Rishan was an excellent host. He went above and beyond to show us the real Sri Lanka. As well as the stunning waterfalls, we were taken to a local blacksmiths, a tea plantation tearoom, stopped at every interesting flora and fauna opportunity, at a rainbow, so a man could pick us bananas from his garden and goodness knows what else. He was an outstanding tour guide who taught us so much today. And as for the lunch, made by his wife - WOW. Eaten at the base of a stunning waterfall it really was a once in a lifetime experience that we will never forget. Don’t hesitate to book this wonderful tour.

An amazing experience. Me & the wife had not been to any waterfalls before. Roshan was an amazing guide & the entire tour was well worth the price for the experience. I want to give a special mention to the lunch his wife prepared for us… extremely delicious! Thank you Roshan, your tour is greatly recommended!
Roshan was simply brilliant. The waterfalls tour was spectacular and he also added his own personality throughout as he's so passionate about nature too (showed us many plants, flowers and spices along the way) He's very professional, courteous, polite and above all super friendly & looked after us both so well. The lunch he provided by one of the waterfalls was simply unforgettable with such a personal touch ( & thanks for introducing us to jack fruit) Would 100% recommend Roshan specifically and the tour to anyone!! Loved every minute & would easily do this again!!
This was one of the best days of our time in Sri Lanka so far! Guide was excellent, very knowledge and friendly. Traditional Sri Lankan lunch provided was delicious. Loved the stops for snacks, water and even a cup of Seylon tea at the end. Loved going into the Knuckles mountain range and being able to swim in the waterfall, the water was clean and we had plenty of time to relax in the water. Absolutely amazing experience.
All the other reviews are thrue! Most fantastic day. Roshan picked us up on time. We loved every bit of it. The tuc tuc drive, to see the rice fields, the tea pantages, the viewing points, the snack stop, the fruit trees, the spices as we never saw before, the awesome waterfalls, the swimming, the yummie lunch .... it is to much to mention. Roshan was so patient and relaxed with us, answering every question and sharing his knowledge with us. Absolutly worth every penny 😁!
I had an absolutely fantastic time on the Kandy Waterfall Day Tour with Roshan. This was one of the highlights of my time in Sri Lanka. The waterfalls themselves were stunning, and getting to swim in one was an unforgettable experience. It wasn’t just about the scenery though. The journey along the way was just as special. Roshan shared so much knowledge about the local plants and spices, which made the entire day feel immersive and meaningful, not just a sightseeing trip. Roshan is a truly wonderful guide. He is knowledgeable, kind, and clearly passionate about what he does. He made the experience both fun and relaxed while also making sure I got the most out of every stop. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Kandy. It is the perfect mix of adventure, nature, and local insight.
Roshan picked us up at 8.30am and from there the journey took place in his tuk-tuk to all kind of "real daily life" Srilankan places.. We seen 4 super nice waterfalls + some nice panoramic view points.. Roshan's knowledge about this area is incredible! Seen so much spices, nice trees, nice daily Srilankan life. Also his wife prepared super nice luch! All and all this was great experience and before we know it it was 17.00am and we were home again. Thank you Roshan for the great day!
This was my favourite day in Sri Lanka. I would highly recommend to anyone considering. It is a chance to see the nature Kandy has to offer. It offers a Scenic ride through the mountains with Roshan, who was extremely knowledgeable and was able to answer any questions we had as well as teach us so many interesting facts. We saw the rice fields, waterfalls and tea plantations. I would love to do this again.
We had a wonderful time with Roshan. He is a lovely kind, intelligent and knowledgeable gentleman. Our highlight was being taken near to the village when Roshan lived before the dreadful typhoon. He took us to the rice fields and explained how the village worked together to cultivate and harvest the rice and showed us them using buffalos to create the fields. We also saw eagles, kites and kingfishers all within 10 minutes. The ride through the tea plantations brought home how hard the local villagers have to work, collecting over 20kgs of tea to earn anything, and the sight of these ladies walking up with full sacks of tea really made an impact. Roshan is excellent on his knowledge of plants, fruits, herbs and wildlife. Although i initially thought the cost was high, it was worth every penny just to spend time with Roshan. The waterfalls are beautiful, we had real fun swimming in one, which is exactly why we booked the day with Roshan. Roshan's wife provided our lunch which we both thought was delicious, the best food we have had here in Sri Lanka - it felt very special. The whole day was treat.
