I combined a visit to Lesedi Cultural Village with the Lion Park, making it a fantastic full day activity. I met Tshepo, who took care of all the logistics, including pickup and transportation. He's incredibly easy to talk to, and we shared many deep and thoughtful conversations along the way, making the drive feel like it lasted only minutes. His openness gave me the opportunity to ask more about South Africa's history, culture, and significant historical events. He spoke with great knowledge and confidence, which enriched the entire experience and gave me a much deeper understanding before arriving at Lesedi. The cultural village itself provides an excellent introduction to South Africa's diverse tribes, their traditions, and the core elements that make each culture unique. Their dances, songs, and traditional attire helped me visualize these cultures far more clearly than I could before my visit. Ending the day at the Lion Park felt like a fitting conclusion. After learning about the deep cultural and spiritual connections many communities have with nature and wildlife, seeing these magnificent animals up close added another dimension to the experience. Together, Lesedi Cultural Village and the Lion Park offer a memorable journey through both South Africa's rich cultural heritage and its remarkable wildlife.
Paul, our driver, was amazing and made the experience truly enjoyable. He was friendly and went above and beyond. Overall, it was a great experience, and we really appreciated the opportunity to learn about and experience the various tribes.
Recommend book thru Thomas Moafrica, MoAfrica +27 60 446 3076. He is much more than a personal driver. He is a guide and historian, with a vast wealth of knowledge about everything South Africa. Not only did he drive us round-trip in his Toyota SUV, but he also stayed with us for our full day experience at Lesedi Cultural Village, in Gauteng Province, 90 minute drive from center city Johannesburg, South Africa. He also added in a short visit to nearby Lions & Safari Park...at no cost! We are indebted to Thomas for taking good care of us all day.
The trip was actually a transfer booked through MoAfrika from Pilanesberg National Park to Johannesburg Airport, which took approximately four hours. Our driver Carson was professional and went above and beyond to make the transfer more than just a transfer driving experience. We asked him questions and he gave us a very interesting and informative history of South Africa over the past 150 years. He was exceptionally knowledgeable and we really appreciated the effort he went to keep us entertained and informed during the trip.
Very informative, well organized entertainment in Lesedi village. And our driver Khutso from MoAfrica tours was very kind in providing the additional information throughout the drive there.
Thomas, our guide through MoAfrika Tours really made this 1/2 day outing extra special! He is a superb guide, thoughtful, fun & kind! You will be lucky to have him as your guide! Seek him out! The introduction/exposure to the 5 different villages & their cultures was nicely done. The drumming & dancing was exceptional— nicely accompanied by a helpful bit of narrative. The buffet lunch was delicious & a nice way to sample more of the various South African area specialties.
I loved my tour with my guide Khutso. He was extremely knowledgable of South Africa. He was pointing out all the important landmarks on the drive. He made me feel comfortable. During the village tour he offered me water. He was amazing!
We had a half day tour to Lesedi Cultural Village and learned about the differences of the traditional tribes in South Africa in a easy way. Lebo was a amazing guide who also gave us many information about South Africa and also living here. We highly recommend him and the tour.
I highly recommend visiting Lesedi Cultural Village! I very much enjoyed the dance performance, it reflected the spirit of South Africa. I also had lunch, which was enjoyable.
Our tour to Lesedi Cultural Village was insightful and entertaining. Our tour guide, Thomas, engaged in the experience to make it extra special for our group. The village members were welcoming and made learning about the various tribes fun. You truly feel like you are a part of the villages.
My day with Khutso was amazing, I had to modify my trip so he was the assigned tour guide and driver for me. Before the cultural village we did the cradle of human kind. He would share interesting facts of where we are or the everyday of the people around as he drove us to the destinations. We were laughing all the time. Now regarding Lesedi… It’s a great experience, you get to learn about the diverse heritage of South Africa in one place. Our guide was lovely and she happily answered our questions. The dancers are incredible and you can see they LOVE to dance. One of the dancers was in his day off and still joined the “party”. There is many food and drink options, all was really good. Also here I found many great souvenirs at a really good price. I would also say, that the cost of admission was a bit too high compared to similar experiences that I had in other countries, but I still encourage everyone to go, especially if your stay in South Africa is short.
Mo Africa was great. Helpful and excellent communication. Thomas was our driver guide who was both a good driver and friendly. Transport arrived on time and the driver was safe and kept to speed limits.
Our tour to lesedi and the cradle of human kind was very interesting and definitely worthwhile. Out guide was great and MoAfrika were very professional.
A must do when visiting Joburg! From booking online, to being given the arrival time of the tour guide to being dropped back off at the hotel, the experience and customer service was great. To visit a country and hear about their culture and history has been fantastic. As a first time solo traveller i felt safe and welcome straight away. my tour guide was Pedney, and he was a wonderful man, greeted me with a smile on his face and told me interesting facts about South Africa. The whole experience was great, to learning about the different tribes, clothes, language and even dancing and drumming. All finished off with a delicious buffet. Pedney was amazing and I couldn't fault the service he provided at all.
