Old hotel, but with still good amenities and price. You wouldn't expect for something flashy or new. From one room to the other, there might be variations. In the room that I stayed, the bathtub functions well, although there's some (paint?) stains at the bottom of the tub. One of the towels is a bit shreddy at the corner. And that's it... I have not tried the outdoor pool which is down there. Everything else is good, so no complaint!

Rarely one to leave a bad review, but here it goes. 1/5 Stars I checked into Hotel Kartika Chandra on 12 June 2026 at approximately 12:30 PM and ended up checking out the very same night because the experience was that disappointing. Upon entering the room, I was shocked by the level of cleanliness. The room was dirty and clearly not maintained to an acceptable standard. For a hotel that markets itself as a 4-star property, I expected much better. The air-conditioning was also weak and unable to cool the room adequately, making the stay uncomfortable throughout the evening. At around 10:00 PM, I approached the reception staff and politely requested assistance in informing housekeeping to send mineral water to my room. Rather than helping, I was simply told to call housekeeping myself. This was a basic guest request that could have been handled by the front desk in seconds. The response came across as dismissive and unhelpful. The overall experience fell far below expectations. I eventually decided not to stay the night and booked another nearby hotel instead, which was significantly cleaner, more comfortable, and provided a much more pleasant experience. What was even more disappointing was the complete lack of service recovery. When I raised my concerns and checked out that same night, there was no offer to inspect the room, no offer to change rooms, and no attempt whatsoever to rectify the situation or retain a dissatisfied guest. The issues were simply acknowledged and I was allowed to leave. Please buck up. If you are advertising yourselves as a 4-star hotel, then the cleanliness, facilities, and customer service should reflect that standard. Based on my experience, this was nowhere near a 4-star stay and was closer to a 1-star experience. I would not stay here again and cannot recommend this hotel to other travellers.
Advertised as a 4-star hotel, but I am guessing they only inherit the utilities and infrastructure of a 4-star facility rather than its entirety of its service. A cautious warning for people who are sensitive to mold as sighted throughout the room floor (and walls in some cases), as well as questionable air quality from AC, please do reconsider with the mentioned in mind. I hope this matter/feedback will be taken seriously and for the management to responsibly make necessary actions (i.e. refurbishments etc.). This was also passed down to one of the accommodative staffs on shift, Rizky, and I expect the message to be delivered with good kindness. The last thing we visitor would want to expect from a hospitality service provider is zero hospitality. It doesnt take a lot to maintain an ample condition of a room. Please do better.
There's no security/ staff at front door of hotels and the hotel's lobby looks dark & creepy. Only 1 staff (front desk) & no AC at hotel lobby. Pool only open on 8am - 3PM. But the staff was clean-up the room on a second day because we stayed more than 1 day
Hotel Kartika Chandra is one of those classic Jakarta hotels that still holds its charm despite its age. The vibe feels a bit old-school, but in a nostalgic, kinda elegant way. The location is honestly a big win — super strategic in South Jakarta, making it easy to get around the city. The rooms are spacious and fairly comfortable, though you can tell some parts could use a refresh. Still, everything is clean and functional, so no major complaints. The bed is comfy enough for a good night’s sleep, which is what really matters. Service-wise, the staff are friendly and helpful, giving that warm Indonesian hospitality that makes you feel welcome. Facilities like the pool and gym are decent, not super modern but still enjoyable. Breakfast is also pretty solid with a good mix of local and international options. Overall, it’s not the trendiest hotel, but it delivers a comfortable and convenient stay. Worth considering if you value location and space over luxury.
