Traditional Turkish Bath Experience In Istanbul

Sadly, my experience here was hugely underwhelming and far from what I had hoped for — especially given the price. From the start, the level of professionalism was disappointing. Despite booking well in advance, it felt like they weren’t expecting me. My ticket was questioned on arrival, and I was even asked to provide proof of payment. There was no warm welcome — in fact, it felt as though I was inconveniencing them just by showing up. The staff were unprepared when I arrived, with the manager opening up the baths in front of me and then leaving me waiting as the rest of the team slowly arrived after my scheduled start time. I was eventually shown to the changing area and told to sit in the salt room, where I could hear an argument happening between the manager and staff. I then spent some time in the sauna, followed by the steam room, which hadn’t even been turned on before I entered — it took around 10 minutes for any steam to appear. When I was taken to the Turkish bath area, the whole experience felt rushed and impersonal. There was very little conversation or explanation of what to expect, no check-ins to see if I was comfortable, and an overall sense that the staff were simply annoyed I was there. To make matters worse, the experience ended abruptly with me being told the kitchen was closed, so I couldn’t have the Turkish tea that was meant to be included. I left without so much as a goodbye from anyone. Overall, this was a deeply disappointing visit. What should have been a relaxing and memorable experience felt disorganised, unwelcoming, and not at all worth the cost.

I was reluctant to go to Turkish Bath but was talked into it by my cousin who was there with me . Great experience I would highly recommend !

Amazing experience, from the pickup till the actual spa! Everything went so smoothly and effortlessly from our side, because everything was organized so well. The hammam was so relaxing and heavenly!! We took the scrubbing and foaming and we got more than we expected! (Like tea, small massage during it, clay facemasks and little packages including scrubbing mitten and cleansing soap to bring home included in the price, and even the transportation was included) The whole experience was so worth the money and I would definitely go again.

The Turkish bath experience was so wonderful. The salt room, sauna, steam room and body scrub were amazing. The staff was friendly and the environment was clean and comfortable. If you’re in Istanbul you must do this Turkish bath experience!

Very relaxing and calming experience! Pushpa and Suraj were both exceptional. My husband and I had our session together, would recommend it to couples travelling to Istanbul together!

Loved the service at Celal Sultan Hote in Istanbull. Staff were friendly and always ready to answer questions and help. They go over what is expected of them. Location is also great - just a couple of blocks away from Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, and Cistern.

We were sold a mid range experience and received the lower. Staff told us it was the tour operator who told them to do that and then staff pushed an upsell that would have cost us an additional 100 euro. We also wanted a traditional Turkish experience and it wasn’t “traditional”.

We truly had a wonderful experience. It might not have been the fanciest or most beautiful Hamam, but it was absolutely fantastic. Everything was very authentic, professional and enjoyable. I would recommend everyone visiting Istanbul to do this and I would gladly go again!

It was a nice experience in the center of Istanbul. If you are tired of sightseeing, it is a good option to book this activity. All of staff can speak English, so you don’t have to worry about the language problem.

After days of travel and tons of walking, hiking and swimming while exploring Greece and Turkey was the perfect way to relax and recharge our bodies for the rest of our vacation. My husband and I are on a cruise for part of our travel this was 1000x better and well worth the $ compared to spa services on the cruise ship! This is where it’s at, we were still able explore more of Istanbul the same day but the Turkish Bath was the highlight of the day!

The staff were very friendly, professional and respectful. There are many stages to the overall experience and are all conducted in a safe, clean and welcoming environment by your assigned staff member. Hard to describe how relaxed and comfortable we felt at the end of the almost 2 hour visit. Highly recommended!!

Would highly recommend this to anyone . A really beautiful salon , and the whole experience was relaxing , fun , and considering I’m not into massages , but I loved everything about this

I went to hammam several times in different cities. This one was the best one. It is such a different experience compared with other countries.

Looking forward to this but as soon as we arrived it was awful. We went down the stairs to be met by workmen, wires everywhere. Eventually we went to the changing room which was in the middle of getting sorted, tiles just been put up !!! Went to the sauna, no one told us the plan for our afternoon, would never recommend it to anyone 😡

It was advertised as 2 hours Hammam with oil massage and face mask but only received less than 1 hour of basic Turkish bath experience. Both the Hammam service provider and local tour operator Tourmania refused to resolve the matter on the spot. Please do not book this!

It was amazing treatment. I liked hammam and therapist Aylin. She was kind and professional. Also after hammam resting place was nice. Everyone was kind. Ms. Betul from reception took care of us. They offered us after hammam tea which is special for them. It was very nice too.
