Private Hanalei Sandy Bottom Surf Lesson On Kauai

Patrick was great and the spot we surfed was perfect for learning. I went with my 3 sons (14, 11, 8). All of us were able to ride numerous waves. It has been the favorite part of the vacation so far! It did rain a little but it didn't affect the experience.

We weren’t sure what to expect as neither my husband or I have surfed before, but our instruct Allister did a great job teaching us and getting us comfortable on the waves! We were surprised we were able to pop up so much, it was a lot of fun and not scary at all.

Jack was awesome, easy directions amazing experience all around.

Had a very good surf lesson with instructor, Tiger. He was helpful and kind. Koi at the front desk was kind and helpful, and Lynn, who ogranized the booking, was also very kind and helpful. Professional company. Highly recommend and will go with them again.

10/10 expérience. The instructors were so nice and helpful. I felt very comfortable and safe. The bay was so calm and the water is shallow so it’s the perfect place to learn. Plus the views were amazing - truly couldn’t have asked for a better day!

Learning how to surf with Kohl and Koi at Hawaiian Surfing Adventures was one of the most joy-filled mornings we spent together as a family on the ocean. Thanks to their instruction, patience, and encouragement, all five of us were able to learn how to surf, and some of the kids in our family were even able to give some tricks a try.

Family of 4 - all relatively new to surfing. Patrick got everyone standing up and surfing in no time. Super friendly chap who loves his cacao! His guidance was very helpful and practical. Hanalei is a beautiful place to learn (very beginner friendly) with an unmatched vista. Over the years I’ve had lessons in Lihue, Poipu and now Hanalei. I’d say that Hanaleii provides the best experience overall. Hawaii Surfing Adventures gets ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Patrick the Legend gets ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Great way to begin surfing. All my teenagers loved it. It wasn’t overwhelming. It was a little crowded out in the bay, but it worked out. For sure recommend.

My husband and I had the best time learning to surf on our honeymoon. Patrick was our instructor and he was great! Very positive and encouraging. We both were able to catch many waves throughout our lesson and had a blast. The waves were the perfect size for learning and the beach itself is stunning.

Palani was kind and patient with our keiki. The water was beautiful and the waves were the perfect size to brush up on surf skills. We had a great time watching every kid catch several waves.

This is an excellent way to learn to surf! Since I was completely new to surfing I was a bit intimidated at first but my instructor did a fantastic job introducing me to the method on the beach before practicing it on the waves. I crashed the first few times but I quickly improved with my instructor’s guidance and by the end of the lesson I learned to surf! And it’s really fun!! I recommend this to anyone who has an interest in surfing the waves and never had done so before!

Great experience! We originally booked our kids and then I (mom) wanted to try also. it was very easy to add a 3rd lesson as well as to rent a SUP and extra surf board on the day of. That value was great (something like $47 total including tax for 10:30-end of day SUP and 12:30-end of day surf board). The check in process was easy - quick paperwork for our extra boards, get rash guards (WEAR THEM) and instructions on how to get to the beach. The instructor met us out there with boards. He gave us a quick land-based tutorial and then out in the water! Having surfed on the rocky bottom of Maui, surfing in the sandy bottom of Hanalei bay is a dream!

We enjoyed our private lesson and the weather was perfect for us to get multiple rides in. Our instructor taught us surfing etiquette, safety, and how to surf on our own once the lesson was over.

Mason was amazing. We had a wonderful time on the tour and they were awesome with my elderly mother.

Our four kids had a great time with Nick! He had them up and surfing almost immediately. Definitely recommend. He was engaged with them the entire time and knew how to appropriately challenge and support each one of them. There were a couple other bigger groups out there but our smaller group was much better - more attention, more surfing. They also supplied rash guards to protect from the sun.

Excellent family owned and operated company. Everyone was warm and friendly. From the moment we checked in and throughout the entire lesson we felt fussed over and looked after. It was such a positive experience. The instructor was very informative, patient and an excellent teacher. We would definitely use this company again for future visits.

The people running the business were terrific, and the experience was great. The only downside was that it was a bit of a pain to do a lesson, and then get to keep surfing. They separate the rental boards from from the lesson boards. They also separate the rash guard shirts they use for lessons from the rentals as well. So, if you want a lesson, and to keep surfing afterwards, it is a separate fee, and you have to transport the boards for the rental to the beach yourself (it is probably a 10 minute walk). They were very helpful with loading the boards onto our car. As I said above, we had to rent separate rash guard shirts to use during the rental period, so everyone did the lesson, then needed to change shirts. None of these things are too difficult to deal with, but to me it seems like more of a chore than it needs to be. That being said, the experience was great, the instructors were terrific, and everyone we dealt with was nice, capable, and seemed to really appreciate their patrons. Recommend working with this company. Just wish they would streamline things a bit

Even with zero surfing experience, Nick’s lessons and guidance had me up on the board quickly. His instruction was simple, clear and encouraging. The waters of Hanalei Bay were perfect for first time surfers.

Jimmy was a 100/100 instructor! He was so nice, encouraging, and knowledgeable (and very funny!) We would recommend over and over again. Next time we are in Hanalei we know where we will be going for lessons and rentals!

Palani was an excellent instructor! My two girlfriends and I had the BEST time! He was patient and joked with us. Really helped us out! We all 3 were able to stand up multiple times. Loved it so much!

Great experience for the entire family. Three beginners and one who had surfed a little. Age ranges from 25 years to 64 years of age. All able to catch a few waves during the 1.5 hour lesson. Tapu was excellent in his instruction and support. All were eventually able to catch a few waves alone. And done at a very reasonable price. Thanks for the wonderful experience!

Amazing surf lesson! Michael Mawae was the best instructor. He was so patient, fun, accommodating, and taught us so much. We even went back for more the next day because of how much fun we had! Suitable for families, couples, or groups. Would highly recommend. Pro tip: extra sunscreen on your hands and backs of your legs 😎

Patrick was amazing! Great instructor fun lesson! Had to drive down to the beach from the check-in spot which was ok but not as advertised so be warned! Otherwise check in was easy

My partner and I had Palani as our instructor. He was awesome!!! We were absolute first timers but he had us surfing all the way back to shore in no time. We also had a sea turtle visit us during our lesson! Being in the ocean looking at the beach with the waterfall in the background was truly a sight to remember. Thanks Palani for helping us cross off a big item in our bucket list!

This was our favorite activity on Kauai! Hanalei was picture perfect and we all caught some waves! We loved it!

Lesson was for 3 persons - and this was great as it allowed my wife and two children to get full attention of instrutor who was fantastic. My wife raved about how kind and informative a teacher the instructor was and that he played instrumental role in helping them to catch waves and get comfortable on the board. Overall, easy to get there and connect with instructor.

We did a private lesson with Nate. Overall a great experience. My son got up on the board numerous times and enjoyed it. We got some great shots of him “catching a wave”.

Palani was a wonderful instructor. Both my kids hung on his every word, and he got them (both first timers) up and surfing. They had a blast and he was a huge part of that.

Our instructor sequenced the teaching so well that by the time my daughter and I got in the water we both caught our first wave in. Such a great place to learn to surf and having a local, experienced instructor was the best way to do it. Thanks Ponu.
