Princeville - Snorkeling Shore Excursion

We arrived at the meeting point 10 minutes before 8:00 our scheduled time. There was no one there. I called and left a message at 8:20. The answering machine said they opened at 11. I never did receive a call back. I have sent a complaint to Viator for a refund.

This experience was disappointing. Kelly started out by showing up 10 minutes late and contacting after she was already late even though the information for meet up was very strict of the customer not being late otherwise have the money forfeited. So showing up early only to have to wait was not a great way to start. Once we received all our equipment the flippers were dated and did function well, the goggles as week continued to give us all problems of staying on our face so the continued need to empty them or clear the fog disrupted the experience continuously but the worst part of it all was 4 out of 5 of our scooters died or were on red before 30 minutes of our snorkeling. Before we left she stated that a scooter would have 45m on full throttle but it would last longer if we weren’t using them or the weight of the person using would effect it but this was not true, our youngest who is 70lbs had his die before 30m and when I shared with Kelly the outcome of our day she said it was only a for the average person to last 45m. She said she would test the scooters to see if there was anything wrong and never followed up. Finally the information in the TripAdvisor page said the beginning and ending of the trip would be at the same location as pick up but this was also a lie and the drop off was a 10min drive dropping off to what I imagine is her residence. To spend over $600 for less than an hour of snorkeling with these scooters was not

Very nice and informative couple running this business. Gave us our equipment and a map and sent us on our way. We snorkeled in Anini Beach and we got to swim with a turtle. We got out around 8:30am. This activity is self lead and we were a little wary at first but it seemed like there was a another group learning to snorkel that we kinda followed for a bit just to make sure we never went past the landmarks we were told. Overall a very calm and enjoyable experience. Also the scooters that are provided have a spot for a GoPro hook up, if you have one BRING IT. you definitely don’t want to miss out on what you will see down there. We didn’t bring ours and ended up swimming with some turtles that we wish we could have captured. Overall if you want to be with others in this adventure, you might want a guided tour. My husband and I had no snorkel experience at all and I was actually a little afraid at first, but within 30 mins we got the hang of it and prefered that we go to be on our own time and come in and out of the water as we pleased.

Kelly was gracious and helpful~ due to recent tsunami she recommended we stayed with one beach which had safer surf and told us exactly where to find the turtles- we saw many along with the cleaner fish and sea urchin! What a beautiful day- out twin teens had a blast too!

We loved that it was an unguided tour. The owner was very informative, and she told us where to go and how to stay safe. I would recommend it.

The service was marvelous. And the dive site was perfect for our needs. One of our party was in a wheelchair and she had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The directions to the dive site were good and precise, and the equipment worked as advertised. I would recommend this to anybody coming to Kauai and want to do snorkeling on a reef.

Wow! They showed us all the best beaches and spots to see wildlife! The water scooters made it a breeze! With very little effort we could beat the current and stay watching turtles and fish! I don't think I would want to snorkel without a scooter now!!! We also rented a go pro and got great footage. They gave us the SD card - so pictures to share when we get home!

Kelly was detailed, accurate,patient and kind. The scooters were easy to use and the GoPro provided us with memories for a lifetime. We had a beautiful experience. Mahalo. 🥰

Very fun! The scooters were very helpful in the stronger currents. The maps of the best snorkeling locations were priceless! How would we have known to explore those specific spots?! The coordinator was friendly and very helpful. Would recommend!

It was great, loved the sea scooters. Anini beach for the win, plenty of sea life and sea turtles. Can't wait to download the GoPro. If you want to explore without a guide, highly recommend.

Easy check in with all to best recommendations for snorkeling. The equipment was easy to use and provided a great extra advantage to snorkeling.

We are beginners when it comes to snorkeling. The sea scooters seemed intimidating at first. After some excellent instructions by Kelly on pick up, we headed out to Anini beach to try it out. These scooters made it so easy to get to the turtles there and gave the security that you will be able to get back to shore no matter the current. These were really fun!! Will definitely rent again next visit!

Really friendly and helpful. The equipment was great - especially for those who are less confident swimmers. As a side note, the location is in a complex with Native Hawaiian businesses. After returning the equipment, we had a fantastic lunch at the restaurant next door.

It was a great experience! Would do it again! We were able to see lots of amazing fish, turtles, and other ocean life. Kelly was great to work with.

