Nicola is an exceptional guide. He’s not only knowledgeable and well-prepared, but is also flexible and happy to adapt the tour to suit the specific interests of participants. For example, we are very interested in the Zen gardens of Japan, so Nicola made sure we spent plenty of time Kenrokuen Garden. As we walked through the garden, he shared information about the garden’s history and importance, the principles behind the design of the garden, the garden’s flora and fauna, features of the garden that are easy to miss, and details about how the garden is maintained to this day. Our pace during the tour was relaxed and fun, yet Nicola managed to fit in all the key cultural and historic highlights about Kanazawa. We even stopped for a delightful break in Gyokusen-Inmaru Garden tea house overlooking a zen garden where we enjoyed a cup of macha tea accompanied by a traditional red-bean pastry. His English is perfect so communication was easy. He gave us many tips about additional interesting spots, districts, and eateries in Kanazawa. All in all, we felt lucky to meet and spend time with Nicola. He added greatly to our enjoyment of Kanazawa and the tour was a highlight of our time in Japan.

Yoshiko was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable. She took us to places we wouldn’t have found on our own; her explanations were well-illustrated and very interesting. We highly recommend her.
A very enthusiastic guide who provided detailed explanations and was also knowledgeable about the specialisms of the craftspeople.
We had Kenzo and he was great. Full of knowledge and great english. We would have loved to stayed longer but we were tired from getting up so early. Kenzo was lovely highly recommend.
We had a lovely morning with Saya exploring Kanazawa’s samurai and geisha districts and visiting a traditional kimono studio. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and shared interesting insights into Japanese culture and history. A very enjoyable experience!
We have had a splendid time with our guide Nozomi Kondo. She lead us through the geisha district and to a traditional umbrella maker. Full of stories and knowledge she told us everything you desire for in a huisde tour. Many thanks Nozomi we enjoyed the tour for 200%
The half day walking tour of Kanazawa with our guide Tetsuya Ota was delightful. Tetsuya was very personable, easily understood, fun to be with and extremely knowledgeable. We thoroughly enjoyed our morning with him.
We had a great experience with Saya today on our half day tour; we chose to focus upon the Geisha and Samurai districts, and then finished off at the Omicho market. Saya was very knowledgeable and engaging, with excellent English, we thoroughly enjoyed our time and would highly recommend this tour to others.
We have traveled to over 25 countries over the years and have had many guides during that time. Our guide Yoshiko was probably the best we have ever had. We started the morning with a short meeting at the hotel where she gave us the options of what to see so she can cater to our interests. Yoshiko was fun, informative, and had a great personality. Her English was perfect and she had great communication skills. She is an asset to her company and worked hard all day to help us try to find a tour to the mountains outside Kanazawa. During the busy season, be sure to book these stores well in advance. If you’re coming to Kanazawa, ask for Yoshito… She was great.!
When booking the half day tour we were able to specify what we were interested in. I would strongly recommend doing this as it helps the guide select a route of locations tailored to your preference. In our case we had already seen the castle and the gardens, but were very interested in the samurai history and silk dying traditional crafts. Based on that information Kanazawa Tours selected Nozomi to be our guide, and we were very grateful! Nozomi was fantastic, very personable and full of information. She took us to the Kaga-yuzen museum first, where she talked us through the process of making a traditional kimono. Afterwards she took us to the samurai district and shared lots of information about the history of the area, the samurai and their houses. Of course you can visit these places without a guide but the insight we got into the history and insights from a local was priceless. The whole tour was amazing and meeting Nozomi made our day! Definitely a highlight of our trip to Kanazawa.
Sachiko was an amazing guide. She provided a culture rich experience with insights into daily living.
Overall, our guide Yakshima, apologies as I do not know how to spell her name correctly was very kind, knowledgeable, to the point. Not only did she extend her kindness but very respectful, funny, asked heart felt questions and showed genuine intrigue in getting to know us in a short time. Highly recommend!
Today we had Kenzo as a guide for a tour of Kanazawa. He was very knowledgeable and excellent guide. He went above and beyond to ensure we have seen everything interesting in Kanazawa. We would highly recommend Kenzo as a guide.
We had a great Time and our Guide Nozomi was a lovely person and spoke an excellent English. She picked us up in our Hotel and explained the day to us. We were going to see some local Crafts and she gave us a choice to either get a glimpse of the Samurai or the Geisha culture. We chose the Samurai District and it was beautiful and very interesting. Experiencing a historical House with all its Rules and Meanings is really, really interesting and so different from europe as you could imagine. She took us around to the sites by Taxi, and after that we were getting confident in using taxis ourselves. At the end she took us to a local Workshop for traditional umbrellas. We were introduced to very wonderful people at the workshop, that were so friendly and open to us, that we almost felt sad to leave after that short time. It was really fascinating how they are made, and how much work goes into them. Unfortunately it is one of the crafts, that are dying due to the younger generation not willing to keep it alive. After digging a little deeper we were shocked to hear the result. Those beautiful Pieces of Art are being sold for roughly 200-300 Euros. Since they take a lot of time to be made, you are really not getting rich by that handcraft.
