Kauai: Napali Boat Tour On The Amelia K

Great boat tour! Crew was super knowledgeable and fun. Highly recommend.

The staff was great and made the experience fun and interesting. I got lots of education about the Nepali coast. The views were amazing. The captain was awesome and got our large boat into an awesome sea cave! I saw lots of dolphins which was a highlight for me! Unfortunately, it began raining about halfway through the tour and rained the remainder of the way back so we were not able to snorkel, but we were able to jump into the sea for a swim. Be prepared for rain and bring a rain jacket and preferably a waterproof bag or backpack to keep your things in case it rains more than just a shower. I took a Dramamine before the trip just in case and the sea was a little rough, but I felt great and no one on our trip was seasick. Would recommend!

Take motion sickness medication! Absolutely professional crew!!! Plan to get wet and have a blast!!! So glad I chose Makana charters !!!!!

We had the best time, the scenery was epic! The crew on the Amelia Kay were absolutely wonderful, they made sure everyone was comfortable and taken care of, knowledgeable giving us detailed history and stories about the area. We went in late October, water rougher and unable to snorkel but it was totally worth going!

Excellent trip, lovely crew, and wonderful captain. BTW - it gets SUPER choppy out there. Don’t think you’ll get sea sick? You will! My poor mother was ill for the entire second half of the trip. Even I got a little nauseous and I’ve never been sea sick in my life. Toni and Lionel were so good to my mother, and did everything to make sure she was comfortable on the way back. And Captain Makana was a joy! Definitely recommend. Just with a side of Dramamine.

Great overall experience. The crew was very good giving us fantastic encounters with spinner dolphins and beautiful views of the cliffs. The boat was designed for speed and capacity and so was not as comfortable as I expected. The lunch was OK. The conditions did not allow us to snorkel or swim.

Amazing and unforgettable! The crew goes out of their way to make sure you are having a good time. Such a great day!

Awesome tour with Captain Mike, Charly and Elijah. The staff made sure we were safe, were super friendly and took great care of us! I was nervous about motion sickness so we opted for the Amelia K and the first tour of the day. It was a bumpy ride this far into fall but I didn't have any issues (some other passengers did). Stunning coastline and a must do on your trip!

Fun trip. The crew was great. The lunch was yummy. Saw a lot of spinner dolphins. Captain maneuvered the bow of the boat into a sea cave.

This tour was the highlight of our Kauai vacation. Spectacular unique scenery only visible by boat, flying, or hiking in. We were treated to a double rainbow as we cruised the coastline!

Dear friends around the world this was one of the greatest adventures I’ve ever been on. The boat ride to the Nepali coast was stunningly beautiful beyond one’s imagination, the captain of the Amelia K knows the ocean like we know our bathtubs. We went partially into caves as close as the captain safely could go a very thrilling experience. The whole team took care of us like we were family. The joy they get of sharing their neighborhood. 1000 thanks get the whole crew.♥️🌏

Great crew and nice boat. The coastline is truly one of the most beautiful places on earth! The crew is knowledgeable and obviously connected to the island. I would and will recommend them to anyone I know that is traveling here.

If sea sickness is a thing take precautions! For everyone else, this is a must do for your Kauai trip!

My daughter and I just went today and had Makuna , Elijah and Charlie as crew. This crew was so attentive, engaging, knowledgeable and most of all fun to be with. They get the boat up super close to some caves and slowed down to give plenty of picture taking opportunities. It wasn’t safe today to snorkel at the Na Pali coast so the captain let us snorkel at a calmer spot on the return back. I researched many companies but am so glad I went with Makuna Charters on the Amelia K.

So so very wonderfully worth every penny. Gorgeous views, swim, and crew. Tim, Leroy and Tony all made it super special. We didn’t catch the dolphins this time… so might just have to take the morning tour at some point.

The boat trip was one of the highlights of our stay in Kauai. The staff was friendly but strict with the security and the sailor navigated expertly into caves and near the coast. For me the highlight was the snorkeling. I am a good swimmer and I have a big beard so the snorkeling gear doesn't work for me but I had my swimming glasses and they had rubber fins for me even my shoe size is 13. And the sea was beautiful and not too cold.

We understand this was the first day back from the hurricane. The tour guides were phenomenal BUT because we did the afternoon cruise there was not enough time for the snorkeling. The cruise started at 2 and the sunset at 6 so it was really only 4 hours not 5. We felt somewhat misled that the snorkeling could not happen because of time constraints. They did tell us the morning cruise did snorkel. So it feels like the afternoon cruise should be charged less because snorkeling is not possible due to the sunsetting earlier. This was a huge disappointment. The captain did his hardest to make it happen. But when the morning tour ends at 1, there is just not enough time for the afternoon people. We felt this should be in the booking details and that the afternoon cruise price should be modified to reflect this.

