Haʻena State Park is the end of the road on Kauai’s North Shore. Top highlights include Keʻe Beach, Tunnels Beach/Haʻena Beach Park, and the Kalalau Trail, the gateway to the Nā Pali Coast. Kapaʻa is one of Kauai’s liveliest east-side towns, with plenty of local food spots, shops, and shave ice stops. The area is also a wildlife refuge where visitors can often spot seabirds. Advance reservations are required for Kīlauea Point National Wildlife Refuge, which is closed Sunday to Tuesday, so visitors should check availability and book ahead. But this can also be a good beach to watch surfers if the swell is running. Or give in to relaxation and find a shady tree overlooking Kapa'a Beach to take a nap!

Absolutely phenomenal! Learned and saw so much!
We didn't realize before we got to the island that our 2 year old wouldn't be allowed on any tours so we had to find an alternative. This worked out really well. The guide was entertaining and informative. Definitely worth the price.
Great tool! We enjoyed it. It was cool to drive thru Kaui, sight see and hear the history narrated by an expert guide. I recommend it.
Excellent GUIDE ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫Kauai Self-Guided Audio Driving Tour. Drive, listen, stop , enjoy the views and repeat.
Great self driving audio tour. First time trying it and will be purchasing another for an upcoming trip.
This was so fun. There were a few errors, like Opaeka'a Falls is a fairly significant detour that the guide says is free but is actually $5/person + $10/car. But mostly everything was really accurate and fun to do. We found some locations we would have never known about otherwise and Toast has a good sense of humor. (We called the guide Toast since he doesn't introduce himself). We're already looking forward to trying it in other locations!
A well documented, entertaining and personal audio guide to get us around the island of Maui, hitting all of the highlights and must see places and also great advice on local food options. So well worth the small price to have this in your vehicle when exploring!
Fantastic! Like having a personal, local, well-versed guide in the car with us while we drove around on the island. Whether going to sight-see or out to get groceries, the audio car tour was a wealth of information.
I found this app to be easy to use and informative. It works great with Google Maps. Possible disadvantages are the complications of downloading the app due to the Trip Advisor system. This could be simplified. The power demand is significant so keeping your phone plugged into a power source is mandatory. It also caused my phone to heat up.
This was the best value I have experienced on any vacation anywhere. I love to drive, but I also love to hear details and history as I’m driving. This was the most in-depth and superbly scripted ride along ever. I hope they’re all over because I will be looking on every trip henceforth! Awesome value.
We appreciated the extra commentary about the area as we drove through Kauai. It was helpful in pointing out must do attractions while emphasizing certain areas that could present driving challenges, etc. We appreciated the assistance. There were a couple of places where the instruction to turn came as we were passing the turn requiring us to double back. But, that only happened a couple of times so it didn’t cause too much of an issue. Overall, the experience was very positive..
We used it for a leisurely driver around the island. Great stories, narration and timing. Gave lovely recommendations for food and things to do. Best value for money. Universally enjoyed by all. Would recommend doing a trip with this audio guided tour.
I use GuideAlong for all my trips that involve State Park areas. The narrator never disappoints and with the Kauai itinerary he delivered again. As with every GuideAlong trip, you explore at your own pace. Even if you detour from your route, he knows and picks right back up when yok Prplo tips: - Download the module for your destination before the trip. - explore your nable and start the tour before you leave your current destination. - keep your phone charging while using the app The guide is far more informative than any live tour and does a good job of informing you but also letting you know which sightseeing destinations are not worth your time. I highly recommend GuideAlong...the app has changed the way I travel!!!
This is the best decision I have ever made for my travel to Kauai. We had it for our entire trip as well, 5 days!!!! Narrator was excellent and funny. Learning about the island was a delight! The cost was well worth it. Wish I got this before...but now I know. Don't hesitate, get it for your next trip.
Simple to use. Download the app and takeoff on a great tour of Kauai. The app tracks your GPS location and provides information about the area around you and gives precise turn by turn directions to all of the attractions. After touring with this app, I cancelled a guided tour we had scheduled for later in the week because we had already seen all the places on the tour. Five stars!
I found this very confusing. It didn't go in a certain order. Wish is was more explainable. Didnt mention extra fees
Very interesting stories and information on areas you are driving through. Good suggestions on things to see, places to eat etc. Fun and entertaining. Family friendly.
We really like "Jim Bob" as we call him. He's helpful, informative, giving you information and ideas for things to do that you would probably not do if you didn't have him with you. He's your own personal HOHO tour (hop on hop off). Absolutely don't hesitate to use these tours. Only suggesting is adding bathroom stops when they're available.
The audio tour was perfect! Easy to follow and listen to. We spent 2 days driving while using the app. The app lead us to every point of interest plus some. Would definitely purchase and use on my next adventure.
