the secret falls trail, until you reach a stunning 120-foot cascade plummeting down a mountain cliff. Finally, you’ll paddle back to your starting point, ending your tour with cherished photos and memories of an unforgettable adventure.

The guide seemed to have no interest speaking with us. The hiking activity was removed due to hurricane damage but it should be indicated on booking site. Some tours made it clear.
The tour was as wonderful as I expected. The river was beautiful. The hike was easy. The falls were spectacular. The water was warmer than I expected. That was a nice surprise. Ty, our guide, was great I loved the tour.
We went in this adventure for our friends 70th birthday adventure. We all had a blast!!! Levi was the best!
Bring your bathing suit and water shoes with traction. The tour guide Levi is great! He has a great voice and knowledge.
Our family had an absolute unforgettable experience with Levi and I highly recommend this trip for any group who is visiting this beautiful island! The kayaking was peaceful and increased our excitement for the views we would see on the hike, while our guide was educated and had the experience to answer all our questions. When we started the hike we got to learn about the cultures traditions and ways to honor and give gratitude to the land and all the nature spirits holding us. Levi sang a traditional offering song as well as beautiful well known songs as we adventured through the jungle. At the waterfall we all had a beautiful experience with the power and beauty of the water and had time to eat our lunch in a place I will always remember. The entire experience was a comfortable effort physically that none of us had any issues with and hope to have the opportunity to experience this excursion again. 10 out of 10
Ty was an excellent guide. Timing and logistics were fantastic. We arrived at the falls just before a large crowd, making for great photos. My 75 year old father, my 7 year old daughter, and everyone in between loved it. Definitely a highlight of our Kauai trip.
Amazing tour. Levi was one of the best guides ever. He was attentive, funny, and provided great musical entertainment the entire trip. Definitely a must do.
Daniel was an amazing guide! He was extremely knowledgeable about Kauai, the history, nature, and everything we saw along the way. He made the kayak and hike fun, interesting, and memorable, while making sure everyone felt comfortable and safe. You can really tell he loves what he does and enjoys sharing his knowledge with others. We had such a great experience with Daniel and would definitely recommend him! 🌺🌴🛶
Tor guide Levi was amazing! Falls are beautiful. Great experience. We have done it twice now. Be ready to be tired but amazed at the views
We had an amazing time with Tyler! He was incredibly knowledgeable of the land, and all of it's history. He was also very friendly and laid back. The Kayaking was 2 miles at a calm pace and the hike is about 40mins and totally flat. Definitely wear water shoes or waterproof hiking boots bc you walk through water. Do not wear crocs or sandals bc you will slip during the muddy parts of the hike. The waterfall is beautiful. Highly recommend!
Great experience, just the right mix of adventure and nature. Daniel was our guide and helped us navigate how to kayak. He shared info on the flora and fauna. We even got to meet some of his feathered friends. We packed a lunch to take they provide some snacks, water and dry bags. Embrace the mud and enjoy the adventure! Go early the trail and river get pretty busy and less enjoyable. Expect $5 per person admission to the park in addition to the tour.
My 82 year old mother, myself and two adult children ages 25 & 22 really enjoyed this tour. We had to be patient with my mother but she was able to do it!! Thank you to our guide Levy for being extremely patient, playing the ukulele, singing & teaching us more about our surroundings. Thank you Levy, you were amazing!!
We (family from the Netherlands) had a great time with our kayaking/hiking tour to the secret falls. Good balance between beautifull nature, kayaking and hiking. Levi was a wonderfull and nice guide (played ukelele during hiking). Thanks Levi
Great experience. It gets very muddy and slippery in places, so have proper footwear. It is a fun, relaxing day. Thank you Levi for being our guide. You made our day much more pleasurable.
Ty was a wonderful guide. We happened to go out on a day with heavy rain during most of the trip. He kept checking water levels to make sure we were safe and made the best out of the rough weather. Beautiful scenery. I’d recommend going as early as possible to beat the crowds to the waterfall.
The highlight of our trip! Levi was an exceptional guide. He led us through our hike barefoot while playing the ukulele. He is a native Hawaiian whose passion for his home was clearly conveyed! Our excursion took place during some moderate rain, but it definitely enhanced our experience. Kayaking through the river in the rain was an incredible experience and kept us cool. The rain also caused some serious mud, which also made the hike more fun to trek through. The final waterfall point was gorgeous and the pictures don’t do it justice. I would definitely recommend wearing water shoes or old shoes you are OK throwing away after (especially if there’s rain). I would also recommend bringing a water case/bag for your phone so that you can take pictures on the kayak or near the waterfall without worrying about damaging your phone. Lastly, the kayaking and hike are not difficult overall but the rain made the hike incredibly slippery, so I would be prepared for that. Definitely recommend booking this experience!!
