The trip was a full day with great sites to see. The blow hole, Waimea Canyon, picking up Masadas at a local bakery (which were wonderful, we also bought a couple apple turnover for breakfast the next day), and the beautiful southshore. Our favorite parts of the trip were the Blow Hole , waimea Canyon (with great views) and lunch, where we had opportunity to enjoy good food and meet and talk with our fellow travelors. Our guide shared lots of significant i formation about the Islabd and what we were seeing. He was friendly and very approachable. Our least favorite part of the trip were the small town stores wherever stopped for shopping. The stores did not hold much appeal for us. The owner was in contact with us about the trip confirming details. We saw much hurricane damage, but the Island is healing g and the damage did not impact our trip at all. 5 stars and much appreciation.

Itinerary
Our Adventure begins with a brief stop at Kauai Bakery. We will pick up some fresh made pastries to go and enjoy at the Kauai Coffee Company (3rd stop on tour). If you never tried our famous malasadas, aka Portuguese donuts, this will be your chance. They also have an array of other sweet and savory pastries.
Our adventure continues to the south side of kauai with a drive through the famous Tree Tunnel planted in 1912. In Poipu we will visit the beautiful Spouting Horn, an extinct lava tube that became a water geyser. Marvel at the power of nature as the waves crash on the shore and water rushes through the tube like a geyser. Your guide will share the legend of the site, sound effects and all.
Next in our journey is a visit to the magical world of coffee, Kauai Coffee Co., the largest plantation in the USA. Time to eat your pastries and sample delicious and free coffee at the visitor center. During your visit you can also take a stroll through the coffee tree garden, and shop for a wide selection of the freshest beans at their gift shop. Don’t like coffee? Enjoy an ice cream or cold beverage at the snack shop.
Waimea Canyon State Park is one of Kauai's natural wonders, known as the mini Grand Canyon of the Pacific. Marvel at this geological gem from various lookouts as we ascend the mountain. We will get out of the van at 3 different locations to take pictures of different angles of the Canyon, including the main lookout at 3400' elevation. Take the day off from driving. Breath the fresh mountain air. Majestic beauty at its finest!
Around 12:30-1 pm we will head to the beautiful grounds of the Waimea Plantation Cottages built in the early 1900's during the sugar plantation days. Overlooking at the blue Pacific Ocean and many tropical trees, we will enjoy delicious lunch at famous Chicken in a Barrel, with the largest beer wall on island. After lunch you will have the option to take a leisure stroll through the beautifully landscaped property to visit Waimea Bay, one of our few black sand beaches, and Captain Cook's first landing place in Hawaii.
Last on our journey is a visit to the charming and historic town of Hanapepe. Step back in time and take a walk across the famous swinging bridge, built in 1912. This is a good town to seat down and watch people go by while enjoying some fresh squeezed lemonade, and/or shop for some wonderful souvenirs made in the state and by local artisans. For Disney lovers, this is the town that inspired the original film Lilo & Stich.

Our guide Allen was very nice with lots of info about the island. It was nice to go with a guide and see the things without getting lost on our own.
Allen was a fantastic guide and outstanding driver. We would have never attempted the drive to the canyon on our own. We’re knowledgeable and responsive to our needs and questions. Great tour!!!!
Allen was terrific—knowledgeable, quick witted, flexible , aware of each character on the tour and very helpful. Frequent stops but not so many as you didn’t not want to get out of the van.
Knowledgeable, friendly, fun tour guide. Spent enough time at each stop. Many restrooms along the way. Small group allowed us to set the pace. Covered the highlights of the island.
Coco was an amazing tour guide. So knowledgeable and friendly, she really made an otherwise long day go by fast. The van was impeccably clean and comfortable. It also helped that we had a lively and engaged, small group. There wasn’t a question that was asked that Coco didn’t know the answer to.
We originally booked through Viator for a Small group excursion but due to it not being fully booked, Coco from Kauai Soul Travel, LLC called me and offered us and another couple a semi private tour and it was delightful! Met Coco at Kauai Bakery where we purchased some malasadas to take with us to Kauai Coffee. Coco was a wonderful tour guide along the drive sharing with us all about Kauai and Hawaiian traditions and so much more! After Kauai Coffee where we spent some time doing a walking tour, purchasing coffee (and they’ll ship home) and enjoying some delicious cold Kauai Coffee and the malasadas, we were on our way to Waimea Canyon. Coco pulled over numerous times so we could get different views of the canyon and able to take pictures. Arriving at Waimea Canyon we spent time there taking pictures and enjoying the exquisite views. Coco took us to a special place for lunch called Kokee Lodge. She called ahead with our lunch orders and we found a table and our food served almost immediately - no waiting in line! That was great! Lunch was delicious and then we were on our way to see more of the Canyon. On our way down we stopped at the town of Hanapepe where we spent some time there doing the Swinging bridge and shopping and taking pictures at the Lilo and Stitch mural. All during our adventure, Coco continued to share with us about the different towns, all about the sugar cane that once thrived in Kauai, the different sites we should see and more. She recommended the Plantation Train and Rum tasting at the historic Kilohana Plantation that we weren’t aware of. Coco has been on the island for 30 years and knows so much about Kauai. My husband and I highly recommend Coco at Kauai Soul Travel for all your tour needs. Call Coco at 808-652-2247 and she will give you great ideas on what you should see during your stay at Kauai.
