David is one of the best guides we have had in our month-long visit to Japan. His knowledge of the history and culture of Japanese life is exceptional as is his English! It was a distinct pleasure to have had him as our guide for the day.

It was very interesting and beautiful Our guide was knowledgeable and fun to be around. Enjoyed it!!
Yuta was a wonderful knowledgeable guide. Collecting us from Kanazawa to Shirakawago and Takayama. On time, comfortable ride and great lunch spot for our family of 9. Thank you
We had the great pleasure of having Kumiko as our guide. She is extremely friendly, very knowledgeable, flexible and resourceful. We had a wonderful day with her. She showed us the best points of interest as well as the best places for shopping authentic Japanese items we were interested in. I would strongly recommend Kumiko as a guide.
This was one of the the best transfers I have ever had. Our tour guide, Yuta, was exceptional and very informative. I highly recommend Kanazawa Tours for all of your needs in this area of Japan.
Kumiko (Ku) was a fantastic guide and driver. The best guide in Japan so far! Very enthusiastic, very well prepared with lots of diagrams and explanations. English was very good . We had a great time . Shirakawago was beautiful . Go as early as possible to avoid the crowds . We spent 2 1/2 hours there!
One of the best tours our family has ever done. Yuta was an unbelievable guide. He was early, polite, spoke great English and a really great guy. I couldn’t recommend this tour more highly. 1st stop @ Shirakawa-Go was amazing, lunch and stroll in Takayama then he suggested a pivot to Furrawka. A super authentic village with streams full of koi running past houses, visit to sake brewer and then a local designer. To top things off Yuta turns up to our hotel the day after in a taxi with a jacket I left in the car and meets us at front of hotel. His wife also owns the curry restaurant we went to the day before called syamaron, which was amazing.
We had a very nice time exploring these towns. Takayama was the standout with a beautiful and charming old town, I would argue nicer than the ones in Kanazawa. Shirakawa-go was very interesting and worth visiting as it is on the way and it is small so it is not a long detour. Our guide was Mai and she was great. Knowledgeable, attentive and flexible, she knew where to go and where not to. She also took us to a very nice restaurant, and it our experience that sometimes these guides do not necessarily take you to the right places, because they probably get a commission. That was not the case with Mai. She also speaks very good English, which is not that common in Japan. Over all a very good experience
Fun guide Fun experience! My husband & I loved the wonderful time we spent with our guide una exploring Shiragawa-go/Hida Takayama & Kanazawa. Sh was professional, knowledgeable & interested in our opinions of the sights we were visiting. We loved her enthusiasm & sense of humour & her recommendations for restaurants, activities & places to visit in the evenings. Thank you Una for your company & for making our tour so enjoyable.
It was great to sit back and have all the travel taken care of on this trip. My guide, Mai was so lovely and we chatted all about Japan & The uk together. So sweet and considerate. It felt like a real authentic taste of Japan. Thank you so much for great day!
My family did the Shirakawa-go, Takayama, and Hida Furukawa tour and we couldn’t have asked for a better tour day with our driver guide Takeshi. As a Kanazawa native he was very knowledgeable about Kanazawa and its surrounding areas. At all of the tour spots, he guided is through the location and then gave us time to explore ourselves. My family is vegetarian and for lunch he took us to a very nice Indian/nepalese restaurant. It was a pleasure to travel with Takeshi, he always engaged in conversation and will go out of his way to keep everybody comfortable. 100% recommend this tour.
Kumiko was such a lovely and very kind guide. She has her own binders full of information to make the story easier to visualize and understand. Her recommendations as to where to buy food and souvenirs were all great and I just adore her personalized sketches she made for me.
We were very happy to have Nozomi as our Guide and it was the best experience of a tour within our 3 weeks in Japan
Yoshiko arrived on time and quickly assessed our touring priorities. Her English is fluent and it is easy to have conversations with her. Yoshiko is a professional tour guide and it shows. She is an expert in all of the destinations and we were able to make good use of our time with her. I highly recommend having her as your guide!
Masu was a wonderful guide/driver. His English is outstanding. He drove well, the van was comfortable and his plan for the day was great. I highly recommend spending a day with this charming young gentleman. He is very accommodating, kind and knowledgable! What a great day!!!
Nozomi is the best tour guide I’ve ever had. Her English is almost perfect and she is incredibly knowledgeable and able to impart her enthusiasm for the places we visited in Kanazawa. We learned so much on her tour and, because she has an excellent sense of humor, it was a lot of fun. We can’t imagine a better tour.
