This tour was a moving and unforgettable experience. Ibrahim was a very knowledgeable historian with amazing insights. He was respectful of both sides of the conflict. Both our drivers were excellent and drove very well in the wet conditions. This is a very organised tour with adequate breaks. Lunch was good. A must do experience.
Cindy was an amazing guide and we had a brilliant day. She was so knowledgeable about the history of Gallipoli and the surrounding areas. She provided a comprehensive explanation of both the Turkish and ANZAC/British experience of the battles in WWI. We visited many sites - my highlights were the trenches and standing on the beach where the invasion occurred. As an Australian, it was a deeply moving day. All the pickups and food stops were great and everything was communicated well. Highly recommended!
A long day, very informative And worth doing if you have a WW1 interest. However, due to the travel time you will only visit the area covered by the Anzacs, and not the British as distance is too great.
Excellent communication from tour company. Brilliant guide - informative, compassionate, inclusive. Excellent transport vehicle and pick up/drop off on time. Small group- nearly all Australian and NZ. Food provided for lunch not the best. Far too long allocated for lunch (1.5 hours) - 45 minutes would be sufficient. Overall a successful tour!
A rich and emotional day on the fields of Gallipoli, our guide brought the events to life with tje seriousness and reverence they deserve.
Wonderful experience for an Australian told by a turkish guide. He had a wealth of knowledge for both sides. We saw many different sites including the original monument, which is now too small to accommodate the amount of people who attend on Anzac day.
This was a great experience! Our guide was very knowledgable and was able to explain the background, daily life and battles of both the Australian and Turkish soldiers in an interesting and informative way.
Our guide Hasan dispels the popular myths surrounding the Gallipoli Landings, which gives us a very useful insight on the actual battle. We are happy to see the historical battlefields to get a better perspective of what was going on between April 1915-December 1915 in the Gallipoli Peninsula.
Fantastic film day, well worth the long drive from Instanbul. Beautiful reflection from an Australian perspective and full gratitude for Turkey! πΉ πΉπ· π¦πΊ π³πΏ πΉ
The tour is operated by well educated staff who know there jobs very well and made this a wonderful experience
The day trip to Gallipoli was long but well worth it. The pickup was smooth and the drive there was not arduous at all. Our guide Simge (Cindy) was well spoken and knew all the details for the campaign in 1915, so we knew what we were looking at and that we were understanding everything she said! The small group of 16 was perfect for the hop off and on every few minutes to see all the sites needed!
Despite being a long day from Istanbul the transport was seamless and the Gallipoli guide, George was so interesting and animated. He went out of his way to help the Australian and New Zealanders locate their relatives . I was the token Brit who knew the story of John Simpson and Murphy. as there is a monument to him in SouthShields( UK) It was a fascinating and very moving visit to the battlefield of Anzac Cove.
We did two tours with this company, Troy and Gallipoli. Both very efficiently run and the guides were very knowledgeable (especially Burak, our guide around Gallipoli). Further, the office staff are very helpful in providing advice to help pick the best option or organise a better stay. I would have no hesitation in recommending this tour company to anyone.
The day we had on our Gallipoli tour was full on but a really great experience for anyone who likes history. Our experience with Crowded House was very good. Their communication and organisation were excellent. Our guide Ibrahim knew his stuff inside out as well as being personable and entertaining.
βββββ Highly Recommended: A Flawless, Moving, and Masterfully Guided Day Tour to Gallipoli We booked the full-day Gallipoli tour from Istanbul with Crowded House Tours, and it was an absolutely outstanding experience from start to finish. Our driver, Metine, was waiting for us exactly at our designated pickup point right outside the cruise terminal. The van was incredibly spacious and comfortable. Metine is a fantastic driver; we felt completely safe the entire time, and he thoughtfully planned a restroom and refreshment break at the halfway mark of the journey. Upon arriving in Eceabat, we enjoyed a delicious included lunch before picking up our guide, Bulant. Bulant is a true expert on the Gallipoli campaign. He was incredibly passionate, respectful, and deeply knowledgeable about the World War I campaign. He explained the battles clearly and comprehensively, ensuring we understood the massive sacrifices made on all sides. The tour was highly thorough and included visits to Anzac Cove, Brighton Beach, Johnston's Jolly trenches, Lone Pine Cemetery, The Nek Cemetery, Beach Cemetery, the New Zealand Memorial at Chunuk Bair, as well as several Turkish cemeteries and memorials. Bulant ensured we had plenty of time for photos and never felt rushed when asking questions. Although it is a long dayβwe were picked up at 9:00 AM and returned to the ship by 9:30 PMβthe comfortable transit and engaging pacing meant we did not feel exhausted at all. It was worth every single minute. 5 stars!
Our Guide Baruk was fantastic. I learned so much about the campaign I had not been taught in school. Baruk was kind enough to provide me with a poppy to place on my great uncleβs memorial. Baruk collects cloth Police badges and needs a Tassie one if anyone from Tassie is visiting.
