I love visiting remote villages, this one is absolutely worth to see. You might have to expect a bit tough transport to go to the village, and do some physical exercices, but end up you will enjoy. Thanks my guide Irvan (Ivan), a young man who was really friendly and takes care of me.

Extremely interest and the guide Gibran was terrific. However, I highly recommend taking a car vs train. It costs more and well worth it. The train ride was fine but the car that took us from the train station to the tour was a disaster. The roads are terrible and the extremely dirty, old Suzuki Vav which didn't have enough gas to get us there made the drive unbearable and frankly unsafe - no seat belts either. That said, the hike was fantastic and the village was worth the hike. As an aside, they only take you to the outer village for tourist. I believe there are small tours that will take you to the inner village upon gaining advanced approval. But the hike is longer. Something to consider. I'd recommend going on a tour to Baduy and the tour company offers a more expensive trip by car which I recommend, but I cannot recommend the less expensive train / Suzuki van trip.
I had a great experience on this tour. My guide, Borneo, picked me up in the morning and took excellent care of me throughout the day. His English wasn’t perfect, but he still managed to translate everything clearly and provided interesting and funny commentary along the way. Visiting the tribe and their village was truly special—everyone was welcoming, smiling, and eager to show their traditions and activities. Overall, it was a super nice experience, and I definitely recommend this attraction to others.
They were punctual. My guide made me feel at ease right away and accommodated my every request, providing all the necessary information and helping me delve deeper into everything. The driver drove very well.
Ivan, our tour guide and Riswan, driver were very helpful and entertaining as we drive three hours to our tour. They are friendly and polite. Riswan drove well and smooth. We appreciate him for looking after everyone's safety when driving. Ivan filled in info on the Baduy culture, lifestyle, and customs. We appreciated the wonderful time and experience!
Visiting Baduy Luar is a unique experience to see the simple life of the Baduy people close to nature. I have visited Baduy Luar few times and also stayed there for one night. To visit Baduy Luar, you can join a tour package as well. It takes few hours from Jakarta to go there. Here are some things you need to pay attention to when visiting Baduy Luar, including respecting the customs of the Baduy community, not carrying weapons, musical instruments, alcohol or drugs, not littering, etc. In Baduy Luar, there is no electricity or internet, bathing in the river and cooking in a traditional kitchen. Usually we will stay at a resident's house, one of them is Kampung Gajeboh. They also usually walk barefoot and especially for people of Baduy Dalam, they are not allowed to ride in vehicles at all and can only walk barefoot to go everywhere. As for the reference, Baduy people (sometimes spelled as Badui or Kanekes) are an indigenous Sundanese ethnic group native to the southeastern part of Banten, specifically Lebak Regency, Banten, Indonesia. As it has been the case for hundreds of years, the main livelihood of the Kanekes people is rice farming. Apart from that, they also earn extra income from selling the fruits they gather from the jungle, such as durian and tamarind-plum, as well as wild honey. This will be a great exprerience back to the nature.
Thanks to the tour, I could deepen the understanding of Baduy’s cultures and appreciate Indonesia!! The guide was so kind, polite, and fun!! If you consider to take the trip, definitely you should take!!
Overall, I recommend this trip plan to trekking-lover, especially the solo traveller, since the traveller can be accompanied with the tour guide and indigenous guide. And more importantly, we can explore indigenous culture and enjoy the harmony of local community and nature conservation My tour guide Haidar is nice and patient. He helps me take a lot of photos to make my trip more enjoyable.
Great experience, we could see the real life of Baduy people and their costumes and learn about their history. The guide was perfect, very good English speaker and she answered all the questions we had. She also comunicate with some locals in local language when we need some aditional information.
