What a delight Sachiko is. Intelligent, amusing, very insightful tips & points about what we saw & very accomodating on this solo tour. Nothing was a drama & she was very flexible. I learned a lot and a tour I will remember for a long while. Well done. Highly recommend Sachiko to anyone .

Absolutely extraordinary tour with Sachiko Nakai. She was extremely personable and tailored the experience to our interests. She was funny and down to earth. Having grown up in Kanazawa, she literally knows every corner and was rich with stories and wisdom of local history.
We’ve just finished our Full Day tour with Sachiko from Kanazawa Tours. If you’re in need of a compassionate, knowledgeable and friendly tour guide then be sure to ask for Sachiko. She was a true gem.
Kumiko is a delight. Highly knowledgeable of the area and her history. Seems to know everyone and can get you into unique experiences. She has a wonderful enthusiasm and filled the day with stories and background about what she is showing you. I would highly recommend her.
Interesting craft visits and tour of local sites. Very helpful and friendly guide.
Our guide Sachiko Nakai was excellent as was her English. The artisan tour of Kanazawa was fascinating and Sachiko went the extra mile to show us our special interests. The dyeing artisan and especially the umbrella making artisan were fascinating. We also managed to visit the master embroiderer. I would recommend this tour and Sachiko to anyone visiting Kanazawa.
We were fortunate to have Sachiko Nikai as our guide. She made our time together educational and enjoyable despite the rainy weather. She was well prepared and communicated her knowledge with enthusiasm. She went out of her way to accommodate our interests and explain the history of the sites we visited. We would give her a 6 star rating if we could! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
We meet Nicolo at the train station. He communicated and explained the culture as we visited many sites downtown. We took a taxi to the first historical samurai warrior house, and then walked to the other sites for five hours. We stopped for lunch at the market. Kanazawa was one of our favorite cities on the cruise around Japan. Lots to see, and explore if we had another day. We enjoyed our tour.
Excellent tour! Our tour guide Sachiko-san is a Kanazawa native and was a great ambassador for her city. We had a very pleasant day strolling through gardens and historic districts while learning so much about the city and local history. Highlights included seeing the garden in a samurai house and watching a gold leaf artisan cutting a sheet of gold leaf. Highly recommend!
We booked a full day tour of Kanazawa. The tour was great; we did not only see most interesting historical sites of the city, but had also the opportunity to meet local artists and see how they work. This was complemented by the experienced guidance of Nozomi Kondo-san, who provided lots of valuable information. Nozomi-san's knowledge about all things related to Kanazawa and her kind personality made this day a truly memorable experience. We are looking forward to come back to this beautiful place in the not too distant future.
Absolutely our favourite tour in Japan! Saya is fantastic - great personality and knowledge. Highly recomended
Big thanks to Saya!! We had a personal day tour through Kanazawa with her as our guide and had a wonderful time. Saya was perfectly well informed of so many cultural and historical details and a very friendly guide in general! Would recommend taking this tour anytime again! arigatō gozaimasu 🙏🏻☺️
Sachiko was amazing. She is friendly, knowledgeable, fluent in English and just a lovely person to spend the day with. Our visit with Ohi (toshio Ohi chizaemon) was the best 90 minutes of our vacation. The geisha and the Kimono tours also well worth it. Learned a lot today. Thank you Sachiko.
Our guide was extremely well informed and she made the experience wonderful I highly recommend both her and the tour
My wife and I had a full day tour with Yoshiko Oigawa as our private guide. Yoshiko was friendly and knowledgeable. She took us to two incredible local talents who explained their art (through Yoshiko’s interpretation). We were fascinated and learned a lot about lacquer ware and silk painting. We gained an understanding and appreciation of these artists’ work. Yoshiko also found us a great place for lunch as well as a couple of places to shop for locally made high quality crafts. We had wonderful time.
A wonderful tour with our great guide Sachiko. She showed us around Kanazawa where she’s has been living her whole life and told us all about her wonderful city. We had such a good time!
