A Beautiful Family Experience with City Sightseeing Johannesburg! ❤️🚌 We had such a wonderful time exploring Johannesburg with City Sightseeing! It was such a lovely experience, especially getting to share this adventure with my children. The Red Bus gave us an opportunity to see the city from a different perspective, enjoy the beautiful sights and create special memories together. One of our highlights was hopping off at the Johannesburg Zoo, spending some time exploring before hopping back onto the bus to continue our journey. The entire experience was a fun and refreshing way to spend quality family time. I would definitely recommend City Sightseeing to anyone looking for a unique way to explore Johannesburg, whether with family, friends or even on your own. Thank you to the City Sightseeing team for making our day memorable. We had a blast, and we’d happily do it again! ❤️

Absolute must do in Jo Burg. It takes you to the best places. I highly recommend stopping at Melrose for breakfast and shopping, Constitution Hill, Apartheid museum and enjoying the rest of the tour on the open air bus with audio guide. You get fu see the very wealthy areas from the beginning at Rosebank down to the edge of the city centre and Hillbrow (from a short distance) as well as other downtown areaa such as the mining city. It's a vast city and this is the best way to see it. The price is really good too
Great audio tour, knowledgeable staff, and thorough tour of Johannesburg!
Great way to quickly see learn about Joburg! I also did the Soweto option and our guides, were great! Highly recommended and a great value!
Great experience. The bus stops at really interesting spots and the information provided was fascinating and provided a great background of this really interesting City. Definitely worth doing to get a great understanding of the City and some of its history and special locations. The red line takes about 2.5 hours for a full lap. You can hop on or off at the set stops. Buses were running about every 40 minutes from the stops.
Great value for the money, easy to book so much information to learn about Johannesburg
Viator is a third party and the bus driver may be frustrated because he/she will need to take a picture of the voucher and send it to the dispatcher to verify. Be patient and enjoy the ride
Great way to see the city from a safe perch. I stayed at the Holiday Inn, so the first stop was directly below my window- super convenient! Don't miss the Soweto add-on tour. Chatting with our guides on this part was my favorite part of the whole tour. Also, consider bringing your own wired earphones for better sound and to reduce waste.
DT was an amazing guide! We enjoyed the tour very much into Soweto and seeing & learning about the place! In general the hop on hop off experience was great and to be recommended when visiting Jo’burg.
Great way to get an overview of Johannesburg. Great experience.
Recommended. Used the tour to go to constitution hill and apartheid museum. Those are essential stops visiting Joburg. Start early as the bus takes two and a half hours to get around and you'll need at least an hour at CH and two to three hours at the apartheid museum. But just driving around the rest of the city was a very enjoyable and I sigjtdful experience. The included audio tour is very good. The only recommendation I would make is to make it clearer what the pick up times are for each stop. You have to work it out yourself from the last pick up time and work backwards 40 minutes at a time...
The Soweto part of this bus tour was fantastic. Our guide, Kageso, who was Soweto born and bred, was absolutely fantastic. His enthusiasm, knowledge and fabulous personality really made the experience memorable. 5* to him !!
Great tour. Visited all areas of Jo'burg. Well organised, easy to navigate. Interesting and good value for money. Soweto tour a must!
Very punctual and covering the main landmarks of the city. Soweto tour was good but there was no time to enter the Mandela house and I would have liked to do that without waiting for the next bus stop in the same place (every 40 minutes), so in the end I skipped It. I would suggest to include that visit (or the option/time to do It) in the duration of the tour.
On time bus experience around the key points of Johannesburg, and the bus stopped to allow us passengers to take pictures of the city skyline at the top of the hill. Good for those that like to be driven around to see the sights and locations of the city.
Excellent value for money. Friendly and efficient staff
The most amazing experience The bus tour is exceptional value and the guide was extremely informative. Special thanks to Lala who was friendly and chatty and looked after my son who was feeling unwell
We had a great day. Lovely day.
