The guide was knowledgeable, and fed us some of the best foods. Unfortunately my daughter developed stomach flu before the tour. She tried to get through it but she ended up in the emergency room. The guide called and met me at the hospital with the food we were unable to try. Over and beyond! We appreciate her so much

This was a fun tour. Susan, our guide, was amazing, knowledgeable and full of positive energy!! This was our second tour with Susan, so it was even better!! All of the stops and food was wonderful!
This was cancelled…not enough people! Looks like it would have been fun. Hurricane killed it. Next time here
Was cancelled because not enough people and maybe had something to do with the fact that is wasn’t peak season
Susan was great and I'm very passionate about what she does and was a great tour guide. It was a simple short walking tour but the food is excellent and got to learn a lot about the history of Hawaii and town of Koloa...... definitely give it a try!
The experience involved two food trucks and a bbq place. Food was good but not elevated . Not worth the price. Guide was sweet but got lost in her stories quite a bit.
Tasting Kauai food tours are always the highlight of our visits to Kauai. Susan is a delightful guide, bringing her island style, friendly and inspiring perspectives, and excellent storytelling to each stop. She is also extremely accommodating to all the guests. The food is always incredible - excellent dishes at wonderful eateries supporting local, family-owned businesses. Portions are generous and the food is top quality! Susan offers great recommendations for other eateries and local activities that are worth the price of admission alone! We highly recommend Tasting Kauai - all of the tours are fantastic and well worth the reasonable cost.
-Rent a car -suggest cooking at Air bnb vs going out Food is pricey and not great -safeway is near airport Captain Andy’s bbq snorkeling sail was INCREDIBLE. I don’t like boats and am prone st seasickness and it ended up being one of the best experiences we had in Kauai. They are safe, ultra organized, beautiful large catamaran with nice bathrooms, excellent food and superb staff that took great care of us. The Napali coast is stunning. We saw whales and dolphins. Worth every penny. -Island Helicopter Jurassic Falls tour was great. -Day at Waimea canyon for sure -Surf lessons from any nearby place was more fun than I expected -Snorkeling just ok in Poipu end of February, waves were a bit high, visibility was not great, had to go out further than I wanted to see more live coral -try Dole whip (pineapple soft serve) -research any hikes on Alltrails app and be prepared for current weather and trail conditions -be sure choose correct side of the island for the season. - Lots of traffic due to few roads. Chill and enjoy the scenery and give yourself extra time to get places
Amazing food, food & shave ice
Susan gave us a great tour of local food in downtown Lihue with a great story of the history. You should know where on the island the tour goes depends on the day. Saturday was Lihue but other days are on other parts of the island
We made reservations in Kapa’a and they told us to meet up at a coffee house. We waited there for over 45” and they never showed; husband called and texted them over 5 times with no answer- call your damn customers back!! What a sham of a company with no service. They never called us back and no show! Bye bye to our $500, there was a “no refund” policy on the vouchers we signed, so no refund there. Do NOT book with these clowns!!!
Great time with Susan on the North Shore tour! We had 3 lunch stops with more than ample food, plus bakery stop for dessert. All the food was tasty including a taro sandwich which was new to me. Would definitely book with Tasting Kauai again.
Very friendly and knowledgeable but very short. Only 3 stops. I was hoping for a little more. The last visit could have had less food and an additional stop.
Lisa provides a wonderful experience, shares her knowledge of Hawaii culture and history, and scrumptious food! You won't leave hungry for sure!
The experience was great. VIATOR not so much. Lots of wrong info on website. Bad info sent via text. Pickup spot was wrong. Not a walking tour. Not in Kapaa, but in Lihue
Our guide was great. She helped manage my partner's gluten and dairy free needs. The tour fell short of my expectations as I pictured it being a tour to different parts of the area, restaurants, etc. Basically we met at one place, walked across the parking lot to a nice grocery store with a restaurant inside, and crossed the street to the 3rd place. The history of the area and about taro specifically, was interesting, but for the money and description, I expected more.
