Clean room. Room amenities include dental kit, slippers, shampoo, soap, two bathrobes, 2-3 hangers. Love that the room separated the sink, the toilet bowl and the shower. One thing to note is that the shower has no door, but it’s such that the shower area is not visible from the bed (see picture). Service during check-in process could be improved - for example we were not informed about the wifi password, the checkout time and the hotel breakfast timing during check-in. There was also a 5.30AM run that occured during our stay and we were given a notice letter about the potential noise by a staff the night before, alongside a box of chocolate fudges for service recovery which we appreciated. Excellent location - walkable to ASHTA and coffee places like Arabica and Kurasu nearby. For hotel breakfast, I highly recommend ordering the nasi goreng or the mie goreng over the American breakfast. The local food tasted much better.

The Gunawarman Hotel is truly one of Jakarta’s hidden gems. From the moment you arrive, you’re welcomed with exceptional hospitality and attention to detail that makes you feel genuinely valued. The hotel’s elegant, European-inspired design gives it a unique boutique atmosphere that’s both luxurious and incredibly cozy. The rooms are beautifully decorated, impeccably clean, and offer every comfort you could ask for. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, making for a wonderful night’s sleep. The location is excellent, with many great restaurants, cafés, and shopping destinations just minutes away. Despite being in the heart of the city, the hotel feels peaceful and exclusive. A special mention goes to the staff, who were consistently friendly, professional, and always happy to help with anything we needed. Their genuine warmth made our stay even more memorable. The breakfast was outstanding, with a great selection of high-quality dishes and excellent coffee. Every detail, from the service to the ambiance, reflects the hotel’s commitment to excellence. If you’re looking for a stylish boutique hotel with outstanding service, beautiful interiors, and a fantastic location, The Gunawarman Hotel is an excellent choice. We would happily stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Jakarta.
-- Wifi is dead on the 3rd floor just right after I checked-in. I had to do my video call at the restaurant downstairs - IDR 500,000 deposit (cash) was not returned upon check-out. I texted the CS and sent the soft opy of the deposit receipt, the CS said I have to present the physical receipt. I'm now in Singapore writing this review and wonder how come I have to fly back to Jakarta and bring physical receipt to this hotel's reception take my own deposit money back!!!!! - This hotel is physically beautiful but doesn't have hospitality at all!!!
I stayed here for 4 nights with my husband for vacation. Had a lovely time! Despite our room was facing the street, the noise insulation is really good as most of the time, we wont hear the traffic much except for a few occasions when there was very loud motorcycles on the road and even then, the sound was greatly muffled. On friday night, could hear some music/band playing at the restaurant but again, very muffled and doesnt last that long. Location is perfect for us as we just wanted a chill, free-and-easy cafe hopping days and the area is full of beautiful cafes and restaurants. The surroundings are quite calm with beautiful walkable pathways amongst beautifully landscaped street. The hotel staff are attentive, as expected from small, boutique establishments. Menu quite limited and we were a bit disappointed over the pizza we ordered. We thought it’d be a classic itallian but turned out its a “french pizza” style with puff pastry as the base. Our bad as we didnt read the description in the menu. But for improvement, perhaps can also incorporate the classic itallian pizza in the menu as well? Otherwise, would definitely come again if we want a quiet getaway to jakarta and escape the sweltering humidity of KL 😁
I want to give a fair review to help other travellers that might be considering this hotel after staying for 4 nights. - From afar, the hotel looks great, with a really nice aesthetic. On closer inspection, there is some evident wear and tear but nothing that truly affects your stay. - Noise is a major issue, especially if you’re a light sleeper. The AC fan, even on low, is loud. The rooms facing the main road are affected by obscenely loud moped exhausts and traffic noise, even through the night. If there is an event on in the restaurant, you will hear (and feel) the music in your room, no matter what floor you are on. The staff did warn people the evening before and handed guests earplugs on the day but earplugs are unhelpful when you can feel the bass of the music through the floor and bed, even way past midnight. You may want to check with the hotel if they have any events planned before booking, especially if you’re staying over a weekend. - The rooms are mostly fine but lacking things like milk for coffee. The bed is very comfortable. The staff left a free box of delicious brownies in the room, which was a nice touch. - Regarding breakfast - there is no buffet. Instead, you pick an item from a small menu and order it, along with coffees and juices, with the waiting staff. The breakfast is well presented but the food quality is mediocre, which is unfortunate given the price. - Amenities: there are no other amenities. No gym. No pool. - Location: excellent. Walking distance to restaurants and shops. Overall, my stay was generally OK but I unfortunately wouldn’t choose to stay here again.