It does take physical labor, especially the kayak. There is a lot of mud!! Can be slippery and dirty lol. Tyler our guide was beyond amazing! Pointed out so much along the trek even the must places to eat while we were in the van ride over! He was insightful, enjoyable and a pure delight.
The kayak trip is very taxing and the hike through the muddy trails very difficult and requires very good balance. I slipped and fell four times. Our guide, Levi, was outstanding and played/sang for us the entire hike.
We went early in the morning for less boat traffic, which was a good call. We didn't get to see the waterfall due to flash flood warning but we were grateful to the guide for being conservative about keeping us safe. Note that the inbound kayak is against the current, and the outbound is against the trade wind, so at least one person in the kayak should be reasonably capable of consistent rowing. Would do this again.
Great time and we really enjoyed our guide Ty.
The Wailua River Kayak and Hike was our kids' favorite activity in Kauai this trip! Levi was our tour guide and he was amazing. He was positive, funny, musical, and interactive. He taught us about different native plants and their uses, and made sure everyone in our group stayed together during the kayaking. We highly recommend!
Our guide, Levi, was professional, fun, and so knowledgeable. He created a sense of community with the group and he kept the vibes high. I would recommend anyone coming to Kauai to get on a trip!
Beautiful views … family friendly… pack lunch for at the waterfall! wear water shoes for easier hike…
Levi, our guide, made this adventure even better by playing the ukulele and singing. He was friendly, funny, and made sure everyone was ok along the way. I LOVED the hike!
My wife and I had a great time! We are in our mid 60’s and we were a little cautious about this adventure, but it is definitely doable. Levi was an awesome tour guide and entertainer! He brought a ukulele and played lots of great songs!! Was very knowledgeable and funny. What was most impressive was he did the whole trip in bare feet. Make sure you have good shoes, that you can get wet and muddy! It’s a 6 hour and 7 mile round trip. The Secret Falls were beautiful and the water was refreshing and invigorating!!!
Loved this tour and Levi, our guide, made the experience very enjoyable and memorable!!! Levi played the ukelele and sang along the way and he’s really good!!! This company is very organized and made things fun and easy. The kayaking was beautiful on the calm river, but it did require some 💪for me. The hike was shaded and fairly easy with one stream/river crossing. You do get wet. The waterfall area is beautiful and refreshing. A very unique experience. Aloha!
Tyler was a great guide and coach - fun and educational! Great time with the kayaking, hiking and swimming!
Beautiful journey- Levi was an amazing guide. Highly recommend as a must do!
Levi was a great guide. Muddy but worth the time.
Ask for Daniel, he had so much good information and fun facts! It was pretty muddy in certain areas so bring appropriate footwear! We had a blast.
If you want to experience the nature of Kauai this is the activity for you. You will meet your guide a Cocoanut Market Place. We were fortunate to have Levi as our fearless leader. He was knowledgeable, fun, safe, and he played the ukulele and sang during the entire hike portion of the trip! Will you be tired at the end of the time? Yes! Is it totally worth it? Yes!!! You will kayak two miles in and two miles out (against the wind on this part). The hike is 1.5 in and back. The trail is muddy so wear old clothes and shoes but as Levi said, "Embrace the mud!". Thanks again Levi for a great way to experience the beauty of Kauai.
This was one of the best moments of our whole Kauai trip! Daniel was an excellent guide! He was a great teacher to beginner kayaks and offered excellent nature facts along the hike. He got the group well acquainted and made the group feel like “Ohana” for the length of our trip! The hike is a bit muddy but well worth the challenge for the views, and very doable even as a beginner. This is a must do for your trip to Kauai!
Very exciting, make sure you have proper footwear for a trail hike. You have to do a river crossing and walk through potential muddy terrain. Flip flops won’t cut it.
Daniel was a great guide. Informative, engaging and kept the group moving along. I am new to kayaking and his instructions were straightforward and supportive. Family of four (college age kids) and kayaking and hike to the waterfall was the perfect last day of the trip adventure. The trail is a mix of mud, boardwalk and rocks. I appreciated the walking stick for the mud and river crossing. Hiking type sandal shoes for this trip will make the day better.
