Wonderful workshop with Betül, a welcoming teacher and master of this art. One of us has experience marbling, the other a novice, and we each are delighted with the papers we made, both combed patterns and traditional Turkish tulip and tree of life. An excellent workshop suitable for beginner and experienced artists. Friendly, knowledgeable artist with years of experience guided us through several exercises and explained everything perfectly. We have seen Ebru demonstrations at Turkish museum sites, and this was an authentic lesson, not one made simple for tourists. Many sheets were prepared and techniques explained, followed by tea on the rooftop and nice conversation. A great experience.

This was a highlight of my trip in Istanbul. The hosts were established artists and experts in their craft, but immensely approachable, funny, and kind. They did a great job showing several techniques and made me excited to try this art at home. The studio is beautiful and the perfect mix of chaotic/rough art space with homey, beautiful social space.

We had an amazing time at the workshop. It was such a calming activity in a beautiful atelier right in the heart of Istanbul. Betül and her husband, Ali, took wonderful care of us and taught us various marbling techniques. During the break, they served us delicious tea and invited us up to their terrace, which has the most magnificent view over the entire city. The whole experience was heartwarming and relaxing. Highly recommended—if I could give it 6 out of 5 stars, I definitely would!

We had a wonderful afternoon learning ebru art. My three teenagers loved the class, and we left with many pieces of artwork to decorate our home. Would book again next time we are in Istanbul!

This is this most fun and unique experience my family and I have shared while traveling! Betul is a very talented artist. She was very patient with our children (5&9) and they had so much fun painting. I am impressed by the pieces we made and looking forward to bringing them home as special souvenirs from our travels. Betul and her family were so kind and welcoming. The studio space is gorgeous with the most amazing view of the Bosphorus! If I am ever in Istanbul again I would absolutely do an art class with Betul!

What a wonderful learning opportunity. Betũl, our teacher, felt more like a long lost friend. We learned traditional techniques and were able to use these to make our own pieces of art. The atmosphere was very relaxing; no pressure. Betül was there to guide us through every step. At the end I felt so fulfilled and thrilled that I had created my own pieces to take home. I’d do it again next time I’m here!

Lovely private group instructional art class of Ebru, marble painting in art studio overlooking the Bosphorus. We started with tea on the balcony and beautiful views. We were then given a short lesson on the history of Ebru painting. We then were able to make several Ebru paintings under the guidance of the artists. The environment was warm and one of a kind. We are ages 40, 41, 73, 8, and 5.

This was so much fun! A great break from all the museums. They are so patient and teach you how to do this. You will have works of art to take home and amaze your friends!

Ali was an incredibly warm and friendly host, with excellent English and very good with my kids (aged 7-13). A fantastic, authentic experience with lots of brilliant artworks to take home. Our family agreed this was the best thing we’d done in Istanbul and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommended it!

I love a crafting class and this place was just around the corner from my hotel. A cozy studio with a great view and patient, generous instructors. Betül is ìstanbullu hospitality personified and a talented artist and teacher. She obviously loves her craft and sharing it with people. I honestly felt like I was hanging with a crafting friend I'd known forever. Thank you so much for a great afternoon!

Betül and Ali were fabulous hosts. So friendly and engaging. I was lucky enough to be in the workshop by myself and we had truly enjoyable afternoon chatting and laughing while I made attempts at "art". I had a blast; they are a wonderful couple and generous with their time.

This was so much fun. Betel is a master ebru and tile artist. She was so knowledgeable and kind. She spent a lot of time teaching me and my 6yo daughter the different techniques and guiding us as we made our own Ebru marbling art. The studio is also in a beautiful location. Such a fantastic activity and you come away with a unique, self-made souvenir. My daughter absolutely loved every second and was so proud of what she made!

We had a lovely afternoon painting with guidance from the lovely, talented, Betul. Betul is a gifted art teacher and a gracious host. She and her husband welcomed us into their beautiful studio with kindness. They are both deeply trained and knowledgable in the Turkish arts. We had so much fun marbling paper and making art. Plus, you get to spend time with a Turkish art studio - a great way to feel what life can be like in Turkey. We highly recommend doing this.

