Seamless experience right from booking. We spent an hour or so at the archeological site and then into town to see the horse donated to Çanakkale from the movie. Our guide Serhat (I hope that’s right), was great, very knowledgeable. Definitely recommend this if you are into exploring and learning about ancient cities.

Without a doubt Troy is the most famous city of the ancient world, capital of a land of myths and legends of heroes and Gods and a land that this tour can take you to. After the lunch in Eceabat enjoy a lovely ferry ride across the Dardanelles to Canakkale. During the tour your guide will explain the mythology surrounding Troy, as well as the history and discoveries of the archaeological excavations from its discovery by Heinrich Schliemann in the 1870s to the presentday. Nine cities have been discovered built one on top of the other dating back to before 3500 BC, with the city made famous by Homer in his book the Iliad describing the ten year war being just one of the layered settlements. Not only will you see the still impressive defensive walls of the ancient city and learn the story of the Trojan War, but you will also be able to walk past the ruins of everyday houses dating back more than 3000 years. Having a look at the Hollywood horse from the movie ferry ride back to Eceabat

Well worth the 4 hour drive each way and the vehicle was comfortable . Be sure to check email, spam, text and WhatsApp for updates the night before. ‘Sam’ our guide was great!
I really enjoyed this tour. The guide was very knowledgeable, site was amazing as was the countryside. Yes, it was a long day but well worth it. I highly recommend this tour.
Long journey but overall a very smooth trip from start to finish. The ruins of Troy are much more fascinating than I initially thought and Serhat was an amazing guide.
This one day excursion to the ruins of Troy was a amazing experience. Our guide Serhat was phenomenal. Not only very knowledgeable about the history of Troy and the region, but a very entertaining personality. I hih=ghly recommend this tour.
The guide was excellent, explaining a very complex site clearly, with intelligence, humour, patience and a clear love of his subject. I was very impressed with the smooth running and obvious concern for each and every guest. As an older person I very much appreciated that. The group was exceptionlly nice too.
Excellent tour and guide. Loved it.
The Troy day tour was my favorite part of our trip to Türkiye. Based all the way in Eceabat, Crowded House Tours picked me up directly from my hotel. This tour allowed me to get out of the city and visit the countryside Eceabat and Canakkale’ province. Beautiful landscape. The entire staff was professional and exceptional, from the front office coordinating my booking and responding to my inquiries (thank you Ramazan!), the kind drivers who drove long hours so we could get to our destinations safely and smoothly on time, to our wonderful tour guide, Serat, who was very accommodating to all of us, knowledgeable and equipped with historical information. The three course lunch provided at a local restaurant in Eceabat was delicious. Sailing the Dardanelles on the ferry was an added plus having read about this fabled waterway in history books and in mythology (Hellespont). I would definitely book with Crowded House again.
This was a good tour but a very long day. They picked me up at my hotel at 6:30am and we didn’t return until 9:00pm. Burac was our guide and he was wonderful and so knowledgeable about the history of Troy and archeology. The van makes a 30 minute stop each way for bathroom and food. We also had lunch at the port before boarding the ferry. It takes about 3 1/2 hours back and forth from Istanbul. After lunch you board the ferry to reach the Asian side. About 30 minute ride. Then you go to the ruins of Troy and see all the ancient ruins. It is not very much to see. Much has deteriorated after many years. Our guide had pictures to show at each site of what it used to look like and he explained the history. There is a lot of walking up and down stairs. On the ferry ride you pass Gallipoli and the flags, memorial site and the army barracks so that was interesting too.
Impressively coordinated day trip from Istanbul. Barac, our guide, was both entertaining and informative.
Everything was well planned, and there was clear communication throughout. Our tour guide was really great and explained everything in detail.
The day trip to Troy was excellently organized, with an hotel pick-up and a smooth ferry crossing. Everything ran on time and without any stress. Our guide, Burak, was highly professional and very knowledgeable about the site's history. He kept the tour engaging by mixing historical facts with a great sense of humor, making the visit very enjoyable. If you spend time in Istanbul, it is definitely worth a shot!