It was a great experience! Would be helpful if you did kayak before but levi gave amazing demonstrations if you did not. If you have issues with walking of any kind, i would recommend sitting this one out. Levi also brought his own hawaiian flare which made it a more memorable experience. We loved it all!
Levi was amazing! He gave a fabulous tour! We did a 2 mile kayak trip where we then parked our kayaks and took a trail to the secret falls. We went May 22 and it has been very wet and rainy. The river we crossed to start our hike was thigh high and the trail was extremely muddy and slippery. People who have issues walking should probably sit this one out. My husband and I loved it! Levi brought his ukulele and it added a special touch to the adventure. He taught us all about the hawaiian plants and culture. Once we reached the falls, we had 30 mins - 1 hr at the falls. They provided us with 2 water bottles and 2 snacks. I suggest bringing sandwiches for more of a lunch. The hike was probably about 2 hours total (1 hr there and 1 hr back). Then we kayaked 2 miles back. It was a great workout and the scenery was beautiful!
This is an amazing tour! Ty was an engaging and knowledgeable guide. He shared many details about the island and its culture. The hike to the waterfall was beautiful; however, the tour description left out some key details that would be important for those with balance, mobility, or stamina issues. Be prepared to walk across a river with rocky footing and swift current, trek trails with slippery mud, roots, and rocks. Parts of the trail involve climbing up and down rock paths with no clear footing. The kayak trip back can be challenging in windy conditions. If you’re up for an adventure in authentic Hawaiian landscape, this is a great tour for you!
Had an amazing time on the secret waterfall kayak/hike trip! Levi was an entertaining guide who safely got us to/from the waterfall. He was very helpful during the river crossings and muddy parts of the hike as well as informative and fun with facts about the trail/Hawaii and some great ukulele songs! The pickup location was easy and allowed us to grab snacks and use the bathrooms before and after the trip. The dry bag, snacks, and waters provided were a very nice addition to the tour as well!
This is a great way to get some good exercise in Paradise. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history and local customs of Hawaii
Levi was a GREAT tour guide!!!
It was a great kayaking trip, easy hiking and not hard level of kayaking. Very nice and experienced tour guy!
Awesome experience. Levi was a great and unique guide singing and playing the ukulele.
Levi was an amazing guide filled with knowledge and jokes and conversation. He made the hike and the kayak that much more special. Definitely worth the work out to get to the falls. It was beautiful.
One of the best things we did on Kauai. Very happy we did this with KA. The kayak was peaceful, the hike was very pleasant, but the waterfall was something else. Our guide Ty was extra friendly and informative throughout the trip. The guide you always want on any trip to make it special. Note the paddle back is into the wind, so be sure to save some energy for that.
Excellent experience, our guide, Levi, did a great job. Highly recommend for a little exercise and education on Hawaiian culture and beauty of the area. Waterfall was a highlight for sure.
We had a fantastic time!! Ty is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to local history & to the wildlife & plants you come across while on your tour. The waterfall doesn’t disappoint & the hike isn’t too difficult.
My husband and I had such an incredible experience on this adventure. Our guide, Levi, truly made the day special with his upbeat personality, great sense of humor, and deep knowledge of the area. He brought such a fun energy to the group—even playing the ukulele and singing during the hike, which made the experience feel even more unique and memorable. Along the trail, Levi shared so much interesting information about his culture, Hawaiian words and traditions, which added a meaningful cultural layer to the excursion. We absolutely loved learning some new words and the history and culture of the island. Since we both enjoy outdoor activities like hiking and kayaking, we found the experience to be a great balance of adventure and enjoyment. The hike itself was absolutely beautiful, with stunning scenery the entire way to the waterfall. Having lunch by the falls and taking a refreshing swim in the natural pool afterward was definitely a highlight. Overall, this was an unforgettable experience and one of our favorite activities during our trip. This tour definitely exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend this tour, especially if you’re looking for a fun, scenic, and culturally enriching adventure. Thank you, Levi, for making it such a wonderful day.
My wife and I had a great time on this tour! It was our first time kayaking and we found it not too challenging. Our guide, Ty, was awesome. He took the time to point out trees, wildlife, etc., he was extremely knowledgeable about the island and its culture and heritage. The hike to the falls was straightforward and the falls itself was amazing. Would highly recommend this tour and Kayak Adventures!
