We had a great trip around the Omicho market, looking at all the different fruit, vegetables, and fish on sale. The tasting in the market was plentiful, and included a variety of fish and meat. We walked through the picturesque Geisha district, saw a secret alley, and ended up at a gold leaf workshop. Ian was a very good guide who gave us plenty of info and answered all our questions. Highly recommended tour.

We had a great time with Lee sharing his extensive knowledge through the market and then through the Kanasawa streets, would highly recommend.

We were 3 Aussie ladies with just a couple of spare hours. Lee was our tour guide and he was brilliant. Explaining about how the markets came about, buying a selection of food for us - after checking we had no allergies. Informative about the Geiko culture and even sending us some information after the tour had finished. Top marks for Lee

Interesting tour of the market with varied food tastings and then the Geiko district and over the river to the old town. Gives you a good overview of Kanazawa. Lee was a knowledgeable guide and we only had 4 in our group

It was a nice and informative tour around the market and the geisha area. The tastings were good but don’t expect something too exotic or to get full on the food given (so come after breakfast)

Yoshiko menus promptly at the scheduled time and gave us a brief overview of our tour and some history of the area. We had a very generous snack at the market so I would recommend a lighter breakfast on the morning of the tour. We learned some interesting facts about the Geisha area. The 2hrs we had was perfect for a hot day. We ended up learning about making gold leaf which was interesting as well and unique to this area.

This trip is highly recomnended for people who enjoys seafood tasting, has interest in Japanese history & enjoys the magic of golden leaf making which is very unique in Kanazawa.

He was so interesting & informative , & we visited sites from Omicho Markets thru to Geisha area & Gold Leaf shops . We had Free samples of seafood & a nice sweet as well. I had a fabulous morning with my guide Saya, the market was so much more interesting with her knowledge of the produce and how it was used. Got to try some delicious sashimi! Then we moved on to the geisha districts and discovered really interesting facts about the area and the people who lived in this beautiful place. Got to try delicious sweets. And fascinating to see how gold leaf is made and processed! It was a brilliant tour with a very knowledgeable and friendly guide!

We began the tour outside of a big shop and beside a bus stop, due to us being so close to the buses I couldn’t hear the introduction very well. Starting in a different location may help with a nicer welcoming and ensures everybody hears the tour guides name and is able to ask questions. I was worried at first that I wouldn’t be able to hear the tour guide, Saya, but she really made up for it afterwards by teaching us about different types of fish and giving us fun facts about Kanazawa before buying a nice selection of sashimi. She gave a recommendation based off of her preferences which I found very helpful and then let us try all the sashimi including wagu, baby squid and salmon! After we finished our fish and meat tasting we went to a mochi shop which had the best mochi I’ve ever tasted! I tried pineapple mochi and my friend had macha mochi and we both loved it so much we were tempted to buy more for the road! After the food tasting we went through a small Shinto temple and were taught how to wash your hands and pray at the temple. Then we went to the Geisha district and were taught about Geishas, Samurai and the houses there. To finish off the tour we went and saw gold leaf being made which was amazing to learn about as Kanazawa is known for its gold leaf! Overall, I enjoyed every part of the tour, my favourite would have to be the mochi and I would definitely recommend the tour!! Thank you Saya for being so welcoming and informative!!

We spent the morning on a tour of the market and geisha areas with Nicola. The tour was well organised, there were nine of us which was a larger group size but Nicola managed the group well. We enjoyed learning more of the local history, culture and food, including trying a few things from the market which we wouldn’t usually choose and a very tasty sweet treat from a small shop in the geisha area. The tour finished with a short demonstration of gold leaf production and handling, real skill needed.

This tour was fantastic. We covered the history of the market and discussed where the vendors get their food. We stopped to try some select foods that included pork and fish. Our guide (Nicola) was sure to meet all the allergy and food diet requirements of our group while making sure we enjoyed our time. After the market, we took a tour of the geisha district, Nicola got us local treats, pointing out local shops, explained the area’s history and took us to a gold leaf shop. Absolutely great experience and highly recommend!

Delicious seafood and wagyu samples at Omichi market. Walk through geisha district at easy pace. Lots of pointers for things to come back to after the tour. Our guide Saya gave detailed and clear accounts of things and places we saw. Very good responses tok questions. Kept us on track.

This is a great way to try some food in Omicho market, see the Geisha district and learn about gold leaf. Saya did a great job making sure to find photo ops (and call out when not to take photos) and pulled together the most delicious food at Omichio market. Great and informative tour, I was lucky to be the only participant this day, so Saya gave me a private tour and she was so knowledgeable und great. Great introduction to Kanazawa food and culture. Do this your first am to get oriented to the city, its culture and enjoy breakfast @ the market. Our guide Saya san was fantastic, responsive to everyone’s needs, great @ sharing information and local tips and had a kind and patient demeanour. The two hour timeframe is perfect to start your day off right. Highly recommended.

This is a really well structured tour starting in the food market and ending in the Geisha district.
