This experience was amazing. Our driver Neo was super knowledgeable and entertaining and an incredible driver. Having attractions with specialist guides along the way was also fantastic. The Soweto tour and visit to the kindergarten was a real eye-opener and it was incredible to be able to see part of this community first hand.

I booked this tour to learn about the history of South Africa and visit the city of J’burg and Soweto. The guide Neo was very knowledgable and local to the area and so was able to provide a great depth of information. He was very friendly and made me feel at ease throughout the day

My wife and I did a private tour with Thabang. He was outstanding! We have done city tours all around the world, but this was the best and most educational. Typically, city tours show you the nice public parks, shopping areas, and government buildings (blah, blah, blah). Thabang showed us everything, the good and the bad. We now have a much better understanding of Johannesburg and Soweto, than we ever would have gotten otherwise. We both feel we really learned something.

A truly memorable day with Thabang. A lifetime resident of Soweto, he provided a local’s perspective of Joburg and Soweto. He was kind, punctual and I felt completely safe. Ask if the Apartheid museum is open on the day you are touringand he can arrange to include that in the tour. It is extraordinary. Plan to have extra rand with you to gift to some of the volunteers in Soweto and the Mandela House. This day was truly memorable.

My family and I (husband and 11 year-old) had an amazing experience on this tour led by Thabang. We saw the city through the eyes of a local who deeply cares for the community. We took an extended tour of Soweto, and met some sweet local children in the process. If you’re looking for something out of the norm, then book this tour.

What a fabulous beginning to our African vacation! This was our third time taking a Soweto/Jo'burg tour, and the first 2 pale in comparison to our day with Thabang. We were traveling with our 9 year old grandson, and Thabang spoke to all of us equally, making it so interesting and fun for us all. Our grandson learned what we wanted him to understand about recent history and apartheid. We visited a pre-school and a humble Soweto home, we saw the different levels of living in Johannesburg and the township. It was an eye-opening, fascinating day led by a very bright, personable young man -- it just couldn't have been better! We wish we had had more time to visit other areas with Thabang. Don't miss it!

We really enjoyed our trip with Thabang! He was very friendly and knowledgeable, everything we hoped for. He’s from Soweto, so his knowledge of the area was very insightful. Visiting the townships and walking around was eye opening. Unfortunately, the Mandela House and surrounding area has become a tourist trap full of aggressive vendors peddling garbage souvenirs, but that’s not the guide’s fault. However, the nearby Hector Pieterson Museum is must see. Thanks, Thabang!

It was an amazing tour to Johannesburg and Soweto! Thabang was a very competent and friendly guide. The tour was structured very well and guided me through history and social classes of Joburg and Soweto. Although this structure, there was enough flexibility to focus the tour on things I was most interested to see. I felt very safe during this tour. WIthout a guide I wouldn't have visited these interesting places for sure. I was travelling as a tourist to South Africa and I did several tours around the country. This was my favourite tour although it was only 1 day. I can recommend it!

Thabang is a great guy, very knowledge, friendly and fun to be with. The trip with him was a real eye opening, educational and enjoyable. We where in JHB for five days and we had been to the Nelson Mandela square and the Malls Mall of Africa being he highlight . And we thought we had a great time . But the Climax of our stay in JHB was this tour with Tsalanang Tours . Our Host and tour Guide Thabang was simply amazing . He made sure we enjoyed our selves and even where we had tour guides take over like the constitutional him , when made sure he gave us even more information than the guide did . He is simply an amazing guide makes you feel at home really .

My group tour didn't have any scheduled time in Johannesburg aside from driving to and from the game reserve and back to the airport for a flight home. I knew that no trip to South Africa could be complete without spending time in such an important and beautiful city, so I extended my trip an extra day to ensure that didn't miss it. I found Tsalanang Tours online since I was looking for a Black Owned tour operator to give me an authentic Soweto and Johannesburg experience. I am so happy that I booked with Thabang! He was very punctual meeting me at my hotel, the tour has a set itinerary but he made sure to ask if there was anything that I wished to see or experience. I really appreciated that he wanted to ensure that my time spent in his city met my expectations, as opposed to being shuttled around to the usual tourist haunts. He shared historical and personal knowledge of the places that we visited, and each stop was interwoven into the story of the city. Thabang allowed me time to truly be immersed in the experience of each place, and I never felt rushed. It was a rain storm the day of my visit and we were not able to walk around Soweto as much as I wanted. Thabang parked outside of each place and we discussed the history and the culture of this vibrant and often misunderstood township. I learned more about South Africa in the 9 hours with Thabang than I did on my 9 day tour. It honestly didn't feel like I was on a tour, but like having a friend show me around their city. My only disappointment was that I only had one day in Joburg, and had a flight to catch that night, there was so much more I wanted to see and do. I would recommend anyone traveling to South Africa for the quick Capetown and Limpopo tour, to extend the trip a few extra days to immerse yourself in the cultural capital of the country.

Thabang was great! This was a super great tour around JoBurg and Soweto. Even during times of Covid we got to have a safe, spectacular tour. While JoBurg is not the most exciting area in SA it is a great place to get some education and perspective and this tour provides that as well! Thabang was super knowledgeable, funny, and made the tour that much better! If you are traveling to or passing through JoBurg book this tour, you will not be disappointed!!!