There were 3 of us. I am a baby boomer and my 2 sons are Gen Z. Our guide Yuta was exceptional or as my sons’ would say Yuta is “the GOAT” (greatest of all time)! Not only was he well-versed in Japanese history, but he could converse about any topic that my sons’ or I brought up. Yuta has a wonderful personality. We enjoyed our time with him. This tour was recommended by a friend and it was an excellent recommendation. Yuta was patient and kind. We went to a wonderful ramen restaurant the he suggested and a great sushi place as well. Thanks Yuta!
Great way to see small special towns outside of Kanazawa. We saw Shirakawago and Takayama towns, delightful and harming. Our guide Mai was knowledgeable, flexible and nice. The weather prevented us from visiting Hida Furikawa but Mai made good suggestions and we were really happy with our day together.
This was one of the best day trips we had. It is picturesque. Our guide was a gem and exceptionally knowledgeable. Thank you
Sachiko was very friendly, helpful and informative. The pace of the tour was perfect for us - not too rushed and not too slow. We apprexiate that Sachiko was very accommodating and flexible to meet the needs of our group - which ranges from 5 to 68 years old. We had a wonderful time at both Shirakawago and Takayama.
Yuta is a very accommodating and pleasant tour guide. He gave us many interesting historical details about the places on the itinerary. The restaurant he took us to in the Shirakawago area has the best cold soba. We highly recommend this tour!
Mai was a helpful and friendly guide who was considerate of our needs and let us go at her own pace. The UNESCO village at Shirakawago was particularly interesting and beautiful. Mai had a lot of background information to make the visit meaningful.
We were in Japan for 15 days and visited several cities and did multiple tours. Our tour and time with Kumiko was the highlight of our trip. "Ku" was so charming, considerate, knowledgeable, and she prepared multiple visual aids to help us understand the history and key aspects of each site we visited. We are so appreciative and can't praise her emough. Thank you again "Ku" for making this a trip of a lifetime.
Great tour with an excellent guide. We were able to go to some charming and lovely places that gave us a feel for old Japan.
Si was an excelente guide. We did the Geisha district the Samurai house and castle gardens. She was always ready to answer questions and take pictures. Thanks AI!
We absolutely enjoyed our time and would recommend this trip to others! Our guide was pleasant, polite and informative.
Perfect in every way! Our driver/guide was Yuka whose knowledge of the area and the sights we visited was first class. Yuka picked us up at the hotel in a brand new vehicle which added to the comfort of a long day. Leaving Kanazawa at 8am allowed us to beat the bulk of other tourists. Yuka recommended restaurants for lunch too. Each stopping point was well timed and paced. A great day out. Ask for Yuka!!
We could visit all places at our familys speed and got to learn a lot. Thank you Asako for making our day trip so enjoyable and memorable.
Our tour guide, Jun, was so friendly and helpful. His English was impeccable, and he was able to answer nearly all of our questions. He did an excellent job explaining the history and background of the places we visited. He picked us up from our hotel, helping with umbrellas and as needed. Shirakawago was a fascinating old village with roughly 400 still living there. We walked through the village, up the hill to check out the views and then toured one of the thatched-roof homes. Next, we drove to Furukawa where we enjoyed lunch at a restaurant serving Hida beef (like Kobe except from Hida). Jun was very patient, even though my husband and one of our friends were late because they had wandered to a nearby musical instruments store. Lastly, we drove to Takayama, which was a small town where the koi fish are abundant in the little canals. Jun also kindly let us borrow his phone to communicate with our hotel regarding our dinner reservations for the night.
Kanazawa Tours are to be complimented for the quality of their communication skills, their organisational ability and the quality of their guides Ai,Nozomi and Yuta who are very special people. They are passionate about their country and its culture. Beside showing us the highlights of our itinerary, they took us "off the tourist track" and provided helpful advice on restaurants for us to visit. We can highly recommend this company
This was an excellent tour. Yuta drove us in a comfortable taxi. His English is excellent so that he can easily describe and explain local history and customs and understands our questions. The three of us were picked up at our hotel early so that when we got to Shirakawa Go it was not as crowded as it became later. We had a very enjoyable traditional lunch in Takayama. We were able to wander through Takayama and then Yuta took us to Hide where we wandered through some of the older parts of the town. We prefer a small group tour and its also important that our guide Yuta's English is excellent so that he can describe the more interesting aspects of the culture and landscape. Yuta was friendly and enthusiastic.
Our driver Jun was waiting for us in the hotel lobby and drove us to several villages and led us on a wonderful tour of the historic sites. He spoke English very well and was a pleasure for the afternoon. We had many sake, tastings, and lunch at a beautifulrestaurant with only a few tables. It felt like a completely private experience.
Our guide, Yuta, was not only a knowledgeable guide, but an incredible host. He would stop to answer questions and kept the tour interesting with his own questions. These three destinations were incredible and well worth the day trip from Kanazawa. Both my wife and I highly recommend this tour!