This was hands-down our favorite experience in Istanbul! Betül - the artist - was so kind, patient, hospitable and her art studio has stunning views. We are a hard crowd to please - one artist, one non-artist and a 6 year old and we ALL had so much fun and really enjoyed this Ebru art workshop. 10/10 recommend for artists, non-artists and kids!!!

Wonderful morning spent with this husband and wife team who educated us on marbling art technique and history. They were perfect with my children aged 7 and 9 showing the right balance between fun, encouragement, support and patience. We could not have asked for more and walked away with some wonderful designs to display at home, and many happy memories. The best experience we have had in Istanbul.

It's no wonder that the only rating they get is 5 stars. I did not know what to expect, and sat there smiling for over 2,5 hours. Ali is both a pleasure to be with and talk, as well as a great teacher. It was so fun, you feel you get better for each sheet. Bring a girlfriend, your family or just yourself like me. Best thing I've ever tried. Made the rest of my vacation great just looking back at it and being energized. Thank you so much Ali!

An absolutely amazing experience with Betul and her team. All ages loved this! Some of us made marble prints and some made journals. Betul was accommodating and patient with my oldest who is very particular about her art 🤣

My children (10 and 7- it was her birthday) and I did ebru painting with Betül and her husband Ali. It was a wonderful experience for all of us! A highlight of our trip to Türkiye. Ali and Betül have tons of patience and are very encouraging. My children were engaged and are very proud of the pieces they made. I’m very impressed with the results. I know this is one of the memories they will hold on to from this trip. My children told me this was a nice break from the “very old rocks” they’ve been looking at for weeks :D We’ll work on their appreciate for Turkish history, meanwhile they have earned an appreciation for Türkish art for which I give credit to Betül and Ali. I highly recommend this experience. Teşekkür ederim.

Great experience. I highly recommend to anyone on the fence. They show you the basics then you get to take over. There is no talent required. Your art will still be refrigerator worthy with their guidance. Very patient and amusing instruction and good hibiscus tea!

What a great experience! Highlight of our trip! We booked the Turkish Marbling class and it was a wonderful way to spend the afternoon. Our kids (4 and 6) loved learning how to make the designs and Betul and her husband were so helpful and kind with them. We each learned how to make 4 to 5 different design techniques, each unique! Best of all, you get to take your art home!

Together with my two friends, we shared a moment of transmission, precision, relaxation, and creative freedom with Betül hocam. Out of all the ebru classes, this was the best. You can go with your eyes closed — but we still recommend opening them, because the 360° view is breathtaking. People who love their craft and know it well. Thank you, Betül hocam.

This was a fantastic workshop suitable for everyone. Ali was a great teacher who explained things clearly and made it easy for you to create beautiful work. I loved how he explained the history behind the art as well. This was beyond my expectations and i would highly recommend it 😀

The paper marbling class was one of the highlights of our trip to Istanbul. Highly recommend as a great memory-making activity for families. My husband and I thought it was a fun experience and our 10 year-old son deemed it “really cool.” The instructor, Betul, was amazing and the staff was helpful and courteous.! I can’t wait to return home and have a few of our pieces framed. If you are looking for a unique experience in Istanbul, this traditional art making class is it.

We couldn't have had more fun making marble paper (Ebru). The children, aged 9 and 11, kept making masterpiece after masterpiece through out the time we were there. The location next to the Topkapi palace is perfect, as is the view from the top floor. Lovely couple gives expert and encouraging instruction. Highly recommended for all ages - no skill required. Great stress relief!

Our family had an incredible time with Betul and Ali. They were so knowledgeable, talented, friendly and patient with us. We made some awesome decorative papers, and we were surprised how calming and interesting and approachable the whole class was. Their studio is bright, spacious, and had the best terrace with views of the Bosphorous. We highly recommend taking a class here!