Great day chasing waterfalls in the Hill Country. From peacefull pastures to incredible stunning scenery 🇱🇰 Great communication pre tour, very imfornative & a superb picnic lunch provided
We had a superb day with Roshan exploring the beautiful landscape near to Kandy. His knowledge of the area, history, wildlife, trees and plants is amazing. The waterfalls were wonderful and the lunch, prepared by his wife, was delicious. The only bad thing was that it had to end! Definitely recommended
As everyone else has said this was a WONDERFUL experience and my favourite day of of our holiday Roshan was and is an absolute star, informative and a real gentleman. We saw 5 beautiful waterfalls, learned lots about the flora and fauna, had a BEAUTIFUL lunch next to a waterfall after a refreshing swim. Thank Roshan we loved our day with you.
Roshan is nice, easy-going guide with elaborate explanations about the nature and local agriculture. We did an alternative activity with a hike of 8km to a beautiful viewpoint. The rice fields and tea fields he took us to are stunningly beautiful. Also the homemade lunch was delicious. Everything went smooth and pleasant.
An amazing tour of the “Real Sri Lanka” Roshan was the perfect tour guide, expertly navigating the rural roads in his tuk tuk and stopping whenever he saw some fauna or flora that he could passionately describe for us. It was a joy to see the villages and people who live within them way up among the tea plantations, this was the real Sri Lanka that many tourists never get to discover. The waterfalls we visited were all beautiful and completely free of any other tourists. You’d never find these places on your own, and having an expert guide on hand to not only take you there safely, but take amazing photos of you enjoying the experience was perfect. The lunchtime swim was a highlight, only surpassed by the delicious Sri Lankan lunch provided by Roshan’s wife! A truly unforgettable experience.
If I could give this 10 stars I would. We had the most amazing day with Roshan. He was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic and made a great guide. I couldn’t think of a better way to experience some local culture, see the waterfalls and taste some amazing home cooked local food. Roshan picked us up in his Tuk Tuk from our hotel just outside of Kandy at 8.30am and we drove to his village in the foothills of the mountains. Stops included seeing a local blacksmith and visiting the rice fields and tea plantations as well as other stops for stunning view points and interesting things along the way. He provided snacks and water before taking us on to the waterfalls. The waterfalls were all incredible, and some could only be reached with an experienced guide like Roshan. We were the only people at all of the waterfalls, making it feel extra special. It was a real adventure getting to some of them, which made the views when we got there even better. At the third waterfall we were able to swim in the crystal clear water at the bottom of the waterfall which was an amazing experience. Just as we thought our day couldn’t get any better, Roshan provided us with a delicious home cooked meal made by his wife, which was one of the best things we ate in Sri Lanka. After lunch we saw another two waterfalls which were also stunning. On our journey home Roshan tried to take us to a tea house, which was unfortunately closed so instead took us to a roadside spot for a King Coconut, native to Sri Lanka, and far better than any coconut we’ve had before. He dropped us back at our hotel at 4.30pm. He took pictures and videos throughout the day, and sent them to us the same evening, giving us a great record of our day. I can’t recommend this experience enough, thanks again to Roshan.
We had a fantastic tuktuk ride into the forests near Kandy. All the fruits and spices we saw growing in the nature (even if they are planted by the local farmers), all these waterfalls, and the landscape itself just wonderful. Roshan is funny and perfect guide to visit this region and we highly recommend him. He is a very gentle person and made an extra curve into Kandy (thank you for the Thipilli and Kottucola). 😊 We had a wonderful day and we loved it. The tour is the real must-see in Kandy!
Fantastic tour of waterfalls - picked up from hotel - lots of interesting commentary - lovely lunch cooked by Roshan’s wife
Great day out with Roshan. Such great knowledge of the local trees, plants and wildlife. Great photography skills too. We had lunch prepared by Roshans wife at one of the waterfalls. It was excellent. Our best day so far in Sri Lanka 10/10
The best tour of Kandy Waterfalls is obviously run by the best guide in Kandy - Roshan. Remember the name. Can't say enough about this kind and humble gentleman. He showed us that guiding this tour is not just for earning but his passion project. We were picked by by him from our hotel in Kandy on his 🛺 and had the most serene drive through Lebanon rice paddy fields and tea factories and earned knowledge about different spices through interactive videos as well as love demonstration. We were given cold water amd offered beverages and snacks along the way to keep us hydrated and energised. Then had the best Sri Lankan lunch prepared with love by his wife on the steps of Lebanon waterfall before making a stop to visit a Hindu Kali temple, following 4 other spectacular waterfalls with exquisite views. Later on, he took us to taste the great Ceylon tea in a cafe and had a long chat with us and dropped us back safely to our hotel. Now this level of hospitality I have not seen any other tour guide do in my life once the tour is over. Will be recommending his service to everyone I know visiting Kandy as I am sure they will have a big smile on their faces once they meet him. Much love and respect for this gentleman and I wish he stays healthy and continues this wonderful endeavour.