Ian from Kanazawa Tours was an exceptional tour guide. My wife and I really enjoyed his professional and personal touch while taking us on a tour of the Samurai and Geshia District in Kanazawa. He also took us to Gyokuserin Maru Garden. We saw many interesting parts of the park and finished up our half day tour at a nice Tempura restaurant that Ian picked out for us! We highly recommend Ian to be a part of your guided tour experience while visiting Kansawa Japan. Thanks for a nice day Ian!
Yuca was an amazing guide , he was so informative and made us feel comfortable all the time , we had a 15 month baby with us and he was very patient and cordial ! He was a great driver as well !!!
Yuka was a great driver and tour guide. The vehicle was spacious and we had reclining seats and foot rest. Due to the ship only being in port till 4:30pm we did not go to Takayama. Shirakawago is a must see. We spent a good portion of the day there. We had lunch in Hida Furukawa and walked the town and did two saki tastings. We learned alot and we beat the crowds.
Our tour guide Kumiko was absolutely wonderful, she drove us to to Shirakawa where we learned about and explored these interesting house construction in incredible surroundings. The second half of the day we went on a walking tour of Takayama, visited several shrines and tasted sake! Our guide went above and beyond to assure she answered all our questions, facilitated taking us to couple not in-route specific stores of my personal interests, and she even followed up with further information after the completion of our day. It has been a great experience!
Yuka was a wonderful tour guide. She drove safely, gave us interesting history of places and towns we visited. And attended to our needs meticulously. This was one of the best parts of our trip.
Can't speak highly enough of our experience. Communication from Kanazawa Tours was concise and specific, confirmed details in advance so that we were confident that all was in order. Our driver/guide Tetsuro was exceptional; courteous, efficient, helpful, and friendly. He was always happy to lengthen/shorten elements of our tour to ensure that we got what WE wanted, not just a standard tour. We highly recommend this service.
This was such a lovely day! Tetsuro took us to Shirakawago and Takayama (it was too snowy to go to Hida Furukawa) and we had a blast. He was very informative and patient with us. We truly appreciated that he took notice of our speed and was ready to change things up when we asked. If you are going in the winter months, make sure you dress appropriately - there were 3-4 meters of snow when we went and it was beautiful! It was an amazing day and I hope we can do it again.
We be travelled for two weeks in Japan, staring from Osaka ( we loved it), following to Kyoto ( beautiful, traditional but touristic), then Kanazawa was the ultimate destination! Kanazawa is the must place to visit in Japan! The end destination was Tokyo from which I believe the best city which is not advertised at Al is the beautiful Yokohama! Don’t miss that!
We did not get to go to Hida Furukawa due to the weather. Mr. Tetsuro, our guide, was knowledgeable and spoke fluent English.
We had an amazing tour with Mr Tetsuro. He brought us to places where we might not be able to do if we were on our own. He shared his personal experience & stories relevantly. Light snow on the day made it even wonderful.
Very pleasant day trip and Tetsuro was an outstanding guide. Pointed out the points of interest and explained historical facts.
Fantastic Tour. Yuka was a very friendly, nice and informative guide. The taxi was also very comfortable. Would recommend!
Tetsuro Aiba is a great guide and made the experience what it was. He was knowledgeable about the distant history of the places we visited and could comment on recent developments. I had a blast learning about a snowy mountain village and the food of Takayama. The mountain roads had beautiful views, and the whole experience was top-notch. Highly recommended!
The best tour ever. We had a wonderful day with our guide Kumiko. She is the best guide we've ever had. She is from Takayama so she knows the region very well and she is very professional, detailed, pleasant, happy...you'll have the best experience to visit the region and you'll know very traditional places for shopping and eating. She is a 10/10 :)
Had an excellent time with our guide/driver Yuuka. She drove us in a very comfortable, large Toyota van that held the 4 of us. In addition, she advised us on the best itinerary based on conditions (including the crowds) and time remaining on our tour. The company communicated very well with us prior to the trip. Would totally recommend this as a great way of maximizing your time.
Mountain driving with a lot of snow; Kumiko is an excellent driver! Possible to combine all 3 UNESCO sites. She found an amazing restaurant that locals go to s no tourist trap!
We had a fantastic time as a family in this private tour! Kudos to Mai, our tour driver! She is nice person (very important when you’re in an all-day private tour), and very knowledgeable about the region. She was very flexible, especially when we decided to skip the visit to Hida Furukawa and spend more time in Shirakawago and Takayama (amazing spots, by the way). Lastly, but very important, she is a great and calm driver, and is always checking the weather and road conditions, especially when snowing. Highly recommended!