We had a wonderful experience with Crowded House Tours on our City of Troy trip. Everything was well-organized and on time, and the staff were very nice and approachable. Special thanks to Serhat, who guided us to and from the ferry between Eceabat and Çanakkale. It was also really nice chatting with him during the ride - he was friendly, fun, and easy to talk to. He clearly explained what was included in the tour and the itinerary, and he shared interesting stories about the history of the place and the war that happened years ago. You can really see how passionate and dedicated he is to his job through the way he treats his guests. Our guide in Troy, Simge, was also amazing. Even while we were still on the van, she was already sharing historical information and making sure we understood the significance of the site. She is very knowledgeable and confident in what she does. Despite the rain, our tour continued smoothly, and she even offered us an umbrella. She was patient, caring, and always checked if we were comfortable. We would also like to thank our drivers for getting us safely to and from Istanbul. Their professionalism and careful driving made the long journey comfortable and stress-free. Overall, it was a memorable and enjoyable experience. I highly recommend Crowded House Tours, especially if you’re visiting Troy. Thank you to the whole team for making our trip so special!
Everything was great. The tour guide knew a lot. Great experience. Totally worth it. To me, it was a dream come true, since I am a big fan of Troy.
This tour was by far the most engaging and insightful we did in Turkiye. Big thanks to our very active guide, Borak. Though the actual tour of the archaeological site is less than half a day, what we learned was a lot. Stories about the archaeologists, the people, and the place of Troia are truly worth knowing. The drive from Istanbul to Canakkale was long, though, so be prepared. There’s also a ferry ride, so consider packing some snacks! The tour included our lunch and the admission fees. Definitely best for solo travellers, families, and friends!
The tour is efficiently organized with sufficient breaks for the long road trip. Certainly a great way to be able to see Troy from Istanbul.
Not worth it. Drive to Troy would not be too bad except our pick up from hotel included picking up other people from other hotels for a total of 1 hour. Drop-off at the end was the same thing so that meant 2 hours of our time was wasted! We were the first to be picked up at 5:50am. Guide was terrible and condescending too!
It seemed a bit hectic all the changes of vehicles , but it was actually very well planned, and they were very responsible, carefully checking who went where. Personally I liked a lot crossing the Dardanelles. Lunch was good; better yet with close feline companionship ( this is Türkiye!). At Troy/ Truva/Troia ( you choose ) the guide was very thorough. A little tiresome to stand in the sun, listening, but young people probably didn't care. Beautiful views of Marmara sea & Dardanelles.
The tour of Troy was informative and enjoyable. The guide was very knowledgable and did a great job explaining the history and the archeologists who uncovered the ruins. The meal was good and the rest stops were at gas stations with hot food service and clean bathrooms. The reason I would not recommend this tour is the length of the drive. The tour operator offers overnight tours with additional stops which would make the drive More Tolerable and might be a better option.
It's a long van ride there and back, but worth it! Our for guide Cindy blended history and a little humor for an unforgettable tour experience.
This trip was so well organised! We were well taken care of from start to finish. We had plenty of time for photos and food (everything was delicious!), and we were picked up and dropped off right around the corner from our hotel. I would absolutely recommend this tour!
Great well organized tour that despite the super long day felt super comprehensive and rewarding. Smooth pick up and drop off and our tour guide was marvelous.
Was amazing to my dream come thru viewing the history in front of my eyes. Always wanted to see the horse 🐎
amazing. lots of information, mythology and archaeology. our guide Ibrahim IBO was extremely detailed and very funny. we learned a lot but also laughed a lot. the place to visit is friendly, with wooden bridges, trees and benches from time to time. it was much more welcoming than we expected and we traveled with my 87 year old grandmother. too short a time and we didn't have time to visit the Troya museum. I recommend 2 days but even 1 day is very good. Canakkale no is very cheap comparing to Istanbul. it's worth staying longer.
The Troy element of the tour was very interesting and informative, the guide had a great deal of information. The lunch (at 11am) wasn't fantastic, but was passable. The dinner stop was good, my husband reports that it was a surprise that the best burger he has now ever had came from a service station. The coach transfer from Istanbul was interesting, it wasn't the drivers fault that something came off the road and smashed the ceiling window, however glass did fall down onto people as we didn't pull over for sometime and the fix was to find cardboard at a service station some way up the road. I would recommend this trip for the Troy element.