Our full day walking tour in Kanazawa today was perfect. Our guide Ian Walker was very well prepared and took us around at a very comfortable pace. His knowledge of Kanazawa and of Japanese history was amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed the day. Thank you Ian
We greatly enjoyed our tour with Yoshiko! She is very knowledgeable, charismatic and funny. She also tailored the tour to our interest. Our group had lots of questions and she answered them wonderfully. When I come back to Kanazawa, I will request Yoshiko again!
Yoshiko was a very nice guide, we enjoyed and learned a lot about japan culture. Speaking supergood english. I definitely recommend her as a guide for your trip in Kanazawa! Couldn’t be better! Thx for the lovely day!
Ian spent the entire day showing us around Kanazawa, despite the intense summer heat, and made every moment engaging and enjoyable. We learned so much about geishas, samurai, the history of Japan and Kanazawa, and even the fascinating art of gold leaf craftsmanship. He also took us to a charming little teahouse in Nishi Chaya District for a delicious matcha latte before heading to Omicho Market, where we enjoyed Omicho Hanton Curry, one of Kanazawa's local specialties, for lunch. Along the way, he explained the different local products sold at the market and even taught us a few useful Japanese phrases. Overall, Ian gave us an incredibly informative and memorable day. Everything was perfectly organized, and he was punctual throughout, sticking to the agreed schedule. We would highly recommend Ian to anyone looking for an authentic, insightful, and enjoyable experience in Kanazawa!
We had a wonderful full day private tour with Yoshiko! She spoke great English, was very knowledgeable, and incredibly kind. She met us promptly at our hotel and was able to curate the tour to our interests. We visited the geisha district, samurai district, Kanazawa castle, and Kenrokuen gardens. At each stop she provided great insights that we would not have gotten from visiting on our own. We can’t thank her enough for a wonderful day in Kanazawa and would recommend her to anyone looking to further their knowledge about Kanazawa and Japanese life/culture in general :)
We thoroughly enjoyed our full-day walking tour of Kanazawa. Our guide, Saya, took us to the Geisha and samurai districts and explained the history and culture of these beautifully preserved streets. We also walked the famous Kenrokuen Garden and visited Kanazawa Castle. Saya also helped us find the most delicious oysters in the bustling Omicho Market. It was an excellent tour!
Nicola was a great guide. Turned up early, planned an awesome private tour for our family of 6 across Kanazawa, including a unique family run Japanese curry restaurant, visits to the geisha district, samurai district, Ninja Castle, Kanazawa Castle and world class Kenrokuen Gardens. A very memorable day
Our guide, Nozomi, was fantastic. She speaks English flawlessly. More importantly, she is engaging, pleasant and imparted lots of interesting information. The history of the region is very interesting — and the City is striking. Book a guided tour and ask for Nozomi.
Ian was fantastic! He was very knowledgeable about Kanazawa and offered us great insights. We were able to see hidden jems of the area that we wouldn't have seen on our own. He introduced us to a new Japanese food that we'd never had but absolutely loved.
The tournwad great. Our guide was waiting for us at hotel and crafted our itimerary in consideration of self guiding we did the day before. She found a lunch spot that was terific that two adults and two kids including 2 picky eaters really enjoyed. Our guide Ai was incredible with our eight year old and had the patience of a saint with her. We learned a ton of details about Kanazawa history and culture. Really a terrific way to see Kanazawa.
Really excellent tour. Tetsuya San balanced deep knowledge of the history and context of the buildings and neighbourhoods with practical considerations. We felt we really got to know Kanazawa. He was friendly, interesting and a pleasure to spend time with. We loved the restaurant he chose for lunch as well.
Says was absolutely brilliant and served us a perfect day. We toured two Geisha neighborhoods, the Samurai neighborhood and the Castle Garden. She spoke excellent English and provided in depth knowledge and history. I highly recommend her as a guide!
