LIKE STAYING IN A MUSEUM. If you want a charming find, literally an art hotel, Kemang Icon is that place. It feels like you are a celebrity in a giant room, curated with fun designs and artistic nooks. While it is a bit worn, to me that's part of the charm, like staying with a quirky aunt. The neighborhood is authentic too, with small street kiosks jostling with established restaurants.

This hotel clearly used to be a great place 10–15 years ago, but now it is in serious need of renovation and deep cleaning. At first glance, everything looks impressive in the photos — the design, the pool, the overall vibe. But once you actually arrive, you quickly realize that almost everything is worn out, dirty, and neglected. The room was far from clean: stained carpets, damaged furniture, visible dirt in corners and around the windows (see photos). It honestly feels like maintenance has been ignored for years. One of the biggest downsides for me was the bathroom setup — there is no proper door separating the toilet and shower area, which is extremely uncomfortable, especially when traveling as a couple. It felt awkward enough that I preferred using the lobby restroom instead. Breakfast is another weak point. It’s not a standard buffet or something you can choose from — they just bring you a fixed meal every day. While the food itself was actually tasty, having the exact same thing every morning gets repetitive very quickly. A bit of variety would make a big difference. On the positive side, the staff were genuinely great — very friendly, polite, and helpful. No complaints there at all. Overall, this place has potential and probably was amazing in the past, but right now it doesn’t match its appearance online. With proper renovation and cleaning, it could be a really good hotel again. Until then, it’s hard to recommend.
I am writing this review with genuine sadness because this hotel once felt like a second home to me. I have stayed here for over a month in the past and even brought team members with me, sometimes booking up to four rooms at once. It was always my first choice, which makes this experience even more disappointing. Unfortunately, during my most recent visit, the hotel’s condition had declined significantly. Cleanliness was a serious issue — there were ants in the bed, mosquitoes everywhere, and the room was clearly not properly maintained. The air conditioning was also not working, and I had to sleep with only a fan at night. What was particularly frustrating was being told it had been repaired when it clearly had not been, which felt dismissive of my concerns. The staff did try to help by offering room changes, which I appreciated, but the problems were widespread and did not improve. It became obvious that this was not an isolated issue but a general decline in the property. The restaurant experience was equally disappointing. The cutlery and glasses were dirty, and there was even hair in the fruit plate served to us. This raises serious concerns about hygiene standards. It is clear the staff are doing their best, but they lack proper support from the owners or management. The lack of investment is visible everywhere — since my last visit, it appears that nothing has been improved or maintained. Sadly, I had to shorten my stay and leave earlier than planned because the conditions were unacceptable. I truly hope the owners take this feedback seriously, as this hotel has great potential but currently feels neglected. I also have photographic evidence documenting these issues and am prepared to share it publicly if the accuracy of this review is questioned.
What a dumpster. How this hotel can be called a 5-star is beyond my imagination... Dirty floors, dirty bathroom, dirty and broken floor towel, air-conditioning that was to loud to use during the night also on the quiet mode. The bar did not serve any cocktails (at all) even though it was on the menu, they did not sell any glasses of wine, only entire bottles, i was asked if i wanted to order breakfast, no i said. At 7.45 the next morning they called me and woke me up to ask if i wanted breakfast as this is included... This, in my eyes, is a 1 or 2-star hotel. Can't believe they charged me 1 300 000 IDR for this crap, i can actually get an okay hotel in Europe for that money Hotel perhaps was nice 20 years ago but it has fallen deeply Friendly staff though and the the dinner i had was good.
The service provided by the staff is heartfelt and wonderful. However, entire building has become dilapidated which has lowered our satisfaction. In particular, as shown in the attached photo, the windows are not properly fixed and there are a few mosquitoes in the room. Although renovation is nessessary, the investment has not been done long time.