NicoLa Cinelli was an informative and engaging tour guide. He was fun to be with and let us proceed at our own pace and interests. I wish we had done a full day tour with him instead of just four hours. He followed up the tour by sending us to a really wonderful lunch spot with great curry, and some ideas for what to do with the rest of the day and tomorrow. I recommend him highly.
Excellent tour from Yoshiko-san today. My wife and I had a great time at Kenrokumachi Park in the morning, as well as the traditional fabric dye workshop and the geisha house to finish. Yoshiko-san was very well prepared and knowledgeable about the areas, took a ton of pictures for us, and answered all of our questions. She dropped us off at a great soba-ya in the Higashi Chaya District at the end of the tour. Highly recommend this tour company and Yoshiko-san in particular.
Sachiko was a very professional and attentive guide. Good English skills and very informative. Catered to our preferences and requests without hesitation. Would highly recommend.
Our guide Ian, was absolutely the best! Courteous, knowledgeable and gracious ~ The tour lasted about five hours and we were escorted by Ian in a very comfortable and unhurried fashion. Most informative tour by a true gentleman and professional.
My experience was phenomenal. Nozomi Kondo was more than a wonderful guide, she is a wonderful person.incredibly knowledgeable about Japanese culture and story. She was a delight to be around. I would recommend Kanazawa Tours to anyone who has a particular interest in Japanese culture and historry, particularly if you can be fortunate to obtain the services Nozomi. She has a very inviting personality. Her English is perfectly understandable, has experience as a simultaneous translator and she speaks other languages. Kanazawa Tours is fortunate to employ her.
Amazing experience with Nicola! He was funny, informative, and showed us all the hot spots for our first time in Kanazawa. Nicola was especially great. Our tour started about 45 minutes late because our plane was delayed. But Nicola was patient, kind, and still managed to show us all of the amazing places within Kanazawa. We would recommend this to everyone!
We did the half-day tour with artist workshop. Our tour guide Yoshiko was fantastic! She is knowledgeable, enthusiastic and a genuine pleasure to spend time with. We spent time in the geisha district, learned its fascinating history and ate some gold leaf treats. We spent time one on one with a local artist, which our whole family loved. Wonderful afternoon, thank you so much, Yoshiko.
The experience was very nice and fun. The guide was super nice. Her name is Nozomi Kondo. She was amazing. We hope to visit sometime again
We booked a half day tour with an artisan visit. We specifically asked for Nozomi Kondo san as our guide as she came highly recommended. This did not disappoint. She is wonderful! Full of life, knowledge, super fun to go around with. She knew how to give us a lot of interesting facts but also stop us for photos so that we have amazing memories l. I cannot recommend her as a guide enough. She was really wonderful, like visiting Kanazawa with a friend! She recommended and took us to amazing places! The artisan visit was super interesting and we learnt so much about lacquerware
I cannot over exaggerate how wonderful our day with Nozomi-San was in Kanazawa. Nozomi-San is so incredibly knowledgeable of the area, the history, and of Japanese culture, her tour gave us a great starting point for the rest of our Japan trip and the history of later attractions like Osaka Castle. We noted that had we visited the Geiko house without her, we would have not had such a deep appreciation for the things we were seeing. We visited 6 other major cities in Japan, but because of the day we spent with her, Kanazawa remains the highlight of my trip. Thank you Nozomi-San ♥️
We spent a great half-day with Yoshiko. She provided a good blend of personal experience and background knowledge, moreover she was very flexible in accommodating our wishes. To top it off, she has a very likeable personality, so the time flew by quickly.
We were lucky enough to have Yoshiko as our guide, and she made the whole experience unforgettable. She was warm, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about sharing the culture and history of the places we visited. Her English was excellent, and she had a wonderful way of explaining things that made everything come alive — from small local details to bigger historical context. If you get the chance to have Yoshiko as your guide, take it. She'll make your trip so much richer. Highly recommend!
The guides, Nozomi and Yoshiko, did an excellent job in sharing the history, culture, and context of the places we visited, and that made for a richer experience than we could have had by visiting the same places on our own. The guides were timely, organized, and handled the transportation during the tour. They selected sights based on the areas of interest we expressed ahead of time. We visited a gold-leaf business, historic areas of Kanazawa, and a workshop that dyes fabric in the same tradition and method it has used for generations. The guides were friendly, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic about answering our questions. Our group ranged from teens to elders and this tour worked well in pace and content. I would highly recommend the guides.
