Kanazawa New Grand Hotel Premier

Very good location in the heart of Kanazawa; clean, modern, and an excellent breakfast buffet in a charming, mostly wood dining room with quiet classical music. Items featured were local Kanazawa specialties. Very nice service.

Rooms are comfortable with a minifridge. There's a happy hour with free wine & sodas in the sister hotel two buildings over. Free unsecured wifi. Washing machine/dryer combo has built in detergent for about 500 yen. You can get change from the front desk because the machine only accepts 100 yen coins. Across the street from a temple that has a bridge to the castle which has a bridge to the famous park. About half mile to the running path along the river. Great location. The breakfast has a combination of western food and traditional japansese breakfast items.

A typical tourist hotel offering the least western breakfast buffet I’ve encountered in more than four weeks in Asia. Lots of very small servings of items that would not be found in a western hotel—and scrambled eggs that were so undercooked it was hard to get them to stay on the spoon. More importantly, however, was the inshielded electrical outlet for my bedside lamp—a health and fire hazard! Picture attached of wire extending through a hole in the floor. Wouldn’t take much for this to result in a fire!

Could not be more disappointed in our stay at this property. Common areas were well maintained but not cooled and the HVAC did not work in our room. The staff were friendly and tried to help us out with a fan, but that did not resolve the problem so we were forced to move to another property the second night of our stay. The room was very small, beds hard and amenities sparce. The rate was excessive for the class of accomodations. We paid 30% less at the Tokyu Stay next door for a much larger room, better furnishings, working HVAC throughout and an excellent free breakfast INCLUDED. I cannot recommend this place at all.
