Our experience was subpar. The food was often cold and honestly not very impressive. The pool very small and crowded compared to many of the Isrotel locations. Our first night the shower flooded because someone had stuffed bars of soap down the shower drainbahd replaced the floor grate. The air conditioning did not work the second night. The beds were comfortable and the rooms are decent size, but there was no view from the family rooms. Just the parking lot. There were lots of nickel and dime charges which took away from what should have been a premium experience. Management was unwilling to take responsibility for any of the lapses. They wanted to know why we were only reporting the AC on checkout when it happened the night before checkout. Not even an apology. They wanted email summaries which they would "investigate" and get back to us in the future. I generally give fairly positive reviews, but in this case it's not warranted. I've had far nicer experiences nearby for far less money. Again this was our experience and it could be it was a unicorn. But not for us
Close close close to everything. 15 -20 minute walk to the Kotel. Mamilla mall across the street for all sorts of shopping and dining. (Walk through the Mamilla mall to get to the Kotel.) Super market a bit further up the block. And slightly further to more resteraunts and boutique bars shops and music.. really close to everything. If there wasn't so much to visit here I would be more than tranquil staying within this quarter to half mile range my entire trip. The rooms are perfect for a week long stay. Go for the villas or suites if your going to stay longer or with more than 2 people. The staff is amazing all around. Service is above 5 stars. Included Breakfast can keep you satisfied till dinner time, so much to choose from. Beds and linens are luxurious and comfortable. Shabbos keys if needed, "iykyk". Shabbos elevator. All around 5 stars.
We just wrapped up our stay at The David Citadel Hotel and honestly, it was worth every single penny. If you are looking for absolute comfort, top-tier service, and a location that makes exploring Jerusalem incredibly easy, this is the place to be. The location is honestly unbeatable. It sits right across from the Mamilla Avenue shopping area, which is full of great cafes and shops. More importantly, it took us less than 10 minutes to walk right up to the Jaffa Gate to enter the Old City. Being able to easily head out for a morning walk through history and then step right back into a quiet, luxurious hotel room was amazing. Speaking of the rooms, ours was spectacular. It was incredibly spacious, immaculately clean, and the bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in. We had a balcony that looked right out toward the Old City walls, and sitting out there with a coffee in the morning watching the sun hit the stone was a huge highlight of the entire trip. The facilities are just as impressive. The pool area is beautiful—it's heated, so even when the breeze picked up, it was perfect for a relaxing swim with the old city walls in the background. And the breakfast buffet was on another level. The variety was massive, with fresh local cheeses, salads, hot shakshuka, and amazing pastries. What really stood out, though, was the staff. Everyone from the front desk to the bellhops and restaurant team went completely out of their way to be helpful, welcoming, and professional without feeling stuffy. It was a completely flawless experience and we would absolutely love to stay here again next time we are in Jerusalem.
I would have easily given the Citadel 5 stars. But there were maintenance issues with two of the four rooms that we booked. In rooms 604 (Alcove room) and 624, the showers were not functioning properly. In room 604 the shower did run hot enough to my liking and was only luke warm. In room 624 the shower head did not work at all and someone had to come and fix it. Otherwise this is a fantastic hotel. The rooms are very comfortable, spacy and luxurious. The old city view was splendid. The staff service was over the top. The food was good. And the location is the best. I will be happy to return, but hopefully the next time there will be no plumbing issues.
