I had no idea chocolate what raw chocolate looked like and more so how even made!!
True Hawaii tropical experience, beauty surrounds you with unique plants, flowers, coffee bean trees and the list goes on. The chocolate tastings of different regions was interesting, our guide Zoe was Fantastic and a wealth of information with a deep love of Hawaii Culture and traditions. Aloha!!
A guided tour through an amazing garden, led by a very knowledgeable guide, with a fun break in the middle to taste and compare chocolates.
It is a beutiful garden and Troy, our guide had interesting info to tell us. However, I felt too much time was spent on talking about how one makes chocolate. Maybe that was because I had a chocolate tour last year on Kauai, but to me they could have sped up the chocolate hour. It could have been 30 min insted of 60. It is the middle hour of the 3 hour event.
The tour was excellent. The Garden is majestic. Rob was an outstanding tour guide, we were so happy that we were placed in his group. The group size and the length of the tour were perfect. Thank you for sharing this wonderful place with us.
Excellent tour and experience well paced to enjoy for all
It is well paced with a wonderful chocolate tasting in the middle. And also snacks were provided along the way. Troy was a knowledgeable guide.
We booked the tour, and then received the waiver that is required. After reading the waiver, I was concerned that I might have difficulty completing the tour, which is three hours long and traverses through natural settings instead of on concrete or other types constructed trails. I decided to go to the tour and shared my concerns with the person who checked us in. I needed not worry. In the event someone needs asssistance, a golf cart stands ready and waiting to assist as necessary. I loved the tour and am thrilled that we completed it. My initial concern was with my endurance, but we experienced rest stops and the chocolate tasting, which gave us breaks. I am from the Ozarks, where flora is beautiful, but the area we covered truly took my breath. We walked at a leisurely pace, having time to ask questions, and giving those who were a little slower time to catch up. Well worth the money and time. Ann was an enthusiastic tour guide, and she told us many Hawaiian folklore stories involving the plants. Last note: Two people did ask for the cart on the last hill, and it was johnny-on-the-spot to come get them. Do this tour.
Amazing experience all around. Tour guides were great! Chocolate part was cool
Beautiful garden with very knowledgeable tour guides. Worth every penny Strikingly beautiful flora. I now see how these plants grow in nature. I'll quit trying to grow them in my S California home unless i can provide them with mist at least daily. A great learning experience about tropical plants ...and CHOCOLATE☺️
Our family enjoyed this majestic tour through the botanical gardens and was fascinated by our amazing tour guide's (ZOE) knowledge. It was a feast for the eyes, and we learned so much about Hawaii's ecosystem and cacao. BEAUTIFUL TOUR!!
This botanical garden had so many species to enjoy; every blossom and palm leaf was captivating. The guides were incredibly knowledgeable about the plant life, including the origins on some as well as identifying the true native species. Our tour included a fruit (from the garden) and chocolate (cacao beans from their garden) tasting. The best experience for plant (& chocolate) lovers!
The garden was beautiful but the guide was a bit long winded so the time went over 3hrs, the tasting was good but minimal. It did downpour so the umbrellas they offered were appreciated. Wear shoes you can walk in/go up/down a hill. A good experience overall but not worth the price. Half the price would’ve been more reasonable
Heidi, our guide, gave a wonderful tour of the gardens. The only disappointment was finding out it would’ve been cheaper to book directly.
Robert was a great guide. He was very knowledgeable. The garden is gigantic. There are so many things in it there's not even time to discuss it all. Although after 3 hours I was definitely ready for some water so make sure you bring some with you.
I really enjoyed the tour. The gardens are magical. Zoe and Troy shared their admiration and knowledge of the plants and the whole tour was well organized and easy going. I felt relaxed and energized at the end of the 3 hours. We had a diverse group from little ones to elders, and it rained quite a bit, but I consider it one if the best small garden tours I've ever done.