I’ve been wanting to complete this tour for years and it did not disappoint. Moreover, our tour guide made the experience memorable!!! She was knowledgeable and contributed to an amazing experience..
It was good. Picked up and driven there. I would say the only down side was the amount of time it took. Didn’t know we were going to take the ferry but hey that happens. The guides were good. One member had a medical issue on the tour which diverted the guide to helping them. But got back after taking care of it to finishing the tour.
It takes some driving, but it's absolutely worth it. Incredible to see Troy, and even better with a professional guide.
What a great tour. We learned so much about the history of Troy and its excavation. Our guide Hasan was very knowledgeable, friendly and humorous.
Burak was a passionate and knowledgeable guide. His love of history, Troy and guiding was a real pleasure. We would highly recommend that if you love history and the story of Troy, request Burak at Crowded House Tours.
A very long day from Istanbul and back again, 0600 - 2230. However the tour itself was fantastic and Charles was a font of all knowledge and really brought the tour to life. Without a guide it would be impossible to visualise the remains. Lunch was basic but tasty, bring drinks and snacks as a long day with only one lunch provided. Would recommend and do again, but maybe stay over and include Gallipoli the following day.
Very informative tour of excavation and layers of Troia. makes for a long day from Istanbul but coaches were comfortable and rest stops frequent enough.
Tour and guide was great. Enjoyed seeing and learning about the 9 cities of Troy. Also got to see modern day Troy. Trip is about 4.5 hours from Istanbul. Lunch was delicious. Recommend this trip especially if you enjoy history.
Ahmed is the world’s greatest Tour guide! He’s not a God he’s just a man, but he’s close!!! The guy is simply amazing! The tour was good! And we saw some cool stuff, and we were prepped with great information as well
Tourist guide stole the show and she is very knowledgeable. The journey to the troy is exhausting though.
Guide was very knowledgeable about history of Troy. He was entertaining as well and made a long day go by fairly quickly.
This was an amazing experience with a very knowledgeable guide who explained the history, legend and archaeology of Troy in a very clear way.
We were picked up on time ( an early start 0630hrs for a very long day) . We were transported in a small mini bus. With a stop on route for morning tea/ toilets etc. Lunch in Cannake ( was nice & sufficient) We were then split into groups- some to galipoli- us to Troy. We got ferry across the dardanelles ( only 15mins- 20mins on way back). We had photo time with Trojan horse used in movie - then onto the real Troy. Our guide was informative of the site ( various time periods). Always time for photos & to ask questions. After a small snack break & time to buy gifts . Bus & ferry return. A stop at previous location for a half hour odd for tea on way back & dropped off at ones hotel . Arrived at hotel 2100hrs. A long day but a good one. To Note: we accidentally left some t shirts that we brought on the trip in the back of our tour bus . I contacted Crowded house company immediately, when we found that we had forgotten them - & they so kindly dropped them off at our hotel the very next morning. Now that is great service & we very much appreciated such. Thank you.
Our guide was very knowledgeable. However, the trip was a bit rushed. We started Troy in reverse chronological order (im.assumong to save time) and then at the end, I had to choose between using the restroom and buying Souvenirs. I chose the restroom and then I only had time to grab the first magnet that I saw. I wanted to get a tshirt but there was no time to look at options or decide on sizes. Other than that, the drive was smooth (a bit long but that's out of the tour's control) but it was comfortable. Would definitely recommend. I'd like to suggest to mgmt to cut breakfast break a bit shorter so that the tour doesn't have to rush to catch the ferry back.
Once we arrived at Troy the tour guide was very knowledgeable and made the visit interesting. However, the trip itself is very chaotic with multiple bus changes, the lunch was disappointing and not of a good standard, additionally we had this at 1130. We didn’t get back to Istanbul until 940pm with no other opportunity to get food, as whilst we stopped on the way back (30minutes) at the same place we had lunch, they had stopped serving food. With a little better planning it would be quite simple to incorporate dinner into this tour. Overall I’m glad we went however wouldn’t recommend unless some changes were made to make the trip more pleasurable for guests rather than just a money making excrcise.