Roshan is a must choice for this trip. We had the best experience with him. He is kind and thoughtful. Great listener. The homemade food was delicious and the waterfall tour was on point. Everything was really picture perfect.
The best trip I ever had till now. Trip guide was Roshan. He was very helpful and give us good amount of information. We ate delicious meals. He make us comfortable. He is the best trip guide we ever had. NOTE:: We definitely recommend him and A must choice of any trip guidance.
If there is one thing you do in Kandy - SPEND THE DAY WITH ROSHAN! What a truly magical experience. Roshan is kind, thoughtful, knowledgeable and an all round legend. He taught us about the wonders of Sri Lankan flora & fauna - taking the time to stop and teach us about what this beautiful country has to offer. We learnt so much , saw incredible sights - rolling green hills, cute little monkeys and out of this world waterfalls. We were taken to local waterfalls that could have been out of Jurassic Park there felt so surreal and lush. Roshan thought of every detail - cold waters to keep us refreshed and cookies to keep the energy up. His wife prepared us one of the best meals I have ever had - traditional Sri Lankan curries!! We felt so lucky to have such a wonderful person guide us. We left this experience more knowledgeable, full happy tummies & a new founded love for this country.
BLOWN AWAY! This was the perfect introduction to Sri Lanka and way to start our trip. Roshan is the kindest, most thoughtful and sweetest guide. His knowledge of Sri Lankan nature is incredible. He picked us up and drove us safely through beautiful lush vegetation stopping to show us the wonders of Sri Lankan flora and fauna. He took us to 5 amazing waterfalls where we swam. The lunch prepared just might be the best meal I have ever eaten - so flavourful and delicious. He took great pictures so we could keep the memories forever. I can’t thank him enough for this wonderful once in a life time journey.
Roshan was easily contactable pre tour, was on time for collection and the best day spent scooting about lanes and roads in a Tuk Tuk seeing beautiful waterfalls, being shown wild herbs and spices and to top it all off he provides hydration snacks and the best home cooked Sri Lankan meal I've ever had. The cup of tea on the way back towards our hotel beside a tea leaf processing factory was an amazing cuppa. Roshan is an absolute gentleman and nothing was a problem. PS we contacted him after the tour regarding a train booking as we were getting mixed messages from hotel reception and he sorted that too AFTER the tour and nothing to do with the tour just a kind and helpful soul.
This incredible tour took us into the lush, tropical beauty of Knuckles Mountain ranges to five amazing waterfalls. Along the way, Roshan shared his knowledge and passion for his beautiful backyard. Not only did we visit waterfalls, we were taken to his village where rice is grown, stopped by a blacksmith shop, learnt about the floral and fauna in the area and walked through tea plantations. We were shown indigenous plants and spices used in creating delicious Sri Lankan food. Lunch was served by a beautiful cascade, this was prepared by Roshan’s wife and was absolutely delicious, the best we have eaten in Sri Lanka so far. The waterfalls really are incredible, coming from Australia, we have some pretty amazing falls but these were next level.
Could not recommend this enough! Had an amazing time seeing tea plantations, rice paddies and a variety of plants. The waterfalls were amazing, and the lunch Roshan provided was delicious and amazing to eat in the sun by the water! Learnt lots and super friendly tour host, number 1 thing we have done on our trip!
We had a really good experience with the Waterfall Tour. Roshan picked us up directly from our hotel and he showed us not only the waterfalls but also many plants and spices and gave us inside knowledge of the local people. We saw rice fields, tea plantations, 5 beautiful waterfalls, stunning views, and had an authentic insight to the Singhali and Tamil cultures in Sri Lanka. Roshan provided delicious snacks and an exceptional lunch made by his wife. We would 100% recommend doing the tour and it was definitely a highlight of our Trip!
Great knowledge and nice personality. Really great to have a swim in the waterfall. The tour gives you the possibility to see 4 waterfalls Thank you Roshan
It was a great day. It was a private trip—just me and the guide. He is a very nice guy and shared lots of interesting information about the places we visited and about Sri Lanka. We went to five waterfalls, each one incredibly beautiful and amazing. The views were stunning. These waterfalls seemed to be more of a hidden gem for locals—there were only a few local visitors, and I was the only tourist there.
We recommend this trip highly. Our host / Tuk Tuk driver was amazing . He stopped along the route many times and gave us in sight into the variety of plants and trees and the tea plantations . Then we had traditional SriLankan lunch at one of the waterfalls .
