Very beautiful scenery and not a difficult paddle or hike, a great combination of light exercise with sight seeing at a relaxed pace.

the trip was great, our guides Bruce and Cannon were awesome. Bruce was very funny and had some great fact to tell along the way. The kayaking was the hardest part, but not difficult. The hike was light and mostly flat. all together it was a very fun experience.
Our guide, Halen, was very personable, helpful and knowledgeable. We enjoyed both the kayaking and the hiking, as well as learning about the history of the area. We would highly recommend this experience.
This was a great kayak and hiking tour, to some really cool little spots. Kayak portion was a little over 2 miles but all down river so super easy. Hike was very muddy and about a mile or so. The tour guides showed us some pretty cool spots where some movies were shot(Indiana Jones and Pirates of the Caribbean) and we swam in some of the falls they did some movie shots in too! Great hidden tour if you hate super crowded areas!
The kayaking is peaceful and you are surrounded by gorgeous scenery. Our guide, Meagan, was very knowledgeable and helpful! She gave us the right amount of guidance and freedom! We were worried at first about the hike and footwear- she did it barefoot- not that I recommend that, but water shoes or closed toe strapped sandals will be the best bets on this one because you’ll definitely want to try out the rope swing! So much fun! Our captain Nick on the boat ride back was great too! An amazing family experience we will never forget!
So much fun!! A definite highlight of our trip. Haylen was our tour guide and she was incredible! Outfitters Kauai should absolutely give her a raise!! She was easy going, lots of fun, super easy to chat with, made sure everyone was well taken care of and had any assistance they needed, maintained her energy and excitement through the entire tour, and was just really truly fantastic! We lucked out and had her again for the outfitters Kauai adrena-Zipline tour - also highly recommend!! She was made for this job! I have never kayaked before and the kayak ride was still very doable for me. (Definitely had sore arms the next day haha) It's a beautiful route down the river and then a gorgeous hike to the falls. Definitely go swim by the falls 😍 the lunch was yummy and filling and the whole tour was just perfect!
We had a great group of paddlers, which made it fun. Michael was so knowledgeable about Hawaiian history & told it well. He and Nick took good care of us.
Fun afternoon, great guides, enjoyed the trip! Nice way to see a special spot on Kaua'i. Recommended 😎
Great experience for all who want to truly see the island’s beauty. Waterfalls, river, trails, swimming, learn the plants from your trail guide- all in one.
We were fortunate to have Tony as our tour guide, whose quiet and friendly demeanor made the trip so enjoyable along with his stories of local legends. There were only four people on our tour so it was very intimate and peaceful with an easy kayak down the river to a nice little hike at the end up to some beautiful waterfalls where they did some filming of Pirates of the Caribbean four. We debated doing this one versus the Wailua river tour and heard that the other one is much more busy and crowded so we enjoyed The more quiet setting of this one. Definitely wear water friendly hiking sandals, and if you plan to jump into the pool near the waterfall or do the rope swing, wear your swimsuit.
Great fun, excellent guides. Enjoyed the experience. People of all ages and skill level enjoy this trip.
Moderate hike and depending on wind and weather moderate kayak up lovely river. Fun guides and great scenery.
This was good for our party of 9: family of 5 (kids 8, 10, 12), plus two grandparents in their 70's and an aunt and uncle in their 30's. You will ride in a tandem, so if your party size is odd, you'll buddy up with a stranger or guide. My athletic (but minimal arm strength) 10 & 12 year old were paired up and ended up getting towed by the kayak one of our guides rowed (thanks). Sore arms, but nothing too much. Muddy walk that a grandparent 3 months out from a hip replacement could do, albeit slower. Rope swing into the muddy water was a hit with the kids. Little fish (minnows?) that nibbled on my toes were fun. Capped it off with a small waterfall good for photo ops. It was great for our mixed skill/fitness levels (kids and grandparents being the outliers there).
Kayak up a beautiful river with dramatic mountains on one side. Kayaking was moderate level of activity. The hike was short but very muddy making it a bit more challenging knowledgeable and encouraging guide. Overall an exhilarating experience
Theo and Zeck were excellent tour guides. Between the two of them, they shared history, humor, and suggestions for local lunch spots afterwards. The only bummer was that due to the lack of rain over the last couple of weeks, the waterfalls were almost non-existent, but the swimming pools were still full. Overall, a great way to experience the river and the beauty of Kauai's land.