Heidi was an excellent tour guide - so informative and kind. The garden is so stunning and full of amazing plants
Troy from Decatur, IL was our tour guide and he was great! He knew the names of every plant and great stories about each one. We tasted fruit and chocolate on the tour. Delicious! Some of the most beautiful plants you will ever see. The amateur photographers on our tour couldn't get enough. Jan Marie and her team are lovely. Worth the trip.
Our family thoroughly enjoyed the tour. The garden is beautiful, the tastings were fantastic, and our guide Heidi was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and friendly.
Fabulous experience for our family! Tour was doable for my daughters who are 9 and 8. Ann was very knowledgeable. We appreciated the chocolate tasting as well! Highly recommend this tour!
Beautiful gardens Knowledge and friendly staff Great experience with learning about and tasting chocolate All around an outstanding day!
Awesome knowledgeable staff and tour. Got to try unique fruits and great chocolate.
Every experience is colored by the workers. This experience did not disappoint. The staff were all passionate about nature, plant life, and farming. Every explanation or answer to questions was thoughtful and obviously not rehearsed or memorized. Their excitement rubbed off on the group and we loved it. It really is not possible to describe the beauty of the gardens and the variety of vegetation we were introduced to while on this tour. Amazing really. Take the staff up on the offer of bug repellents (or bri g your own) because you will be deep in nature and that repellent will be an experience saver.
Fun and interesting for the whole family! The guides truly love what they are teaching about chocolate and the fauna on Kaua'i.
The property is absolutely stunning and the tour guides were so knowledgeable. They provided bug spray, clean bathrooms to use and walking sticks. The chocolate tasting was informative and of course delicious, as were the different fruits and honey you tasted along the tour. It really gave us such a unique way to appreciate plant life and our use of different plants.
Fun to walk around and see plants from all over the world. Nice activity for a day trip. Really enjoyed the chocolate specifically from the garden and trying all kind of different fruits as we walked.
I went with my husband and family. It was very informative, the chocolate and fruits were delicious!! The gardens were beautiful!! The walk was somewhat challenging for me (I have a physical disability - stroke) but I would think for an able bodied individual it would be fairly easy.
Interesting, knowledgeable staff. Excellent variety of chocolate to taste from locations around the world.
Great tour! Zoey was our guide. Very knowledgeable. Walked at a brisk pace. Most tours are too short, the 3 hours was just right. In addition to chocolate history, processing and tasting, there was also a little honey and coconut tasting too. A wonderful experience. A beautiful location. Very well organized, from the welcome and parking to the Goodbye.
Heidi did an amazing job. She was engaging and knowledgeable. Our kids loved her. Also, stunning grounds. Thank you!
It was a great adventure with very knowledgeable guides!
This is an outstanding botanical experience in an absolutely tropical setting! This collection is not limited to native species- it is truly a global experience. The hosts and the orators were very knowledgeable of the grounds and the subject material. Highly recommend!!
This is the next thing closest to Heaven in my opinion! Starting off, the lush area where the Princeville Botanical Gardens are located is perfection! The rolling hills and the quiet surroundings is a perfect spot for such a place. Upon pulling on to the property, we were greeted by friendly staff. And then we were introduced to our amazing guide, Troy. His knowledge and humor kept all of us interested in each tree; each leaf; each berry; each plant; even each chicken! I highly recommend booking the tour with delicious treats or chocolate to taste and then purchase if we wanted. I promise you, I’ll book another tour if and when I ever make it back to Kauai!
Your guides were friendly and knowledgeable. We got to try different types of chocolate and unique fruits. The grounds were beautiful and it was an enjoyable experience.
We've visited plenty of botanical gardens and this was definitely the best. Our guide, Heidi describes herself as a "plant nerd". She could go to whatever level of detail we wanted about the plants and the history of the site. There were tasting of some of the fruit as we traversed this beautiful garden. The addition of a chocolate seminar and tasting was amazing and we left with an excellent understanding of both the process and history of chocolate cultivation and production. With the number of botanical gardens on the island, the friendliness and engagement of the entire team clearly stands out.
