Lion & Safari Park

My driver to the park was Byron. He was very kind and informative about the history of South Africa. He drove me safely to and from the park. The park itself was truly wonderful. I loved seeing the lions and other animals in their habitats. The tour guide was Princess and she too was very informative about all of the animals. I learned so much on this tour altogether. I would highly recommend.

We booked this Lion and Safari Park half day tour by Stephenson Adventures through Tripadvisor.com for the morning on 9/3/26. When our SQ478 flight suddenly delayed more than 4 1/2 hours, I text messaged Stephenson and he said no problem and rescheduled our hotel pick to the afternoon. The pickup was on time and the driver was very friendly. We very much enjoyed the tour and then were sent back to our hotel. Great service!

We had a wonderful time with Oupa. Within a few hours at the park, we saw four of the big five up close. Oupa was punctual, knowledgeable and friendly. He went the extra mile to make sure we saw the brown lions, and it was unforgettable. Our group of seven was very pleased with course day. Highly recommend.

This was a great value for the time we had available and the cost. Transportation was provided hotel door to hotel door. Our guide Matildah was delightful and knowledgeable. The gift shops were nice. I recommend the tour!

This is an excellent way to see the wild animals at close distance and get plenty of information about them. We saw lions, cheetah, hyenas and a lot more animals. The leopards were not African but they could be seen very close and in motion. We managed to catch the last 2 h drive in the park.

Our trip to Lion Park was truly an amazing experience! Our driver, Tsholo, was charismatic, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable. He shared the fascinating history of Johannesburg and made the drive both enjoyable and informative. This is a family trip, and Tsholo made us feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for throughout the entire journey. His friendly personality and excellent service made this experience even more special for all of us. Thank you for helping create such wonderful memories. First and only in South Africa Self Driving , Guided game drive and 4x4 trail. The coolest and best experience we ever had !!!

The trip was fantastic. Everything went smoothly, from the hotel pickup to the ride home. The driver, Oupa, was a very friendly guy who provided me with lots of information. I highly recommend it.

We had Collins and John as our drivers during our plans around Joburg. The communication was excellent. A lot of very interesting storytelling along the way. I can highly recommend these guys!

Absolutely worth doing, our guide named Enough was fantastic. We were taken around the park and was fortunate enough to see the Lions feed. Once in a lifetime experience.

Great to see the lions etc but it's a park and not a safari so be prepared for fences and enclosures.

The Lion and Safari Park was the perfect experience for us, especially given that my girlfriend has a real phobia of animals. This was a great way to ease into it without feeling overwhelmed. From the start, everything was well organized. Our driver picked us up and gave us an outstanding overview on the way, setting the tone for the day. Once we arrived, our guide took over and did an excellent job. Knowledgeable, engaging, and made the entire experience comfortable and enjoyable. We were able to see a wide range of animals in a controlled, safe environment, which made all the difference. It gave us the opportunity to experience the wildlife without the intensity of a full safari. For me, it was a great introduction and definitely confirmed that I will be back for a full safari experience next time I’m in South Africa. Highly recommend this for anyone looking for a well run, informative, and accessible wildlife experience.

It was an amazing experience! The transportation was clean and on time…the driver was friendly, helpful and informative…the drive was nice and the entire event was great! The Safari guide was excellent and made sure we had the best view point for animals, feedings and more! The entire event was safe and family friendly!

Great experience - they feed the lions on Saturdays and Sundays at 12pm so we got to see this which was great! We also did a tour of Soweto afterwards as an add on which was great. Banele was a great host with so much knowledge. Highly recommend. Worth the extra money you'd pay vs. driving yourself just for the knowledge from the host!

We’ve had to extend our time in South Africa due to our flight being cancelled, so we’ve added a few day trips to see more of the country. This trip, hosted by Stephenson Adventures, was a lot of fun! Our tour guide Banele was a great host! He told us about the history of the area. We had an hour inside the park itself and got to see many lions.

Collins is truly a jack of all trades. There is much more to him than meets the eye. He has a natural ability to retain factual information and deliver it in a way that is thoughtful and engaging. He may be subtle in his approach, but he is incredibly impactful. In our personal conversations, we could sense that we were speaking with someone who had depth — someone with a story. It is humbling how easy it is to get caught up in your own world, your own challenges, and your own perspective, only to realize how much larger the world truly is. Our ride with him was amazing. Now, onto our safari guide, Moosana. This man absolutely knows what he is doing. We loved every single moment of the safari. We were fortunate enough to see all the animals, and he went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and welcome. Not only did we experience incredible wildlife sightings, but we also learned fascinating facts along the way. If you are thinking about booking this tour, stop thinking and just book it. You will not regret it. And one piece of advice — bring money to tip your drivers and tour guides. They work incredibly hard at what they do, and they deserve every bit of appreciation you can offer. Their dedication and effort truly make the experience unforgettable.