Susan was wonderful. She provided interesting historical highlights. The food selections could have been better. Kenji burgers was the highlight of the tour! Of note, you need a car to get from site to site, something that was not clear from the description.
Susan was awesome. We went to four restaurants within short walking distance. An appetizer followed by two main courses and then a dessert.
Zero stars to this company, Tasting Kauai. We prepaid and reserved the tasting for a party of four for this tasting. We were told to meet up in Ka’paa at 12:45. 45 minutes later we’re still waiting at the coffee House to meet up; no-show from Tasting Kauai company and not even a phone call. My husband phoned and left messages at least 4 to 5 times after an hour and a half with no callback we left. This is just a scam and lousy customer service that never returned any of our calls. This tasting is a prepaid and on the voucher/contract is nonrefundable. I doubt that we’ll ever see our $500 again do not use this farce of a company. Tasting Kauai is just a bad company with poor customer service that just rips off customers. Do NOT use them!!!
Our tour guide was friendly and informative. She is the reason the review gets any stars. She was very nice and spent a great deal of time making recommendations of places, describing spectacular and unique food. No one of those places appeared on the tour or nearby, nor did any of their competitors. She did share a list of places we should consider while visiting via text after the tour. I myself felt the list lacked adequate details for some places, and omitted one she raved about, which we have identified independently. The original understanding for our Tasting Kauai food tour was walking from restaurant to restaurant, 5-10 minutes between stops, between 11AM and 2PM. That is the description as we made and they confirmed our reservation. Nothing like that occurred. We met outside Rob’s Good Time Grill at 11 and walked a block to get a smoothy. It was delicious, but not substantially different from a smoothie we have had with our kids in Indianapolis. If it had pineapple or mango in it, those were obliterated by the blueberry and spinach. No taste of Kauai. We then walked back to Rob’s Good Time Grill. This is the website: kauaisportsbarandgrill.com. And that is exactly what it is, a sports bar. We shared appetizers of chili pepper chicken and tempura battered Ahi. Chicken was so-so. It might be good with a couple beers, but water was the drink of the day. Why did the reservation query any aversion to alcoholic beverages? Ahi was tasty, but not exactly a taste of Kauai. Anyone can fry up bites of Ahi, in any location, in any State. Both were sports bar appetizers. Then we drove (on our walking tour) about a mile to a busy, small, mall area, and had a “bento box” style, styrofoam container of rice, beef strips, fried chicken, and Spam. Hawaii is known for its attachment to Spam, but I can buy it less than a mile from my house in Michigan. This was two pieces of lightly fried Spam, plain Jane Spam. Chicken katsu, Japanese right? The food in general was tasty, but if you asked me for a list of “must stops” on Kauai, it would never make my list. We then walked across the street for ice cream. The ice cream was delicious. It took over 30 minutes to place the 11 orders of ice cream, primarily due to store staffing. The guide did tell my wife this is a regular stop and it is always busy and always takes forever. Really. I just don’t understand a regular stop because it required driving. It was 1:00 and our tour guide bid us farewell. But ending the tour a full hour short of the defined time? The only reason it made it to 1:00 was the time to go through the ice cream store line. This was the plan, and apparently the kind of plan that says, “we have 11 people with reservations for a tour on Saturday, we can’t take them to any good places, but if we cancel we have to return their money. I suppose having them drive through McDonalds is too little. Let’s do this. We’ll get them a smoothy, a couple appetizers at the nearby sports bar, a bento box over there and some ice cream. The three who paid nearly $400 will be completely satisfied“. This overall experience was a pretty big disappointment. Either the ability to deliver an actual Tasting of Kauai was lacking, or the area around Lihue lacks restaurants that served unusual or culturally related good food. For the cost, $114 per person, compared to the multiple walking food tours we have experienced, this was grossly overpriced.