We went as a couple on a Friday which wasn’t too busy. I enjoyed the red bus tour of Johannesburg but I do think that the Soweto tour was absolutely stand-out. Our first guide Thabang was really engaging, made the tour interactive and was very knowledgeable. We hopped off at Vilakazi Street to have lunch at Sakhumzi then went with Keamogetswe who was also knowledgeable and funny. I definitely recommend adding on the Soweto tour if you’re going to do the red bus tour and start the tour early so you can spend more time in Soweto.
Highly recommended. Safe option of travelling around Johannesburg. Guides are knowledgeable and informative. The only issue we encountered is the ticket sent to us has the wrong hotel shuttle pick up time , resulted in delay in our tour by 1 hour. Our guide & driver, DT & Teddy have provided us a great insight into Soweto.
good way to see the city, and they were super nice letting me store my luggage in the office! the only slight issue was that the hop-on hop-off times don’t seem to line up with the soweto tour times very well
I surprised my two little girls aged 7 and 12 with the bus tour and they were ecstatic! I had been before but this was their first time. I decided to tune into the kids channel just to monitor what my 7 year old would be listening to and can I unashamedly say I probably enjoyed it more than they did. LOL. I loved the characters the storylines, I was singing along with the songs, and the jokes made me holla out loud the entire time. I also loved that they were getting the important education in this manner. My 12 year old ended up also switching to our channel and was cracking up along with us. We will definitely be back to include Soweto and we cannot wait to do the Cape Town tour and any other international destination we find ourselves in where the Bus operates. What a joyful experience. The staff was just amazing and helpful. Thanks and definitely keep it up. May God bless and continue to increase you always. - A happy mom in Johannesburg 💕😆
The bus tour was good but the Soweto small bus tour was excellent. The guide Caruso ? was amazing Highly recommend this part of the tour
We had an amazing time! On the bus you get plenty of info on many parts of the city and its history. Definitely recommend adding the Soweto tour as well! We were lucky to have Kagiso as our guide, who gave us a great insight into life in the townships and most importantly spread nothing but positivity and good vibes. 10/10!
One of my key highlights of being in Jozi was this tour. Truly an amazing experience, our guides Kea and Tshepang were so insightful, knowledgeable and passionate about the area — really great people. Soweto is beautiful and Vikalazi was truly wonderful.
Thw experience was overall amazing. Well organized. Mujumutzi (spelling?) And Themba were professional, friendly and well informed. I can truly recommend it. Bring snacks and warm clothes if winter.
Excellent communication, tour was fun & informative. The staff were helpful, knowledgeable & approachable.
We had an intresting time, the stuff us very friendly and understanding my toddler had a bathroom issue and the driver made a huge effort to help us. All drivers were friendly drove carefully and clearly explained the time issue on hopping off.The price is worth it!
We enjoyed this bus tour. It was a great way to learn about Johannesburg. The audio provided excellent explanations of the city’s history and geography. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Johannesburg.
With only one day on a stop over the Hoho bus was the perfect way for us to see the city and experience Soweto for the first time. Everything ran smoothly and it gave us a fantastic overview without feeling rushed . An easy enjoyable and highly worthwhile watt to make the most of limited time
We didnt have much time to look around Johannesberg, so felt hop on hop off bus was a good option. The complete tour is about 2 hours, even if you dont get off, so it provides a good oversight of many Johannesberg sights. The commentary was reasonable to get some insight about the place.
Great stops at must-see locations, timely schedule to hop on hop off, great narration, and froengly, helpful emoliyees
The audio tour was very informative. The bus stayed at the stops for a good amount of time. We also booked the Soweto option which is a must. You transfer in to a small van that meets the bus at casino stop. Our driver and guide were brilliant and hail from Soweto making the experience authentic. This is a taster tour but still offers plenty and I will explore more of Soweto when next in Joburg.
Generally well organized. However the Soweto trip is a bit rushed. We don't have time to enter either of the 2 historical locations we visited.
The Hop On- Hop Off City Sightseeing tour was great, especially the Soweto tour portion! The guides were so knowledgeable and spoke English very clearly. The way each of them shared information was engaging and friendly. I enjoyed my tour so very much. The driver was very professional and careful. Big thanks to Mogomotsi, Guide; Ketumetsi, Site Guide; Thabanga, Guide and Themba, Driver. Highly recommend!