Our guide was fabulous! Not only saw sites but also learned about culture, history, geology, flora and fauna. She was also very fun and personable. Have done this tour with other tour group. This one was hands down the very best!!!!!
Excellent tour with our amazing, enthusiastic guide, Shasta! We met the small tour bus just a 10-min walk from the cruise terminal. The moment Shasta greeted us with her sparkling smile and enthusiastic "aloha," we knew it was going to be a fantastic day! This young lady is full of information, historical & current, and shared it throughout the adventure. All of the stops were wonderful, NOT crowded and the perfect spacing between them. Shasta's mom, Coco, is the other half of this excellent business. They will customize a tour, especially for you! So glad we found this excursion!
This small group tour was made so fun by nice people and Shasta! Shasta was very knowledgeable about the places she took us to on Kauai.
Coco Marie was great! We all loved her. She was funny, full of Interesting Hawaii facts and lore about the islands. She also helped everyone who needed assistance. We had a great time!
It was very fun trip, though the weather was not the best, we had a lot of laughs, and the sights were impressive and enjoyable! Coco-the tour operator made it a experience to remember, and shared her wisdom, and she is authentic.
Kauwai Soul Travel is an Amazing mother-daughter run business focused on the traditions, lore, landscape and flora/fauna of their beautiful homeland.
Coco was amazing! Fun gal and very knowledgeable. We would give her a 10000 if that was the top rating. All the sites and places she took us were great. Food and smoothie stop were terrific too. The small group was perfect. We really liked not being in a large group like a herd of cattle. We would HIGHLY recommend this company. Thank you Coco for a great day!
The scenery was spectacular. Not only were the final destinations amazing, but she made several stops along the way. We had the opportunity to take pics, eat and socialize. Coco Marie was a fabulous tour guide. She was knowledgeable, funny, engaging and entertaining. She has small groups so it’s more personal. I highly recommend. I went on two tours with her. Both were amazing!
Shasta did a great job pointing out sights along the way, explaining folklore, pointing out various plants, trees and flowers. Village’s we passed through histories also covered in detail. Lots of chances to self explore. We enjoyed the Kauai Coffee plantation stop, walking the streets of Hanapepe and its suspension bridge. But the best part was touring Waimea Canyon, really spactular! Shasta took many pictures for each group so all could be included. Much appreciated!
Tour this beautiful island with a knowledgeable guide. This was my husband’s first time to Kauai, and he really enjoyed the tour! From local places to eat, coffee plantations and breathtaking views of the canyon, we highly recommend this tour, and especially the tour guide.
Coco is the best Tour Guide in Kauai. Fun, interesting stories, and safety. This is our second tour with Coco. Last was January 2020. Coco knows Kauai and always brings the tour to beautiful places.
Best tour of our trip by far. Worked great for us because you can decide how much physical activity you do. Worth every penny. Shasta was amazing and made sure everyone was happy the whole day. She is very knowledgeable and has the best laugh!! Great stories about herself and the island. We had a smaller group also so we talked and laughed and wasn’t crowded at all. Will do it again next year 😃
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our tour. Coco is great. She is enthusiastic, knowledgeable and fun. We were joined by 2 other couples and I am certain they enjoyed the outing as much as we did. It's a great time, I would highly recommend this. Tom Marks
This was a wonderful excursion for us. Coco was so personable. She was very knowledgeable about the whole area we were traveling. Her van was clean and comfortable. She and her daughter are the only ones that takes the groups around. They both are just precious! When we go back to Kaua'i we will use her company again to learn more about the area. You will not go wrong with Coco!
Amazing Experience! Shasta was wonderful! She was so fun and gave us a great tour of the island. We loved seeing Waimea Canyon and our visits to Kaua'i Coffee and Kaua'i Bakery. We were fortunate to have only a few people on our tour so it was really personalized. I would highly recommend this tour over the cruise ship option.