The communication from the travel company was conflicting on pickup, location of pick up and time. HOWEVER, once we got on the bus Grey did a fantastic job. He is so knowledgeable. He told wonderful stories and jokes. He took us around like guests, not just tourists. He was fantastic. The boat ride and Fern Grotto were amazing. The family music and hula were also fantastic.
Great tour. Loved the App. Would recommend
We needed to get out of our Airbnb by 10 AM. Our flight home did not leave Lihue until 10:30 that night. We used the audio tour to kill that time. We saw places on the island that were recommended through the tour. Got some great pictures & stayed mostly out of the sand before our flight. We highly recommend it.
It was so easy to download the app put our trip in drive everywhere. We absolutely loved it. All the knowledge that the tour guide offered was wonderful added to our trip tremendously. By the way we named our guide, George… He was wonderful.
Loved this Guided Audio! We were able to explore Kauai, HI a lot more than trying to look different places up and find them ourselves. Taught us a lot about the history of the island. It took us to a lot of spots that we would have never seen without this app. It was like having a local in your car giving you options of things to see.
Really enjoyed this audio tour guide. Made seeing the sights very easy.
Informative and helpful experience
What an enjoyable experience this was. It was easy to use, the narrator was very pleasant to listen to and the ability to do it at our pace (start and stop whenever we want) made this a must do for our trips in the future.
Excellent guide. Have been to Kauai before and did not see or know about some of the sights mentioned on the tour. Great info!
We lived the voice and story telling of our trip to Waiamea Canyon in HI! It was so great to get to see some things we would never have known about unless we had the tour guide! Well worth the money! Thanks for keeping it so reasonable!
This was a fun, easy and informative tour that helped us visit and learn about spots on Kaua'i at our own pace.
Easy to use. The narrator had a pleasant and soothing voice. Made it comfortable to listen to. The information was interesting and fun
enjoyable and informative definitely enhanced the travel experience However— each time we stopped the car to see a vista site… we needed to reboot the program to resume the narrative
We really enjoyed the narrative on the tapes...it explained the history what to look for etc. Would recommend it
It gave us the opportunity to see the entire island at our own pace. The narrator was very knowledgeable about the island and various stops.
Fantastic tour. There was so much to learn and see. You can go completely at your own pace and do as much or as little as you like. Very easy to follow directions and it uses your phones GPS, so it knows which road you are on. 100% recommend it for anyone wanting to do some site seeing without booking a tour guide.
This was a great audio tour. If you haven’t ever done one, they are a great way to see the sites at your own speed. We were never surprised by the sites we visted and the audio host told us so much about the history of Kauai and Hawaii as we drove the suggested routes.
The GPS knows where you are and the guide directs you appropriately. Nice narratives and pleasant voice.
Great narrator -very informative and interesting! I took us to places we didn’t think about going to to see and do
Wonderful drive instructions along with great island history anecdotes along the way. Highly recommended!!
A fantastic app that worked much better than expected. With the GPS linked narrative, the good natured narrator gave us an explanation of so much (the chickens of Kauai), it made the drive so enjoyable. Well done.
This was the best money we spent. It is a great narrated drive. If you want to go at your own pace and learn the history of Kaui, I would highly recommend getting this guide.
This app was incredible. I’ve been to Kauai twice before and still found it super invaluable. Not only did it give great instructions as we were driving (once more accurately than Google maps!) but it also filled the stretches of driving with fun facts and stories and restaurant recommendations. I was really curious how it was going to work way up north or feel in Waimea canyon since I know I have no cell service there — I’m happy to report that the app continued to work great (I suspect because we had to download content for it in advance that it was able to work seamlessly offline). This app was legitimately my favorite part of the trip, and that’s not to say we didn’t do a ton of other amazing things, but just how impressed with the app I was. I would 100% recommend this app to anyone.
This audio guide tour was amazing. The tour guide was detailed and so much information about the histort and culture of Kauai, Hawaii was provided. The GPS detection is also very accurate, whenever the guide suggested a stop, they would also give the specific turns and inform us of if there is a lot of parking and if its paid. We named our tour guide "Joe" and he became a part of the family as we explored all of Kauai!
First time trying this and it was wonderful! I will choose again if it is available where I travel next.
Be patient with it because it comes and gives you a little bit of a blurb and then just be patient because the next one will show up
Such a unique and fun experience learning about the island while driving to different areas! The recommendations and directions were spot on!
I had this idea back in the earl '80s, before GPS. This worked liked I'd imagined it would but even better. It was like having a private guide with us in our car. We found places and restaurants that we would have missed without it. Highly recommend.
It allowed us to leisurely tour parts of Kauai. We lived the stories it was very educational and we learned a lot even being from Hawaii. We only had one issue with reconnecting our tour after one of our stops.
Great App! Using it really rounded out our driving experience on the island! Strongly recommend! Ensure you have a charger for your phone as the app & roaming eat up your power, or bring your USB cable.