Fantastic day out, Burak was a very knowledgeable & informative guide with a great sense of humor. He had us laughing many many times with his jokes and accents. Highly recommend Burak as a guide and the tour in general. Also our drivers for the trip were excellent it is a big day out from Istanbul but well worth it. βββββ
We had a fantastic day with Ramazan. He was so informative about Gallipoli; we learnt so much and had a much better appreciation of what went on. Being there firsthand really brought everything to life. We shed a tear knowing that so many young soldiers ( from both sides ) lost their lives. Ramazan went at our speed, and we were never rushed. Highly recommended.
Really interesting day with a great guide. Burak was able to give us lots of interesting insights into Anzac Cove and the surrounding areas along with the Turkish Monuments.
We really enjoyed the day. All logistics went smoothly and we got to see and learn so much. Our Guide Burak (pictured below) taught us alot and was very entertaining and funny. This helped to balance the heavy history being discussed. Bonus - I got to watch the Lions beat Freo in the GF on my phone on the drive down. What a day!
Great day. Transport very efficient Our guide was amazing. Very passionate and knowledgeable. Very moving experience.
We really enjoyed our tour from Istanbul to Gelibolu with Crowded House tours. Our guide, ΓaΔir (or Charlie) was excellent. A great source of information with strong knowledge of the terrain, the battles and all the stories. A stop in Eceabat for lunch was friendly. Visiting the site was moving, as it should be. It's hard to believe somewhere so peaceful and beautiful was once so terrible. The only troublesome part of the day was getting through Istanbul's infamous traffic on the way home - if the operators can work out a way to overcome this the tour would be perfect.
Long day on a bus but the experience well worth it. Rubbing shoulders with fellow Aussies and Kiwis paying their respects to the ANZACsβ¦. Amazing. Our guide Hasan was very passionate about his knowledge of Gallipoli
Very interesting. The guide had a lot of information about the history and was very helpful and friendly.
This Crowded House tour to Gallipoli is well worth the money. Whilst the return trip from Istanbul is a very long day, the transport is very comfortable with stops half way down and back for food and refreshments as well as a lovely lunch before the start of the tour. The tour of Gallipoli is amazing and vists all key locations with amazing commentary and insights at each location as well as ample time to look around and take photos. Our guide on the day, Hasan was amazing - he has been doing Gallipoli tours for 18 years and is extremely knowledgable and passionate in telling the stories from all perspectives - Australian, New Zealand and Turkish. I would highly recommend any Australians or New Zealanders visiting Istanbul to allocate a full day to doing this tour and take the opportunity to understand the ANZAC story and p[ay respects to those who made their sacrifice in this campaign.
As a New Zealander, I felt we had a duty to visit Gallipoli as it is an integral part of our history. Crowded House tours made every part of the tour run smoothly and our guide BariΕ was knowledge and engaging.
We had a surreal tour with Burak, who was very knowledgeable. I came with 6 of my friends from New Zealand and we learnt more about Gallipoli, in half a day than we did in school. Transfer from Istanbul was smooth and seamless.
An exemplary operator and tour. Spoke to Ramazan expressing an interest in the Gallipoli tour but needing to go onto Selcuk afterwards as opposed to returning to Istanbul. He immediately said that was possible, where were we going, what help did we need etc. A few emails later it was all arranged. 3 months later they did exactly as promised, the tour lead by Borak was fabulous and they then took us to Canakkale with the other tour participants. At midnight we were collected and escorted to the bus station where the bus manager was advised that we might need help with the language when our bus arrived. The whole experience was managed professionally and with our peace of mind considered. Amazing. Use Crowded House...they won't disappoint
I knew it would be something special to go to Gallipoli as an Australian growing up on the stories about the battle (but not knowing the detail) Our guide βBurakβ was an absolute fountain of knowledge about the war and which forces went where. The time spent in Gallipoli (around 3.30 hours) was perfect. We went to places (around 7) of real significance for Kiwis and Aussies. Even though other forces were a part of the contingent attacking the coast. I canβt fault the people and the experience of the day. Just expect a long day and be patient as they do drive around Istanbul to pick people up. We had a stop in the middle of the trip going there and back, which helps.
Pilgrimage completed! This was truly an experience not to miss. Our tour was 15 people from all over the world, 4 Australians, 2 Irish included. We managed to fit every site of importance with plenty of time to explore and reflect. A truly emotional day for many of us, the nation of Turkiye have paid such respect to each and every nation involved. Our guide Birak (not Borat in a manikini) knew more about the Gallipoli campaign and Australian and New Zealand culture than anyone l have ever met. His humility, genuine respect and knowledge added to this wonderful experience. You will be very lucky to spend the day with such an intelligent man. Our drivers were always helpful and told us about interesting points along the way, especially our morning driver (l am sorry l forgot his name). A very comfortable and safe drive with good options for food etc both ways. Itβs a long day but worth every moment!! I would 100% recommend this tour.
It was fantastic experience great history lessons just too see and feel the place was amazing tour guide lady sue was very knowledgeable and professional lots of great information highly recommend
Excellent day tour from Istanbul. Long day of 15 hours but well worth it if short on time. As an Australian I found it a fascinating, emotional and rewarding tour. Our guide Cindy was fabulous - very knowledgeable. We visited 11 sites. Such a beautiful area despite the tragic war. Highly recommend.
