Sri Muthumariamman Temple is a Kovil at Matale, Sri Lanka, built in late 1800s, and dedicated to Goddess Mariamman (goddess of rain and Fertility), a deity worshipped by Hindus. It has adapted the common Dravidian Architecture usually seen in major Kovils. However, one of the unique features in this kovil, is its high Gopuram (an enticingly decorated large tower) named 'Raja Koburum'. It is one of the largest Gopurams in Srilanka. Make sure to notice the Architectural features of this sacred cultural heritage.
Nalanda Gedige is believed to be the center of Sri Lanka. The structure, which is about 1000 years old is made of rock and lime, where its architecture demonstrates a combination of both Buddhist and Hindu art. You can come across Buddhist and Hindu sculptures and art placed in the Dravidian Style structure if you get the chance for a visit.
The Dambulla cave temple is listed as a World Heritage site by UNESCO. The temple consists of five caves with the surfaces of rock inside the caves washed in deliberate designs and art inspired by the Life of Gautama Buddha and Buddhism. With an ancient history, this place adorns many elements representing its history. Though there are minor renovations made, the history of this sacred place is protected and the premises are open for visitors to experience its beauty.
The Ranweli Spice Garden located about an hour’s drive from Kandy grows the spices essential in Sri Lankan Cuisine and has the herbs required by traditional Ayurveda Medicine. Sigiriya Rock Fortress is a World heritage site as announced by UNESCO in 1982. The creation of this rock has an appealing backstory. There are main elements of this fortress worth noticing. For example, the Fresco paintings of female figures which have no exact theory of what it represents up-to-date but the theories made so far are exciting. Another feature would be the Lion’s Paw entrance you will encounter at the start of the climb. The other elements such as the mirror wall and the boulders garden are some interesting sights as well. Visiting the Rock fortress will give you a worthy experience for your visit and add more joyful memories.
Lasatha was a great driver and an extremely polite person. He picked us from our hotel in kandy and took us to Sigiraya. On the way we went to a spice garden as well. We had srilankan lunch together and he drove us back by the evening. I highly recommend him if you are looking for an english speaking, good natured, driver cum guide. Thanks Praveen

We highly recommend visiting Dambulla and Sigiriya . We had a very good driver Shan, who was very courteous, polite and organised our trip very well. His English is very good , and he was able to tell us more about the sights as well as every day life in Sri Lanka. We have also visited one of the spice gardens and Sigiriya village on our way to the Sigiriya rock. Very pleased with our trip.
Very friendly driver who can take you around for the day. The sights themselves are beautiful. It would have been helpful to have more description or information about Dambulla caves on the tour. I had to research the basics on Google at the ticket office as there aren't leaflets and that part of the tour isn't guided. You have to walk up on your own.
Lasantha is a really great guide. He showed us all the sights and spoke knowledgeably about them. He was considerate and fun to be with. I would definitely recommend him. It’s definitely worth visiting both Sigirya and Dambulla, one for the views and extraordinary construction on top of the rock and the other for the incredible cave paintings and statues.
I had a great day with tour Lasantha. He was a good and safe driver, we talked a lot about Sri Lanka and the culture. We had lunch in a great restaurant suggested by the driver. We also stopped at the geografical center of SL, and in a herbal garden. I can strongly recommend Tour Lasantha.
We had a great tour with Lasantha. We would thoroughly recommend this tour and Lasantha as a host/driver as he is both very friendly and very knowledgeable. Lasantha asked our priorities for the day. We opted to tour the museum and climb Sigiriya Lion Rock as we were interested in the history (rather than climb the nearby Pidurangala Rock, which many choose to climb instead due to much lower entry fee). Lasantha changed the order of the tour to start there to be as early and therefore cool as possible. It was still a very hot climb but well worth it to see the frescos, ruins and mirror wall. We then stopped for an early, tasty lunch before heading to Dambulla Cave Temple, an amazing site particularly when you consider how old it is. Next Nalanda Gedige the centre of Sri Lanka, a well preserved stone temple next to a lake. It started to rain heavily on the way to the spice gardens so we opted to head back to the hotel. Overall a great day.
Our trip was amazing, full of beautiful places that we would not have seen on our own, especially the short time we had reserved for Kandy. Lasa was a great, coucious driver with very helpful insights on the objectives, history and information about usual life in Sri Lanka. Great guide with helpful tips and advice. Extremely kind man with a beautiful family and many local acquaintances! We were very lucky to meet him and we hope we will see each other again realy soon.
The tour was great! Lasantha adapts to any situation and request. He is also a safe driver and the car had nice A/C. Definitely would advise to eat lunch at place Lasantha recommends. It had so many tasty vegetarian options! Overall, very positive experience!