This is so much more than a simple waterfall tour! Rushan is one of the nicest people we met in Sri Lanka. On the way to the waterfalls you stop in the village he lives in and visits an local blacksmith, tea Plantage and bushes. We also made several small stops when Rushan saw a special plant/tree and gave us extensive information about the usage and characteristics. Now to the waterfalls. You visit one that is completely unknown to other guides and tourists, because also Rushan created the path to it himself. Needless to say we were the only visitors, but also at the other ones we were completely alone. At the one we stopped for swimming he even showed us a hidden passage BEHIND the waterfall! The lunch eaten in front of the waterfall was simply amazing, the best we had so far in Sri Lanka. Also you can take as much time as you want at the stops, there's never the feeling of stress to move on. Rushan goes far and beyond to create an unforgettable Sri Lanka experience! PS: he takes also a lot of Fotos and videos he sends to you afterwards. Thank you for the awesome day! Thomas and Bianca
Roshan is a great storyteller who effortlessly share sights and stories along the tour. We were promised 5 waterfalls. On that day he wanted to bring us to 6 but after the 4th we decided to stop as our children were tired. We had a good time venturing thru the area. He brought along a parang to cut thru some taller, thicker grass area. It’s like going to a secret waterfall. We came as a family of 4, kids aged 11 & 13. It’s not the first time for our kids to experience waterfall but it’s our first time experiencing so many waterfalls in a day. And each waterfall experience is unique in its own way.
Amazing day with Roshan! He took us through his village, where we got to see the blacksmith in action and try our hand at harvesting rice. Along the way, he stopped along the road many times to show us some spice trees. He is so knowledgeable about everything Sri Lanka. We asked him many questions about the plants, the animals, and the country, and he seemed to know the answer to everything. The five waterfalls we visited were also great. They are very far off the tourist path. In fact, we didn't encounter anyone else at any of them! The provided lunch was very good and filling. Overall, this is a great tour if you are looking to get out of the city and off the beaten track. This tour turned out to be one of the highlights of our time on Sri Lanka. We highly recommend it!
I’ll be honest, OK? The words are not enough in here and I will try to keep it short 🤭 This was the best tour we’ve ever had in our lives. Trust me, book it and you will feel the same. It was a like a dream, still in shock! We have seen a lot, local villages, rice farms, local blacksmith, tea plantations, 5 waterfalls including a hidden gem, too many animals, trees and even the kindergarden in his village 🐣 Most important is that we became friends forever from the first moment, amazing human beings! Michelin star goes to his wife 😋 Roshan and his friend are very professional and they have all the knowledge and experience that you need! My brother thanks for everything you will not be forgotten 🙏❤️ Posting only one photo not to give any spoiler 🥲
Roshan was a great tour guide, the best that we met in Sri lanka. He speaks very good english and knows everything about herbs, spices and trees of Sri lanka. The day was full packed with lot of information about the flora and fauna , tradition, history and way of living of Sri lankan people. We visited a local blacksmith, tea plantations, rice fields, 5 waterfalls and some view points. Snacks were included and lunch made by his wife was amazing. He took us a lot of photos and sent them to us. It was an unforgettable day.
We made a wonderful walk with a very pleasant, service-oriented guide who skillfully introduced us in the flora and fauna of the surroundings, especially the teaplants. The lunch he had prepared and carried all the way up was delicious. We certainly recommand him to our friends visiting this area. Roshan, thank you for this memorable walk and all the photos you made and sent to us. Mike and Anna, the Netherlands.
Absolutely fantastic day,Roshan is very knowledgeable and did a great job of looking after us,he served us lunch which again was amazing
The tour with Roshan was described as a waterfall tour, but it was so much more. He is the kindest and most welcoming person, sharing his deep knowledge of Sri Lanka’s flora with enthusiasm. From coffee to jackfruit, he introduced me to countless fruits and plants along the way. Thanks to his strong village connections, he offers an authentic experience far from the usual tourist paths. Riding through breathtaking landscapes on his motorbike felt safe at all times. The hidden waterfalls he takes you to are so remote that you won’t see another tourist—or even locals. The journey can be challenging, but Roshan supports you every step of the way, making it accessible to anyone seeking adventure. The highlight: a freshly prepared meal at the base of a waterfall! Roshan isn’t just an incredible guide but also a fantastic cook. Every dish was made with care and perfectly adapted to my preferences. This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience—something I never could have discovered on my own. If you want to see the real Sri Lanka beyond the tourist spots, this tour is a must!