We had an AMAZING experience! Our instructor Betul was the best teacher, very patient and informative and gave us opportunities to make plenty of art. All of our marbling papers came out wonderfully. I 1000% recommend this workshop for everyone who want an wonderful opportunity and learn a new craft.

As a frequent traveler, this is one of the best experiences I’ve ever enjoyed. Yes, yes we learned about Marbling. However, more importantly my daughter and I made memories, and that is the true meaning of travel and exploring this planet.

This workshop is excellent value for money. It is educational and fun! The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. The studio space also has a beautiful view of the bosphorus. I would definitely recommend you take the time do this workshop!

I don't know where to start because this should really have 10 stars. The atmosphere is amazing, you are welcomed in a 100 year old traditional Turkish home, the last 2 floors are the art studio and the terrace, both graceful and furnished with superb taste. You also get a magnificent wiev on Tokpapi palace and the bosphorous Channel. You are greeted with tea of course and then you get a full immersion in the Ebru art... We were able to paint at least 7/8 sheets! We literally could not stop. Our teacher (who owns the place) is a lovely woman with lots of patience, she went above and beyond to make my mom's birthday unforgettable! We will proudly show our art to friends and family and give the paintings away as Xmas gifts. This is a memory I will always cherish. Thank you so so much 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This art session was a once in a lifetime chance to learn from art experts in creating unique works of art using an extraordinary form of color transfer. It was fun for all participants and we each created 3 to 4 works of art that we can take home. If you're ever in the old section of Istanbul make arrangements to do this activity. Be prepared to be amazed.

What a great way to spend a relaxing afternoon in Istanbul with our awesome teachers Betül and Ali. We learned so many techniques to marble paper and our teachers were friendly and helpful. We would have liked to spend the whole week taking classes from Betül! The location is amazing and after we went to pick up our paper, Ali showed us the Istanbul skyline from the top floor terrace while we enjoyed a sunny day. Make sure you leave some time in your Istanbul itinerary for a peaceful afternoon of making art! Thank you Betül and Ali for a perfect afternoon!

My family and I (including kids aged 8 and 10) spent a few hours with another family in Ali and Betul’s studio creating beautiful art and it was one of our most enjoyable experiences of our 2 weeks in Turkey. Ali and Betul are patient and warm and made us feel welcome the entire time, even though we arrived late and clearly stayed well beyond the time allocated. I highly, highly recommend this experience to others looking to do something slightly off the usual tourist path - and I’d do it again with or without kids, everyone really enjoyed it.

Run by a family of artists and designers who have dedicated their talents to sharing the traditional art of marbling paper (erbu), this is a soul enriching experience that should not be missed. Betül and Ali are warm and patient teachers, and provide excellent instruction on the tools and techniques of this beautiful traditional art. The studio is charming, well equipped, and easy to find. My afternoon with them is truly one of my most memorable experiences, and I am grateful for the chance to learn from two passionate practitioners whom I now count as friends.

This was an incredibly fun and rewarding experience, to learn from and experiment with Ebru, the paper marbling techniques that the talented and gracious artists, Betul and her husband, Ali, shared with my husband and me. It was amazing to see the designs unfold before our eyes, and satisfying to know that we had a hand in creating some of these pieces, under the helpful and ever-patient tutelage of Betul and Ali! The location is extremely convenient if you are visiting the beautiful Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque. The designs take 2-3 hours to dry (or you can pick them up the next day, too)--so this gave us a great reason to have an early dinner at a rooftop restaurant near the Hagia Sophia, then pick up our scrolled artwork (we had brought a small cardboard tube with us), and share our gratitude with Betul and Ali for a unique and memorable experience in gorgeous Istanbul.

Such an awesome experience! Ali is super knowledgeable, kind and patient with his instruction. I made several pages that I'm going to frame and several more that I already have ideas how to use in other projects. A beautiful way to get in touch with Turkish culture that's currently being used but is grounded in history.

The workshop area is Cosy and colourful, there’s pretty artwork up all around. The refreshments were delicious, and the couple who run the business are friendly, wonderful people. It’s definitely worth visiting if going to Turkey, Istanbul.