Yoshiko met us at our hotel in the morning and had planned an itinerary of things to do and see around Kanazawa. She was also happy to adapt the tour to things we had already done and seen. She spoke excellent English and was great company. We visited samurai and geisha houses and her detailed knowledge meant that we got a huge amount more out of the experience than if we had visited alone. We also spent time in a kimono studio which was a very special experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Yoshiko and she was also kind enough to send us some photographs that she had taken of the day afterwards. Highly recommended!
Ian came and collected us from our private accommodation and walked us around Kanazawa. Firstly we visited and learnt about the working of gold leaf and its’ uses. We then went to the wood carving area. Ian was so knowledgeable and informed, I learnt so much and enjoyed this tour enormously. We loved the morning.
We enjoyed our Kanazawa tour very much. We toured the samurai district and the castle park, and had a short stop for a mochi snack when we got hungry. We learned a lot about the interesting history of the area. Our tour guide, Reiko, was extremely nice, knowledgeable, and flexible.
Or first night in Kanazawa was a truly special moment during our visit to Japan. We were fortunate enough to be able to not only tour the Geisha district with our amazing guide Nozomi, but to spend an evening with Geiko. The hospitality, conversation and art were truly an experience unlike any other and something my family and I will remember fondly. Nozomi's energy made the evening that much more unforgettable and I am thankful we had such a friendly and spirited facilitator and guide for the evening. If you are able to arrange such a unique experience, I highly recommend it. It really is a rare opportunity. Thank you to Nozomi and Kanazawa Tours.
Yoshiko Oigawa was an excellent guide in Kanazawa, taking us through the Garden and Castle. Her English was excellent, and she provided us many insights for the garden and castle. We definitely enjoyed our time with her in Kanazawa.
We were booked on a flexible itinerary, 4-hour tour in Kanazawa. Saya was our guide. She was punctual, very pleasant, knowledgeable and patient, happy to accommodate our request to visit Kenroku-en garden and Kanazawa Castle at a very slow pace. I mentioned that I’d been looking for a particular Japanese cosmetic and that my husband and I wanted to visit a supermarket where we could purchase takeaway lunch. Saya worked a stop at a department store that had both into our allotted time, which helped us enormously!
We saw houses of former Samurai which were very interesting and had an in depth visit to a workshop where kimonos were made. They were very unique and special experiences. I would highly recommend this guide.
Sachiko Nakai in Kanazawa was brilliant ! She was very interesting and knowledgeable and gave us a really wonderful time with lovely explanations and she had a super personality which provided a relaxing time Thank you
Our morning artisan guided tour of Kanazawa from Kanazawa Tours was first class. Sachiko, our tour guide was excellent. Our tour consisted of a fascinating tour of the samurai district and a visit to Kanazawa family run workshop specialising in textile dyeing using traditional methods - the family business has been running for more than 250 years. We really enjoyed talking with Sachiko. She is fluent on English ; very knowledgeable; provided interesting insights which added to our previous experience and ; had a great and respectful rapport with the artisan. I wholeheartedly recommend Sachiko and Kanazawa Tours.
We had a very special morning with Reiko, who showed us the Kenroku-en garden and took us to a wonderful tea ceremony. Rain was pouring but that did in no way diminish the joy and the fun we had in our meeting. Ishigo ishie, thank you Reiko.
We have a better appreciation of the history surrounding Kanazawa through the grounds of Kenrokuen Gardens and architecture of Kanazawa Castle. Our guide, Saya, was very helpful ironing out a tour booking clash. Saya was very easy to talk to and tailored the tour for us. The weather was sunny and warm and Saya made sure that we were shaded for any stops for explanations. Saya made sure we also managed to visit two Geisha districts and the fish market. We took many photos and Saya took some for us (later shared with us). Saya built a rapport with us and we loved the tour. She was confident and very knowledgeable on the various topics of Kanazawan history. We had a great time.
We had a wonderful tour with Nozomi, a very knowledgeable and friendly lady. We visited a couple of local artisans, who were extremely skilled in embroidery and hand painting exquisite kimonos. We also toured the Geisha and Samurai districts, learning a lot about their history and culture. Our guide also helped us with ideas for the rest of our time in Kanazawa, and recommended and booked a lovely restaurant for us that evening. We would recommend her to anyone visiting this area.

I would highly recommend him for future tours and would definitely request for Mr Kenzo san in future trips to Kanazawa.
