My guide was exceptional - but I can’t remember his name!! I’m certain it’s the fellow who’s mentioned in previous reviews. Anyway - do this tour! Especially if you have an interest in or affinity for art. It was a joyous experience.

I would recommend this tour to any age. There was great art and interesting history. The guide, Refiloe, was knowledgeable, informative, and very interesting. The tour is very safe, and it’s a secure way to investigate an incredibly interesting area. So much so we asked our driver to give us an extra hour and a half so we could look around more.

It was great to see the street art in Maboneng and get an explanation for each mural. Our guide, Refiloe was funny and energetic. A great 2 hour introduction to another side of Johannesburg.

This experience exceeded my expectations. It ended up being just me and my friend, and our tour guide Refiloe was fabulous. He was very knowledgeable and personable. He allowed us enough time to take the photos we desired and answered our numerous questions. This area in the center of town used to be a hotbed of crime but has been rebuilt and renovated into a wonderful arts district. If you are looking for something unique to do in Johannesburg- this is it!

I booked the Maboneng Street Arts Tour and was greeted by the guide on time at the agreed meeting point. The guide showed me Maboneng and made the tour very informative and humorous, which gave the whole experience a special style. I highly recommend this experience.

This tour is an outstanding way to see a very interesting neighborhood, observe some amazing street art, and learn the context and symbolism of dozens of pieces. What a pleasant surprise this tour turned out to be! From the wonderful coffee and service at Home of the Bean, to our brilliant tour guide, Refiloe. He was so knowledgeable and outgoing - a true ambassador for Maboneng and South Africa! Maboneng District itself is a true hidden gem and everybody should make the effort to visit at some point. This was a great way to walk the streets of Johannesburg while enjoying and supporting art. It was a wonderful opportunity to get up close to some amazing street art, learn about the artists, and see life in Johannesburg from a different perspective. Our tour guide, who was also a photographer, provided great information throughout the experience. Apologies as I am home and did not write down the tour guide's name, we did the tour on April 2.

This Maboneng Street Art Tour (booked through Viator) was one of the highlights of our time in Johannesburg. We learned about the artists, the culture of the area, and how Maboneng has evolved over time. It made the experience much richer than simply walking around on our own. I had an amazing experience on the Mobenang Street Art and Culture Tour. The tour guide was very knowledgeable of all the art and history of the place. He helped me capture beautiful pictures of all the art and surrounding areas. It was 2 hours which was plenty of time to see all the art. I totally recommend this tour. Well worth it! The admission fee was reasonable too.

Best custumer service ever: they allowed me to book even after due time and did everything to accomodate out needs. And the best guide in Town, too: he knew every detail about the tour and the graffitis are really good!

I really enjoyed this tour. Our guide, was knowledgeable, warm, and clearly passionate about the stories behind the art and the people who shaped Maboneng. Even though I don’t usually follow art, I found myself really engaged and learning a lot. My favourite piece was the large mural of a woman carrying her child, representing the movement of people and culture into new environments. The way our guide explained the symbolism of migration, resilience, and identity made the piece feel alive and meaningful instead of just something to look at. Halfway through the tour I started to feel a bit unwell, but our guide remained encouraging and patient throughout which I really appreciated. The only thing I would suggest is having a small rest or coffee break midway through, and perhaps ending back at the same starting point for ease of navigation. But overall, it was a wonderful experience and a great way to see a different, creative side of Jo-hustle-berg/Josie.

The art walk was a delightful venture where I experienced the culture of arts created by artists who wanted to communicate a message about all the people of the District and country . Our guide was extremely knowledgeable, and the fact he is a photographer enhanced his love for the art he was showcasing. So glad I picked this tour as one of my adventures while in Johannesburg. This is a a must-do tour for anyone visiting Jo-burg! Our guide was Refilwe, who was on-time, likable, and extremely well-informed about Jo-burg street art, culture and history. We were with Refilwe a little over two hours and saw at least 35-40 street art installations. We had plenty of time for taking photos, asking questions, etc. We learned a lot about South African history and culture as we viewed the various installations. We were fortunate to actually meet one of the top street artist, who was in the middle of finishing a piece when we happened by. Throughout the tour, we felt safe, informed, and comfortable. Refilwe dropped us at a coffee shop at the end of the tour so that we could meet up with an Uber that took us back to our hotel. This was one of the best local tours that we have taken in a long time! Very educational and a good value!

Our guide, Refiloe, was great. He set a pace that suited us. We were lucky to be only people on the tour so we had opportunity to ask questions and get a good understanding of the art pieces. Refiloe was full of knowledge about the history of the area which added to our understanding and appreciation of the art. The area still has safety issues and I recommend doing a tour to get the best from the precinct.