Beautiful garden, lots of colors and variety in both plants and terrain. Not too many people in our group, which is good. Our guide Heidi was very knowledgeable about not only the plants but their history of how they came to Hawaii, how they are used, etc. The chocolate tasting was good. They went over the process of harvesting cacao and making it into chocolate but if you want to actually see that process they don’t do that. Overall a very good morning - I’d do it again.
Excellent tour guide. Lot of information and beautiful plants to see.
We had a fantastic garden tour experience! The gardens were absolutely beautiful, with a wonderful variety of plants, flowers, and thoughtfully designed spaces. Every area was unique and clearly cared for with great attention to detail. Our guide, Heidi, made the tour even more enjoyable. She was incredibly knowledgeable, passionate, and enthusiastic, sharing fascinating insights about the gardens while keeping the tour fun and engaging. Her warmth, energy, and love for what she does were evident throughout. We learned so much and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Highly recommend this tour, especially if Heidi is your guide!
Excellent tour of the Princeville Botanical Gardens. The gardens are lush, exotic and beautiful. Rob was a fantastic guide, sharing his knowledge, humor, and wisdom with us. Highly recommended, and well worth the admission price.
Wow! I am an Idaho boy that loves the outdoors and have always wanted to experience Hawaii. We booked to Kauai and the botanical gardens in Princeville was the first thing to pop up when I was searching for a tropical experience. The tour, the vast amounts of plant life from ground cover to giant trees was absolutely stunning. We got to try mountain apples, cocoa beansstraight from the pod, an experimental fruit and even some chocolates from around the world, including one made on site! 15/10!
Fabulous experience! Highly recommend. The staff is exceptional in their knowledge and their people skills. The three hour experience flew by and I never looked at the time. The garden is gorgeous. Our guide, Troy, was exceptional! This is a definite must visit for anyone visiting Kauai.
What a wonderful experience. Completely worth the price of admission. Around every turn, you'll find something that will stop you in your tracks and literally smell the essence of the island. But this tour would have been nothing without the passion of our guide, Heidi. Her energy, knowledge, personality, and island hospitality were half of the beauty of this tour. Heidi brought every rock, tier, flower, tree, vine, orchid.....to life. We highly recommend this tour, even if you are not interested in gardens, you will leave with the spirit of Kauai in your heart. Be sure to ask for Heidi to be your guide.
Education and informational exeperince.
Excellent in every way! Beautiful, so much information! Incredible day!
Wonderfully fun, educational and family-friendly experience! Worth the price, and the guides and owner are so friendly & knowledgeable. We went during the April school break, and our guide - Heidi - gave our younger daughter (12 years old) a brown, paper ‘memory bag’ before we started, suggesting she look for and collect ‘all the colors of the rainbow.’ It was such a simple but smart gesture that made the hike tons more enjoyable for her, and thus all of us! Heidi even helped her collect some of the harder to reach ‘colors.’ As soon as we got back to our resort, our daughter neatly positioned them all on our balcony table, where they stayed for the rest of the week. (See picture.) We appreciated not only Heidi’s stories and info, but her obvious, genuine care for nature and for Kauai and its people. Also appreciated them distributing large, sturdy umbrellas and unlimited bug lotion at the beginning (not that it was even very rainy or buggy). And they certainly weren’t stingy with the many dark chocolate samples! Our whole family loved this very organized and well-run hiking tour.
Ash was so knowledgeable about the different garden trees, plants, and fruits thereof. The garden is so beautiful and breathtaking. You gotta go!
This property is beautiful. So much diversity and beauty. The guides know a tremendous amount about plants and history. The chocolate was great and the fruit too.
The tour was absolutely incredible! Our tour guide was so knowledgeable and had a wonderful personality. She made the tour not only interesting, but fun. The botanical garden grounds were spectacular. Would highly recommend!
It was interesting to learn about the fauna on Hawaii at the beginning of our trip as we could recognize it as we continued to encounter it. The chocolate was also nice.
