1 Hotel Hanalei Bay

We absolutely loved our stay at 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay. It truly is a magical place and easily one of the most beautiful hotels we have ever stayed at. The location overlooking Hanalei Bay and the surrounding mountains is incredible, and the entire property is beautifully designed and fits perfectly into the nature of Kauaʻi. The atmosphere is very special – peaceful, relaxed and luxurious at the same time. What stood out just as much was the staff. Everyone we met was genuinely friendly, welcoming and helpful, which made our stay even more enjoyable. The only downside is the price. Rooms, food, drinks and additional services are definitely on the expensive side, even for a luxury resort in Hawaii. Overall, though, we had an amazing time and would absolutely recommend 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay. A very special place that we will definitely remember.

I am extremely disappointed with my stay at this hotel. The hotel does not seem to care about guest feedback. I was told that the manager would contact me regarding my concerns, but that never happened. The rooms are very poorly soundproofed, and you can hear everything happening in the hallway. To make matters worse, the hotel has outdoor speakers throughout the property. One of them was located just a few meters from my balcony. Every day the music started at a different time—sometimes at 7:00 a.m., sometimes at 8:00 a.m., and sometimes at 8:30 a.m. I repeatedly asked the staff to stop playing music so early in the morning, but my requests were completely ignored. A luxury hotel should allow its guests to relax and sleep, not decide when they have to wake up. The food is mediocre and the selection is very limited. The breakfast buffet is especially disappointing and well below the standard I would expect. I have traveled extensively and stayed in many hotels around the world. I did not have unrealistic expectations for this property, but I certainly did not expect to be this disappointed. The only truly positive aspect of the hotel is the beautiful view. Finally, I would strongly advise the management to pay more attention to cleanliness. Out of curiosity, I looked behind and under the bed and found an incredibly thick layer of dust. It was shocking and completely unacceptable for a hotel of this standard. Unfortunately, I would not return and cannot recommend this hotel.

This hotel is very nice with one major caveat. The good: the restaurants are very good and the bar down by the pool is excellent (Bill was awesome). The setting is jaw dropping, and the hotel is well maintained and feels new. The not so good: this hotel feels like loud luxury due to some of the people staying here. We found a lot of the guests here to be quite showy (the kind of people who order bottle service in a club). That may or may not be your vibe but just so you are aware. It seems to be an instagram staple so you get what comes with that.

Our family had a fantastic experience at the 1Hotel Hanalei. Highlights were priceless views from the 1Kitchen Restaurant (buffet & dinner) and pool/beach area. Morning buffet breakfast was delicious! Phenomenal exercise space. Unique and personal check in experience (though I can see how it can be slow for some). The renovation and changes are amazing! We very much appreciated the understated design that's beautiful and blends well with the beauty of the Kauai north shore. Downsides were there but did not diminish an amazing experience: limited chairs at beach, no monitoring of chair squatters at the pool, and inconsistent housekeeping. Overall, loved this resort.