A great fun and easy row up river. A pretty spot with a few springs from the rocks that were very pretty and a swimming hole with a rope swing. And a bonus pedicure from the fish in another pond. Our guides were lovely- friendly, knowledgable and there to lend a hand if needed. They provided waterproof bags for our clothes and towels. Water and some reward cookies for the way back in the boat. It poured with rain on the way back On the boat but it wasn’t cold and it was all part of the fun. Hosed ourselves off back at base- prepare to be getting back into your car pretty wet.
Good tour, great people, good equipment and not too strenuous. Waterfalls are a little underwhelming. The motorboat return ride was very welcome as we got very wet from a rainstorm, the trail was very muddy. Several people bailed on the trek due to hiking risk of falling. Nick was a great guide and made the most of a very wet situation. Caution: No refund policy cost our companions 100% as a previous injury kept them off the tour.
Kayaking is fun but the hike was a let down. The “waterfall” was a small stream trickling down the rocks. The walk seemed manufactured to stretch out the experience. Would be better to call it a kayaking adventure.
They say to bring a swimsuit, but there is no place to change there so you need to wear one when you arrive. The guide is wonderful and allows everyone including the inexperienced to work their way through learning to kayak. It is a very relaxing trip.
Good trip! Tour guide was very knowledgeable and pointed out a lot of interesting sights! Especially from some well known movies! Hike wasn’t too hard. And kayaking was wonderful.
Had so much fun. Enjoyed seeing the turtle, pig, river, flowers, chickens, fish, rope swing and kayaks. Love the wilderness.
Nice trek down the river in kayak and easy to do if inexperienced like we were. Guides are great! Easy walk to hidden falls. Not big falls but fun to swing from rope and jump in water.
Eli was a great guide, very friendly and knowledgeable! We had a great time kayaking, hiking and swimming.
Caden and Eli was were awesome guides and knew a lot about the plants and animals we saw along the way. The trip was fun, informative and beautiful!
The tour guides were great but the falls were a little underwhelming. Eli and Isaiah were very friendly and patient with group.
Comfortable kayak, jungle hike, rope swing. Great guides….. what could be better?! And an easy motorized boat ride back!
Julia and Cayden were amazing and fun! The kids were a tiny bit disappointed the waterfall was not as big as they thought it would be, but the rope swing was a great surprise. Fun was had by all.
Awesome time! Highly recommend! Had a lot of fun kayaking the river and hiking to the cascading waterfall. Very cool!
Thankfully, this excursion wasn't as labor intensive as I was anticipating, most of our time on the kayak was with the wind which helped push us down the river. Then it was a short hike to the waterfall and rest spot you could dunk your feet for little fish to eat the dead skin (free spa day) or jump in the deeper end from the rope swing. It was a little muddy and had rained the day prior so we just had to watch our step through some mud, but overall not a too intensive hike. Loved getting to go back up the river in a boat and we could really take in the views and surrounding mountains from all angles.
Very fun and intimate. No large crowds. Guides were so much fun as well as the boat ride back!!!! River was beautiful ❤️
Loved the paddle and the hike. Michael was a great guide and had good stories. The falls, the rope swing and the bubbly fish were fun
A great adventure! As the oldest folks in the group (late 60s) we were worried about keeping up, but the kayaking and hiking was not difficult and we had a wonderful time. Our guides Eli and Halen were terrific!
Have a small dry pack with just essentials. Sunglasses and a hat. On the water get quite the sun reflection and can burn easily.
Our experience with Outfitters Kauai was absolutely fantastic! From start to finish, everything was well-organized, fun, and filled with breathtaking scenery. We kayaked along a beautiful river, swam in a refreshing waterfall, and soared through the treetops on an exhilarating zip line. Lunch was provided and was a perfect way to recharge in the middle of the adventure. A huge shoutout to our guides, Halen and Loni—they were both knowledgeable, fun, and made the entire experience even better with their enthusiasm and local insights. If you’re looking for an unforgettable way to explore Kauai, this is it! Highly recommend!
The guides were all knowledgeable and more importantly, were tons of fun and very patient. Highly recommend this tour.
First, let me start by saying the tour was great, our guide was knowledgeable, friendly and energetic. We had a great trip. However, we always follow the link sent by tour provider for the directions. When we did that, it took us to another location for the tour provider. When we arrived there, we met 3 of the the unfriendlinest people we met on our trip across 3 Hawaiian islands. When I told them we followed directions sent in the link by them, they questioned me and even looked at my phone to confirm it. When they realized their error, they said I should have typed in the address separately. I shared that they really need to update the link so they don’t have guests driving 30 minutes more to the tour, they remained stoaic and one of them said they would look into it. Unfortunately, despite the our tour guide and great tour, this company left a lasting negative memory for their lack of empathy, poor administration, and extremely poor customer service.
