Hanalei Bay Morning Kayak And Snorkel Tour

This was our favorite experience on the island! We were very glad it was at the beginning of our trip since our instructor, Jay, was very knowledgeable and gave us amazing recommendations for restaurants and beaches. The tour was really fun, a little challenging but very rewarding!

I highly recommend the kayak/snorkel trip. Our guide, Kolo, was wonderful and easily handled the 6 people on our trip, including one couple who were first-time paddlers. After the paddle downriver, we had fun snorkeling. We were there after rainstorms, so the water was not as clear as it could have been. But we saw a very large honu (green sea turtle) and several varieties of fish. Kolo played ukulele and talked story as we enjoyed our snacks. He spoke about Kauai's history and culture. He inspired me to learn more, and I've been taking 'ōlelo Hawai'i on Duolingo to improve my understanding and pronunciation of the language. Mahalo, Kayak Hanalei.

My kids and grandkids took this tour and absolutely loved it and would do it again. They were thrilled with the helpful guide and thoroughly enjoyed the Kayaking experience. Their favorite part was the snorkeling and seeing so many fish. Lunch on the beach was also a wonderful, relaxing treat for them. Thanks so much!! Outstanding tour!

Great tour! Our guide, Kolo is a Hanalei native who helped us learn about the area, the wildlife, share some great stories and play some music! The kayak is gentle, even when out in the bay it was pretty chill. The tide was low, so the snorkeling had to be careful around the coral, but we saw lots of cool fish, an octopus as well as a couple of turtles. Great experience overall!

This was an amazing day tour and the guides took great care of our group. They were fun and informative. We arrived early and waited a long time for the “late group's” of people to get registered. That was a little frustrating, but otherwise an excellent experience and worth the cost. I’d recommend bringing sun protection as the trip back was toasty.

The tour guides were very kind and friendly. Gave us some history about Kauai which was very interesting. The kayaking wasn’t very difficult. I would recommend plenty of sunscreen and a hat. My legs got pretty burned being on the kayak in the hot sun for so long. We went snorkeling for 45 minutes and then had lunch and kayaked back. Also, the tour was suppose to start at 8 a.m. but a lot of people showed up after 8 so don’t worry if you’re running a little late. They run on Hawaii time here 😊

We did this our first full day and it was a great experience. The guides were wonderful with my boys, 11 and 8. Would definitely do it again!

One of the best tours in Kauai! This is a must. We had such a great time from the beginning of the tour to the end. Kayaking through a beautiful river and into the ocean with excellent snorkeling on a secluded beach was the highlight of our Kauai trip. Highly recommend it!

This was an awesome experience. The tour guides are very knowledgeable about the culture and the sea life and make a point to share the experiences with you. They took photos, even captured our sea turtle friend from underwater and airdropped the photos to us. It is not a trip for those unable to paddle. You’ll feel a work out but it is worth it. The gourmet sandwich on the beach and a taste from a coconut were icing on the cake. Parking is convenient and the coffee shop nearby has the best quick breakfast and coffee around.

The guides were very knowledgeable and helpful during the excursion. The kayak trip was easy to do and snorkeling was fun. We also enjoyed lunch.

We had a fantastic morning, trip with Kolo and Gabe. An easy paddle out the Waimea river to the bay and then around the coast to a secluded beach, where there was only one other family Fantastic snorkeling with lots of turtles. Great lunch at the beach and an easy paddle back. Both Kolo and Gabe were lots of fun and very knowledgeable about local culture, tradition, and plants. Highly recommend!!

We had a great time on this tour even with the passing showers. It is a lot of paddling so be prepared. We learned a little bit of history of the valley and the mountains along the way. When we got to the beach and went snorkeling, we saw multiple turtles which was really the highlight. Lunch was pretty good as well. Thanks to our guides for a great time!

Arrive early. Bring water. Enjoy! We absolutely loved this adventure with excellent guides, lunch included and views both along the river and the bay. Be careful snorkeling on the reef. There is not a lot of clearance and ypu need to go out the way you came in but the snorkeling is fun and you see a lot of fish!

First time on ocean kayaks. The put in was super easy and the paddle on the river was very relaxing. We Learned some home grown stories from our hosts about Hawaiian culture. The snorkel was great and not far from the beach. No one flipped a boat; water was super calm. Lots of fish at snorkel time. Lunch was a great time to sit and chill in the shade after your snorkel. Our host even played and sang songs on the ukulele for us. It was a great day all around. You won’t want to miss this tour! It’s a sweet gem to experience the Island vibe!

We had an awesome time on the beach kayak excursion. Check in was smooth, the gear provided makes it so easy to store your items, the guides were super friendly, knowledgeable and just overall set a great tone for the day. The day consisted of us kayaking down the river into the bay and then setting up on the shoreline for a snorkel. We saw turtles, tons of fish and got plenty of time in the water. Would 100% recommend for an activity for family, friends or even a solo trip.

This was a relaxed kayak and snorkelling trip. Gabe and Holo were leaders and guides. A Gabe put everyone at ease and Hilo gave one of the best 10 minute history of Hawaii I have ever heard. The snorkelling part of the trip was fun and exciting. A little much for newcomers. The presentation of fish guides of what we might see was great!! Many thanks to Holo helping us and another kayak that went Hulu on the way back. It was an awesome experience!

This was a great experience! Kolo and La’a were great guides! They had us laughing, feeling safe, and feeling welcome. You should know how to kayak before doing this as you’ll be in open water, but aside from that you get to see beautiful mountains and views on your way to the beach. The snorkeling is amazing, beautiful fish and even some sea turtles! Good, hearty sandwiches and a ukulele to sooth you as you look out at the ocean during lunch. Then you make your way back and kayak into lush greenery and a calming river after the ocean. Would definitely recommend this one!

