Kauai Snorkeling Adventure

This wonderful family run business were amazing with the direction and info about where to take the equipment to snorkel. The motor unit was amazing!! We got a great map and perfect instruction- no surprises. Right down to were to remember your landmarks. I snorkeled out pretty far. We saw 4 sea turtles and fish I never knew existed. A really great day.

We had a fantastic time! All necessary gear was provided and the owners are super friendly. The nearest beach isn’t ideal for snorkeling. Plan for transportation to and from another beach.

The gentleman at the desk was very nice and helpful. I would definitely recommend the sea scooters they were the highlight!

The description makes it sound like you will be taken to the snorkeling site after meeting with someone at the mall kiosk but you will not have ANY transportation. The equipment was all adequate and in good working condition. The customer service was good.

Easy check in and check out of the equipment. Explained how to use equipment in simple terms and pointed out where best viewing would be taking into account the weather that was happening that day.

They sold us a boat and snorkeling tour but was just snorkeling gear. The tour provider is refusing to take any responsibility

This is basically an equipment rental place-period. They give you the equipment, a worthless map of the island, and tell you what beaches you shouldn't go to because of rough water. Period.

This is an equipment rental storefront only. The equipment wasn't a nice as our own snorkel equipment. They will give you a map to a beach. We rented 3 of the sea scooters, masks, snorkels, and fins. The battery on one only lasted just over an hour. The other 2 scooter batteries were in the red at just under 2 hour mark. The gentleman who issued the equipment, said no one ever turned in one with a dead battery. Must have a fluke the scooters didn't last long?? We ended up using our own masks and snorkels, we didn't use the fins at all.

This was a pretty cool adventure with cool eqpt. Upon booking, I didn’t realize we’d be own though out the day but the manager gave us insight for a great experience. It’s very hard to get an Uber here so at the end of the day we were grateful she came to pick us up from the beach

Absolute rip off! Drove all the way to Lihue and paid $369 for three people to snorkel back in Poipu when could have rented the gear right at Poipu for a LOT less. Expected a guided experience for that price but was just given the equipment and told to bring it back by 3pm. Very disappointed.

You will be on your own. You will drive to the beach of your choice, but it will be only with your party. Pretty simple to snorkel though and using the motorized water scooter thing.

All self guided. They basically give you equipment and a map and you are sent on your way. I would recommend a guided snorkeling adventure where you take a boat out and snorkel. We saw nothing which was disappointing after spending so much money.

Kelly was awesome. She got us all set up with our equipment and made sure we knew where we were going. The drive up to the north coast took an hour because of construction but was worth it. We saw a sea turtle and lots of fish. The beach we were at wasn’t too crowded and we felt very comfortable as the water was quite shallow. When I had originally booked the tour I had thought it was guided which it is not (it is clear on the website so this was my oversight) but it worked out well as our kids are older and we have snorkeled a couple of times before.

Difficult to use in strong surf. No way not to get sand in motor on the sandy beach. Charged for it.

Great equipment rental but not a boat trip . Must have own transportation to get around. They give great maps to show where to snorkel. Kelly was Very friendly.

We had a lot of fun! We liked that we didn’t have to have a guide and could go at our own pace and decide which beach to use the equipment at. We saw turtles, a reef shark and all kinds of beautiful fish. Would definitely rent from here again!🩵 Shop owner was friendly, helpful and great to work with!

The motors aren’t strong enough to pull a 200 pound person —the motors last for 45 minutes and I got cut up on the reef with bloody knees . Why they do 3 hours rentals is beyond me.

The check-in process was quick and easy and Kelly was delightful to work with. The equipment worked well and we got great videos on our go pro.

The owner made the difference in this trip! She is very knowledgeable about the equipment she rents and the waters to use it. She willingly shares her wealth of knowledge and expertise. Thank you Kelly!

Local business providing snorkeling gear and sea scooters. Great experience! We were provided all the snorkeling gear including a scooters. We were provided maps of the best snorkeling beach for that days weather. Great instruction for use of the gear and finding best areas of the water to find fish and sea turtles. Highly recommend and will rent from them again!!

This review is split. One part for the customer service and another for the actual experience. Although it is difficult to understand everything from the description on Viator. It MUST be explained that not only is this self guided, but you need to pick up the equipment and drive 45 minutes to the north shore. Then after you use the equipment you must have it back the 45 minute ride by 3 pm. Also, no one is there to help with the equipment once you arrive at your location. We opened the bag and one of the goggles was missing a lense. snorkeling at the location she suggested was AMAZING! Having to rush to get the stuff back was stressful! I found out all of this information 24 hours before our excursion and she refused to allow me to cancel. We had 8 people in our party and it was a lot to maneuver. Way more than any of that was her demeanor. Upon our arrival she did not say good morning, instead “I thought you weren’t coming” then proceeded to tell me she was just able to cancel me because I was late. My Viator voucher said 10:00. We arrived at 10:02. She said I was supposed to be there at 9:15???? The sign says she opens at 9:30. At any rate most definitely one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. Understand what you are paying for a do not expect a warm and fuzzy greeting and then you won’t be disappointed!

