Itinerary
The Church of the Holy Sepulchre is located in the Christian Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem. It is believed to contain the two holiest sites in Christianity: the site where Jesus was crucified and Jesus's empty tomb, where he is believed by Christians to have been buried and resurrected.
The Temple Mount is a hill in the Old City of Jerusalem that has been venerated as a holy site in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam for thousands of years
The Western Wall, the holiest place where Jews are permitted to pray, is an ancient limestone wall in the Old City of Jerusalem. The wall was originally erected as part of the expansion of the Second Jewish Temple begun by Herod the Great.
The Via Dolorosa is a processional route in the Old City of Jerusalem. It represents the path that Jesus would have taken, forced by the Roman soldiers, on the way to his crucifixion from the former Antonia Fortress to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
The Old City Souk, also known as the Arab Souq, Arabic Market or Suq El-Bazar, is a large bazaar in the Old City of Jerusalem

Great. The guide really knows his stuff, and we got a lot of information in the limited time that we have. My only small issue is that we did not spend enough time on certain parts of the itinerary, like the Via Dolorosa. But it's understandable given how there is just too much to cover in a short time. Overall the guide was very knowledgeable and I learned a lot about the places, and enough to go back there on my own as well.
Fantastic tour from the guide. I think his name was Ulinous or something v similar. Here’s my ref number to locate him. 1454171701 Prompt meet at The gates of Jaffa. Very good English. Small group of six. Two American couples, a Ukrainian young lady and myself. Went to all the places required to make this a memorable trip. Explained the layers of Jerusalem from a factual side with the religious side being brought in at stages. Lots of walking involved but there is no other way to get around this fantastic city. Two or three water/toilet breaks on the way round. Do it!
We had a very good day. Nimrod was very friendly and informative. He added a lot of value and perspective. We covered many of the key sites in the old town. He did not rush us and provided additional personal tips on Jerusalem
Uriel was an amazing guide. Very knowledgeable and covered a lot of material concisely. We learned a lot.
The trip was fantastic. The guide was excellent. Her knowledge was amazing. Really enjoyed. Lovely woman
Alex guided us through the Old City from the perspective of all the peoples who have lived there over time, including Jews, Christians, Arabs. He has a wonderful command of the long and complex history of this small piece of real estate and presented the information at a level where we could take in the most important aspects. Plus he did so in an enthusiastic, upbeat and entertaining manner. It was an extremely hot day and he was very mindful of our needs.
Great walking tour with Anat. Clearly an old hand, knowledgeable and charming. I would request her again.
Uriel was an amazing tour guide. I was traveling with 3 daughters (8,10,13) and he kept things interesting for them. Engaged them and had them looking for Easter eggs throughout the city. Having been to the old city before but never with a tour, I learned so much. He took us to hidden places and provided incredible history! One of the best tours I’ve ever taken. 1000% recommend!
Yoni was an excellent guide. He explained and showed us things in the Church of the Holy Sepulcher which we totally did not get from a guidebook. He also took us to the Kotel and up to the Temple Mount and gave a lot of helpful information but not too much on a hot day. Total length of tour was about four hours.
Ariel was an exceptional guide and made our Jerusalem tour truly memorable. He is professional, calm, attentive, and very knowledgeable. Throughout the tour, he shared fascinating historical details and insights that many guides often overlook, making the experience both educational and engaging. One aspect I particularly appreciated was how he used historical photographs, maps, and diagrams to help us better understand the sites and their significance. His explanations were clear, well-structured, and brought the history of Jerusalem to life. Ariel was also extremely considerate and helpful. He frequently offered to take photos for participants and suggested the best locations and angles, helping us create wonderful memories of the visit. What impressed me most was his genuine interest in understanding the group’s goals and interests. He adapted his explanations accordingly, ensuring that everyone felt included and that the tour met our expectations. The pace of the tour was excellent—never rushed, yet very comprehensive—allowing us enough time to appreciate each location and absorb the information being shared. This was one of the most emotional and enriching tours I have ever experienced. I highly recommend to anyone visiting Jerusalem and looking for a tour that combines deep knowledge, professionalism, and genuine care for the guests.. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
If you ever get the chance to experience the old city of Jerusalem, do it with Tania on this walking tour! She was wonderful, knowledgeable and easy to understand and explained and answered every question! We experienced so much more with her leading us through the streets and through the quarters! Come to Jerusalem and take this tour!!
The education that I learn from Anat was amazing. ****** Well structured and organized and we saw so much. Thank you ** Anat!!
Great tour. All the historical sites were fascinating. The guide was friendly, and knowledgeable. The walking was not as challenging as one might worry, Not too many steps. A few slight inclines, but there are plenty of places to find a seat as you listen to the guide's information. Only a few hours ( 3-4ish I think ), if time is an issue ( as opposed to the full day, 9 hour tours ).
