We recently stayed at the American Colony Hotel in Jerusalem as part of a family celebration, and overall we had a very enjoyable experience. The hotel is beautiful, peaceful, and full of character. The historic building, vintage furnishings, and strong connection to the spirit of Jerusalem create a unique atmosphere. The hotel staff were exceptionally kind, welcoming, and attentive throughout our stay. We received warm and friendly service at every interaction, and it was clear that providing excellent hospitality is a priority for the team. The staff gladly accommodated our requests regarding room arrangements and the distribution of gift bags we had prepared for our guests. They also left additional bottles of water and chocolates in our rooms in the afternoon. We were particularly impressed by their ability to provide professional and courteous service to guests from different backgrounds and in multiple languages. The pool area is lovely, relaxing, and beautifully maintained. My son especially enjoyed the international atmosphere of the hotel and the fact that many staff members speak English. Alongside the many positive aspects of our stay, there were a few points that could be improved. The hotel is located close to a mosque, and we could clearly hear the call to prayer around 10:00 PM and again around 4:00 AM. Since the windows do not fully block outside noise, guests with light sleep may find this disruptive. A thoughtful solution could be to provide complimentary earplugs in the rooms for guests who may need them. In addition, the pillows were very soft. It would be wonderful if guests could choose between different pillow firmness options according to their personal preference. Finally, sorry to say that the sofa bed in our room was unfortunately quite uncomfortable. The springs could be felt and heard throughout the night, and my son woke up with back pain the next morning. Upgrading the sofa beds or providing an additional mattress topper could significantly improve comfort for families using them. Overall, the American Colony Hotel is a unique and charming property with outstanding service and with a few improvements regarding noise insulation and sleeping comfort, the experience could be truly exceptional.

Most amazing stay ever! We had five wonderful days at the hotel. We were treated like family, and the staff have big hearts. The hotel is a small and peaceful oasis in Jerusalem. The food was always delicious. We will definitely come back.
We spent a night here to celebrate my father’s birthday, and it was a truly flawless experience. The hotel is breathtaking, it captures those beautiful, 'Old Jerusalem' vibes perfectly while feeling incredibly luxurious. Our rooms were spacious and the service from the moment we arrived was top-notch. On our second day, we hosted a surprise party for my father in one of the hotel’s venues. The food was delicious, and the staff was so kind and proactive, making sure every detail was handled. They turned a special occasion into an unforgettable one. Huge thank you to the whole team!
I absolutely loved it. Even though it was in East Jerusalem, I felt very safe walking to the old city. The people there were just so wonderful to us and the food was great. The room that they gave us was absolutely gorgeous
I come to Jerusalem regularly and have stayed at a number of five star hotels including king David. The American Colony is far and away my favorite hotel to stay in. It’s a luxury boutique hotel. Unlike other luxury hotels it actually has personality and charm. In spades. The grounds are magical, with fruit trees and wisteria and a classic ottoman courtyard with trees and a fountain much like a Moroccan Riad. The rooms are stunning. Some of them have 12 foot ceilings and are huge. The service here is warm and personal, quite opposite the luxury hotels on the western side. The breakfast is lovely and can be personalized to your taste. The cellar bar is one of the coolest I’ve been to. In short: you shouldn’t think twice about trying to stay here. They fill up, especially in the high seasons but it is so worth it if you can get a room here.
