Outrigger canoe surfing is an excellent activity provides an opportunity to surf waves on an outrigger canoe, without engaging in a surf lesson. Your adventure begins with a short safety briefing led by our experienced steersman. We’ll cover essential paddling techniques, and safety protocols. Once everyone is briefed and geared up, you'll board our traditional Hawaiian outrigger canoe. Our guide will ensure you’re comfortable and ready to paddle. Paddling Along the Coastline: Paddle along the beautiful Kalapaki Beach coastline. Enjoy the stunning views of the clear, calm waters and surrounding landscape. Catching Waves: The highlight of the experience—surfing the waves! Under the expert guidance of our skilled watermen, you’ll catch 3-4 waves. Feel the thrill and excitement of riding the ocean swells in a traditional outrigger canoe, just like the ancient Hawaiians. Return to Shore: After an exhilarating time catching waves, you’ll paddle back to the shore, where you can reflect on the experience and share your excitement with fellow participants and take photos.

We got bit by the "No Refunds on Cancellations within 24 hours" policy. We accidentally booked this experience on a different island than where we were staying, only discovering our mistake when we went to check-in for a nearly identical canoe surfing that might have even been with an affiliated company. We were denied a refund request.

We had such a great time. We were running a few mins late and they waited very nicely for us. We were the last run of the day. Our guide was fabulous. He was very quick and direct with instructions but made it so we understood everything. Had 4 great runs on the waves. Our teenage boys (17 & 14) loved it. Would definitely do it again.

This was awesome! The instructor was great and the experience was excellent. The one hour lesson is just enough to get the hang of it and catch some really great waves but not so long that you will be exhausted (although there were some sore arms the next day from the paddling). We were staying in Poipu but we we paired this mid-morning lesson with a great lunch in Lihue afterwards for a fun half-day. Some practical details for those who like to plan ahead: There is parking nearby but you should allow extra time since the lot can get full. The Kalapaki Beach Boys have a location in the main building on Kalapaki Beach (facing the beach) where you will meet your instructor and there are restroom facilities in that building if you need to change before/after.
Great adventure with Crisiano as our guide. He made sure we were safe and had a blast. We laughed each and every wave and would recommend for adventurous groups that want to experience something new.

OMG---what a perfect ending to our week in Hawaii! We were looking for something "different" to do on our last afternoon in Kauai. We were greeted and checked in by the courteous and informative Bryan. Chrishon (sp?) was our outrigger guide and he did a fantastic job teaching these old folks everything we needed to know. We paddled out to the designated spots where he taught us so much about watching for the "perfect" wave. Oh what fun it was when we caught our first one and could feel our canoe riding at the crest of the wave. We rode about 5 waves before we had to leave paradise. I just wish someone had taken a photo of us riding! Every day on the islands seemed like paradise, but THIS was at the top of our favorites! Do it!
Outrigger Canoe Surfing is a fun way to start your vacation and get wet! The Kauai Beach Boys are great and professional.
Outrigger canoe surfing was amazing! It was basically a private tour. Just myself, husband and Krishan, the tour guide. He explained everything very clearly and then we were off! We got in a bunch of waves, it felt like we were going so fast! It was super fun. Some people in the area saw how much fun we were having and asked about tours in the afternoon. Highly suggest, and way easier than surfing!

We had an incredible experience surfing the waves on an outrigger. Our guide was phenomenal - he was great teaching us the unique way to paddle and ride the waves. We rode in many waves and had a blast. I highly recommend using this company. They were great and when in Hawaii, you should experience "Hawaii's rolleecoaster".
I didn't actually make it to this activity but i did go and watch and see them. We had them scheduled then two days prior we took a 5 hour boat tour and found out that one person in our party was extremely sea sick and we didn't want to chance going back out into the ocean. They were more than awesome to deal with in cancelling our trip and we really hated missing this excursion. By looking at what they offer it would be great for a family outing. I am not sure what the age limit was on this but definitely older kids would have a ball. I want to acknowledge how friendly and helpful they were even though we missed our trip with them. Thank you Beach Boys I appreciated your help.
So fun riding the waves! Such an easy way to get out on the water for some fun. You stay in the bay so it’s protected and you ride about 5 waves - I could have stayed out all day! Loved the experience and felt in great hands with Krishnan, a fun way to kick off the morning! Thanks to the crew at the office too, super nice and helpful. 10/10 recommend for a quick little adventure and experience in an outrigger canoe.
We had a fantastic time. This is a great way to experience surfing without being on a surfboard, but rather the outrigger canoe.. DeShawn was a perfect complement to our boat of three. He was a great instructor, wave educator, command caller and conversationalist during rests and wave waits. Highly recommend.
The excursion was affordable and fun! Our instructor was informative, knowledgeable and personable. My husband and I enjoyed the time we spent on the ocean and would do it again! Highly recommend.

We were a little nervous, but our guide was awesome. He gave us some training talked about safety got us loaded up and off we went. It was just the two of us plus our guide. He is very experienced and has been with the company for 16 years since he came to Hawaii from Sri Lanka. We paddled out and then rode good size waves in good size waves would be small waves per surfing but great in the outrigger. It was fun sailing past the surfers as we moved faster than they did. It seemed very great organization and we will do it again.

It was so much fun! For a pair of seniors who have never surfed, it was the closest thing. Our guide/instructor was great. We went out from the beach you can see from the cruise ship, which was really convenient, walking distance.
Fun experience. Guide was helpful and gave us a “bonus run” when we caught a wave earlier than expected on what was supposed to be our last one.
It wasn’t as physically demanding as I imagined, but you will feel it the next day! We had a great guide who gave amazing instructions and was overall very helpful. It was so much fun, and I highly recommend it. Riding the waves was the best part, and we got to do do it several times after we got used to paddling!
Great experience with ocean paddling! Beautiful weather, surfed about five waves in the hour. I wasn't able to book as a solo traveler because of the size of the canoes. But luckily when I called she kept me on a waiting list and I was able to join another group. Also, the guide was wonderful and kind and kept us informed. Fabulous experience hope to do it again.

This was a fun experience. The cove had just enough waves to give us a taste. Neither one of us are physically in shape and we were able to handle the paddling. You do have to be able to paddle quickly and follow directions when the time comes. Worth the money!