We had the chance to spend 4 hours with Anat, a very good person with deep knowledge of Jerusalem. She was helpful, sharp, and truly interesting the whole time. She spoke equally to everyone in the group and kept it engaging throughout. I honestly can’t imagine doing this route alone. Highly recommended.
It was a great tour, guide was very knowledgeable. Saw all of the highlights, would highly recommend. Eat a big breakfast there is no lunch stop, not even a quick one.
We did the Old City of Jerusalem walking tour with Shahar Cohen. He was an excellent, knowledgeable guide who took us to a well-chosen set of sites. We learned a lot and enjoyed it thoroughly. We highly recommend the tour and Shahar.
Tanya, our guide, was very knowledgeable and provided a lot of depth and historical information about the areas that we explored. I definitely recommend this tour guide.
Shahar was our guide and he was excellent! You spend thousands of dollars to come here. Why in the world would you get a tour guide that is extremely intelligent, very humourous and very personable. I am a Christian and I have been in 5 continents and have taken so many tours. This is the absolutely best tour and best trip I have ever taken. To put the pieces together the way Shahar did was brilliant. What matters to me when I travel is,am I interested in the country? Region? Subject ? And above all, is the guide personable and can he relate what he knows in a diplomatic fashion and not offend other religions and denominations. He went well beyond and exceeded my expectations. Probably one of the best experiences of my life. 100 % recommend this young man. On the Christian side of the house, this is a must do event. There will probably be nothing compared to the experience and see where God walked, died and resurrected. ✝️ Matt Waters Tennessee
50 U$ per person for a walking tour that all places were free of chage? The guide got some 40 minutes late, there was nothing included, not even a bottle of water… something anyone ca do on foot and alone.
from start to finish, the tour was incredible. the guide Nimrod was very informative and is passionate about what he does. I took my niece and her boyfriend and all of us left impressed and having enjoyed a really good guided tour.
This was a great experience with a knowledgeable and kind guide. It was great to experience the Old City this way and our entire group seemed to enjoy it.
I had one of the best guided tours I ever had in Jerusalem, well explained, full of details and history references. I enjoyed it like a kid. We were able to learn quite a lot in only four hours to get a complete wide knowledge of the 3 religions inside the old city. Tania was a real master. Super recommended!
What a super informative and helpful way to discover Old Jerusalem! Our guide - Nimrod- was exceptional! As a former tourist guide in my early professional career, I can truly appreciate how knowledgeable, patient and considerate Nimrod was! The tour includes all the highlights of Old Jerusalem, leaving you wanting to continue the exploration on your own. One recommendation for Viator and Abraham Tours: improve the description of the tour and include what the actual tour visits: all the major sites, the different quarters, time for lunch and Turkish coffee, etc.
The tour guide was very good, funny and friendly. The whole tour was very educational and emotional. We would recommend it to everyone.
We did the free Old City walking tour. Our guide was excellent. At the end of the tour she gave us suggestions on where to eat and places to go. The tour is a good starting point.
I really enjoyed the free Old City tour of Jerusalem with Alex . He was entertaining, accessible and knowledgeable and sensitive to the group’s needs . I also went on the Mount of Olives tour with him in the afternoon - and found it really good . (10% discount on this tour after attending the free one !) Would heartily recommend !
We opted for the free walking tour to get a feel for the old town. Orna was an excellent guide, professional knowledgeable and interesting. She held our interest throughout and was able to answer all manner of questions in detail. It was evident she has vast knowledge of all of the different religions, regions or Israel and particularly Jerusalem. The tour lasted over 2.5hrs but it flew by and there was a stop for water and toilets. We all thoroughly enjoyed the walking tour and have no hesitation in recommending this tour.
This lady made our tour come alive , she had a head set and ear pieces for all of us , she has a gift for history/ story telling . The 4hrs whizzed by . If anyone gets the chance to book a tour ask for Orna she is a gem . Our group of 16 ladies totally loved her and would happily adopted her .
Top recommendation. I’d visited the Old City before but seeing with our expert guide Shahar made for an amazing new experience.
The free guided tour with Shahar of the Old City of Jerusalem was truly unforgettable! Shahar's enthusiasm and passion for the history of this fascinating melting pot of cultures and religions was truly addictive. I learned more during those 2 hours than I did from all the reading I tried to cram in before flying to Israel! I thoroughly recommend both the guided tour experience, and the wonderful Shahar, who is fun, entertaining and informative!
Alex was a great tour guide with great insight and stories about the history of the old city of Jerusalem
Shimon was such a knowledgeable guide and really communicated the holiness of each site. It was so wonderful to learn about Jerusalem’s significance to so many different people from different religions.
Hagar was a fantastic guide! She kept things entertaining and engaging and everyone thought she was awesome (we were a healthy sized group and multilingual but she handled us with ease). We learned lots about the old city of Jerusalem and appreciated the 8:30 start so we were done by the time the heat really set in. 10/10 best guide we had over the course of our trip.