Driver was on time. Clean transport was offered water. Nice touch . Our driver was a lovely guy called Mr Collins he had a wealth of knowledge and we spoke about the history of Joburg. This guy is a credit to the business ! The tour was very good saw all we wanted to see

I had the most amazing day at the lion & safari dusty was an amazing tour guide around the safari she made the experience fun and enjoyable and I learnt so much about the animals from her, John was my pick up and drop off driver to and from the safari he taught me so much about the culture of Africa and we had such a laugh there and back and made the journey fun and memorable thank you so much John and dusty for a day I will remember forever x

This safari tour was exciting and a lot of fun. We didn’t have much time to travel further out for a large game drive, so this ticked the box perfectly. We saw giraffes and lions, which were the highlight, but there are many other animals to see along the way. We had so thrilling close encounters with animals but our guide kept a safe distance.

Absolutely amazing experience! Our driver was friendly and picked us up in a nice van. The tour guide was funny and informative. Try to go on a Sunday around noon (lion feeding schedule) and sit on the left side of the vehicle. Make sure you feed the giraffes also

Mark was an amazing guide during my trip to the Lion Safari Park. He was so patient and kind. We had great conversations, and he shared so much about the country. He always checked to make sure I was comfortable and taken care of. I felt safe and relaxed the entire trip. Highly recommended!

I do not recommend buying this Viator. The link the agent sent me increased the price by over $50 USD from what I inquired about. I couldn’t cancel it over the price because the event was the next day. They also advertised it as a private tour, it is not. It’s just a private Uber ride.Out of the total 4 hour event, 45 minutes was standing around waiting for the tour to start. The 2 hour tour was actually 90 minutes with 30 minutes at the end at the snack bar. Viator is basically charging you $100 USD for an Uber ride plus the price of the park admission. If I’d known that, I would have simply ordered Uber directly and bought a park admission at the gate. It would have saved me a lot of money.

I had an AMAZING experience at Ukutula and Lion walk. Our tour guide (Opa) was phenomenal!!! Attractive and VERY accommodating. The tour was amazing. The tour guide at the park (Gordon) was so knowledgeable and I loved his attention to each participant. Hats off to the team. The owner was very kind and humble. I just love you guys!!!

Unfortunately Steve was 40 minutes late following a car accident so we missed our slot. But in the end, it meant we were treated graciously with complimentary drinks whilst waiting for the next Park truck and ended up having an unexpected 'private' tour with just our party on the truck. So all good in the end.

Had a great day trip to the safari game park with Collins. He was punctual, polite, friendly, knowledgeable, etc. Guided us thru the park, waited for us, etc. A great experience. Thank you.

The lion park is a lot of fun. The tour guides are very knowledgeable and friendly. It was money well spent.

e did the tour with Oupa at Lion and Safari Park. Oupa was the best tour guide, very knowledgeable and very friendly. We're very impressed with his knowledge about South Africa history. I will recommend him for every tour guide to Lion and Safari.

My grandson and I were guided by Collins on this tour who was extremely informative about the history of South Africa and its people. His commentary was the best we had heard from all of the 9 different guides we had during our holiday in South Africa. He was punctual, polite and catered for the needs of an older person as well as a teenager. He prepared us well for the adventure in the lion park, which we enjoyed immensely.

Collins was our guide and he was extremely attentive and informative. I highly recommend asking for him to be your guide. We saw the lions being fed and that was a fantastic experience.

Had an amazing day with our driver Collins. We first did the safari tour and everyone was patient and informative. Colin’s also gave us a history lesson on South Africa during the ride very helpful. He also gave us recommendation for a near by event for Zulu tribe and more and we booked right away. Collins took pictures and continued to be there for us the whole time making it more special. What a day!

This was the best safari and we got to see all of the animals that were listed. Effortless the pickup at the hote was prompt the ride was comfortable. Loved our guide Mo!

We simple guys, we land in South Africa, we go to Safari. Collins was our guide today. Pickup from the hotel in a comfortable car (I’m writing with the WiFi that it provides) Arrived at the Park and witnessed lions, cheetas, giraffes, zebras, crocodiles Then there are plenty shops with atypical souvenirs. Finally, we calmly went back to our hotel. Thank you, Collins!

A fun and fast way to see some amazing animals up close in a short period of time. Our guide Masana was awesome. Very funny but very informative too. Steve, who picked me up and organized the trip, was exceptional. These experiences are always enhanced by guides/hosts/drivers who give you so much information on any subject to do with Johannesburg or South Africa. Steve was great to talk to, and I learned a lot from him, which was a bonus. Highly recommended.

We went yo the Rhino & Lion preserve - outstanding as you are very close to the animals! Our guide, Collin was excellent. We mistakenly booked the wrong tour & he was able to correct this enroute. The preserve slso has a wild life & reptile section. Definitely A+ to visit.

This was an amazing experience! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the animals. I believe her name was Dusty. It was a reasonable cost. They pick you up from your hotel. Our drivers to and from the safari was very nice. I would definitely recommend this safari.