Amazing time snorkeling at Ahini Beach with our sea scooters! Was the kids first time, Kelly showed us how to use all the equipment and get the most out of our time in the water. We swam with sea turtles and lots of fishes!

Kudos to Kelly. She not only gave great instructions on the use of the equipment. When she found out my daughter was sick and couldn't make the trip, she gave me a few bonuses that really brightened my day. Acts of kindness like this should be applauded. Thank you for a great experience.

I never leave a bad review but this still bothered me over a week later. This was a complete waste of almost $250 for only two people. I would have maybe spent $40 on it. The scooters only lasted 20-25 minutes. My husband’s snorkeling gear broke within 5 minutes. This rental was the only bad experience we had in Hawaii. Please do not sign up for this. I will admit it was fun like 20 minutes we actually got to do it but was not worth the money at all. I can’t emphasize this enough

The owner was extremely helpful. We had a blast! Saw many fish and turtles! Our favorite part of the trip. The water scooters were awesome and easy to use. Would book again, no doubt. It was a great price and for the fun we had, it was so worth it!

Using the water scooter really did change the snorkeling experience. Was able to focus more on the wildlife. Saw so many fish and sea turtles.

Excellent experience renting scooters for the day. The owner was very responsive and friendly. She even texted us the day before we were scheduled to rent to give us advice on weather and ocean conditions to ensure we had the best experience. We ended up going a day early to avoid a rain system that was moving in. The scooters kept their charge all day for us and we went to two beaches. The advice on which beaches and swim routes was invaluable and made the day stress free. We highly recommend.

The scooters are easy to use and help cover more space in a short amount of time. Will definitely use again in the future.

A great snorkel trip with a great company! Kelly and her husband were very nice to work with, from communication to safety and experience. I had some people in my group that are nervous in the ocean and have never been snorkeling—Anini beach was an excellent snorkel for beginners and Kelly did a great job explaining the entire process—everyone felt safe and had a great time. The sea scooters also helped everyone in the group feel more comfortable in their ability to venture out and see the beauty. Thanks again!

It was an okay experience. They do not provide travel to a beach and this is not a guided tour. My husband and I understood that when we booked so that wasn’t an issue. They give you a map of a beach and where to find coral reefs and turtles, which was nice. The actual equipment they gave us was eh. The goggles and snorkle weren’t that great so we ended up taking them off when we were in the water. The sea scooters were a bust, you can swim farther with just the flippers. You can rent out a GoPro and keep the SD card but the GoPro kept freezing and turning off and deleted a bunch of really cool footage that we got. The price of this experience was really expensive for what it is. They also will rent out beach chairs for $5, so they really nickle and dime you for every little thing. My advice is to use the money you would have spent at this place and buy goggles, a snorkle, and flippers from a supermarket out there and go to Anini Beach and follow the other snorklers.

Snorkeling in Princeville on Anini Beach was amazing. Windy weather made it challenging, but the experience was wonderful. The beach is absolutely beautiful & clean. Saw huge turtles & many smaller fish.

We liked that this was an excursion at our own pace. Everything was explained well and we were given a map with full details of where to go, what to look for, how to use the scooters, etc. Once we got to the location we found the instructions provided by Kelly spot on. We saw lots of fish and turtles. The current was strong so we were happy to have the scooters. It was nice being shown by a local small business how to have a great time while in Kauai.

The rental was easy and the scooters were fun to use. You can't get this same experience anywhere else. I've taken many snuggling trips on boats... This was just as much fun. I also loved being in control of my entire day. If you're thinking about trying this please do! It's worth it.

The owner was friendly . The handheld props were awesome but mine lasted less than an hour on low. The other still had charge but you can’t do it together. There was only one beach recommendation when there are so many . We would have gone to Tunnels

Fantastic experience! Saw turtles, fish, sea cucumbers and an eel. Great equipment and guidance as to where to go see the best wildlife. Kelly was terrific to work with and gives you a lot of information. The sea scooters are very easy to operate. Use common sense to not run out of battery. I never used max speed and always kicked while using it. I also “pulsed” and would using it sparingly. I had plenty of battery left after 2 hours! My husband and I were very inexperienced and had a great time!!

We spent 9 days on Kauai and did ever tourist adventure out there. Snorkeling with the scooter was by far the best coolest thing! We have snorkeled in a lot of oceans around the world never with a water scooter and probably will never do it without again!!! if you are on the fence DO IT !!!!