We had a blast using the scooters to snorkel. They lasted for the whole time we were snorkeling in the water. We swam with 2 turtles and lots of colorful fish. The coral was like nothing I have ever seen before. This was one of our favorite experiences on Kauai. We absolutely recommend snorkeling with these scooters. Go see Sensational Sea Adventures in Lihue.

Its in the listing so not their fault, but just wanted to reiterate, its just equipment rental, not a tour and you have to drive to usage location. Usage area is 30 min drive from rental location. battery died on one of the jet packs after about 45 min

Unfortunately we weren’t able to snorkel because of storms, but the company quickly refunded us. We’ll work with them next time we’re on the island.

This was such an amazing activity to do! My family and I have never been snorkeling before and this experience was awesome!!!! 100% recommend ❤️

Fantastic experience swimming around the coral and tropical fish. Saw an octopus hiding in the rocks. The sea scooters worked great. Had an awesome time at Poipu Beach, only wish we had found the sea turtles in the water.

This was absolutely amazing. The owner was great and gave us so much information to go on. I would recommend this to everyone I know because it one of the best things to do on this island 🏝 👌

Loved this service and would definitely use it again. We got all the gear we would need for a day of snorkeling adventures, as well as detailed guidance on where to go and what to expect. We then got to enjoy the day at our own pace with the loaned gear, which was wonderful (note, this service doesn’t include transportation or a tour guide). Super friendly and helpful. Worse excursion that our group had ever tried to do. The water was so rough that we couldn’t even try to snorkel. The area we were sent to snorkel was so rocky you couldn’t even get into water safely. We called and were told unless the life guards said it was too rough we were basically out of luck. We were only told one place to go and at this beach we saw a guy get pulled under the water and they had to have an ambulance come and administer first aid. No way were we going to get into the water as we did not feel safe. We had asked before we went out and assured it was safe. Would definitely not recommend doing this excursion what a waste of money!

Great customer service, however, it was very overpriced for what we received. Basically, it’s a scooter rental and two maps that are given to you. You are the one taking yourself on a snorkel adventure with no real insight. Just given two maps, boundaries, and you’re off! I would not do this again. I would much rather do an actual snorkel excursion tour and see some amazing sights. We only saw tiny fish and some sea cucumbers. Not great and don’t recommend.

We were able to swim next to a turtle he was 5 feet in length absolutely amazing! The entire adventure was phenomenal. Wonderful people will definitely be back. Thank you.

We saw turtles being cleaned by schools of fish. This was recommended by the organizer. She gave us a map with the best locations to snorkel.

Easy and so much fun!! Experience NOT needed. Kelly was terrific at guiding us to a great beach for snorkeling. Use common sense and your battery will last for hours. I pulsed and never used high speed. Awesome.

We had a great time snorkeling. The equipment was high quality and worked well. The only problem we had was that when we got to the beach we were short one set of flippers. But we made the best of it and got to see sea turtles, lots of different corals and fish. I would highly recommend it, it was definitely a highlight on our trip.

We didn’t realize that we wouldn’t have an actual tour guide. We went with kids ages 10-13 and while the older kids loved the sea scooters, the little ones struggled a bit with theirs. It was a little overpriced for having to put in the work to find the beaches with the maps given and navigating the crowds.. I believe this would be wonderful for couples and families with older children. If you know the island well and are able to find those hidden beaches, then this is perfect!

Very disappointing. You picked up the snorkel and jet pack and then travel in your own car a hour to get to the beach. We still had 3 hours to snorkel which was fine. When I asked how long the battery lasted she told me everyone came back with 1/2 or 2/3 of battery life left. My battery died after an hour and all the other 3 died shortly afterwards. When I complained to the owner she then said oh the batteries only last 45 minutes to an hour. Very disappointing

It was a great experience! Really fun machines that were easy to use and helpful for inexperienced or weak swimmers.

We saw tons of turtles. It was a good experience. The sea scooters they provided were a good help, all went well.

It was fun seeing the turtles ! It was also nice to have the propellers so I wasn’t as out of breath!

Amazing we loved this adventure the lady that helped us was full of info . Everyone should do this. We zoomed all around . We went down deep even rode the waves it was such fun .

Was a very fun experience, and we did see the turtles. The north shore location is a bit shallow so might not be for you if you like diving a little. The organizer was very nice and helpful. There is an option to rent a go pro that attaches to your equipment if you want to capture your adventure. Self directed so you should prepare and look ahead of time for locations you might enjoy. Beautiful 45 min drive to the north shore, make sure you have a way to get there. Would do again, maybe try the other location next time.

AMAZING! Had a great experience, you could not make it easier to have a great time. We followed the map that’s provided and swam with sea turtles for hours !

Experiencing the sea life up close makes you feel like you're in an aquarium. Cutting through the water with the motorized water scooter gives a feeling of freedom as well as a big help in the swells.

We had a blast! This is by far the best way to snorkel! These give you the confidence to go out in the water if it is rough and allows you to see more of the reef.