Food tour was canceled by the company the day prior. It has been over a week and I still have not received the refund. I have sent emails with no response.
Good food. We really enjoyed Susan sharing about the history of Kaua’i in addition to the food. She did a great job accommodating my dietary restrictions.
Great food! We tried several different local wraps/sandwiches, and a dessert. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and shared some great places to try on our own.
Susan was very nice and was very knowledgeable about Kaua'i history. The food that she introduced us to was very flavorful and was varied and unique. We didn't leave hungry.
Susan was a great guide sharing stories and taking us on a 4 stop tour. Each of the tastings were really good portion sizes and delicious.
Susan was a wonderful guide to both great places to eat as well as the history of Kauai. This was our second go-round with this operator and both times we ate at recommended places on their list and have enjoyed the superb local foods/cuisine. An A+ excursion.
Susan was an outstanding guide for our tour. We enjoyed wonderful tastings at all stops. In addition, she entertained us with stories from local legends. Come hungry as the samples are more than generous!
I booked this tour three days in advance and received confirmation from the tour company for a September 11th 1PM start. We showed up to the meeting place 20 mins from the start time. We waited 30 minutes and trying contacting the company via text and phone but no response. Three hours later Susan called me and said she clicked on the wrong date September 4th instead of the 11th and did not see our reservations. She offered another tour but we were leaving the next day. I told her all I want is my money back. I would not recommend or us this company.
Sham of a tour company, ZERO stars, do not use these clowns! Met at the designated spot as requested 12:45, tour starts at 1:00. By 1:15, hubs called and texted Tasting Kauai (Kapa’a) 5 times with NO call nor text. By 1:45 we said F it, these guys are a no show!! No call back, no text, no communication, what a sham!!! I’m sure we’ll never see our $500 either. Take our advice, do not use these con artists with no communication skills!!!
Great tour guide, great food! Would highly recommend. My only complaint is I was too full afterwards.
A fun and informative food tour on Kauai with Tatiana in old Kōloa town. A great way to learn about great places to eat and to taste their food. Four stops with great leftovers.
The food was amazing, Tatiana was great giving us lots of information and things to do, not just places to eat. We did not go away hungry!
Tatiana was great! Very knowledgeable about the island and the food stops. Everything was very tasty and portions were good 😋 make sure to double check the walking/driving situation before the tour as the route changes based on the day. I wish I could have tried them all!
This was supposed to be a food tour for our 25th wedding anniversary. We’ve had a great time when went to Carmel and did a food tour there. My wife enjoyed it so much. I thought we should do it again. We got confirmation in a notice from TripAdvisor the night before. Part of that said that if there were less for people, they would cancel 24 hours before. We did not receive any notice that this was canceled. At 6:47 in the morning of the tour evidently they decided to cancel because the operator had a private tour that they chose to do that instead of us, rather than texting us and letting us know, they chose to contact us via TripAdvisor email. Again, I had texted the tour company over a month before telling them that we don’t drink alcohol and we had hoped there were options. They told us that there were other options. The moral of the story is, you’re not important enough if you don’t pay for a private tour.
We went to four different places and were given a ton of good recommendations. Arrive hungry, they don't skimp on the food!
Tatiana was excellent! Very knowledgeable and fun! All the restaurants were great. We started at Ginger Beer and had a sample of all on tap including the frozen version. Then we left with our favorite in a cup to go. We walked over to Rob’s and had calamari and fried ahi appetizers. Then we went to a local store and the Kaua’i Beer Company for a beer sample and the Brussels sprouts. We finished up at Healthgo Market for a Açaí Bowl. I would highly recommend this tour.
The food was amazing! And our guide Susan had so much information and history of the island to share! She even gave us recommendations for places to eat all around the island! Great local perspective!
Tour guide was amazing so much information to give… but for a food tour not really that much for for the price you pay. 4 plates that you share with the group and one small beer. Kinda disappointed with the amount of food.
