Erik was a wonderful guide. The tour was well paced and the tasting portions were generous without being too filling. It was paced well so you had plenty of rest spots at strategic times on the tour. We tried many wonderful things we would never otherwise have tried. If you can, take this tour!
An excellent tour by Erol thank you!
Tolga Kinas was excellent and very knowledgeable. The food was great and he picked the places where locals eat!!! Will recommend him to all my friends coming to Istanbul
The experience was interesting. Our guide knew the area well. Although the guide was very friendly and was well versed in its history, I didn't feel a strong connection with him. For me, I think chemistry between a guide, as well as chemistry with the group is just as important.
We joined a small group with couples from UK and USA and were shown some amazing local restaurants in the Karakoy district by Erol. We could not have wished for a better guide. Erol was very knowledgeable on not only the food but Turkey as a whole and we learnt so much with many different foods and drinks. Would definitely recommend this tour and make sure you get Erol.
This is a great tour if you are ever visiting Istanbul. Our host, Eroyl was awesome. He made sure we sampled the best and always explained about the different foods.
Great breakfast food tour from Erol over to Kadikoy He is very friendly and knowledgeable on the history or Istanbul and Turkey, and also gave us interesting insights into turkish everyday eating traditions for breakfast, coffee and lunch - all our food stops were very interesting and tasty. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to get a more immersive experience of local food and history.
Erol was a great guide! He showed us around, explained all about the traditional tastes and flavours. It was great to get to know Turkey’s culture through its food and cuisine. Erol gave us good recommendations and we were lucky to have a guide like him!
Erol Utgun our tour guide took us on an amazing tour that quickly gave us a better understanding of Istanbul by getting us better acquainted with its amazing culinary offerings. The streets of Istanbul are filled with interesting little restaurants, coffee, candy, spice souvenir shops but at first it can all feel a little overwhelming. Our Guide Erol Utgun carefully curated the tour allowing us to experience a wide variety of food and drink and gave us Insite to their origins in Turkish culture and their place in today's food scene. Erol not only gave us a feel for the food he answered all of our touristic questions and was a great conversationalist. I and all of my travelling companions give this tour and this tour guide our strongest recommendation, 10+ star review!
Earl provided an excellant itenary of local foods and history with cultural points. We enjoyed the tour very much! Would love to do again.
Our family had a walking food tour today with Erol, he was a fantastic guide! Very knowledgeable about the area, the history, and the food of the area.
This was an amazing walking tour with Erol who was very informative and knowledgeable on all things food and Istanbul. We had 4 in our group and we were all from Australia and it was just the right size. The places, restaurants and food were all outstanding and the history as explained by Erol just added to the experience. The 4hrs flew and we never stopped eating, Erol took us to places that we would probably never have found or knew what they were about but now we do and we will certainly be exploring more of this wonderful city and these hidden gems. Highly recommend this tour and if you are lucky enough you will have Erol as your tour guide, thanks Erol for a wonderful morning walking through your part of Istanbul!!!
Erol spent the half day with us- it was a delight for him to share Turkish foods and drinks. He is knowledgeable, personal, and funny! He was a wealth of information- we were four seniors and happy to walk and visit with Erol- so fun!
What a great experience! We were removed from the hussle and bustle and overcrowded areas and taken to where the locals eat and shop. Erol our personal guide was amazing and shared so much history and background of the different districts, the food, Turkish coffee, the comfort foods he grew up with. He spent an extra hour with us showing us additional sites. I would highly recommend this tour and if you can request Erol, you’ll be assured a wonderful time!
Erol was a delight. His knowledge of Turkish food and culture was extensive and his commentary was very entertaining. I highly recommend this tour and having Erol as a guide!
We tried a variety of delicious food with a great jost who shared history, food knowledge and personal stories to make it a fun experience.
Erol was amazing. He Gave great information and took his time and explained the history and background of each food and drink. Loved that we got to enjoy local non tourist areas with local flavor.
Erol was our guide. He was so patience and informative with our group of 6. Every stop was an amazing experience. I love the variety of tastings he took us to. He was friendly and made our tour the best time.