An amazing experience. Comfy air con vehicle from Istanbul to Canakkale followed by a nice relaxed lunch before the tour. Our tour guide, Ibrahim, was incredibly knowledgeable with excellent English and a great sense of humour. We saw a lot of sites and the tour was just the right length of time to get to see important sites and have time for photos etc. My grandfather landed at Anzac Cove as an 18 year old and went on to survive the Western Front and came home at the age of 22. It was very moving for me to see the beach where he would have first put his boots on Turkish sand. I highly recommend this tour and Crowded House Tours for really looking after guests. Awesome day.
Excellent tour. Be ready for a long day in the minivan but all was as explained in the description. Our guide was an amazing young lady with fabulous knowledge and enthusiasm for the topic along with a genuine consideration for everyone involved in the conflict.
Burak was an exceptional guide, knew way more about the Anzacs than myself. Explained Gallipoli in well structured way. Tom was a great driver.
From the moment we were picked up at our Hotel by Oktay, our driver, this tour was conducted in slick and highly professional manner. It's quite a trek from Istanbul to Gallipoli but with Otkay at the wheel of the air-conditioned van we gobbled up the km's. Once we arrived at Eceabat, we met our guide Simge who was immediately both extremely engaging and friendly. We had a sumptuous lunch and then set off for the tour. What followed was the most comprehensive and informative trip back in time through each point of the Gallipoli campaign. Being Australian we were obviously interested in seeing the major landmarks, battlegrounds and memorials that we had learned about through school, movies and documentaries. Our guide Simge took our education to another level, walking us through each stage of the Operation with exceptional knowledge and a flair for storytelling that can't be overstated. Her passion and enthusiasm was infectious and kept us completely engaged for the 4.5+ hours of the tour. What stood out to me was the respect and solemnity shown by the Turkish people towards both the ANZAC's (and other allies) and their own fallen soldiers. This was illustrated by the attitude of the wonderful Simge throughout the tour. She embodied the reverence that is shown right throughout each location of this most important piece of shared history. The words of Mustafa Kemal AtatΓΌrkβs famous 1934 tribute to the ANZAC soldiers at Gallipoli assuring grieving mothers that their fallen sons rest in peace in a friendly land were not in the least bit hollow. Thank you to Simge, Otkay, and Crowded House Tours for making a once in a lifetime experience truly memorable. Greg, Bec, Leanne & Darren
Great trip with a very knowledgeable tour guide. Would recommend that you advise travellers what footwear and clothes to wear.
A great experience and our guide was fantastic- so much information was given. Sorry didnβt catch the guides name but the driver was Josh who also was very good.
We are so incredibly glad we chose to do this tour. Visiting Gallipoli is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience that we will never forget. Our guide, Cindy, was absolutely fantastic. She was deeply knowledgeable and shared rich historical context that brought the history of the site to life. Her insights made the entire day much more meaningful. We highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area. It is an absolute must-do!
This was a good tour very informative tour guide
Unreal day today with the crowded house team. Tour Guide Charlie was extremely good at what he does. Great personality, sense of humour but also extremely knowledgeable. Definitely Recommend
I had a wonderful day visiting Gallipoli with Charlie on this Viator tour. The itinerary was perfectly paced, with just the right amount of time at each stop to appreciate the history without ever feeling rushed. Charlie was an excellent guideβfriendly, knowledgeable, and thoughtful in the way he answered questions. He explained the strategic importance of the Gallipoli Peninsula, the perspectives of the different nations involved, and how the campaign unfolded over the days and months with clarity, balance, and diplomacy. His storytelling brought the history to life and made the experience deeply meaningful. A truly special trip that I would highly recommend.
Great tour and commentary from a knowledgeable host. Lunch was good and pickup all went smoothly, thanks
We were undecided about taking this tour as it was going to be such a long day travelling from Istanbul, but we are so pleased we did! The day was amazing and Baruk was a fantastic tour guide! He was engaging and funny, while still giving the more solemn moments the respect they deserved. The only glitch we had was a mix up in the pick up time. We had a message the day before saying 6:30am, but then the driver was there and expecting us at 6am. There seemed to be mixed messages given to other tour members too, so these procedures may need to be improved.
An excellent tour. The guide Gagi (Charlie ) was excellent. He had good English , a sense of humor and great history knowledge. I can recommend this tour.
We really enjoyed the whole day. It was very informative and sobering, but Hasan certainly was so knowledgeable , and had such a great lot of photos to show us. The lunch was very nice, plenty for everyone. The only down side for my husband and myself, was the it being such a hot day. Hasan certainly made the the day with plenty of jokes and fun things. We would certainly recommend this tour.
So knowledgeable and our guide Charlie explained everything so well from all points of views We did the day tour and are from OZ, very humbling and glad to have done it
This is a long day, about 15 hours as it is 4 hours distance from Istanbul. However it is well worth it. Our guide Gagri (Charlie) was excellent. Good English, good history knowledge and a sense of humour.
A very informative and interesting day. Our guide Charlie was full of knowledge and passionate about the history of Gallipoli. Our driver Josh was friendly and added commentary at times too.
