I stayed at this guesthouse after another B&B recommended it when they were fully booked. Upon arrival, the host met me in the compounds and immediately escorted me to my room, pointing out a few details. I found it unusual to be taken straight to the room without first seeing the premises, but I didn’t consider it a major issue. Later, when I asked about a lounge or common area, I was told they were off limits for the day because offices were located there—this was at 5:00 PM, and this too struck me as odd. In most places I’ve stayed, hosts have been warm, helpful, and friendly, and I’ve always reciprocated with respect and friendliness. In this case, however, the host seemed less welcoming toward me. I noticed her being jovial and full of laughter with other guests, which made me think her approach varies depending on the person or group. As for the property itself, I struggled to see what makes Claire’s of Sandton a “Luxury Guest House.” The rooms were adequate, the beds comfortable enough, and the bathrooms clean and spacious. Still, I’ve stayed at many guesthouses that don’t claim the luxury label yet offer better ambiance, amenities, and a kinder reception. On the positive side, the push-button gate operation was convenient, and I appreciated the glass door to the room that opened to the outside.
Enjoyed my stay. Got a good rate on Booking.com. Zodwa was most helpful until I tried to extend my stay. When I tried to extend my stay she offered me a price R120 more expensive than Booking.com. There was no availability on Booking.com. I had already spent 3 nights with them so I would have thought that Zodwa would have offered me a better rate, rewarding my loyalty. Her attitude changed towards me. She asked me if I was going to extend my stay and I said that after her attitude towards me, with her lousy rate and arrogant stance, that I would be moving on. The road was noisy, but if your ears are used to city life then you will be ok. Pool is beautiful. Zodwa serves up a beautiful breakfast. My suggestion: if you have a good chance of extending your stay make sure to book it with your initial Booking.com booking because this establishment is not interested in offering a good rate to value your loyalty towards them. Rooms were clean, spacious and a comfortable bed. Hope that this review helps others.
Absolutely amazing! 😍 I arrived at the guest house and was greeted by the host Ms Zodwa, a genuinely kind and hospitable person. The rooms are overlooking the pool, everything is neat and clean, bathroom and bathroom towels and all appliances were also neat and clean. The guest house offers an extraordinary experience as each room opens directly to the garden so you do feel you're close to nature and the beautiful garden with its pool. The neighborhood is quiet and lovely. Special thanks to Ms Zodwa who made me feel right at home from the first minute I stepped in, she greeted me with a motherly welcome, gave tips on the closest supermarket, restaurant which is valuable for me as a foreigner. Breakfast was delicious, I stayed for 5 days. Great internet connection. 10/10, highly recommend.
I really enjoyed the stay at this guest house. The place was neat and tidy and is well maintained. The surroundings are very peaceful and it’s are to believe that it’s situated a stones throw away from the heart of Sandton. The breakfast was generous and freshly prepared to order each morning . The scrambled eggs were perfect. My suggestion to owners would be to invest in a small automatic coffee machine.