Titiana was fun to be with and very helpful about the island of Kauai. The food was great and we had a good time. We will try another tour the next time we are in Kauai
Don’t pass up the opportunity to try great tasting food and learn about local history and lore. Susan, our tour guide was knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating. She made sure my daughter who is gluten free was able to partake in all of the meals. We will definitely sign up for another tour in a different part of Kauai.
We had an amazing time! Susan did such a great job picking local places for something different to try, plus she had fun information and Kauai history to share during each stop along the way.
We booked and paid, no one showed up! Somehow I was also charged twice, so this was not a good experience.
Susan was amazing. She was full of very interesting history about the island. The choices of food was very good. The smash burger was by far our favorite. My family and I really enjoyed the experience. Thanks for a great day🤗
Susan did a great job as a tour guide. A good way to learn more about Hawaiian culture and cuisine. Only 4 stops but size of food samples were larger than had on previous tours. Fish burrito to start with and bakery to select what you wanted at end were our favorites. Samples of taro burger, poke, and sushi were okay and provide tastes of local food, though not our favorites. All stops within easy walking distance so would be manageable by most everyone.
Susan is a great storyteller and we learned a lot of Hawaiian history. Super accommodating with our picky eaters/diet preferences and added our little kid for no extra charge. I would have liked to know a little more about the people/processes from the food trucks and restaurants, and why she chose to showcase them over the many others.
It wasn’t bad… it wasn’t good. It was simply ehhh. The guide was a very nice lady. The “tour” was 4 places where you got a sample 1/2 of a single menu item) of something the place served. The first place was a fish market where we had 1/2 of a wrap. It was quite good. The second place served 1/2 of a pork sandwich which was nothing special. The third was a grocery store that had a kind of deli… where we had 1/2 of a Taro burger (look it up… we had to 😀). Again… OK. The last stop was a bakery where you could choose one item. All of the selections seemed quite good. Each stop seemed awkward… as if the restaurant/store had no idea we were coming, which I think was actually the case 😂). It was very unorganized an we had significant waits at each location… except the bakery. Along the way she tried to share a bit of history of the Island(s)… but it seemed like she simply read a Wikipedia page rather than having any real knowledge or insight. Leading a tour is a difficult thing. To talk with people for 3 hours requires some level of expertise. This seemed to be lacking on both the food and the history. At one point, completely out of context she began talking about how unfair colonialism is, how billionaires are taking over the island and how native Hawaiians can’t afford to live there. She went on for a few minutes then ended her speech with, “I’m just saying that to be fair.” Wait…What? Fair?? To who… in what sense? One minute she’s telling us about a Taro burger… the next was the evils of billionaires, the government and missionaries. Her little rant was out of the blue. Not connected to anything that was going on. It’s obviously an issue that is bothering her… but … it was just a weird… particularly for a food tour. All in all…. It wasn’t horrible… it just wasn’t that good or interesting. Surely not worth the $125 per person price tag.
Our guide Susan was knowledgeable and passionate about the history and mythology of Kauai. Her choices for food were delicious. Thanks
Nice tour of local small restaurants but not worth the price. Needs to be around $75-$85 per person. Tour guide was great and was very knowledgeable. She ordered for us and we received half portions and she told us history and facts. Not enough time between meals so hard to eat fast, then eat again. Enjoyed supporting local businesses.
Susan was a wonderful tour guide. We started at Aloha ginger beer. Met the owner. A very nice person. Had an outstanding sausage. On to Poke nachos at Robs grill. Very good. Then dessert. Thank you Susan.
This tour was booked back in September then I reconfirmed the tour in March only to have it canceled 2 days before with no other option, private or otherwise. They gave me an excuse of a corporate tour and it shouldn't have been on the website which means the staff are not informed, poor training or groups $$ are more important, not customer service. Unable to book another tour such short notice. Really disappointing. Wasting time and money trying to find something instead of enjoying my time in Hawaii. Never recommend