Thoroughly recommend this experience! We were collected by Zinto who at once made us welcome to Johannesburg and on our drive to the village he pointed out places of interest. The Lesida Cultural Village itself was fabulous, we were treated to singing and dancing and a well organised tour of the tribal villages! It was amazing! Thoroughly enjoyed the incredible lunch provided and everyone was so friendly and welcoming! Enjoyed Zinto’s company at lunch and learnt some more about your beautiful country.
It was a fantastic trip, we loved it A live representation of multiple cultures: visits to five traditional South African ethnic communities, including the Zulu, Xhosa, Pedi, Basotho, and Ndebel The driver was kind and helpful
The tour was amazing! Not only was the cultural experience of Lesedi unforgetable, but also Tinyiko was an incredible driver and guide! He even went so far as to teach us songs and facts about the city as we drove to and from our destinations! Additionally, we were able to safely leave items on the bus while at our destinations. Would definitely recommend!
Our visit to Lesedi Cultural Village was truly an unforgettable experience, made even more special by our excellent driver Carson. The hotel pickup was punctual, and we were warmly welcomed. The scenic drive to the village offered breathtaking views and was a relaxing way to start the tour. Upon arrival at Lesedi, we were immersed in a vibrant and educational cultural experience. The tour was both informative and highly interactive, offering a unique insight into the diverse cultures and traditions of South Africa’s people. From traditional dances to the detailed explanations of the different tribal homesteads, every part of the tour was thoughtfully presented. Our driver was not only professional and friendly but also very knowledgeable. He went out of his way to ensure we were comfortable throughout the journey and provided interesting commentary along the way. His helpful and courteous nature added greatly to the overall experience. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to explore South Africa’s rich cultural heritage in an engaging and respectful way. A big thank you to the team for making our visit so memorable!
We had a great time on Lesedi! Carson was an amazing guide and gave us a lot of good informations during the tour, highly recommended.
We really did not know what to expect on this tour given a temperature of 16 degrees, but apparently these performers did not seem to know it was cold, they gave their all with an exceptional program that combined history with culture and a whole lot of energy to tell the story on the making of South Africa. Really time well spent. Our driver and guide Padhey did a great job getting us there and keeping us informed throughout.
Carson picked us up in the modern and comfortable Mo Africa bus, and sprinkled in a mix of history and modern day trivia into our drive to Lesedi. The Lesedi Village tour was informative, but I really enjoyed the interactive drumming and dancing! The food was also good, I especially appreciated the warm apple pudding and custard on a cold day.
Was so awesome loved it so much. Our tour guide Carson was the best! He was very knowledgeable about everything and made sure we were all doing good the entire time!
Very nice experience. The guides are brilliants. The atmosphere in Lesedi is very nice. We had the tour with diner and it was very good. Really a must when in jhb
A excellent tour . Thabo made sure we had a great time and was very informative on local culture as we were travelling . The village was amazing so much information about the tribes and culture . Lunch was amazing Thank you
I went to the Lesedi village with Mr. Thapelo. It was an amazing experience and a privilege to have him as my guide. He has a brilliant knowledge of South Africa and the area. He even speaks 11 languages fluently, this is so impressive. Best guide I have ever seen! He is very kind and always makes sure you are fine with everything. He gives you a lot of important recommendations and tips about the city. He has a very big heart. I had the best experience with Mr Thapelo. I would always recommend him 1000%. He is the best guide I have ever seen!!!
Tour was great too. Was an immersion in culture. All staff were thoughtful, and food was delicious. Definetly recommend .
Our driver was very friendly. He picked up us on time and explained how the day was gonna be. He assured us all the time and was very attentive with our questions. When we go to the Village, we had an amazing and very interesting day, full of activities and our favorite time was the Boma Dance. We had an amazing lunch!! So delicious. Our guide gave us all the time in the world to have lunch and do some gift shopping. 10/10!!
I recently did two trips with MoAfrica Tours, one to Lesedi Cultural Village and the other to Maropeng Musem and Wonder Caves. Both experiences were excellent. The agency is very professional. The guides are very friendly and good at their job. I would especially like to thank Kuda, my tour agent, who provided me with full support till the end of the tours. I had earlier done two trips to Pilanesberg and Soweto with the same agency in 2022, and was extremely satisfied even then. The best part of their tours is that they offer doorstep pick and drop service. Overall I would recommend MoAfrica to anybody who is new to South Africa and is looking for a safe and hassle-free tour experience.
Amazing experience ! The driver was very nice and always checking how we were doing. Beautiful village, learning so much about their culture. Highly recommend !