The most amazing tour on our trip. It exceeded our expectations. We stopped by only local small shops to get authentic local foods. Our guide Erol was friendly and very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this to anyone that is interested in the real foods and history of Istanbul.
We had a great time with Erol. We got an inside taste of Turkey along with explanations about the different styles of food and history. He was very knowledgeable and really helped us navigate the differences between tourist traps and authentic cuisine. Highly recommend. 5 stars
Erol was a terrific guide. He showed us a huge variety of local shops and foods, and gave us lots of background on the history of Istanbul and Turkish food. He also shared with us a little about his life in Turkey- a very personable guide. Thanks Erol!
Erol was absolutely fantastic! We were so excited to eat our way through Instanbul and Erol was the perfect person to spend the day with. He was incredibly knowledgeable, knew all the best, local spots and catered to our diverse food needs - a picky vegetarian, an enthusiast carnivore and an adventurous 11-year-old vegetarian. We had the best time together learning, eating and discovering this fantastic new city.
Erol was such a fantastic tour guide. He is very knowledgeable, very polite. The tour was wonderful and it's definitely worth it. It's a must do if you are in Istanbul and please make sure you request Erol as your guide.
The food tour in Istanbul was amazing. Super interesting discoveries, and not only culinary discoveries. This city has many secrets and Erol was the best guide to reveal them ! I strongly recommend it 👌
We had a wonderful tour with Erol Utgun of the Tematique company. He is very personable and we tasted many delicious Turkey dishes!
Erol was a fantastic guide! We enjoyed every moment of the tour. Wonderful experience and I would very much recommend this!
Fantastic tour with Erol - learnt so much about Turkish food and culture - perfect way to start our stay in Istanbul - Thank you
Delicious and perfect. Thanks Erol!! Learned so much .. highly recommend.. if you want to learn about food .. try this tour! Excellent
Very interesting and informative. Myrgot was a friendly and interesting host. He was happy to detail the different foods as well as cover other interesting facts about Istanbul. Ate way too much but it was a great tour
Erol’s tour was a spectacular experience of both authentic culinary delight alongside a rich learning of local Turkish culture and life. If you are in Istanbul you must do this tour- you will not find these incredible meals without the great insider knowledge that Erol provides!
Erol was the most amazing guide. The tour was advertised as been for small groups only, but we got lucky enough to be the only two on the tour. We started on the European side, where we wandered through the spice market and then ate börek at a small cafe. We then took the ferry to the Asian side, where we spent most of time. Wandering through Kadikoy we tried Turkish coffee, balli yogurt, pickled vegetables, menemen, kokoretto, lahmacun and katmer. Most of these were foods I wouldn’t have known to try, and all were delicious. By no means should you have breakfast before going on this tour! Often times the food was a jumping off point for learning about the history and culture of Istanbul and Türkiye. I can’t believe how much we learned in four and a half hours.
This is an amazing experience that I can’t recommend enough. It was my first time doing a culinary walking tour and now I want to do one in every city I visit. Erol was fantastic, his knowledge of the city made this a complete experience, not only for the food but also the history, the colors and the magic of the city. We will come back to Istanbul and hopefully we’ll have Erol again to guide us again!
Elif was an amazing food and Istanbul history guide! Each food selection was delicious, unique and she modified for one vegetarian member of our group. Delightful, intelligent and thoughtful guide!
What a brilliant start to our Istanbul trip. 6 of us (ladies of a certain age) met Gamze who was the friendliest guide ever, lots of laughs alongside learning interesting historic facts enroute, whilst enjoying a wide variety of tasty foods, both savoury and sweet. Absolutely recommend Gamze, I’m sure she’d be great fun on any trip! Fantastic.
Erol was a wonderful tour guide, there was only 2 of us so it was like a private tour. Great food and variety.
Erol Utgun was a fantastic tour guide. He did not only share taste experiences with us, but also life experiences living in Turkey! Excellent tour and fabulous food tasted!
This tour is a must do in Istanbul, you get to sample a great selection of local food in traditional Turkish places,on both sides of the Bosphorus, we started in Fatih for a magnificent Turkish breakfast and then traveled to Kadikoy on the Asian side by ferry.