Amazing experience chasing waterfalls. Roshan our guide was absolutely amazing. He showed us secluded waterfalls which we had to ourselves & made us a delicious lunch.
We had one of the best days of our entire trip with Roshan! Such an amazing experience driving to the edge of the knuckles mountain range, stopping to show local villages, plants and spices, and viewpoints. Roshan was the perfect host, taking pictures and taking to hidden gems. The waterfall swimming was amazing, and we happened to be there on Independence Day so there were plenty of friendly locals also enjoying the swimming spot. Highlight for me was the delicious lunch prepared by his wife! Thank you Roshan, a must do when in Kandy!
Roshan is a super guide, quite knowledgable, skilled, eager to share, attentionate, and willing to offer the best experience to his customers for an unforgettable hike in a beautiful région.
This trip was booked as a Christmas gift from my sister who did the same trip with Chaminda 9 years ago. Chaminda was brilliant! We had the most amazing day. He was very friendly and knowledgeable and we felt like we learnt so much. It was a very authentic experience and the lunch was the best we’ve had in Sri Lanka. Would definitely recommend this. It takes you away from the hustle and bustle of Kandy city & lets you explore the countryside. There were no tourists at any of the waterfall destinations which was amazing. It was very peaceful. Thank you Chaminda for making our day special.
We had a brilliant day with Roshan, we learnt a lot about Sri Lanka. We visited some amazing waterfalls and a tea plantation. Roshan is a very knowledgable guide and the food we had for lunch was delicious.
Roshan was an amazing guide who took us to some of the most stunning waterfalls we had ever seen. He was very helpful in guiding us especially since we went on a rainy day where the water level was high. Not only the waterfalls was amazing, but he showed us his village and explained many things about rice and tea cultivation. The food at the end was just the cherry on top and a perfect glimpse into Sri Lankan life.
It was a Wonderful tour to the waterfalls Rowan was knowledgeable interesting helpful & kind The picnic was deliciously prepared which we ate by the waterfall I highly recommended this tour
Wow! We are still in Sri Lanka but I won't be surprised if this ends up being our favorite day of our vacation. Roshan has put together an incredible tour and he's a great guide. He also knows the best photo spots and takes some great shots for you while you enjoy your view or swim. If you like nature and plants you'll love this tour. Beautiful tuktuk ride through the country, learning about plants growing wild and locally, a view of daily rural life in central Sri Lanka (we even stopped at a local blacksmith!) and that's before you even get to the waterfalls. Each one more impressive than the last. And to top it off,.a homemade Sri Lankan lunch! We felt like we were in heaven. The hikes are not intense, they are short and quite easy, but you will need to jump over water sometimes or go up small hills, so if you are injured or unstable on your feet this may not be the tour for you. Otherwise, please check out this unique, beautiful, and educational tour!
Roshan was an incredible guide who brought us to his village and to see incredible waterfalls in places with no other tourists.
This was one of our most active day. Hiking in the river, get to know more about the nature, herbs, fruits secrets of the forest. And of course the beauty of the waterfalls. Lots of pics and memories. Thank you for the day, the atmosphere and the great lunch as well!
Our day trip to the Kandy mountains with Roshan, a knowledgeable and friendly host was a great local experience. Winding our way in the tuk tuk with amazing views, stopping along the way to see popular spices, rice & tea plantations growing by the roadside. Then on to see 4 waterfalls, some you see in the distance and some require a short trek (depending on your fitness) The highlight was a short walk to the upper Lebanon falls, where Roshan’s wife had made a packed lunch of local curries. Here you could take a dip and really enjoy this beautiful spot. We modified our return home to include a stop at a local tea factory for a tea and toilet stop (take your own paper) and then a stop in town to buy some local spices. This was a great day for two and we would highly recommend seeing & learning more about this lovely place☀️🌶️🤩👏 Tip - Roshan was happy to slightly modify his tour to suit what we wanted to see.
What an amazing experience!!! From beginning to end. Roshan picked us up at 08.30, and the adventure began. A spontaneous visit to one of Roshan beekeeper friends, tea plantations, rice paddies, tea drinking, five different waterfalls, and a magical waterfall swim after which, Roshan’s wife had prepared a beautiful traditional Sri Lankan lunch. Roshan is an incredibly kind, knowledgeable, professional and sweet person/guide. He knew everything about the plants and wildlife, and we tasted, smelled and touched a lot of different fruits and spices. We highly recommend Roshan to everyone!!! We did not see any other tourists the whole day. Truly a very local experience. You will not be disappointed 🌞 Andrea and Ulli ❤️💕❤️💕❤️