We absolutely loved the Kayak trip and snorkeling on the beach. The guide was extremely friendly and knowledgeable of the area. The beach was secluded and perfect for snorkeling. Definitely the highlight of our trip to Kauai!

We absolutely loved this tour! Perfect morning/early afternoon trip for our family (included kids ages 13, 10, and 7). Check-in process was seamless and informative. We had excellent guides who were excited about the tour, knowledgeable about the area, snorkeling, kayaking, and Kauai in general, and were easy to communicate with. The snorkeling was awesome and the reef had tons of beautiful fish and sea turtles! We truly just had a wonderful time! Lunch was delicious and perfect setup on the beach in the shade and they brought everything we’d need. Absolutely recommend booking this tour!!

My family and I went on this wonderful tour. We were greeted by friendly and helpful staff and guides. Before heading out, they taught us how to kayak and fit us with the perfect size snorkel gear. Along the way our guides, Kolo and Gabe, talked about the wildlife, the land and water and how important it is to preserve it. They were fun and knowledgeable and took the time to chat with everyone as we kayaked down the river. The area is beautiful! They took us to a great area for snorkeling, which was amazing. They setup lunch in a nice shaded area looking out at the ocean. The food was delicious. Palo played the ukulele, sang and shared Hawaiian stories. It was a wonderful morning and I highly recommend this adventure!

Had a great time! Kayaking down a river that lead into the ocean was a very memorable experience. Before snorkeling the tour guides taught us about some of the native fish we might see, which enhanced the experience as it was a lot of fun to then get into the water to snorkel and recognize some species we were just told to keep an eye out for. The tour guides were so friendly and knowledgeable throughout the excursion

We snorkeled 3 times during our trip to Hawaii and this was by far my favorite! The water was clear and you are swimming close to the reef so you are able to see the reef and fish a lot more clearly than other locations. Our guides were welcoming and very informative, making the whole trip a lot of fun.

Tour guides were excellent, knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, entertaining. Kayaking was fun, snorkeling was wonderful for a first timer.

Easy paddle out to the snorkeling location with lots of stops for information. Great snorkeling (but a little shallow getting out… be careful of the reefs). Lunch was simple but good. Paddle back was a little harder with less breaks. Guides (Kolo and Gabe) were fun, friendly and informative. Would do it again.

We had a wonderful time on this tour! I do recommend eating a snack right before you check in as the kayaking and snorkeling cause you to work up an appetite. The snorkeling they take you to (the beach in front of 1 Hanalei hotel) was amazing! So clear with many fish and turtles in the reef. Gabe, our guide, was very kind and knowledgeable. The kayaking was a little taxing on the way back as the wind picked up. Overall, I am very glad we selected the tour - it was beautiful scenery, amazing views, fabulous snorkeling, and a wonderful memory!

Such an amazing time. The river is beautiful, and kayaking down the river to the bay was very fun. Our guides, Kolo and Gabe, were very knowledgeable, told us great info and history of the area and even had us taste an edible flower that grows there. Snorkeling was great by the reef. Loved the tour, the guides especially, and the whole experience. It is a must do when visiting Kauai.

Our two guides were outstanding. During the paddle downriver, they shared stories about the history, landscape, and wildlife. While snorkeling, we saw many sea turtles and many small and medium-sized fish. Lunch was tasty, so overall I gave it five stars.

This was an awesome leisurely kayak trip. Gabe & Kolo were excellent guides taking care of everyone. After kayaking down stream to the bay. We had the chance to snorkel a nice reef before enjoying lunch. Overall an excellent way to spend the morning even in the rain Thanks for a fun trip

Even though it was a little rainy, the kayak down the river was lovely. Kolo and Gabriel were awesome and knowledgeable guides. Snorkeling was great and it was nice to eat our lunch on the beach with Kolo singing in the background. Terrific outing!

This was an absolutely fantastic kayak tour in the river to the ocean with a fabulous beach lunch, a ukulele serenade that included snorkeling. Our guides were amazing.

We had a great time kayaking. It’s a pretty easy paddle out and back to the bay. The tour guides were knowledgeable and added in some interesting history and plant and animal facts. The bay was nice, but a little disappointing as it was pretty cloudy due to 2 foot waves in the bay. We still saw some interesting fish, and a few turtles in the view is always worth the trip.

Loved the history lessons and info on flora and fauna as we paddled down the river. The snorkeling at the reef was incredible, so much to see! The guides were fantastic, can’t beat lunch on the beach with some live ukelele. Highly recommend!

Very enjoyable trip. Both our guides, Gabe and Kolo (sp?), were very engaging and provided a wealth of information on the area, the Hawaiian culture (and Hawaiian word meanings), and the fish we might be seeing while snorkeling. For us, the tour was well worth the price, and we love supporting family owned businesses.

Was a great time. The guides were both very nice young men and super knowledgable about the local area. scenery was amazing. we got to go where not many ppl go so that was rally good. down the river through with turtles in the channel and through the reef to the beach where they fed us a sandwich lunch and a couple drinks. Be sure to bring a cold water bottle it was hot. The trip was worth every penny.

An absolute blast! 🤪 for beginner kayaking and snorkeling. Our guide Samuel was amazing. He was very patient with us since it was our first time. I totally recommend this to everyone! When you go ask for Samuel, cool dude.

A great day excursion! The lead guide Gabriel was excellent. We had a lot of fun both kayaking and snorkeling. And learned a lot of the islands history and flora and fauna.

Beautiful kayak trip, a peaceful background ukulele, lovely snorkeling, and serine river views!! All ages (our 8 year old to 56 year old) had a blast, our guide even made the little one a rose from the native leaves. Overall 10/10.
