This tour was more than I imagined, I was first introduced to my guide named, Budi and driver, Elun. They were both very accommodating, giving me the chance to get refreshments before our long journey. The commute from Jakarta to Baduy Luar is quite a stretch but you will see endless swerving of roads into the hilltops, then you will reach the main village, meeting our Baduy Luar contact, Ian. It was then when we had to hike endless steps and paths through various smaller villages within a rainforest. While arduous, it was rewarding to see a community living a simple life from harvesting, carrying goods/materials from village to village, creating clothing by hand, or just living life amongst their family. Note: Be aware you will have to hike on steep rocks with a slippery surface. So buy shoes that will accommodate this type of terrain. Terima kasih banyak kepada Budi, Elun, dan Ian atas pengalaman luar biasa yang diberikan.
I must not have read the description and realized that it would be that much hiking. I'm not a hiker and at first I was regretting booking this adventure. But oh my goodness!!! Worth it!!! It was a great tour. My guide was very nice and knowledgeable. Plus he took good pictures which is always a plus. But the people were the true stars of this journey. The locals are incredible. I highly recommend this tour if you are in good physical health. My only concern was the driver who drove very wrecklessly. It was totally unsafe. But the guide was amazing and the trip was too
Be very careful of tje elevation, great and long incline dan decline with stairs. Not suitable for older people dan kids
Our guide Enok (hopefully I got this right) was amazing and very helpful. Beware of the hike though :D it is quite steep and tough in this weather. Surely not for everyone! We had a blast though. The village and nature are BEAUTIFUL!
This tour was a fascinating look into how the Baduy people, in the 21st century, still live a simple life as their ancestors did! Bring cash, as there will be opportunities to buy locally made handicrafts created in the villages, especially hand woven items. Please be aware that this excursion will involve HOURS of hiking through the rainforest, often on very hilly and slippery terrain. But you will be rewarded with images that will remain in your memory for a lifetime. My guide, Mohammed, was an excellent translator (no one in the village spoke English) and was a wealth of knowledge, answering all of my questions. And my driver (whose name escapes me) was excellent. Driving in Indonesia is chaotic at best, but he was calm and got us to the village and back to Jakarta safely. Recommended for anyone wanting a more "active" trip. I definitely got my exercise for the day on this tour!
Very interesting trip, well-organized, guide and driver were wonderful , attentive, punctual. We met many lovely people, and we would highly recommend this day trip from Jakarta.
The encounter with the Baduy guides was culturally really insightful. Thanks to our guide Borneo, who translated everything, we were also able to ask questions to them and further explore their culture. I suggest to bring cash for souvenirs and tips.
This was a great experience for a whole day - guide Borneo & driver Elun went out of their way to make me comfortable and ensure i had the best possible time. A lot of insight into the way of life of the Baduy, meeting many (mainly from the outer village) on the way and encountering their calm and friendly nature. It can get a bit sticky on the trail through the villages but it is definitely worth it and i can highly recommend it to anyone with a day to spare in Jakarta and wanting to see something special. Five Stars *****
Was a great tour and very unique where I recommend this to everyone. Ikhsan the driver was very polite and Rezky the tour guide is one of the best tour guides I have had before. He first asked some questions about me to understand what kind of person I am and then he quickly understood I was into cultural differences and unique experiences so he adapted the tour to my taste. We ate lunch at the village house, we walked into the rice fields and he explained a lot now just about the banduy but also about Indonesia as well. He would always ask if I was thirsty or tired and was very hospitable. He understands picture taking points a lot which was really great for me as I took a lot of videos.
Going to Baduy Village was well worth the climb. The people were interested and interesting, the culture shared was meaningful and even the shopping was good! Don’t forget to bring candy for the kids and to drink some fresh coconut water! The addition of the children playing traditional instruments (angklung) and being able to play along with them topped it all off!
Dear potential Badui tribe interest, A few days ago we joined a new but very experienced travel agency (name travel agency) for a one-day-trip to the Baduy tribe. One word to describe our day: amazing! We were picked up by our private driver, Risky. Who gave us immediately a warm and safe welcome. His company during the whole trip was a big plus! His mind was very sharp, he shared knowledge about other tribes, life in Indonesia, picked up our interests and went deep into it. And all in perfect English. Our guide Freddie, is the captain of the travel agency. Luckily both Risky and Freddie accompanied us, even though it was their holiday (end of Ramadan). Really appreciate it! We started the drive to the Baduy tribe with some good coffee. Either at Starbucks or at a local cafe. Freddie made sure we had enough water. During the drive, Freddie started to explain about the Baduy tribe, religions, advice about our trip in Indonesia, and we talked about life. We passed rice fields, nature and villages on the way. We also stopped at a local village to buy some delicious local snacks. To be honest, the drive itself was already much fun. When we arrived at the village close to the Baduy tribe, we bought some candy for the kids and noodles for the elderly, to give as a donation. This was not an obligation of course, you can decide yourself. We met the translator for the Baduy tribe and started our hike together. Be aware to sweat a lot because of the tropical weather and hike. So take a lot of water with you. If you want, you can take some extra clothing to change to feel more comfortable in dry clothing. Anyways, 5 minutes later you will sweat again ;) My husband is a man who is super interested to learn and could ask as many questions as he wanted with Freddie being patient to explain everything. He took us to places in the village with a beautiful view, to pass by houses and to have conversation with the inhabitants of the outer Baduy tribe. If you are luckily you will also see inhabitants from the inner Baduy tribe walking by. At a certain moment we arrived at one of the houses. Where a lady prepared the local food for us. What gave us comfort, was Freddie telling us it was not the full food experience. Since we ordered the trip the evening before and it was end of Ramadan, they couldn’t prepare the full ingredient meal. Even though it was super delicious, we appreciated the honesty of Freddie. There was time to ask questions to the lady of the baduy tribe. Freddie would be translating everything of course. It was super interesting to be in one of the houses with a local outer Baduy tribe inhabitant. Great experience! Then it was already time to head back. Even though we were tired because of the hike and heat, it was still enjoyable. Freddie had a great positive energy and was smiling and joking around a lot. Back in the village Risky was waiting for us in the car to bring us safely back. We were super tired and comfortable to take a nap in the car on the way back. Freddie and Risky brought us safely back to our hotel. I think now it’s not fully corrupted by tourism yet. Great day trip to do today. Also not necessary to do more research at other travel agencies, just take this one for one day or two-day trip. It’s all worth it! Thank you Freddie and Risky for this amazing experience. We will not forget it.
Baduy, a place I've long wanted to visit. In mid-2025 in July, finally after traveling from Manggarai - Brotherland - Rangkas Bitung - Aweh Rangkas Terminal - Ciboleger Terminal, for almost 5 hours I was in Baduy outside. Although a little lazy for walking, but eventually I walk too, even with a steady step. Since I did not know that the public transportation was closed at 12.30, the return from Baduy was a bit difficult, although finally with the help of the staff of the hotel there I was able to return again to Jakarta after the public transportation was no longer there.
In Sni the place is so beautiful natural. By using this tour we also get an inquiry about the indigenous village baduy that is anti-modrn.
Very mystical bnyak told the guide but the trip kta remained smooth and safe worth the tour in general. We hope to sni again.
Everything I've seen is so beautiful and natural. A very experienced guide. Next time we're going to sni again.
I like a very simple place like this baduy village that is unique from the many places I have ever visited.
A very enjoyable tour with the knowledge we learned from the life of the indigenous village of Baduy.