Ian showed our group of 2 couples around Kanazawa for a day and a half. He was excellent at placing sites and information and historical context and pointing out small details, such as small water jets used to clear snow in winter, that made the city come to life. It has been one of the most informative experiences we’ve had in our 3 weeks in Japan.
We had such a great day with Sachiko in Kanazawa! She included all of the highlights and I feel like we got a great experience. My son loved the Ninja museum! Sachiko is also a great photographer and put together a photo album for us that captured candid moments throughout the day. Couldn’t have asked for more!
Our guide, Saya, spoke English well and was very punctual. She took in our opinions about what we wanted to see and put together a great itinerary. She made sure we went at our own pace and still had enough time to see everything on our list. She was super knowledgeable about the area since she is a local. We learned all about the history of the samurai district and geisha districts. We also learned about the beautiful garden which we had previously visited over a decade ago. We also visited the crafts museum. Saya was engaging and friendly. My tween was even paying attention to the history. If we had more time in the city, I would have loved to have her show us around the shrines and temples as well.
Outstanding day in Kanazawa focused on the Samurai area and visits to 2 craft centres ( embroidary and dye). Led by Sachiko, who was friendly, well informed, with excellent language skills.
A great way to see Kanazawa. I highly recommend this tour. Yoshiko was our tour guide. She is wonderful. We learned a lot about the culture and history of the area and Japan as she guided us through the local sites. Yoshiko answered all our questions with patience and deep knowledge.
Our guide Nicola spoke English perfectly and was very knowledgeable. He suggested the Ninja Temple tour which was great.
We (x3) had a great day out with Sachiko. Her English was very good. She was attentive and informative. We started from our hotel walking past Kanazawa Castle (under renovation)! Then we walked through Kenrokuen Garden, which was very crowded, but so much better with Sachiko’s local knowledge…After stopping for drinks (not included) we got a taxi to a lacquer artisan’s house to see him at work…fascinating! We then visited an ENTSUKE gold leaf shop and onto lunch at a ‘Shogun Burgers’. After lunch we walked around Higashi Chaya District. (Again, construction work & scaffolding distracted from the photogenic experience). We finished off visiting a Kaga yuzen dyeing workshop (in the ‘nightlife district’)? Upstairs here we were shown round a traditional Tea Ceremony floor (180 years old?). This was a highlight! Thank you so much for a very enjoyable day out in Kanazawa! 🥰
Saya made this experience really easy, fun, and interesting. She stopped and explained the stories and background of each place in Kanazawa. If it wasn’t for the guide we would have never seen the tea rooms of both districts!
We had such a wonderful experience with Sachiko. She was incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and lovely to spend time with throughout the tour. She shared so much insight and made everything feel special and engaging. We truly enjoyed our time with her and would highly recommend her to anyone visiting Japan!
Tour of Kanazawa with hand embroidery and hand painted kimonos + the Zen House
Spent a fabulous day with Sanchiko walking through the Samurai and Geisha districts in Kanazawa. We learned so much about the history of the city. But we also gained an appreciation of the beauty of Kanazawa from Sanchiko s obvious love of her hometown. Made the day even more special. Definitely recommend.
We had a lovely private tour with Saya who took excellent care of us. She shared so much trivia with us on hidden gems, which we would have never knew. Well worth it!
Our guide was Ms. Nozomi Kondo and we thoroughly enjoyed this experience and Ms. Kondo's company. She was one of the best guides we had during our three-week trip in Japan, extremely knowledgeable, helpful and nice. We loved getting to know the history and culture of Kanazawa in detail and attending a traditional tea ceremony. Japan fascinated us and we are looking forward to our next trip to your country!