My wife and I took a tour to Sigiriya rock and the Dambulla cave temples with Lasantha. Our pick up time from Kandy was flexible and our drive was very smooth. Lasantha is a man that clearly enjoys bringjng tourists around to see the main attractions. It is also hard to beat his prices.

A lovely day visiting the amazing Dambulla temple and other remarkable temples. We explored the outskirts of Sigiria rock as l couldn't climb, because of an injury. We had a lovely lunch at a local restaurant chosen by my guide. I was able to change the order of the tour and make changes which l appreciated greatly. A knowledgeable and friendly guide which made the day very enjoyable.
We had a great day trip from Kandy visiting temples and a spice garden in Matale, the centre of Sri Lanka and Sigiraya and Dambulla caves. The tour included a packed breakfast and we later stopped for lunch at an affordable and good quality buffet. Overall it was a great value trip at about 11 hours long. Lasantha arrived at our hotel and was ready and waiting before the designated time. He not only had bottles of water for us but had boxes of food for us. The tour was our discretion of when and where we wanted to stop. So much so that we climbed the nearby mountain instead of Lion Mountain and also made a stop at a silk shop. He is very flexible and extremely helpful so much so that we engaged him on other days to drive us around Kandy as he also has a tuk tuk. We also engaged Lasantha to drive us to the airport too. I would thoroughly recommend Lasantha to anyone looking to visit Lion Rock and also keep in mind that he can drive you anywhere you want to go. And we found Lasantha’s prices to be very competitive. Lusantha took very good care of us from the moment he picked up with breakfast. We had all the time we could want at each stop, and he took us to a wonderful buffet restaurant for lunch after our climb at the Lion Rock. Lusantha is very kind, friendly and knowledgeable and let us know what we should do and expect at each stop so that we didnt spend any unnecessary money on guides that we didn’t need. This tour was absolutley amazing! Our driver Lasantha was picking us up right on time at our hotel with a big smile. He had the whole day planned out for us and we were visiting so many intresting and beautiful places. He had great knowledge about everything and could answer all of our questions. We learned so much from him about Sri Lanka. This day tour was so wonderful so we ended up booking tours with Lasantha for two more days and that was a very good choise. A 5 stars tour. Lashanta was right on time and started our day with a great smile and a good presentation of the day. He took us to amazing places during the way and had such knowledge about the areas we visited. Well, he knew more or less everything about Sri Lanka. We ended up spending two more days together. Day 2 was a tuk tuk day. We explored Kandy area from the backseat of a tuk tuk. We visited gardens, tempels and a variety of factory’s. Day 3 was a climbing day to a tea factory and so many pit stops during the way. Viewspot and waterfalls. + on time + great knowledge + helpful and kind + great driver + added tuk tuk day.

The day with Lasantha was very good! He drove me to a Hindu temple, a spice garden, Nalanda Gedige, the Dambulla cave temples, and to the Pidurangala opposite to Sigiryia. He is very kind and answers all the questions one could have. After our late lunch we were a bit in a hurry to get back but he was still all the time friendly and had a smile on his face. I can definitely recommend a tour with him.

Lasantha was a gentleman as well as an extremely pleasant and reliable driver. We spent two days with him and he took us to the main sights around Kandy and on the second day drive us to a tea plantation on the way to Nawara Eliya. He then took our luggage on to Ella so we could take the train hassle free and met him in Ella. I have no hesitation in recommending Lasantha as a driver.

We had finished our agenda a little earlier so Lasantha sorted out a safari trip to see the elephants at the last minute, so we ended up seeing soooo much that day, and were so happy to see everything that we had wanted. My guide arrived at 7am on the dot with breakfast to eat on the way. He was cheerful and pleasant throughout the 10+ hours of the trip. He also clearly explained how much time I had at each spot and where to find him when I was done, which was massively helpful. I was a little apprensive to do the day tour solo but there was no reason to be I had an overall good experience.