This was truly an amazing "Quest" and I say that because you are going on a journey, whether or not you realize it. Baduy is in the jungle! So you'll need to trek through the jungle, going village to village, in the area that the tourists are allowed to go-- there is another area but you're not allowed in it if the Chief doesn't invite you. Along the way, you can guy things from the local merchants so it's a good time to get authentic Black Honey and Baduy Batik clothing. You'll ultimately land at two really beautiful locations that will let you see Baduy engineering at its finest and also if your body can take the weather and hike, you will get to the top of a mountain to reach the "hidden lake" where there is a peaceful resting spot at the water, the relax and catch a breeze. Now, if you did this tour, you should look for the version that allows you to see a very special show at the end of the hike, and end of the day. This one is beyond amazing and beautiful was you have have a unique show only for your party, with music, song and dance and if you may even be included in the show if you have the personality for it. If I were you, I'd call the tour owner and make sure that you have the right option for the tour to get that show because you'd be missing out on a truly unique experience you'll see nowhere else. If you're a true traveler, who likes to learn about cultures and people wherever you go, you definitely have to do this and eat the local cuisine while at it. I was exhausted at the end of the day, but 100% pleased and it was worth the money and the journey. Thank you to my guide, Saleh, the best guide around and to Ferdy for exposing this who experience to me. Call Ferdy and make sure you arrange this properly.
During the trip we saw exotic scenery, but after being in a very different village during the trip, we felt calm without the exhaust noise and concrete that squeezes in the city. At night, we think it's quite dark because there won't be any bright light from electricity. we experienced a special moment, accompanied only by the ancient and exotic civilization of this indigenous community. we could feel the serenity when we were in a village filled with craftsmen who were skilled at weaving, as if we were in the middle of a giant bamboo garden. Or you can frolic among the mossy rocks that emphasize the existence of the old village. Our guide as super, Driver excellent, Food is Ok.
What an awesome experience. Loved seeing the village and the different culture, intermingling with the locals and learning about the culture and history. We also did the local Indonesian music performance and it was so great. The whole day was everything I hoped for. Thank you!
Some very important tour have occurred in West Java, I wasn’t sure I was in somewhere far from the city, seeing so many differences with big cities, and the most important thing was the character of those which is different thinking and still maintaining extraordinary nature , and my guide was amazing in explaining what happened here by taking me to the forest hills where they live.
A day to remember in Indonesia . The Baduy villages are a unique experience .Here you can see how locals live in a very traditional and simple life. On the outer Baduy area you can meet people from the inner tribe. Trekking along the villages in the rain was a bit challenging at times (take non slippery shoes).
A must for anyone visiting Indonesia! Such beautiful greenery, interesting people, beautiful handmade sarongs & souvenirs. Here you can also see people from the inner tribe where life stood still. Beautiful bamboo house. A visit not to be missed! Our guide Ferdy was amazing & helpful all day long. Highly recommended both the day tour & the great Ferdy!
We enjoyed visiting the Baduy Villages and watching the woman weave the beautiful textiles and grind the rice. We sampled local fruit and visited one of the local huts. We also enjoyed the children and how excited they were to see us and take pictures. The village is remote and is an easy hike between each village. It is a little more challenging if it is rainy season due to rain, mud and slippery rocks. (Part of the adventure) Ferdy and Anton were a great guide and driver explaining the history and traditions of the Baduy tribal villages. This is a long day with a 3 hour drive from Jakarta however the landscape and villages are great to see.
Baduy tribe one of the different ini the world, they are living ini traditional of Indonesia, the tour was fantastic. Fitri, our guide was incredible. She showed us things that we have never picked up on our own. It got excellent explain in their weaving women. We saw of women bring the things back.

In daily life they wear just black clothes and they called sarung originated from their product as uniform, woman all do hard work walking together like their custom everyday. Man do to their farming also helped by wife. It was such worthed to do this trip in my life. The food was best local I never tried that, but not choice another exception you tried in my life. The guide, Ferdy was stunning also our drives was so excellent.

5/ It was a very special Trips, especially our tour guide Agung was very serious about the information of Baduy, to see that he did a lot of homework in advance, and carefully took care of us from beginning to end, we really enjoy this Trips and sincerely Recommendation everyone!
I finally got to visit the village of Badui, where I had a strong sense of unfinished business in Indonesia, where I spent four years four years ago. I love the hidden villages where the strange Sundanese people live, the clean and constantly updated living spaces that have inherited history, and the purity that lies in the simplicity. I was impressed.
