It wasn’t the guide’s fault (his name is Sky). He really did his best. We’d agreed, as stated in the offer, that we’d be picked up from our hotel. Nobody turned up. We were told by email that we had to make our own way to the boat. There was no water or soft drinks on board, even though these were included in the offer. Finally, the boat’s engine kept cutting out. Sky spent a large part of the time trying to get it running again. Those were scary moments, because you don’t want to be drifting around out there without a steering wheel.

Terrible, fraudulent operator who never showed up to pick us up and did not respond to neither my calls nor my messages. I would like to be fully refunded for this because it did not take place. And apparently this is their reputation.
Great experience on the Chobe River (Delta). We had a very experienced guide and he gave us a lot of information about the nature and the environment. He knew the right spots where to find the animals and drove us very close to them to enjoy. Thank you for the amazing experience!
Poor communication. Didn't clarify the park fees and location. The seller is different from the provider. The provider was good.
Even with the cloudy weather, and seeing the storms afar, the landscape and the views in general were amazing. The biodiversity of the area is immense, ranging from the biggest animals to the smallest critters and the plants. The guide did a wonderful job explaining everything and answering every question. I had a wonderful experience, it is totally worth it and I definitely recommend it.
Fun time, albeit We got soaked and were very cold because of a rain storm. The crew anticipated this and handed out rain ponchos to everyone who wanted one. Lots of hippos and crocs.
I would recommend this trip, it was enjoyable and informative. The sunset over the river is stunning. I was pleasantly surprised how many animals we saw.
An animal filled sunset tour. We saw many elephants, crocodiles, Cape buffalo, antilope and giraffe. Also excellent for bird spotters. Our guide, AK, was very knowledgeable on all wildlife we saw, which gave the experience further depth. Would 100% recommend to do this activity while staying in Kasane.
Difficult communication, late pickup, no water on a 3 hour trip at 39 C degrees, max group size was advertised as 10, but there where 16 people on the boat. Do not book...
I did 4 boat trips on the Chobe river in September 2023, and had some amazing experiences, especially seeing elephants swim across the river at sunset. This October (including a drought) I was hoping for more of the same, but better. Unfortunately the 40 degree temperatures drove elephants down to the river earlier, so by 3pm most had already left, and there was no food left on the islands to entice them to stay longer. So very disappointing for photography. My lodge gave me a budget boat trip of P300 + P150 entrance fee for SADC members. Unfortunately the boat was extremely croweded, and most people boozed a lot so they were extremely loud and disruptive. Had the same experience last year too. How to avoid this? I don't know! Maybe pay more for a more sophisticated environment?
Operator showed up on time and took us to the boat area where we boarded and set off. Cold water was provided as were life jackets. Our guided was knowledgeable and responsive to everyone and their questions. He kept us safe and worked hard to show us elephants/hippos/crocodiles/various bird species/impalas/water iguana and more. The sunset alone was worth the money. We are so happy for having taken this cruise. In fact, we are taking it again tonight!! Highly recommend.
Elephants and the abundance of wildlife. It was very relaxing and the sunset was glorious. We also enjoyed it from the perspective of the water. Hippos and buffaloes put on a good show too!
Booked this sunset cruise picked up on time at hotel lovely guides took us to atm as had no cash for park fees got on boat led out down the river everything guide spotted woukd take us as close as could get saw rhinos crocodiles elephants birds various lizard large one mingood eland springbox water buffalo really good trip absolutely mazing sunset
Wow, lots of animals and birds and great guide. Exceed our expectations. Highly recommended. Great price too.
We had been on two other sunset cruises recently that were wonderful. This was a dreadful experience. We were 10 people jammed onto a small, dirty boat. No legroom, no space to maneuver. Small boat was rocked by the waves of virtually all the other cruise boats. We boarded the boat at 3 pm and were taken for registration at the entrance to the Chobe National Park. We eventually left there at 3.40pm. While we sat waiting for our "Captain" to complete the formalities, at least 4 other boats who arrived to do registration after us, completed their formalities and left on their cruises. No explanation for our 20 minute delay was given. We were told we would be offered soft drinks and water on the cruise. Nothing was offered at all. At the end of the trip our "Captain" happily advised us that we were welcome to thank him for the trip (presumably hinting for a tip). ADVICE - ask to see a picture of the boat you will be travelling on before you book and part with your money. This scruffy little boat with torn chair covers would not receive a booking if people saw if before booking.
Very friendly and knowledgable guide who had an answer to every question we had about local animals and culture. Small boat with only 9 of us offering great viewing experience, much better than on bigger boat with large rows of people. Highly recommended
Terrific experience and fabulous cruise! Very knowledgeable staff and enjoyable experience! Lots of animals and the boat captain tokk us "up close and personal". Fantastic!
Feel safe with the help of the lady from Chobe 3hr sunset boat cruise, who set up someone to pick us up in Zimbabwe.
Excellent cruise with a great captain of the boat. There were lots of boats on the Chobe River, but our captain was able to be in the right place at the right time. The small boat was a real advantage as it allowed us to get in close and move fast. Definitely book this tour with African Drifters. Met the owner, who picked us up - nice guy who is building his business so help support his company.
Brilliant guide, we saw many animals; hippos, lions, buffalo, crocodiles and lots and lots of elephants. Beautiful sunsets and amazing photo opportunities. Would definitely recommend.
The wonderful views and tranquility makes it well worth it. Experience the wild live as they come to drink and the hippos in their habitat
I went for boat cruise on the 16th October 2020 and i really enjoyed the beautiful cruise in the mighty Chobe River. We saw some animals, reptiles and the experience was sooo beautiful. Sunset was the best experience ever. .. We saw some wildbeest croosing from chobe game reserve to Sedudu Island and it was beautiful.
My husband and I went on this cruise and had the most amazing time. Bruce kindly picked us up from our hotel out of town and took us to the boat where there were only 5 other people. Our guide was extremely passionate, knowledgeable and fun during the cruise and even with bad weather (heavy rain towards the end) they provided us with rain jackets etc. and we had the best time - seeing elephants, crocodiles, hippos and water buffalo. We would 100% suggest using this company to do this wonderful cruise.
Great trip Elephant all along the river bank and in water, lots of birds and rhino and just so much to see the guide was very knowledgable and friendly.
We booked a private sunset cruise aboard the Chobe Style for a surprise marriage proposal. It was amazing. The staff were amazing too! I would definitely recommend it for a memorable experience.
- Easy and quick contact with David via whatsapp - Very knowledgeable guide - Good small boat with max 10 ppl. No Titanic-like cruise ships that some other parties offer. Easy going: water provided, bring other snacks/drinks yourself. We booked both vic falls and boat tour, would certainly recommend!!
Booked on 9/26/26 for 9/27/26. Received booking confirmation. The next day the money came back and it was canceled by the organizer or Tripadvisor without giving any reasons. We were really looking forward to it. That is not how it works.
Terrible, they didn't show up...both for this activity and for another one booked with GYG they didn't show up! Something like this had never happened to us. They didn't even answer the lodge's phone calls; a real scam...avoid them like the plague! If we hadn't had an extra day we would have risked coming to Kasane for nothing...with consequent airfare and accommodation expenses. I thank Tripadvisor for the quick refund..but I ask myself: why continue to work and offer their products after such serious episodes?
Good communication in advance with the provider. Very nice guide
Spectacular view of the sunset over the river with animal silhouettes , about 3 hours of navigation with return almost in the dark .