The snorkeling equipment with scooter was perfect! Kelly gave me a map and pointed out the perfect location for snorkeling as a solo traveler. My only goal was to swim with turtles...and that is exactly what I did immediately when getting in to the water! Mahalo Kelly!! The scooter was a wonderful addition to my snorkeling experience.

We found these easy to use, even for our 11 year old granddaughter. They are light weight, hardest part was remembering to keep the unit fully submerged.

My 13 year-old daughter and I had an amazing time! We got to see beautiful turtles…they were big! Lots of colorful fish and reef. Highly recommend!

Amazing views of the oceanic wildlife. So much beautiful coral and many species of fish. We even saw a Moray Eel, puffers and was able to touch the sea turtles.

The sea scooters were faster than I thought they would be, also lasted longer than I expected. This made snorkeling a breeze. We booked our snorkeling Activity with Sensational Sea Adventure, this was by far our best activity yet. If you are looking to snorkel, you have to use a Sea Scooter. They were located close to our resort in Princeville, which made it much easier and less traffic.

The skooters were a game changer. I highly recommend this activity for your snorkeling trip on Kauai. We swam with 5 turtles and a moray eel. This was my first time snorkeling and the skooters made it super easy. We picked up our gear close to our resort in Princeville which was super convenient. As a 1st time snorkler I am hooked! I will definitely be back to rent these again on our next trip to Kauai.

Kelly was great, she lent us her equipment and gave us detailed instructions about parking and what to expect at each of the beaches. We had a lot of fun snorkeling in Anini Beach and Tunnels Beach! The sea scooters were so fun and made getting around the water really easy. We took lots of pictures and video of various fish and sea turtles in the coral. Make sure to remember your go pro if you want optimal footage!

I have snorkeled before, but I was worried my 7yr daughter might have trouble snorkeling. I was so wrong, the scooters made snorkeling for her so easy. We had the best time swimming with the turtles, we even seen a stingray. I was so impressed with the scooters, they were able to scoot me around without any problems. The batteries lasted a lot longer than I thought they would. They even had this one scooter called Stingray, the owner recommend for my 6'2 buff 230lb husband that whipped him right along side of us like he was nothing. This is a must do activity for the whole family to enjoy. I am glad we choose Sensational Sea Adventures for you snorkeling activity on Kauai.

Kelly at Sensational Sea Adventures was….sensational! She delivered the gear to my Hanalei location right on time and was very flexible for pick up time and location. Kelly answered all texts and phone calls. The Sea Scooter was surprisingly strong - I’m 200 lbs and my son is 160 lbs. I highly recommend!

This added a whole new level of fun to snorkeling! Kelly made this completely stress-free by meeting us at our hotel to drop off the scooters and give us a quick tutorial (there is basically no learning curve they are so easy to use!). I loved that the scooters had 2 speeds and were super-light and bouyant. I also loved that I could instantly release the pressure to turn off the moter and float silently (important when getting a first-hand view of a "turtle cleaning station"!). Definitely recommend for those who want to snorkel while in Kauai.

Our family snorkeling trip was amazing and surprised how much the sea scooters improved our experience. We rented 4 for all of us to go and being 6’1” - 235 pound male this scooter zipped me around with ease lol! We have two high school girls and all the other teens on the beach were asking where we got them! Kelly was great and very thorough explaining where to go and what to expect at each location. I will definitely rent these again on our next trip. Thanks!

This was such a great experience. We rented two scooters. One for me and one for my daughter. I was worried they would be hard to use. Nope! Super easy to use for all ages. It was so fun and they lasted longer than I expected. We saw sea turtles and other sea creatures. Living in Ohio nowhere near sea life, this was such an awesome experience. Kelly was great. Very helpful and informative. She told us the best beaches to go to. I would highly recommend Sensational Sea Adventures. I would recommend getting a GoPro too. Totally worth it and being able to take the memories with you.

This was an amazing experience for my family. All of our equipment was brought to our resort. I was worried about not being able to operate the equipment properly but the person who brought our equipment explained everything in detail. Even my children operated the equipment with ease. She provided suggestions of the best places to use them and boy she wasn't wrong! The aquatic life we saw was simply magical. Hands down this was the highlight of our trip! Highly recommend!