Great experience! Great crew and amazing captain. Must do tour. If you are a cruiser you must get there and back yourself. Be sure to either rent a car or have a return trip set up prior to being dropped off. No Ubers on that side of the island and a taxi back to the ship can run around $85.

This was my and my wife’s fist time to Kauai and we are so glad we took this adventure.

They canceled our scheduled boat, then scheduled us to another location with a $22 parking surcharge in addition to the tour price. Original location parking was free. Poor way to do business. Crew on boat was excellent.

Such a great experience! The boat trip along the Na Pali coast was wonderful, and everything was explained really well throughout. We got to see everything we were hoping for, with plenty of time to enjoy the views without feeling rushed. I would definitely recommend it.

10000000/10 recommend! One of the coolest experiences I’ve ever had. The crew was wonderful, knowledgeable, and provided a perfect experience. Definitely bring an arsenal for sea sickness if that’s something you struggle with due to the rough waters. I was able to manage mine with some medication.

This tour was absolutely a must do. Captain Tim drove the boat and kept the sprays from getting us and was very personable. He is also easy on the eyes as well! Uncle Lionel and Leilani provided support roles and answered questions from us and Leilani was very knowledgeable about Kauai being a native Kauaian. The coast is amazing and it was a stellar trip.

Last minute they’ve cancelled my reservation and moved to some other agency. They’ve charged $340 but Viator charged me $450 this is ridiculous, I’m going to take further action on this.

Our guides were fantastic! We were on the Seiko 2. The ride was a bit rough(ish) because it is one of the smaller boats, but the Captain was able to take us back into the caves. Highly recommended!

Absolutely amazing tour! The waves were choppy but our captain was a great navigator! We went into caves and through waterfalls! Saw so much of the gorgeously mysterious Na Pali Coast! The crew was informative, friendly, and helpful! One person on the crew even offered to take my incredibly excited 4 year old into the water for a swim, because I unfortunately got hit with a bad case of sea sickness. The crew took care of me and my family and were so caring. Truly an experience we will remember. We plan to definitely rebook on our next visit, once I get the proper meds for sea sickness! 😂

I do not feel the communication was as good as it should have been here. I accept I had a little bit to do with that. My boat tour date was cancelled due to unfavorable ocean conditions. I got that. The tour company rescheduled the tour for 2 days later on a different boat but the same experience. I thought it was for the same 200 pm time slot. The day of the reschedule I received a phone call about 830 am asking where we were. The caller did not initially identify themselves, and the airplane tour I had scheduled for that morning had just been cancelled at the last minute. So I was initially confused why I had a text saying my excursion was cancelled and a phone call saying "where are you". I explained that I thought the tour was cancelled. The caller eventually said something about a boat just before the call ended. I called back to clarify which tour this was. I was told the tour company would call me back to discuss the situation in a couple hours. I never received a call, so I called/emailed them about noon. I then received an email or text message communicating that we were a no show so we eat the cost. It sounds like it would have been a great experience. I would recommend a friend look at the tour, but with the caveat to make sure to communicate well.

Fabulous!!!! Crew very knowledgeable, conscientious. They were very attentive to passengers who got sea sick, provided help immediately and for the most part headed off the symptoms. It was too murky for snorkeling, so they brought the creatures to us by catching a huge fish and an octopus!!! The coast is unmatched beauty.

What a great way to see the Napali coast with knowledgeable guides. We stopped for a quick swim. Kids got to jump off the boat and we even got lucky and hauled in a couple fish on the return trip!

It was an amazing day! Not one negative thing to say. If you get motion sickness definitely take Dramamine and bring a rain jacket! Pictures cannot do this never do justice to the sights you will see!

From start to finish this boat ride was wonderful. Experienced, knowledgeable crew that entertained and educated us during our cruise along the beautiful NaPali coast. We were lucky the waters were clear and we could snorkel and enter some caves, two things that are completely weather-dependent. And the included lunch hit the spot after our morning on the water. Highly recommend this tour!

This was by far the best experience on the island! Captain Rob, Jasmine and Leroy were the best! The boat was comfortable and smooth! I would highly recommend anyone looking to view the Napali Coast book this tour!

Great day with a great crew! The seas were a little choppy and that made for rough going some of the time, but Captin A'alona and Kaiao were wonderful. Due to the hurricaine last month the harbor where the larger boat is docked was not accessible, Makana charters did a great pivot and we went out of a smaller harbor on a smaller boat. The views were incredible! I have been to Kaua'i a few times and never saw this part of the island. Sooooo worth it.

The scenery is breathtaking, the crew was awesome, and the sandwiches were really good. Would highly recommend!