Great company. Our tour had to be rescheduled and Coco was great to work with. She gave us several options for rescheduling. She was also extremely communicative. Shasta was a great tour guide and really took care of us. We stopped for Malassadas (YUM) before going to the Kauai Coffee Company. Then on to the beautiful Waimea Canyon. After that was lunch and a short shopping stop. We really enjoyed our tour.
The tour company and our driver did a wonderful job of taking into account the weather conditions to maximize the experience for our group. The overall tour was fantastic and our driver was very knowledgeable and fun!! Thank you for making our tour of your lovely island a lasting experience
Sasha was the BEST tour guide we have ever had. She was so knowledgeable about the islands, shared history, mythology and personal stories. The canyon was beautiful and Sasha knew the best places to stop. Whole visiting Kauai Coffee, she explained how the Bern’s grow and pointed out the different stages as we walked among the trees. I can’t begin to put everything here. If you are looking for a tour in Kauai, this is the one you want!
This was a spectacular tour with a knowledgeable and fun tour guide. Coco was amazing! We are a 3 generation family of 9 and we had a wonderful tour with a lot of driving and some short walks. From the Kaua’i bakery to Chicken in a Barrel to Kaua’i Coffee the food choices were excellent! It was a 6.5 hour tour and we saw beaches and trails to revisit later in our trip. Coco got us to amazing views and made fabulous recommendations.
The information provided was so interesting and informative. Shasta was so sweet and enjoyable to spend the day with. She made sure we didn't miss any views and gave us a list of restaurants and other places to visit during our stay on the island.
Great tour led by Shasta! We was incredibly knowledgeable and personable. She treated our family very well and ensured we had a great time. Booking the tour with Coco was quite easy and a very pleasing process. I would definitely book with them again and would highly recommend them.
We traveled with Shasta, who was energetic, patient, informative, and flexible, and who excelled at bringing our group together. The itinerary was perfect, including the dining experience at the Plantations. Although it was a long day, the time flew by, and we learned so much about the island and its culture.
Great tour, CoCo was excellent, friendly and informative. Took us to a lot of great places for pics, also great food stops
Shasta was an awesome tour guide, very energetic and entertaining. The canyon, of course, was the best part of the tour and we were lucky enough to have great weather!
What a great tour. The owner-guide is really knowledgeable about the island. So much information about the coffee plantation to the canyon. We happen to go on this tour on Thanksgiving Day. The coffee plantation was closed. We still got to walk around the trees learning how they pick and prepare the beans. Then came the Canyon. So amazing and huge. We had a fun time with Coco. She really gives a good tour and it was fun getting to know her. When we get back to Kauai, we will definitely go on another tour with her. Top notch. Dont pass her tours up.
This was a great tour, about 7 hours of sightseeing at a reasonable price. The guide's narration was not spectacular but very informative. The scenery was terrific and the ride was smooth with enough stops to make it comfortable. One caveat, although Viator sent a confirmation and a QR code for the tour, the tour operator indicated that it might not happen if not enough people signed up.
We booked this tour for our first day on the island and I would highly recommend you do the same. It's great way to get a general layout of where everything is and to plan for places you want to go back to while on your trip. Coco Maria was fantastic and gave us so many tips and ideas for how to spend the remainder of our trip. Her extensive knowledge living on the island for so long was truly helpful to us. Her love and knowledge of the island's history also enriched our time there and inspired us to plan another Polynesian adventure. This is time and money well spent to enhance the rest of your trip! We will be looking forward to seeing her again on our next visit to Kauai'i!
Absolutely incredible day. Shasta and Punohu were phenomenal, incredibly friendly, and knowledgeable. Unforgettable
WOW! What an amazing experience we had! Me, my 4-year-old daughter, sister, brother-in-law and 5-year-old nephew were in Kauai for only one day and we thank God that our initial plan to take a boat trip got cancelled as Kauai Soul Travel was really a God send. Even from the first conversation with Coco when we booked the trip I had a very pleasant feeling that I was talking to someone that deeply cared about maximizing the things we see on our trip even for only the few hours we were there. Coco arranged everything from pickup to drop-off based on our flight information and made the entire process seamless. Our guide Shasta was fantastic! She showed outstanding communication skills and knowledge of the attractions, always providing context and backstories that made the entire trip beautiful. My family has taken many tours all over the world but Shasta was by far the best guide we ever had. She went above and beyond to make us comfortable and not have to worry about anything since the pickup until drop-off. She took us for some amazingly delicious pastry right after pickup, then later to lunch where she even offered to wait for our food and bring the car from the parking while we were enjoying the surroundings. Shasta was amazing with the little ones too, always watching them and making sure they are safe and that they are having the best time of their lives. The views were spectacular as we saw canyons, waterfalls, old cities, beaches and many more and Shasta knew exactly where to take us, many times in other places from where most tourists went so we truly felt like we were getting a private tour. The price of the trip was also very good and more than reasonable so we are happy on that aspect too. But just the time we spent on the island was really unforgettable, the connection we made with Shasta and her home will be forever in our hearts. She is truly passionate about showing visitors her home and like I mentioned before she seems to know a lot about every little thing on the island. I write this review very emotional because honestly the feeling we had is that we didn't just take a tour but a close friend showed us around and helped us have a wonderful time while we were there. Thank you Coco and Shasta for your amazing selves and I hope and pray your business continues to thrive and excel as it does today and has done so far. You really made us feel special! God bless you!