My husband took this trip, and described it as flawlessly organized. They added our hotel to the pick-up list. The morning trip included a half-hour stop. Efficient transfer to a different shuttle van after the ferry across the Dardanelles. They were joined there by a very informative and qualified guide -- a trained archeologist who had worked on the site since he was a teenager. This trip makes for a very long day, but if you're into Troy, well worth it.
It’s a little difficult for me to find it interesting to look at ancient ruins, but I believe our tour guide did a decent job in doing this. I got the gist of the flow of events and I appreciated the numerous references to the 2004 movie to help with the understanding. I believe the language barrier was a bit significant to be overlooked since there were some parts where our tour guide was mentioning singular words and I had to guess their corresponding meaning. The tour logistics was well organized - the operators reached out to me days beforehand to confirm information, the driver shared that we would be having stopovers, and the tour office receptionist double confirmed each of our tours and transit arrangements to and from. I’m not sure if this is a good offering for people staying in Istanbul since it would basically be 5-7 hours of transit to Troy, 2 hours in the archaeological site itself, then 5-7 hours of transit to Troy. Part of me thinks that this should be offered strictly as an overnight package, or limited to those staying in the Canekkele area.
Never could have made this trip on my own for this price. Wonderful meeting a few people along the way. The English guide was passionate and all staff were very attentive.
Troy is amazing. The depth of history is something to behold. BUT. Probably avoid my mistake of doing this as a day trip from Istanbul. It is 5-6hrs there, and maybe 1-2hrs tour around the site, then 5-6hrs back. I advise to stay in the region overnight - there are other things to do, Gallipoli etc.. The tour operator were great though, pick up and drop off no problem and very well organised with transfers. This is not a slight on the operator, but dont do Troya as a single daytrip from Istanbul. Make the most of your time. Unless you are OK to spend 12 hrs on a bus and ferries.
We did Troy from Istanbul. It is an extremely long day. We were picked up at 6:45 AM and didn’t get back to our hotel room until 10:30 PM. You only spend about one hour visiting Troy itself and the rest of the time is in transfer and a short period for Lunch. Our guide at Troy was very good and entertaining. The lunch was good. Overall, the trip was educational and it was interesting to see Troy, but be prepared for an extremely long day.
Although long, a beautiful drive through the country side and along the sea to visit an area full of history and lore. The lunch was great, excellent coordination, and a wonderful tour of ancient Troy.
My partner and I were based out of Istanbul with no rented card, so this was definitely the best way to experience Troy! It was a very long ride in the van (I get motion sickness, so... Glad I made it!). I agree it's kind of unavoidable, but there is a ferry that goes from Istanbul direct to the location. Surprised we don't use that...? However, the guide was wonderful and it was nice to get extra flavor text on the ruins and the area's history. This trip included a stop for souvineers, which was much appreciated. For the money and time, this is definitely worth it, specifically when you don't have many other options like we did.
The ride there was terrifying, with the driver driving entirely too fast, and the food served for lunch was sub par. Everyone was nice, though, and the actual guided tour of Troy and the history of Gallipoli provided on the ferry over were wonderful, though. Our guide explained things well and always answered our questions.
It was a long day tour from Istanbul, and the tour company did everything very well and all was well organized and smooth. Guide was energetic and did a good job too, and the driving was safe. However this tour doesn't offer so much to see. In the archaeological site there is not much excavated, and you will mostly look at various stones spread out on the ground. Also the wooden horse is not built up yet. Lunch was provided on the tour but a very low cost option set menu and simple foods; also had to eat quite fast as the bus was leaving shortly. Food was not something I would remember this tour for. A tip for improvement is that the driver on the drop off tour should not make every effort to deliver guests the last 50 metres to the front door inside alleyways. A lot of time was wasted this way. It would be much faster for everyone to get home if there were some drop offs along main roads only with walking distance to hotels.
Really nice experience and great guide ☺️ The travel from Instanbul was long, but it was definitely worth ☺️