I enjoyed Hagar’s candor about the Holy City and its history. Her story-telling and tongue-in-cheek comments kept me and the others engaged. I felt that the free walking tour Hagar led gave us a great overview of the quarters of the city. The length of the tour was the right amount to leave us with energy to do some additional exploration on our own. I highly recommend the 8:30am tour in order to see the city before it gets too hot!
Shahar is a brilliant tour guide. He was fun, friendly and extremely knowledgeable and was happy to answer loads of questions along the way. I'm very glad I chose this tour instead of just going to the sites alone. The sites, like the holy sepulchre and the dome of the rock were amazing to see by themselves but Shahar brought all of them their historical and religious context. It was fascinating to hear and challenged lots of my previous assumptions. I recommend. Thanks Shahar.
Very good introduction to the Old City and major monuments. The guide did a difficult job with a large group in a very crowded environment (e.g. in the church of the Holy Sepulchre). The best part was being taken into the Temple Mount and explained many of the important details. Nicely done and showed sensitivity to both sides of issues pertinent to holy sites in Jerusalem.
Alex was a fantastic tour guide. We had such a great experience, all due to Alex's great knowledge and expertise of the Old City and how to navigate through and get the best experience. Alex is a great storyteller and tied them into the sites we were visiting.
My bf and I were on the fence about a 4 hour walking tour but were SO glad we did it!! It changed our experience/appreciation for the Old City, which we had explored on our own a little bit the day before. We both thought Shahar was a fantastic tour guide. Extremely knowledgeable, well paced, and funny! As a teacher, I appreciated this very much. Super engaging, warm, and he always tried to find shaded areas to stop for the history lessons and background info, which was a plus! I recommend eating a big breakfast and packing snacks. While there are brief points to stop, you may not find what you want in the time given. Be prepared for a long but very informative/engaging day on your feet. My one complaint, and this isn’t on Shahar, is that there were two women in the group that were SO chatty it was difficult to focus. They got so ridiculous at one point I asked them to please keep it down, which they acknowledged but then continued to talk. Thankfully they left before the tour was over and it changed the experience! Always a possibility for this in a larger group so hope you get lucky with that. Enjoy!! Shahar is the best!
Did the free walking tour with our guode Alex who really brought the city alive. Great ecplore to parts we had not been to and enlightening us to placea we knew. Very open friendly and keen for us all to habe a good time.and learn something. One of the best tours I have done
This was just a delightful introduction to a city that ceases to amaze. Sure, we did end up revisiting a couple of the spots... just to have a bit more time. But this tour and our great guide gave us a wonderful overview of Jerusalem's highlights and most significant sites. Perfect for my daughters, ages 11 and 13. Thank you!
I must say, this was one of the best guided tours I've joined. Yoni, our guide, displayed exceptional skills in captivating the group's attention from start to finish. He provided us with relevant information and historical context at each location, all while injecting a delightful dose of humor. Thanks to this tour, I acquired a wealth of knowledge that I would not have attained on my own. If you're seeking to deepen your understanding of Jerusalem, I highly recommend joining this tour.
Excellent tour of the city. Really informative and a lot of fun. We really appreciated our guide Nimrod. He was excellent.
This was a quick but informative tour of Old Town Jerusalem. We visited the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, Western Wall, and Temple Mount. The guide, Yoni, shared a lot of great information and got us in the best position to enjoy all of the sights. I would definitely recommend this tour.
The tour was really good, the explanations of Shahar were interesting, full of small insights, were presented in a quite neutral way, and with humour. It was also nice from him to then offer to the interested people to go and eat something together in a small restaurant, out of the tourists’ rip-offs. :))
Pace and passion. What was great on the 4+ hr tour was our guide who was all about setting an active pace coupled with a passion for history, theology and politics! Providing the context of an introductory tour of place and people our guide did his best to push and include the group to look, smell, and think.
¡I got a wonderful experience! The guide spoke Hebrew and Arabic, he has a very interesting way of presenting the information, it was easy to digest and promoting to reflecting on what we were learning. I'm gonna get one more tour from Abraham Tours. Thank you :)
Well organised tour, Orna was so polite and explain to us all important things for the places that we visited. Recommend.
Hagar gave a great tour with in-depth useful history. Worth commenting that it ended up being more standing and listening rather than walking than expected.
Yoni Dinur was such an educational, fascinating and interesting tour guide. Not only was he able to navigate through all the crowds on Jerusalem Day, but he made us feel safe and comfortable the entire time. He answered all of our questions patiently and was able to shout even when the noise around us was overwhelming. Yoni, thanks for being mindful of the shade and bringing your wit and humor! The tour was absolutely worth every penny since we learned so much!