This was a nice meander through various areas of Johannesburg but would have like somewhat more commentary on some of the buildings we passed.
Lala at the rosebank kiosk was really helpful and bubbly It was a pleasure!
Great, informative! The Seweto tour was absolutely amazing. I would definitely recommend the tour with Kagiso and Kagiso (apologies for the spelling if wrong). Amazing tour guide and driver. Informative, funny, kind. Really strongly would recommend.
I was in the most fortunate position of being the only 'tourist' with the most amazing two young men! Mogomotsi, the driver and Kagiso the guide, were informed, charming, attentive, friendly ... three of the best hours we had! I was bowled over! Thanks to two inspirational young South Africans! Although tourists have to be careful all over the world, (my passport was stolen in Paris, France), I never felt unsafe!
A big bright red tourist bus is more or less the last thing I usually feel myself associating with, being a steadfast devotee of solo-travel and experiencing things for myself. However in this case I opted for the HOHO Bus because I knew I wouldn't drive my rental car through CBD or Soweto, and I didn't regret it for a second. The commentary is good, non-intrusive over the headphones (many languages available), although I very much suggest you bring your own headphones - they provided ones are one-use terrible quality ones, mine didn't even properly work on both earbuds unless I pulled the cord taught. The highlight for me (others seem to agree) was the Soweto extension, so I suggest getting that. It was just me and one women on the Soweto bus, but even with more people it would still feel a lot more personal that the rest of the tour because you have actual guides there instead of the audio commentary. We didn't walk around much at all, which I think is normal but maybe was enforced by the rainy weather. Our guides were Keamogetswe (Kea) and for a short part Thabang, with driver Vincent. Particularly our main guide Kea was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic, very personable and made this into a real experience. The only thing I did not appreciate was that the guides directly connected us some of the tourist souvenir vendors. While I do understand the need to hustle to make a living and that it's a way to get tourist money into the population, I suggest leaving it up to the tourist to either engage or not engage with the stands, rather than basically introducing them to the hawkers (probably for a commission).
Great experience, fantastic Guides! Definitely recommend! I recommend take the first bus if you also want to do the soweto trip. I took the 12:20 bus at rosebank and took no food stops just did the soweto trip and the day was finished. Took the last bus at 16:30. But if your plan is just sightseeing then Definitely go for it!!!!!!
Rideshare may drop you off a block away based on the GPS. It’s one block up, easy to find in a neat area with shops. SOWETO extension is incredible with Happy as the tour guide. Local guides and a close up view of the pain from which the city was forged.
I wish we had done this sooner on our trip!!! Soweto was the gem of Johannesburg for us, we loved the vibrant, community vibes of this beautiful township. Happy our guide, was knowledgeable, fun and interactive with the guests throughout. Giving first hand knowledge of the area and showing a true pride and love for Soweto. The market had some beautiful gifts at very reasonable prices and the sellers truly seemed to appreciate any help through a purchase you could give. A must for anyone visiting Johannesburg. I’d love to come back.
Great tour animated by the energetic and empathetic Mogonotsi!
Excellent Tour. We also did the Soweto extension which was very good and informative. Our tour guides on the Soweto tour was very knowledgable as well..
I tore myself from my travel group to enjoy some time alone exploring Johannesburg. The hop on hop off stop was right by hotel..I learned more about Joburg and felt the tour exceeded my expectations.
Very easy once you find it. Lots of knowledge is given through the sound system. Lots of area is covered.
This was surprisingly good. Drivers were friendly, buses ran to schedule, and the tracking system worked well. The places the bus visits aren’t always easily accessible so it’s a good option. Tip: if you want to visit some of the places on the tour it’s worth planning in advance and starting early
Such a fantastic tour guide - so much energy and a very worthwhile experience (but unfortunately can’t remember his name - his driver was Mr Vincent) Highly recommended
The Soweto experience was done so hurriedly, we missed most of the important parts . We were not able to see most of the important things though the guide was very good at explaining but we were never given chance to explore all that we were supposed to have