Moafrika office suggested this tour! Driver picked us up on time. We played and learned drumming with a Zulu playing on the beat. We had great fun! Our guide Kutalo were very patient and friendly with us. He explain some languages conveyd and communicated through performances and confersations. After the tour we had a delicous lunch. Great way to end off.
All trips taken with this travel agency were great! Very professional, always in time and d they did a really good job in organizing my trip .
The tour was very educational and enjoyable. I got great photos. The tour guide Tshepo was exceptional and very knowledgeable.
I went on the Lesedi Cultural Village tour and the highlights of the tour was when we encountered an unexpected rainstorm during the outdoor cultural performance of what could have been a disruption was turned into a memorable moment by our guide, John and staff of Moafrika Toufs. He quickly adapted the program, moving us to a covered area and seamlessly incorporating the rain into the storytelling and dance. His quick thinking and expertise ensured that we still had an incredible experience, and we even got to learn about the significance of rain in African culture Thank you John for your quick thinking and Moafrika Tours for the planing that was in place.
Excellent trip our driver Cipho was amazing and extremely knowledgeable. The Lesedi Tour was great and very nice vendors one thing I’ll say when at the village make sure you know your correct currency for yourself
The driver who picked us up from our hotel was wonderful. He was conversational and gave us information about the city on our hour drive to the Lesedi Village. Unfortunately, once arriving at the village, the experience was not at all what we were anticipating. The entire experience is a staged reenactment and resembles what one might do on a school field trip. While some of the actors did a nice job, several seemed uninterested. Many of the activities of the day seemed like a money grab, where tips were being requested and we were being approached to purchase DVDs and CDs of the music and dancing. We were hoping for a more authentic experience while in Africa. If you are interested in the historical culture of the South African tribes, I would recommend a museum instead.
Guy was our tour guide and he did a very good job of setting us up for our visit on the ride to the site. We were impressed by the athleticism of the performers and their dedication.
Trip to the Lesedi Village was awesome! Amazing experience, especially the dance performance at the end. Learned a lot about Southern Africa. Our tour guide Happiness was an awesome guide. Learned a lot from him and he took great care of our small group. Highly recommend MoAfrika tours!
Great day at the village Learned a lot and had a beautiful performance of dancing and learned how to play the drums My guide Bryon from moafrika was perfect, very good with no problem on pickup and driving, Bryon shared some informations about tourism and Johannesburg suggesting me other tours. Thank you a lot Bryon hope when I come back with family and friends I get a chance to go on other tours with you Thanks moafrika and lasedi village for the day too Big hugs from Brazil
It was really a great trip to a tradiditional African village, we could learn about the traditional African ways. Our tou guide was great.
An abundance of African cultural activities was displayed. We were treated to great songs, dance, music and food.
Everything about this experience was exceptional, starting with the high-energy and good natured attitude of our driver, Happiness! What a way to embody a name. He shared a lot of information with our small group on the drive to the village and when we arrived the locals did a fantastic job of welcoming us. In addition to the introduction to tribal life and customs, there was a drumming session, a traditional dance performance and a fantastic meal. Can’t recommend this experience enough for anyone interested in the tribal history of South Africa. Great way to spend a day.
Lesedi Cultural Village gave us a unique taste of traditional village life in South Africa. The village recreations were realistic and the commentary informative with some humour thrown in. The dance and singing performance was amazing were were aborted from the opening moments. Lunch was also very good with a nice buffet selection. We would thoroughly recommend a visit.
Out tour guide Mark was amazing and Lesedi Culture Village was above and beyond my expectations. I learned so much about the different tribes.
Definitely worth a visit to get an overview of the various Tribes in South Africa and an understanding of their history.
I was able to practice solo drum session with a coach. The experience was extraordinary for me. Overall, the group session as too commercialized with pre-planned stage performances. I prefer the solo session which is more immersive and satisfying. I was able to come back to the hotel early as alternative arrangements were made due to a member of the group wants to do some more shopping. Thanks for the catering and planning the personalized course for customer's convenience.
Tribe exhibits and dance show were very informative and entertaining. It is a great way to preserve the cultural heritage of these people.
Great experience with Tour Guides, Khutso and Gasa that picked us up from hotel and dropped us off at our desired destination. They were professional throughout our tour and were willing to help to our every need The Lesedi Tour of the selected tribes itself was informative and exciting while learning about each of the tribal villages and their background and history.
I really enjoyed this tour as it gave us an insight into the different tribes of South Africa. We got to play drums with Zulu tribesmen which was great fun. We learned about the history of each of the different tribes and saw what each of their villages would have looked like. We then had a show of traditional dancing which was great. After the tour we had a lovely lunch where we were offered crocodile on the menu. I would definitely recommend doing this tour if you want to know the history of the South African people.
Had an amazing at lesedi with my Guide Prince. Thank you for being so kind and patient with me it means a lot MoAfrika tours and Lesedi cultural village hood combination