Excellent journey and views. Mountains, beach and much more We saw the Lilo and Stitch inspiration town, so beautiful and funny
We had so much fun on this tour. Coco was the best. If we come back, we will try out another one of her tours
Kauai Soul Travel is the best! Coco’s company knows how to show off her island. The small group tour was the best way to go and the trip was flexible and easy to negotiate the highlighted stops.
One of the best tours ever, beautiful perfect day. Shasta was the best guide, sweet, fun, gave us cool history, made us laugh and took amazing care of us! The van was super comfortable and spotless (the best of any tour I’ve been on). Shasta took extra time to make sure we had a perfect trip and went above and beyond!!! Each stop was breathtaking, fun and magical. Will book again for sure! Dream trip! Thanks Shasta and Coco! Mahalo! 🥰🌺🤙🏽
Highly recommended! Coco was absolutely fantastic - the best tour guide we have encountered in recent memory. Her knowledge and clear interest in all things Kauai is both infectious and extensive. We weren’t driving, so this tour was perfect for seeing the west of the island comfortably. The stops at Hanapepe, Spouting Horn and the coffee company were all good, but the highlight was of course Waimea canyon. Coco was also very communicative close to the trip and helped us when there was sudden torrential rain the morning of the trip - luckily the weather cleared up. She also loved our resourcefulness in borrowing a beach umbrella from the hotel (which worked brilliantly despite the strange looks) as we came otherwise unprepared for rain - a rookie mistake for Kauai!
Shasta was a terrific guide. She was well versed about everything we saw and about Hawaiian history, flora, language, etc. She has a wonderful bubbly personality that made everything interesting and fun. We spent some time browsing in Hanapepe, a charming little town. The Spouting Horn was pretty amazing to hear and see. Waimea Canyon was beautiful and we took many photos. We lunched at Chicken in a Barrel at the Plantation House and the meal was quite tasty and the portion quite generous. This is a tour we would recommend as an enjoyable and educating day trip in Kauai.
Sit back and relax. Let Coco do the driving while you enjoy the stunning views. Fun day, exploring the canyon and overlooks and points of interest. Bakery and lunch delicious and great service. Clean rest stops.
We had a wonderful time with Coco. She is such a special tour guide and has loads of fascinating stories to share. We took her Westside Tour last year and once again we were wowed by her knowledge of the island. You will not be disappointed if you take a tour with Coco.
Our tour and Coco were both amazing! We saw gorgeous sights, and Coco taught us so much history along the way, gave us tips and suggestions, and took photos for us. Even our younger kids (3 and 5 years) enjoyed the tour. She also went above and beyond by giving us beach and food recommendations for our family while we were there. Highly recommend!
The tour was a great way to get a good overview of the island and its history. Coco was informative and pleasant. We had a great time and got great ideas for other things to see on the island.
We went on the Kauai highlights tour and it was absolutely wonderful. We highly recommend this tour and Coco goes above and beyond to make sure everyone has a great time. She is very friendly and kind and shares so many tips about the island. Simply the best!! 🎵
We thoroughly enjoyed the tour with mama Coco. She made the trip informative and fun!! All of her stops were great and we saw so much in one day. The van was clean, cool and comfortable. So much to learn and experience on this tour!! So happy we decided to do this!!
It’s a great small group bus tour. Coco is very knowledgeable of the history & fantastic hostess. Also a fantastic lunch stop during our tour. We highly recommend it.
Coco Maria from Kauai Soul Travel deserves recognition for the wonderful experience she provided to all of us. Excellent communication from the start, punctuality in picking us up in a very nice and super clean van, extremely well organized providing us with bathroom breaks, lunch and snack, and knowledgeable/entertaining information about the places we visited. But, above all, the friendliness and comradery we experienced during this tour thanks to her. A perfect recipe for an unforgettable experience in the gorgeous places we visited. Big hugs Coco from all of us!