Outfitters Kauai is #1 for a reason. We had a great time on the Wailua Uluwehi Waterfall Kayak trip. Lono is a wonderful and knowledgeable guide - the best. Peggy made sure everything was organized and easy.
Great experience! Just the right amount of stress free activity. Our guide, Eli, was informative and funny! Great views and a fun time! Not crowded.
The kayak-hike was not what we expected and not worth $135.00 a person. Why? We were told by the resort where we were staying that it would be a 5-6 hour outing. Our total trip was about 4 hours. We were told to check in at the Outfitters Office so we did. When we got there, we were told that we could go with Lolo in the van, but that if we drove to Smith's Tropical Paradise ourselves we could leave directly after the tour from there (saving time having to go back to the Outfitters Office and more time on the road backtracking to our resort). So we then drove to Smith's, but that wasted a lot of time. Why not tell customers to report directly to Smith's? The hike: I understand with the narrow trails why we were single file on the hike. However, we were at the end, and by the time we got to the rest of the group, Lolo had already started to talk about the flora, history, etc., of the area. We missed a lot because of that and because we could not hear what he was saying. When we got to the falls, we expected people but not as many as there were. It was like a tropical Disney World, not the peaceful place we had hoped. Also, we barely had enough time there to take a dip in the water and eat a turkey sandwich. There was not enough time to appreciate the area although that would have been hard with so many people there. Lolo explained that there are seven tour companies. Why not stagger the days or times of arrival/departure so customers can truly appreciate the beauty of the area? Or give people maps, explain the dangers, charge a moderate fee for information and fee for kayak rental, and they can go on their own (as obviously locals or other people did). We booked the tour because obviously we were unfamiliar with the area, being from Pennsylvania, and expected it to be a more serene and informative hike. We also expected to learn a lot, as was advertised, about the area, which we didn't. The tour was not worth the $135 a person. No complaints about Lolo, a Kauai-born resident. I'm sure he knew a lot. It's just a shame we never got to learn more from him. We wouldn't recommend this tour. Any refund would be appreciated.
Our family, two parents and kids ages 20 and 18, just did this tour. It was beautiful! Our guide was Megan and she was very knowledgeable about the local legends and folklore as well as all the plants, native and invasive. The kayak portion and the hike was not really difficult.
We had a great time on this tour and our guide was fantastic. The Kayak trip up the river was easy to manage and the hike enjoyable. We really appreciated the motorized boat back. I would recommend this tour to others who just want a nice quick 3 hour tour to see some sites.
Just the right amount of kayaking and hiking. The guides were great and the tour was well organized. We had a blast.
It was an amazing experience. Tour guide Megan is awesome. Easy to check and checkout. No parking hassle.
Bruce and Ben were excellent guides. We had so much fun. Loved kayaking up the river and the hike to the hidden falls was great
Patty was very friendly and super knowledgeable of the area . Ben was great and super nice as well . Bring bug spray . The experience was great and glad we booked it
The trip was about 45 minutes of kayaking with the current, then about 1 1/2 -2 hours of time hiking back to some waterfall. We got to use a rope swing and jump into the lagoon where the waterfalls were. Water was treat. We had good water shoes and I’d definitely recommend those. Can’t say enough great things about Ryker, our guide!

We did the 6 hour tour with kayaking, swimming, zip lining, and a boat. I've never done something like this so I didn't know what to expect but it was amazing! They thought of every small detail, water was ready for us anytime I started to get thirsty, the lunch was good, the views were unmatched, and the guides were very knowledgeable and enjoyable! The only scary part for me was the suspension bridge but we were perfectly safe. Patti and Kannan were our guides and I would ask for them both in the future.
Patty our guide was great with teaching us how to paddle and steer. Hiking with Patty providing knowledge of plants and animals.
Due to rain the prior week our tour had to be rescheduled to a shorter kayak tour by lihue airport with a hike and a motorized return ride. While that was understandable the kayak portion was both short and not challenging or exciting followed by a muddy hike where the path and surrounding area had also been decimated by the prior weeks rain. As we were somehow still ahead of schedule the gude decided to take a longer hike but realizing that the alternate exit was no longer available. We had to climb under a barb wired fence with his assistance to get to the boat dock. This was not what we expected and didn't enjoy the tour although we have done several other kayak and tubing tours in the past