Our tour of Kanazawa was wonderful. Our guide, Saya, was extremely knowledgeable, personable, and thoughtful throughout the experience. She brought the history, culture, and traditions of Kanazawa to life in a very engaging and authentic way. At the start of the tour, we made a few last-minute adjustments to the places we wanted to visit, and she accommodated the changes seamlessly without missing a beat. Her flexibility and professionalism made the day feel relaxed and personalized to exactly what we hoped to experience. Her passion for Kanazawa was evident throughout the tour, and she truly enhanced our experience in Japan. We would highly recommend her to anyone visiting the area.
Saya was an absolute legend — our private Kanazawa tour with her was flawless. She was on time, fluent in English, super considerate, and knew exactly how to avoid the crowds so we could get the best shots and quiet moments. Saya took amazing photos and videos of us (even using her own camera), explained the history clearly, and led us through Oyama Shrine, Kenrokuen, Maeda Castle, Omicho Market, Higashi Chaya, Kazuemachi, and Nagamachi with real local insight. She also gave great food recs, handled logistics smoothly (tickets/paths/shortcuts), and made the pace perfect for photos and chill time. As foodies, we hit all the must‑try spots she recommended — fresh seafood at Omicho, matcha treats, gold‑leaf ice cream, and the best local bites throughout the day. If you want a guide who’s friendly, punctual, flexible, and makes your day effortless and unforgettable, ask for Saya — she’s professional, kind, and really knows Kanazawa. Highly recommend and would book her again in a heartbeat. 🙌📸🇯🇵
Sachiko was absolutely wonderful. Super knowledgeable and fun!!! She took us to a noodle house for lunch that was just delicious. I ca t wait to come back and book another tour with her.
We experienced a full day cultural tour with Nozomi Kondo, who was exceptional. Her knowledge and expertise guided us through the day and enabled the highly skilled artisans to educate us about their craft and creativity. It was a privilege to watch the artisans at work, to experience their skills and expertise in creating unique pieces, and to hear the traditions and history behind their crafts. Nozomi is very engaging, knowledgeable and made the day an experience to remember.
Kanazawa Guided Tour We had the pleasure of spending a full day with Ian on what was a fantastic day, walking the streets & sights of Kanazawa. Ian arrived at our Machiya Villa right on time and then took us everywhere we had hoped to see plus much more. Ian's knowledge of Kanazawa is amazing and there wasn't a question that he could not answer along the way. Ian is a great bloke, extremely knowledgeable and very handy when it came to ordering lunch and taking family photos for us. At the completion of our tour, Ian asked if we would like to go to another Geisha district on the other side of town which was not originally planned...it was amazing! After a fantastic day, Ian even assisted with organizing a taxi back home for us. If you want to see the best of Kanazawa...Ian Walker is your man! The Winiecki family.
We had an excellent day with our guide Nozomi on a tour she had tailored to our interests. We began in the Geisha district, early in the morning so that it wasn’t crowded. We then went to the workshop of one of the few remaining traditional Japanese umbrella makers and she gave us a fascinating demonstration of her craft. Nozomi then took us for a delicious lunch at a place we would never have found ourselves and she arranged vegetarian food. Thence to the workshop of a wood turner for another brilliant demonstration of her skill. Nozomi was a superb guide. Her English is excellent and we learned such a lot from her about Japanese life and culture. It was such a privilege to have this experience. In addition the day ran like clockwork and we never had to wait for a taxi. She also took loads of photos which was very helpful.
Sachiko was our tour guide. She is exceptional in so many ways. In addition to her deep knowledge and passion for Kanazawa, she helped us straighten out our Shinkansen ticket issues. We are truly grateful to have met her. She helped us make our first day at Kanazawa truly memorable.
It is walking tour and even if weather is raining it is still enjoyable. Our guide Kenzo was helpful and provided information.
This was a fantastic tour. Guide Nozomi was obviously an expert in the history and culture of this fascinating city. Her enthusiasm was infectious. She was flexible and happy to customise our tour to reflect our interests and requests, particularly to accommodate some shopping needs. We covered a lot of ground but at a digestible pace. Her perfect colloquial English was a bonus and made the tour more relaxed. Thank you Nozomi!
