Omer was a lovely guide, knowledgeable, excellent English, and great at tailoring the experience and pace to our group. The four of us (two couples) were technically booked for the small group tour but with no one else booked that day (a Monday morning) we effectively got the private option. Starting early really helped us skip the worst of the crowds (although we got a taste of it as the day went on), and the palace itself is so large with so much history having a guide really helped add context and human touches to the experience. A delightful day in a delightful place, highly recommended.

Itinerary
This is the the palace which was built in 1461 and used until 1850s as the residental and parliment house of the empire. The logest palace used by the Ottoman empire. The palace is devided in two sectios as Harem and Selamlık. Selamlık the men and Harem the female section ofthe palace. Your guide will take you inside with the skipping line priorty and will share the history and the stories about the Sultans and his concubines, the polictics, the high and the low period of the empire.
Step beyond the grand courtyards of Topkapı Palace and discover the fascinating Harem, the most private and mysterious part of the Ottoman Empire. Far more than the sultan’s residence, the Harem was a self-contained world where the royal family lived, influential women shaped imperial politics, and future rulers were raised. As you explore its beautifully decorated chambers, elegant courtyards, and intricate İznik tilework, your expert guide will reveal the true stories behind the legends. Learn about the power of the Valide Sultan, the daily lives of the concubines, palace traditions, and the complex hierarchy that governed this hidden world. This immersive visit offers a deeper understanding of Ottoman court life beyond the myths.
This is the oldest church built in Istanbul in 4 century A.D.The only church which wasn't converted to a mosque but used as the arsenal of the janiseries ( the guards of the palace). Later used as the first archeology museum of Ottoman Empire and now a museum.

Our guide Karacebeyhan was very friendly and his explanations of historic developements were very profound and with many details. He did so in a very interesting and lively manner so the 3 hour tour passed allmost too fast. Thank you very much Karacebeyhan!
He's a very good guide, we have time enough to see everything we want, never hurried up us, a lot of interesting explanations about Topkaki and turkish civilization
Our guide Omer made this tour truly special for us. He was very knowledgeable, gave us not only historical facts, but interesting stories related to the tour. He was kind, patient and friendly. We learned so much from him. The palace is huge, and for the best experience, I recommend taking a guided tour. If you can request Omer, you will be in good hands.
We had a great time. We booked our trip through the Trip Advisor. Our guide REHBER OMER KANAZC was a wonderful person. He was very informative, knowledgeable and professional. We had a great experience. Had alot of fun and lots to learn.
Our experience honestly couldn’t have been better! Omer guided us through Topkapi Palace, the Harem, the Eunuch’s quarters, and Hagia Irene. As history buffs, we were completely drawn in by how much he knew and the way he shared it. He didn’t just list facts, he told stories, added context and details, and made everything so much more interesting. His sense of humor and easygoing personality made the whole tour even more enjoyable. We could tell Omer is someone who genuinely loves what he does. We loved everything about Topkapi Palace and felt this tour was worth every penny.
This was my second tour with Omer. We had such a good time on our first tour that I was happy to book another with him a couple days later. He does a great job leading the group and answer all of your questions. It was well worth it.
This was my first time visiting Topkapi palace. I had been to Istanbul 6 times and have always wanted to see this place. Our guide Omer was very knowledgeable and an amazing guide! Thank you for showing us this beautiful palace!
i joined this tour recommended on friend our guide knowable he was very knowledgeable talkative and funny guy we felt soul of istanbul with him see you next time for next tour thank you mr.sali̇h
The tour guide was excellent. He was knowledgeable, friendly, his English was phenomenal. I could not have asked for a better experience.
Omer, the guide shared lots of fascinating knowledge about the Topaki palace and the world of the Sultans and the Ottoman Empire. The tour provides a window into the everyday world of the sultans’ household. Was really worthwhile.
Our guide Omer was wonderful. He was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the palace and the sultans and the lives they lived. His English was very good so he was easy to understand and communicate with. We enjoyed his many stories about the workings of the palace.
Our visit to Topkapi Palace was wonderful, we totally recommend visiting the palace with a guide. We had a small group (6 people) and our guide, Omar, was great - knowledgeable, with a lovely energy and perfect pace. Do not hesitate to book with him!
Its 300tl more to visit the hareem but you have to do this. It is truely extradinary. It is also a lot quieter than the rest of the palace. The tiling, the cobbles the windows and the eunochs. A must see.
You could not have asked for a better tour of the palace. Our guide took us through the entire complex explaining everything we were seeing and gave us a flavor of what life was like in that time. He also was able to take us to the areas that normally get busy before the crowds got there. Since we were the only ones on the tour he was kind enough to help us get a transportation card so we could use the tram system. He was also kind enough to help some other confused tourist having trouble with the machines. He then took us to a local eatery off the main road that had good food. He also showed us what other food places have and explained what was in the dishes. He also gave us tips on when to go to the Blue Mosque and Haggai Sophia to avoid some of the crowds. The entire experience was everything we could have hoped for and more. After the tour we felt very comfortable to explore on our own. I highly recommend this tour and these guides.
I would love to be able to rate this activity, but I am afraid I cannot. I can however rate my terrible experience with My Local Guide Istanbul: I excitedly booked this guided tour of Topkapi palace and its harem on a Thursday, scheduled for the following Monday at 9AM, and organized my whole day around it as it was supposed to be 3 hours long. However, I had the misfortune to receive a Whatsapp message from My Local Guide on Sunday evening at 10:40 PM Istanbul time, cancelling my tour because they did not have enough people who signed up at that time. It was incredibly unprofessional of them to inform me that late. So I could not even look for an alternative anymore. If I had been even informed that this was a possibility, I would not have booked my visit through this tour operator or I would have at least anticipated a plan B. I really do not recommend My Local Guide Istanbul for your activities if you want a peace of mind, because you will have no guarantee that they will honor your reservation. And all you will get is a poor excuse of a "Sorry" message on Whatsapp shortly before your activity.
